Obituary Preview: Lynnette A. Fox Wilhelm, 61, of Strasburg passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Lynnette was born on September 24, 1961 in Massillon and was a daughter of the late William and Marlene Erickson Fox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jeff “Whitey” Wilhelm in 2011; son, Gus Wilhelm and brother, Rob “Hoss” Fox.
Lynnette had been employed at Heinz in Massillon for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and taking care of her horses and the many plants she had throughout the house.
Lynnette is survived by her daughter, Crystal Jenkins of Dundee; sisters, JoAnn Fox, Pam (Randy) Schupbach both of Strasburg; grandson, Kane Peters and many friends and extended family.
Per Lynnette’s wishes, cremation will take place with no services or calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg is handling arrangements.

Obituary Preview: Zachary R. Chaney, 20, of Strasburg passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Zach was born on October 5, 2002 in Dover and was the son of Steve and Stephanie Booth Chaney of Strasburg. He is also survived by his sister, Courtney Chaney (companion, Joe Horstmann) of Mason, Ohio; grandparents, Connie Chaney of Strasburg, John (Kim) Booth of Leesville; uncles, Scott Booth of Dellroy, Brian Chaney of North Carolina, Chris (Kelly) Chaney of Carrollton; cousins, Lilly and Ethan Booth and John Chaney. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russ Chaney; and his aunt, Donna Rainsberg.
Zach was a 2021 graduate of Strasburg High School where he was a standout football player, earning a letter all four of his high school seasons. He was currently attending Walsh University in Canton and was a member of their football team as well. Zach was an incredibly hard worker, always lifting weights and getting ready for the next season; his dad built a home weight room, and Zach could always be found there working out by himself, or with his friends. He was a leader, and took great pride in helping his teammates, especially the underclassmen, improve their game. Off the field, Zach had a great sense of humor, loved to make people laugh, and was known for his infectious big smile. He also enjoyed playing video games and was a volunteer at the Strasburg United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. A celebration of Zach’s life will be held on Saturday, June 24th in the Strasburg Franklin Park, Pavilion 3 starting at 11:00 am with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the park on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

He was born on January 19, 1939 in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Lawrence and Viola Avesser Tuers. Harry was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Tuers on Novemer 29, 2013.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Youngman of Navarre, Mary (John) Burkett, Bonnie (Norman) Barr both of Beach City, Cindy Fort of Walton Hills; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. Per Harry’s wishes, his ashes will be taken to his home state of Maryland for interment at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Veronica V. “Roni” Miller, 75, of Strasburg passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 11, 1948 in Canton she was a daughter of the late Glenn and Agnes Eaver. Veronica was also preceded in death by her brother, Tony Eaver.
Veronica had retired in 2000 from Walnut Hills Nursing Home as an LPN after many years of service, and had also worked at the former Timken Mercy Medical Center. She attended Dover Alliance Church and Lakeview Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A wonderful and caring wife and mother, Veronica will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 52 years, Mervin Miller whom she married on May 7, 1971; children, Tony (Amanda) Miller of New Philadelphia, Michelle (Scott) Specht of Ragersville, Gloria (Steve) Conner of Sherrodsville, Anne (Jimmy) Harper of Strasburg; sister, Mary Beth Metz of Uniontown and 15 grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 4th in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at 140 South Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A private family funeral will be held with interment in the Greentown Cemetery.

