Obituary Preview: Edith Cathern Myers Nine Goff, 95, a resident of Beverly WV but originally from Rowlesburg, WV, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, under the care of Mountain Hospice. She was born on August 5, 1928 in Etam, WV a daughter of the late Arthur and Tacy Marie Myers. Edith was first married to Charles Nine on March 19, 1946 in Rowlesburg, WV. They were married for 26 years and he passed away on December 21, 1982. She married Ross Goff on September 25, 1988. They were married for 19 years. He passed away on October 26, 2007. Edith and Charles had 5 children. Four daughters, Anna Henline and husband Gary from Rowlesburg, WV; Donna Reckart and husband Dale of Elkins, WV; Charolette Biser and husband Cliff from Beverly, WV and one son, Charles W. Nine from Rowlesburg, WV. One surviving sister Shirley Muir from Hopewell, PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, LaDonna Rosencrance and husband Mark from Elkins, WV; Scott Reckart and wife JoAnna from Elkins, WV, Cathern Henline from Bluffton, South Carolina, and Christopher Biser and wife Amanda from Cresaptown, Maryland. Great Grandchildren Kaylee and Alex Rosencrance, Jazmine McVey, Josh Reckart, Shane McVey, Colin and Jordyn Reeves, Landon and Delaney Biser. Edith had a very special friend Sandy Bolyard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant daughter Elizabeth Ellen Nine, brothers Frank and Richard Myers and five sisters, Mary Owens, Freda Morton, Virginia Wiles, Ruth Collins, and Goldie Harper. Edith loved spending time with her family, flowers, gardening, and her cat. She was always a shoulder to lean on and had ears that listened intently. She cared deeply about the people in her life and the world around her. She wished to do good in the world and she did it for 95 years.
A small service for the immediate family will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1002 South Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Edith. Obituary Preview: Betty Lou Frame, age 92 years, a former resident of Gassaway, WV passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Mountain Memories Assisted Living & Retirement Center in Elkins. She was born January 1, 1932 at Flint, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Edna Arbogast Gould. In 1947, she was married to Jack R. Frame who preceded her in death February 24, 1973. Surviving are two daughters-in-law, Debrah Frame of Gassaway, WV and Susan Frame of Elkins; two brothers, Richard Gould of Valley Head and Stanley Gould of Elkins. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Mickel L. Frame and Jack R. Frame, II; one daughter, Barbara J. Crawford; two sisters, Gatha Berkle and Barbara Houser and two brothers, Bob Gould and Arley Gould. Following her husband’s death, Betty received her GED, enrolled at Davis & Elkins College and graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. She had worked at Davis Memorial Hospital and Braxton County Memorial Hospital. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed making quilts, painting ceramics and doing jig saw puzzles.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head, WV. Pastor Ann Fretwell will officiate and interment will follow. Obituary Preview: Rosie Ann Sneberger Ketterman, a former resident of Pickens and Elkins, currently residing at Lavender Fields Assisted Living in Beverly, at the age of 99 years 6 months and 21 days, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Mrs. Ketterman was born on October 17, 1924 near Pickens, WV. Rosie was the daughter of the late Mark and Polona Pavlas Sneberger. Rosie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. On June 29, 1957, she married Cody Ketterman of Harman who passed on August 13, 2012. Rosie’s four brothers: Mark Sneberger, Anton Sneberger (Lena), John Sneberger (Marian) of the Pickens area and Joseph Marinic of Zagreb (Yugoslavia); and five sisters: Katie Winemiller (Bill), Vera Schneider (Max), Helen Sneberger of the Pickens area and Olga Ball (Lynn) and Mary Waggoner (Percy, Ercil) of the Elkins area predeceased Rosie. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Rosie was a lifelong resident of the Pickens area. She graduated from Turkeybone School. She was a life member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosie was both a wife and a farmer. She partnered with her husband, Cody, sister Helen, and mother in managing Sneberger Farms. The Farm won numerous farming awards and was honored with the title of Master Shepherd of West Virginia several times during the 1960’s. During this time Sneberger Farms held the world record for production of most lamb weight per ewe. They also raised Herford cattle and milk cows. Each year a bountiful garden was raised, much of the produce displayed at the community fair won prizes. Rosie loved animals. She always could be found with her dogs following as she completed her farm chores. Rosie also loved horses. In days gone by she would act as the farm teamster, using horses to harvest hay and crops until utilization of tractors and modern machinery came to the farm. Then the horses became her beloved pets. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 11:00 am Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Pickens, WV. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday from the church with Father Ed Tetteh as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery near Pickens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, PO Box 785, Elkins, WV, 26241 in memory of Rosie. Obituary Preview: Miriam E. Thompson, age 99 years, a resident of Montrose passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Millie Costello at Bybee, TN. She was born February 27, 1925 at Yarmouth, MA, a daughter of the late Frank Edward and Millie Nickerson Whelden. On January 1, 1944 at Hyannis, MA, she was married to Leon Thompson who preceded her in death June 28, 1999. Surviving are three daughters, Millie Costello of Bybee, TN, Mary Calvert of Newburg, WV and Lois Bowles of Cape Cod, MA; one son, Chesley Thompson of Maynard, MA and one brother, David Whelden of Dennis Port, MA. Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death were one son, Leon Earl Thompson; sisters, Inez Scott and Faith Hysaw; and brothers, Frank and George Whelden.
