Otha started his career at DaCosta & Musson Ltd, Broad Street, in the shoe department. After completing a course in Business Studies in the early days, he moved on to Barbados Rediffusion Ltd where he worked in the Accounts Department. Afterwards, he moved on to manage Y. De. Lima and eventually became a managing director. After leaving De. Lima, he opened the doors of his own jewellery store in Haggatt Hall.
Son of the late Hubert (Reginald) and Katherine Blackett of The Ivy, St. Michael.
Husband of the late Glendine Blackett and father of Otha Jr., James (England), Jean and Juliana Blackett.
He was the cherished grandfather of Otha Jr., Ziah and Anya Blackett (England), and Izabelle Jenkins.