Born in Dover Twp. on August 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Clara (Welsch) Rieger.
On December 29, 2009, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. “Murph” Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her son; Bruce Murphy; her sisters, Betty Alpeter, Kathryn Bixler, and Ruth Sieber; along with two infant sisters; her brothers, Bobby, Donald, and Ray (Josephine) Rieger; and her brother and sister in-law, Ken and Janet Murphy.
Lydia graduated from Dover High School. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Beach City. She loved baking cookies, crafts and quilting. She was a member of the Crazy Quilters.
She leaves behind her son; Tom (Gay) Murphy of Strasburg; grandchildren; Ryan (Mindy) Murphy, Shawna (Chad) Wells, Dakota (Jessica) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Brandt, Reid, Hunter, Kenzie, Lincoln, Maddix, Brice, and Adilyn; her sister, Joyce Espenschied; along with her sister in-law, Armella Rieger.
A celebration of Lydia’s life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. Friends can call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place next to Murph at Grandview Union Cemetery. Born on April 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert Emil and Madge Evelyn (Grimm) Von Kaenel. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rae Ann Squires.
Paul was a 1975 graduate from Strasburg High School. He retired after 35 years as a professional truck driver at Von Kaenel Trucking. He will be remembered as an easy-going, friendly, kind, patient, and funny guy. He loved his family and enjoyed a good card or chess game. Paul enjoyed music and was a collector of vinyl records. He loved Cleveland sports, Ohio State, and watching golf; especially the Master’s!
He will be missed by his loving wife, Mindi (Cappell) Von Kaenel; his beloved children, Garnet Paul Von Kaenel, Sophia Elizabeth Von Kaenel; his grand-puppy, Willie Nelson Von Kaenel; two brothers, Gary Lee (Barbara Ann) Phillips of Florida, and Robert “Bobby” (Beth) Von Kaenel of Dover; his sister, Janet (Max Ellis) Von Kaenel of Colorado; special friends, Jeff Bott, Johnny Gasperowich, and Lisa Walters; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His family would like to express their appreciation for the care he received over the past two years from Community Hospice. They are especially thankful for the gentle and kind care he received from his long-time caregiver and friend, Sonya Kohler.

Born on December 28, 1946 in Dover he was a son of the late Roger and Lorena Williamson Seibert. Glenn proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked as truck driver for the next 50 years, eventually retiring with WW Transport in Winesburg. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to drag racing events, listening to music and being with his family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vickie Diehl Seibert whom he married on November 3, 1968; daughters, Michelle Smitley of New Philadelphia, Tonya Barkheimer of Strasburg; brothers, Jerry (Denise) Seibert of Strasburg, Scott Seibert of Coshocton; sister, Tami (Vern) Warnock of Canada; grandchildren, Josh and Ashley Smitley, Brock and Lance Barkheimer; and special friends, Ron Runyon and Brandon Dailey both of Strasburg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4th starting at 12:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Rev. Jason Rissler officiating. Michael S. "Mike" Rieger - August 18, 1949 - February 24, 2023

Obituary Preview: Michael S. “Mike” Rieger, age 73, of Canton (Jackson Township), returned home to the Lord and his beloved wife, Bonnie, on February 24, 2023.
Born August 18, 1949, he was the son of the late John C. and Beverly (Bixler) Rieger. Mike graduated from Strasburg-Franklin High School, where he lettered in four varsity sports, was senior football co-captain, and played guard for the 1967 undefeated state champion Strasburg Tiger basketball team. The ‘67 hoops team was later inducted into both the Strasburg and Tuscarawas County Hall of Fames, and will be inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in June of 2023. Mike went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Kent State University, and his master’s degree in business administration from Ashland University. He was employed by Blue Cross in Canton for five years, and then by Canton’s Mercy Medical Center for 33 years, retiring as CFO and Vice president of Finance in 2013.
Mike gave freely of his time and talent on many boards and committees, including Stark County Meals on Wheels, Western Stark County Health Choice, and as a member of the Ohio Hospital Association Finance Committee in Columbus. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton.
Mike’s priorities and first loves were God and family. He always encouraged others to embrace both in their lives. He found great joy in family vacations and get-togethers. Mike was patient, kind-hearted, supportive and always willing to help anyone in time of need. Another of Mike’s passions was being in, on or around water; he had made just short of 500 fishing trips to Lake Erie, and later wrote a 300 page book on his adventures. Mike also fished in the other four Great Lakes, across the United States, in Canada and the oceans.
He is survived by his loving daughter Erika Drummond and her husband Mark; his precious grandchildren, Zack Oliger and Zoe and Bella Drummond - all of whom he never missed a chance to be with; his special twin sister, Lynn Fisher; his younger sister, Kim Draime; his step-mother, Elaine (Johns) Rieger; his step-sisters, Kimberly Higgins, Jennifer Steed and Melissa (Rick) Menges; his nieces and nephews, Matt Bitikofer, Josh (Stacy) Bitikofer, Patrick (Sara) Draime and Julie Draime; his step-nephew, Owen Menges; and his many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He made a profound impact on each and every one of them, whether it be through his broad wisdom, wit, silly jokes or entertaining stories.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Sue (Froman) Rieger; his brother-in-law, Glenn Fisher; and his step-brothers-in-law, James Higgins and William Steed.