Miriam was Valedictorian of her high school graduating class in Yarmouth, MA. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mercy Chapel United Methodist Church at Montrose. She was very active in her church community, was a member of the choir and secretary of the United Methodist Women’s Group. Miriam was a loving “Nana” to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and was voted World’s Best Nana for sixty years straight.

One brother, Gary Channell and wife Norma of Parsons; two sisters, Brenda Coffman of Belington and Regina McGraw of Elkins; two grandchildren, Claire and Daniel Channell; ex-wife Rebecca Channell and special friend, Donna Evix. Also preceding him in death were one brother, Roger Channell and one sister, Linda Hedrick. Sherman was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1983 and had worked as a mail deliverer prior to becoming disabled. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and working around his home. He was a Protestant by faith.

Obituary Preview: Helen Mae Champ White, age 90 years, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins where she had been a resident for the past eight years. Before moving to ERCC, she lived with her daughter Karen Vance a resident of Jimtown. Born October 7, 1933 at Flint, WV. She was a daughter of the late Dexter “Dick” Champ and Daisy Maude Hawley Champ of Bemis. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having also being preceded in death by sisters, Edith Champ who died in infancy and Bernice Gooding; brothers, LT. Arthur Champ who died in World War II as a fighter pilot, Jack, Buddy and Carl Champ. She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Thomas J. Letvin and Michael Lee Vance. She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Vance of Jimtown, Dee Letvin of Lathrup Village, MI and Sharon Brake of Charleston, WV. Two granddaughters, Mrs. Abbie (Kevin) Sack of Royal Oak, MI, Samantha Letvin of Ferndale, MI; three grandsons, Brian Brake, Andrew Brake and Travis Brake and a great grandson, Lennon Sack who referred to his great grandmother as Gi-Gi. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren. She was a cook by trade, having worked at Third Ward School, Memorial General Hospital, Lamplight Restaurant and Davis Memorial Hospital before retiring. Her favorite things to make were chocolate fudge, banana nut bread and pineapple upside down cake. She sent many, many loaves of bread to her two grandson’s and son-in-law while stationed in Desert Storm. Helen loved animals more than she did people. She is survived by her cat Parker who lives with her daughter Karen. Helen White, a resident of ERCC had a weekly visitor, Bella, a yorkie belonging to her daughter. Bella brought not only joy to Helen, but all of the residents and employees at ERCC.

Reverend Barry Robert Moll - May 16, 1954 - March 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: Reverend Barry Robert Moll, age 69, of Buckhannon, WV passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family on March 26, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer.  Barry was born on May 16, 1954 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the middle child of the late Karl and Janet Keller Moll.  Barry is survived by Pam Tanner Moll, his wife of 48 years. He is also survived by his four children: son Brandon (Amy) Moll of Craigsville, WV; daughter Emily (Tony) Roush of Morgantown, WV; son Jonathan (Celia) Moll of Charleston, WV; and daughter Elizabeth (Jonathan) Brumfield of Charleston, WV. Also surviving are sister Sherrill (Phil) Strickland of Clinton, MA and brother Kirk (Mary) Moll of Carlisle, PA. Surviving beloved grandchildren include Bree, Ashton, Elise, Eli, Jonathan Jr., Liam, Christian, Cora, Cayden, Rowan, and David. Barry is also survived by his Uncle Chuck (Judy) Moll, several special nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members along with countless close friends.
As a young boy, Barry developed a life-long love of baseball. Barry attended and graduated from College High School, a demonstration high school on the campus of Montclair State College, in Montclair, NJ. During his senior year of high school, he dedicated his life to Christ. He came to West Virginia to attend his beloved WV Wesleyan College in Buckhannon where he met his loving wife, and he loved Pam and our state so well that he never left. After graduating from Wesleyan, he attained his Masters of Divinity from Emory University Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. Barry spent the remainder of his life serving faithfully as a pastor in the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Barry retired from pastoral ministry in 2018 and quickly began serving as Chaplain at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, a ministry which he found very fulfilling.
