Irene De La Garza - July 20, 1952 - October 26, 2021

Departed: 10/26/2021 (Beeville)
Obituary Preview: Irene Ann Sanchez de la Garza July 20, 1952-October 26, 2021
Our precious Mom, Irene Ann Sanchez de la Garza was born July 20, 1952 in the small community of Needville, Tx. to Louisa Figueroa Sanchez and Ralph Sanchez.  She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Tx.
All that knew our Mom, knew that her children were the light in her eyes.
When we were in grade school she worked as a Teacher's Aide at our school, always staying close at hand.  She made Amanda's clothes and the two would often dress alike.  Mom liked to sew and make our Halloween costumes, and she made our stuffed dolls as well.   She always knew how to make something or repair it.   In our teen years, it was a special treat to have her check us out of school and spend the day with us, out and about.
Mom loved to fish and hunt.  She was the "lucky charm' when it came to fishing.   When no one was catching anything, she would show up and the fish would start biting... our Lucky Charm had arrived.  Family time was what she enjoyed the most.  Laughing and loving with family were the best of times for her. She also enjoyed board games and card games and loved reading novels.  When she married into the de la Garza family, she embraced it with all her heart and soul.  She adored her in laws, both her Mom and Dad in law and all of her sisters and brothers in law.  They in turn, adored her.  Many fun times were shared having Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary tournaments.
Sadly, the light in our Mom's eyes was dimmed when she lost her precious son, John Michael when he was 9 years of age.  She missed him until she took her last breath.  Our hearts are at peace knowing they are together again.
She is proceeded in death by her beloved parents, her brother Henry and her precious son, John Michael.
Mom is survived by her partner of 17 years, Luis Garza of Corpus Christi.  We are so appreciative of the great care he provided for our Mom.
Additionally, she is survived by her children, her daughter Amanda de la Garza-Simmons and husband Ben Simmons, of Vidor, Tx and their children, Gavyn, Shelby and Morgan and her son Kenneth de la Garza and his wife Monica, of Beeville and their children Kaden and Kyler.
Also surviving her are her brother Jesse Sanchez and wife Alice, of Alvin, Tx and John de la Garza, the father of her children, as well as many very special family members and friends.
Funeral Services are entrusted to Trevino Funeral Home, 401 W. Springer St., Beeville, Tx.   Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6th from 12:00-2:00 pm.  Chapel Service will follow.  A Reception for friends and family will be held after the Service.
Whereas our hearts are broken, we know that our loving Mom is at peace and was welcomed Home by her dear son, John Michael, that she so deeply missed.   Go rest high on the mountain, Sweet Mom, your work on earth is done.