Gary A. "Smitty" Smith - March 29, 1936 - January 31, 2023

Obituary Preview: Gary A. “Smitty” Smith, 86, of Strasburg passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
He was born on March 29, 1936 in Lewisville, Ohio and was a son of the late Charles and Sophia Kestner Smith. In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Smith Espenschied; brothers, Ferdinand, Wayne and Garland Smith; and his sister, Carolyn Smith.
Gary served his country with the United States Army from 1959 until 1961. Following his discharge, he found employment with Reeves Steel and retired 33 years later as a Foreman. Later in his retirement, he worked at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home’s as a Greeter for over 15 years, a job that he truly loved. Gary had a passion for sports, especially Strasburg High School Basketball. He started his career in 1972 being the official Scorekeeper for the boys basketball team, a job that would span the next 50 years, touching the lives of generations of young players. Smitty could always be found at the gym during practice, on the bus, or after a tough game giving his encouragement, advice or a joke. Gary’s career saw the Tigers win 637 games and make several trips to the regionals, and a state final four appearance. He was the recipient of the District 5 Basketball Coaches Association Distinguished Service Award in 2006, was the Official Scorekeeper of the 1987 Ohio High School Athletic Association State Basketball Tournament, was a 30 year volunteer for the Strasburg Football Program, and was inducted into the District 5 Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Strasburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020. Gary’s dedication to Strasburg Basketball was also recognized in 2017 with the establishment of the Gary A. Smith Contributor Award, which is presented to the individual who has made significant contributions to the Strasburg Boys Basketball Program. In his younger years, he was a basketball referee, baseball umpire and coached his son’s baseball teams. Gary was also an active member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where he was a Trustee, served as a Lay Leader for many years, and was a Delegate to the Annual Conference. Gary’s commitment to the Strasburg Community will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edna Yackey Smith whom he married on May 5, 1957; son, Kevin (wife, JJ) Smith of Cambridge; grandchildren, Ian and Adam Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6th starting at 10:30 am in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Wald officiating. For those unable to attend the funeral, a live stream can be found on the church’s Facebook page, Strasburg UMC Ohio. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Brenda Kay (Lienhard) Klein - November 22, 1943 - January 29, 2023

Obituary Preview: Brenda Kay (Lienhard) Klein, 79, of Beach City passed peacefully away under the care of Crossroads Hospice, Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Country Club Retirement Campus in Dover, surrounded by her family. Her death follows a period of declining health.
A life-long resident of Beach City, Brenda was born November 22, 1943, to the late John G. and Glenda (Eyster) Lienhard. Brenda graduated from Fairless High School in 1961. On June 23, 1963, she married Donald R. Klein who survives. Together Brenda and Don enjoyed traveling and following NASCAR racing, the Cleveland Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Brenda was active in Girl Scouts for many years; she was a troop leader as well as neighborhood and district chair and was a past-president of the Fairless Band Boosters. She retired from the Junction Restaurant in Strasburg. Brenda was a member of First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, and enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and completing word puzzles in her free time.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendi and son-in-law Clayton Waller of New Philadelphia; a step-son Donald L. Klein of Massillon, and his three children and three grandchildren; her brother J. Verne (Nancy) Lienhard of Beach City; sister-in-law Bonnie McMillan of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families, including a special niece Joni Koch of Beach City.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3rd starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Todd Gopp officiating. Interment will be in the South Lawn Cemetery at Beach City. The family will be greeting friends at the Strasburg funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm. Born on February 27, 1932 in Dover she was the daughter of the late Norman and Gertrude Godfrey. Ann was also preceded in death by her husband on February 11, 1999; and her son, Gary Yackey.
She had worked as a secretary at Zedmark in Dover for a number of years and also attended the Lakeview Baptist Church in Dundee. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Ann will be sadly missed by her son, Robert (Nancy) Yackey of Canton; daughter in law, Sharon Yackey of Sugarcreek; grandchildren, Joshua (Chrissy) Yackey, Sara (Chad) Hochstetler; great grandchildren, Bobby Yackey, Ashton, Kaitlin and Andrew Hochstetler.