Most recently Barry’s dedication to helping others and volunteerism was carried out through his work at the Upshur Parish House in Buckhannon. In addition to this, he has completed mission trips to several countries around the world. Many of them working with Volunteers in Mission. He was instrumental in creating the Celebration of Mission Event many years ago in the WV Annual Conference. Barry has touched the lives of countless people around the world through his love of Christ. He earnestly believed that you can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips.

He is survived by three brothers, Jim Kyle and wife Sue of Keyser, WV, Phil Kyle and wife Marlene and Jeff Kyle and wife Janice of Elkins; three sisters, Mary Rowan and husband Buddy, Brenda Kirkpatrick and Martha Roy and husband David, all of Elkins. Three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Kyle of Elkins, Nancy Wilkes of Arizona and Rev. Trudy Paul of Texas; several nieces and nephews also survive. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Edgar and Franklin “Randy” Kyle; one sister, Patricia Miller: sister-in-law, Juanita Kyle; brother-in-law, John Kirkpatrick and best friend Mona Macomber. Arnold was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1947. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from Barnes and Brass Company where he had worked as a master electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers Local Union 596 of Clarksburg, WV and was a member of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Arnold was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained Deacon, Elder, served on the Board of Trustees and was an Elder Emeritus of the church.

Obituary Preview: Jon Ward Parrack passed peacefully from this life in his sleep just as he prayed he would on Monday, March 18, 2024 at his home in Haines City, Florida. Jon Ward Parrack was born on April 9, 1942, a son of the late Ralph Ward Parrack and Josephine Mildred Delaney Parrack. He grew up in Mill Creek, WV where he had many adventures hunting and fishing. His life was spent as an avid outdoorsman. Jon graduated from Tygarts Valley High School. He met the love of his life, Twilda Rust, in high school. They were married at Mill Creek Methodist Church on May 14, 1961. Shortly after marriage the young couple moved to Adelphi, Maryland where Jon worked as a photographer for The Evening Star Newspaper. His next job was at Vitro Engineering, also in photography. Jon then took a job for the Department of Defense at Wright Patterson Air Force Base doing photography. The family made their home in nearby Xenia, OH. While in Ohio Jon attended Wright State University. He was very involved in coaching his children in softball, football, and other sports. But Jon always wanted to return home to the mountains of West Virginia. In 1975 the family moved to Elkins, West Virginia where he started a Nationwide Insurance Agency. His wife, Twilda, joined him in the business. Jon & Twilda worked hard and grew a successful business together. They were the largest Nationwide Agency in WV for several years. Jon was also named a member of the prestigious “Million Dollar Roundtable”. Outside of work Jon was again active in softball, basketball, hunting and fishing. He coached youth sports in Elkins for many years. After retirement he and Twilda wintered in Florida for many years. By the end of winter Jon was always anxious to return to his family and the mountains he loved so much. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Josephine Parrack and a sister, Judith Parrack Parsons. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Twilda. His sons, Jon Ward Parrack II and wife Tammy of Point Pleasant, Ryan Lee Parrack and wife Rivanna of Elkins. Jon taught his sons the insurance business which they are both still active in today. He is also survived by his sister Sara Jo Bull and husband Rick Bull, a sister-in-law Beverly Quinn and husband Roger Quinn, and a brother-in-law Keith Hamrick and wife Hope Hamrick. Jon has 7 grandchildren – Paige, Jon Ward III, Kara, Paris, Paisley, Payton, and Piperanna, as well as 5 great grandchildren Carson, Owen, Sutton, Lilly, and Nora. He always put his family before himself. Jon loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He witnessed to everyone he met and led many people to the Lord. An involved member at several churches, he served as a deacon and trustee. He was currently a member at Landmark Baptist Church, at which he was also a founding member. He loved his church family and was a friend to all.