Gary E. Roe - September 04, 1937 - December 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gary E. Roe, age 85, of New Philadelphia, and formerly of Bolivar and Dover, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, Dover.
Born Sept. 4, 1937, in Roscoe, Coshocton Co., he was a son of the late Emmett and Delores Snow Roe. Gary graduated from Dover High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he was employed by the Timken Roller Bearing Co., Canton, where he worked for 55 years. Gary also owned and operated the former Rollercade in Dover.
He was a member of Akron’s Grace Baptist Church, and was a devoted family man. Gary also served for years on the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Aside from church, family, service and work, playing golf was one of his favorite pastimes.
Gary is survived by his children, Ronald (Jan) Roe of Medina, David (Donna) Roe of Bolivar, and Kelly (Jeff) Sprankle of Akron; his step-children, Dean Sprankle of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Kelly) Sprankle of Akron and Kevin Sprankle of Minerva; his ten grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Marlene (Chester) Hall of Lebanon, Ore.; his brother, Raymond (Nellie) Roe of Salem; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Saundra McCartney Roe; his second wife, Madelyn Henderson Roe; his daughter, Susan M. Roe; his sisters, Sylvia Cotterman, Wanda Riley and Audrey Fritz; and his brother, Ken Roe.
Family and friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 140 S. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, on Monday, Jan. 2, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. A service will follow at 1:30 in the funeral home; Pastor Randy Brown will officiate. Obituary Preview: Matthew W. Gardner, 25, of Dayton and formerly of Massillon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 26, 2022 at his home from an undiagnosed illness.
He was born on August 26, 1997 in Akron and was the son of Todd and Susan Ritter Gardner of Massillon. Matthew was a 2016 graduate of Massillon Washington High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 2021. While at OU, Matthew met Ruthie Keller, who was the love of his life. Following graduation, he started his working career as the Activities Director at the New Lebanon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Matthew was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Massillon. In high school he was a member of the Tiger Swing Band, sang with the school choir and the Washingtonians Show Choir. At OU he sang with the Singing Men of Ohio (SMO), a university men’s chorus. Matthew loved spending time with his friends, rooting for his beloved Massillon Tigers and vacationing with his family to Cape Hatteras.
In addition to his parents and Ruthie, Matthew is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Ron (Carol) Gardner of Dalton; aunt, Julie (Rick) Mason of Dover; uncles, Terry (Pam) Gardner of Brook Park, Tim (Lisa) Gardner of Dalton, Mark Smith of Orrville; many cousins and numerous close friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Barb Ritter.
A service celebrating Matthew’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 4th starting at 11:00 am in the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Massillon with Pastor Jeremiah Sargent officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at Massillon. The family will be greeting friends at the church on Tuesday from 5-8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Obituary Preview: Wayne G. Bleininger, age 90, of Dundee, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 25, 1932, in Stone Creek, he was a son of the late Ervin and Bessie Metzger Bleininger. Wayne attended school in Stone Creek, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the former Zona Adkins on Jun. 23, 1952. The couple had three children and shared nearly 57 years of marriage prior to Zona’s passing on May 1, 2009. Wayne enjoyed hard work, and was employed by Cummins Diesel in Strasburg for 30 years. He had excellent mechanical ability and could fix nearly anything at work or home - and Wayne was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed it. Foremost, he was a dedicated family man who especially loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Wayne was a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Marilyn (Ervin) Sergeant and Elaine (Terry) Spidell, both of Strasburg, and his son, Frank (Lisa) Bleininger of Stone Creek; his grandchildren, Connie (Anthony) Garmany, Jeremy (Tracy) Bleininger, Ryan (Jessica) Bleininger, Kortney (Chad) Harmon and Vivian Goff-Pokladnik; his eleven great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Anna Mae Ribet, Betty Kaser and Donna Fox; his brothers, Lloyd and Richard Bleininger; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, and his wife, Zona, Wayne was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter; his sister, Agnes Penrod and his brothers, Raymond, Robert and Glen Bleininger.