Obituary Preview: Wilmoth Forest Cooper, 77, a resident of Harman, WV departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, with his loving family at his side. He had recently declined in health, but death was unexpected. He was born January 25, 1947 at Harman, WV, a son of the late Burlin Forest Cooper and Gale D. Hedrick Cooper. On November 9, 1968, he married the former Sandra Jo Warner who survives at home. Also left to cherish his memory is one son, Harris Wilmoth Cooper of Harman; one sister, Pat Lane of Harman; one brother-in-law, Carl Wilfong of Harman; and one sister-in-law, Sherry Cooper of Hanover, PA. Several nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Sam Tassone also survive. Also preceding him in death besides his parents were siblings, Doreen Wilfong and Larry Cooper; father-in-law, Arlie Warner and mother-in-law, Vera Warner and brothers-in-law, Lee Warner and John Lane. Wilmoth attended the Harman School and earned his degree in Criminal Justice from Davis & Elkins College. He proudly served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Wilmoth had worked as a Randolph County Deputy Sheriff and as a bus driver for the Randolph County Schools until his retirement. He was also the owner of Cooper’s Campground in Harman. Growing up, Wilmoth attended the Harperton Sunday School and later attended other churches in the community. Wilmoth was an avid musician and was known for his extraordinary ability to play the fiddle. He enjoyed playing music at churches and family gatherings and taught many local musicians how to play. Wilmoth also loved animals, especially his cats. He was a loving husband and father who will be missed by all who knew him. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, P. O. Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241 in Wilmoth’s memory. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, WV. Pastor Shirley Bland will officiate. Interment will follow. Obituary Preview: Evelyn Regina “Jean” Wamsley, age 96 years, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 in the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins. She was born March 9, 1927 at Adrian, WV a daughter of the late George Dewey Wamsley and the late Lauthberry Channel Wamsley. Jean was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School in the Class of 1946. She graduated from the Davis & Elkins College School of Nursing and spent many years as a Registered Nurse prior to her retirement. She was a longtime resident of the Elkins Manor prior to moving to ERCC in 2013. She was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and enjoyed many trips and activities with her friends there. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Robert and James and sisters, Eleanor Pingley, Ethel Collins and Josephine Collins. Surviving is one sister, Barbara Fidler of Vinton, VA; two sisters-in-law, Naomi Wamsley of Elkins and Muggins Wamsley of Waynesboro, VA. In addition, she will be missed by several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the employees of ERCC for their loving care of our sister and aunt during the past few years. They were assisted by Mountain Hospice in her last days. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. Pastor Andrew Boley will officiate and interment will follow. Contributions may be made to the Brick Church Cemetery Foundation, Inc., PO Box 202, Mill Creek, WV 26280 for cemetery maintenance or construction of the new Meditation Chapel in memory of Jean. Obituary Preview: Eston William Nelson, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away February 29, 2024 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was married to Joyce Elaine (Lamb) Nelson for 38 years who survives. He was preceded in death by his only biological son, Eston William Nelson, on Nov. 16. 2011. He is survived by 3 daughters, Amber Nelson of Elkins, Wendi Sampson and husband Ron Sampson of Elkins, Heather Harris and husband Kevin Harris of Buckhannon, and 1 son Patrick Bodkin and wife Michelle Bodkin of Weston. He has 5 grandchildren Abigael Harris and Emma Harris of Buckhannon, Bradley Sampson of Elkins, Trey Bodkin and Athena Bodkin of Jacksonville, Florida. One half-brother Mitch Nelson of Foley, Alabama, Half-sister Joni Tingle of League City, Texas, Half-sister Bertha Wujcik of Morgantown, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diana M. (Nelson) Shifflett. The son of Roosevelt W. Nelson and Edna Louise Nelson, Eston Nelson grew up in Elkins, WV. He was born August 17, 1950 in Elkins, WV and attended Elkins High School. He attended welding school in Moorehead City, NC. Upon graduation he entered the Marine Corps and turned 19 in boot camp. He was a proud patriot and valued his service highly and attained the rank of Master Gunnery Sargeant E-9. Bill entered during the Vietnam Conflict going to Basic School, Unit Rep Data Handler, Mar Av Opas Clerk, Command and Staff College, Amphibious Course, SNCO Academy. He served as a 7041-Aviation Operations Specialist. He served during the Vietnam Conflict, Desert Storm and Gulf War. His decorations include Meritorious Mast, Pistol Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 8, Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Achievement 2#, Letter of Appreciation (3), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation 3#, National Defense Service Medal 2*, Held SNM held a final secret clearance completed 24 years 3mo and 1 day of continuous active service. After returning to Elkins in 1993, he became the Veterans Affairs Service Officer for several counties and serviced them until 2007 when he resigned. During these years he served the community as Charter Member of the Marine Corp League, Established Toys for Tots in Elkins, WV State Commandant, National Commandant, Member of Devil Dogs, VFW, American Legion. Services for Mr. Nelson will be private. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery near Grafton, WV. Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann DePoy Seders, age 82 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living and Retirement Center, under the care of Mountain Memories staff and WV Caring.  She was born on October 31, 1941, at Little Otter, near Gassaway, WV, the daughter of the late Russell and Ruby (Perrine) DePoy. On March 8, 1963, in Weirton, WV, she married the late Carl Seders. She is survived by her two sons, Rev. Brian (Susan) Seders of Elkins, WV, and Jason (Kim) Seders of Smithsburg, MD; one brother, Don (Jean) DePoy of Clayton, NC; 7 grandchildren, Nick (Kelly) Seders, Chris Seders, George (Suzzana) Seders, Faith Seders, Rebecca Seders, , Timothy (Brandi) Richmond and Betsy (Jon) Scovell; 8 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Richmond, Austin Richmond, Carter Scovell, Bryce Scovell, Charity Seders, Evangeline Seders, Shepherd Seders and Ezra Seders; one sister-in-law Sharon Seders; and three close nephews, Chuck (Diane) DePoy, Darrin (Annette) DePoy and Rick Nutter, as well as other nieces and nephews.  Patricia was a 1959 graduate of Weir High School. She had previously been employed at G. C. Murphy’s, Fisher’s Big Wheel, Weirton Steel, Hancock County Clerk’s Office, and the Hancock County Board of Education as a Bus Aide and a Teacher’s Aide, from where she retired.  Patricia loved her family and friends deeply. She was particularly fond of children, especially her grandkids and her “bus” kids. Patricia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Weirton, WV. She lived her Christian faith in word and deed. She will be greatly missed.  A memorial Service will be held in Weirton, WV on Saturday, April 6, at 3 pm, with visitation from 1 to 3, at the First United Methodist Church, 3301 West St. Interment will follow at the Pierpoint Cemetery in Alma, WV. Obituary Preview: Patricia Scanlan Schoonover, 77, a resident of Montrose, West Virginia, departed this life on the 25thday of February 2024 at Mountain Memories Assisted Living Center in Elkins, WV after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born September 13, 1946 in Nassawadox, Virginia the daughter of the late Warren L. Scanlan and Helen Zucchero Scanlan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Lee Scanlan, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Gloria Scanlan.  On August 22, 1970 in Exmore Virginia Pat was married to James L. Schoonover who survives at their residence near Montrose. Also surviving is her son Richard Schoonover and daughter-in-law Carrie and their three children, Alexandra, Abigail and Maxwell all of Henrico, VA. Also surviving are her brother, Michael L. Scanlan and his two daughters, Heather Scanlan and Holly McGee of Virginia Beach, VA, her sister-in-law Mary Doughty of Willis Wharf, Va, sister-in-law, Mary Durham, of Montrose, WV and her brother-in-law and wife, William and Donna Schoonover, of Elkins, WV. On the Schoonover side of the family, she is survived by nieces and nephews, Susie Mumper and Amy, Tom and Ron Schoonover.  Pat attended the schools of Northampton County VA and graduated from Northampton High School with the class of 1964. She graduated from Fredrick College in 1968 with a BS degree in Chemistry and Biology. In 1975 she received her Master of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University. For several years following she also completed an additional 30 hours of graduate courses. Pat began her teaching career in Virginia with Portsmouth City Schools in1968 where she taught general and advanced courses in both chemistry and biology at Woodrow Wilson High School, I.C. Norcom High School and Manor High School. In 1976 the Schoonover family moved to West Virginia where Pat taught for 3 years at Coalton School and the final 27 years at Elkins High School for the Randolph County board of education. While in West Virginia she taught general and advanced chemistry and biology and also developed curriculums for courses in human anatomy and oceanography. During this time period she also taught night classes in biology for Fairmont State College. She was an inspirational educator who took great pride in her students’ achievements and success. Pat retired from teaching in 2006 and began volunteering for many of Randolph County’s nonprofit organizations. She was a member of the Elkins Rotary Club from 2007 until her death and served as President and was a member of the board for several years and chaired the grant projects committee. Pat served on the board of Youth Health Services in Elkins and served as the president of the organization for several years. She worked tirelessly for ArtsBank, Inc. which provided classroom art teachers after the local board had limited the funding for art education. She served as President of ArtsBank, Inc for several years and was the perennial treasurer for the Literacy Volunteers of Randolph County.  Pat loved to travel and she and Jim took several trips by automobile all over the U.S. and Canada but perhaps the best vacations were spent sailing on the Angelique out of Camden, ME. She enjoyed photography and her wild flower expeditions. She was the owner/operator of the family’s Gravely lawn tractor and could often be found mowing her lawn in the summer. She enjoyed playing cards and Friday evenings dining out with friends. Most of all she loved her family especially her grandchildren. Pat will surely be missed by all who loved her.  A celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on March 9, 2024 at the Rotary room in the Elkins YMCA. It will be an “Irish Wake” without the whiskey. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to ArtsBank, Inc., P. O. Box 1933, Elkins, WV 26241 in Pat’s memory.