Obituary Preview: Frederick W. (Pastor Fred) Grosse, 80, of Strasburg died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 6, 1942 in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Fred and Paula (Winkler) Grosse. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rudy.
He served as pastor at three parishes in Ohio, ending with First Lutheran Church in Strasburg from 1987-2004.
Pastor Fred graduated from the University of Buffalo and the Hamma School of Theology at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Following retirement from the ministry, he attended the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. His passion was astronomy and loved spending time with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 54 years, Jane Staib Grosse. They were married on July 13, 1968. He is also survived by his son, David (Gretchen) Grosse of Lexington, Ohio and his daughter, Karen (Matt) Keene of Raleigh, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Sarah Grosse, Gareth Keene and Anna Keene along with a brother and sister, Phillip and Paula Grosse.
Pastor Fred’s family would like to thank the Hennis Care Centre in Dover for their loving care for Fred. At his request, cremation will take place and private memorial service will be held at a later date in the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. Obituary Preview: James E. “Jim” Duvall, age 97, of Strasburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, in his home with his loving family at his side.
Born May 3, 1925, in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Howard and Mellie Charnock Duvall. Jim graduated from Dover High School in 1944, and soon afterward entered the United States Navy serving in the Second World War. He was very proud of his military time and was particularly honored to participate in an Honor Flight trip to the war memorials in Washington, D.C. Following his discharge, he returned to Tuscarawas County and married the former Harriet L. Haswell on July 11, 1947. The couple had two daughters, and shared 75 years of marriage prior to Harriet’s passing on September 13 of this year. Jim was employed by Eaton Manufacturing in Massillon for more than 30 years before his retirement.
He was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed basketball, following local school teams, and he especially enjoyed tournaments.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Sheri (David) Longfellow and Sandra (Rick) Price, both of Strasburg; his grandson, Ashley (Gaby) Price of Bath; his great-grandchildren, Noah and Piper Price; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed Haswell, Ronald “Nick” and Glenna Haswell, Georgean and Dick Lutz, and Bertie and Ron Gray; and his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Harriet, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Walt Duvall.
Family and friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 140 S. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, on Friday, Dec. 2, 10 – 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 officiated by Rev. Along with her husband, Betty was the co-owner of Smitty’s Bar and Grill in Strasburg. For over 25 years Betty was not only the co-owner, but at various points, the head cook, waitress and busboy. When she wasn’t working, Betty always found time to take care of Lynn and follow her other children with their school activities. She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg, and in her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and gardening.

He retired in 2003 from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier after many years of service; he was also a Franklin Township Trustee for 17 years and was a member of the Grandview Union Cemetery Board. Randy served his country with the United States Army and was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW, and the Strasburg American Legion where he was the Commander for 20 years, and was involved with the burial detail.
Randy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Kaltenbaugh Fearon whom he married on April 27, 1968; son, Scott (Meredith) Fearon of Strasburg; daughter, Molly (Nate) Lattimer of Missouri ; grandson, Corey Fearon; sister, Linda (Ron) Reiger of Strasburg; sister in law, Marsha Fearon of Dundee.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. Patricia worked as a nurse's aide at Hennis Care Center and as an aide at Harcatus Head Start in New Philadelphia. She was a proud foster grandparent. Patricia was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, teapots, and enjoyed gardening.
She leaves behind three children’ Beth Ann (Randy) Crouse of Strasburg, Robert Smith of N. Canton, and Marla Seevers (fiance, Bob Calderone) of Green; seven grandchildren, Randy Lee, Tara, Ashley (Joe), Nathan (Jennifer), Corwin, Samantha (Jacob), and Nicholas; her great grandchildren, Kirstin, Emilio, Rony, Camilia, Adelina, Cade, Dionisio, Aubrey, London, Ashlynn, Austin, Ryker, Kaisley, Bryar; great- great grandchildren, Emilio Jr., Audryana, Sonny, and Oliver James; along with her step-brothers, Jeff VanMeter and John (Kay) VanMeter.

Born on April 13, 1964 in Dover, he was the son of Jimmy R. Harper, Sr. of Strasburg and the late Diane Hensel Harper. He was a life-long member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg, where his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior has assured all who were close to Skip that he has won this battle with cancer and is now with Jesus.
He was a 1982 graduate of Strasburg High School where he played football and baseball. Skip was a Tiger through and through and bled Orange and Black; he never missed a sporting event his children played in, going so far as to be the football team camera operator for eight years. In addition to the Tigers, he was a huge fan of the Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing with all of his “sons." There are many memories spent with family and friends that were mentioned by him in his final days here on Earth.
Skip is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Anne) Harper III, Dylan (Taylor) Harper both of Strasburg, Chris Rentsch of London, England; proud “Grandpy” to his seven grandchildren, Karle, Khloe, Grace, Zachary, Landon, Emma, and Jeremy; and sister, Theresa McDonnell of Canton.
The family will be greeting friends in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg on Thursday from 5-7 pm. A service celebrating Skip's life will be held on Friday, August 12th starting at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ, Strasburg with Rev. Jason Rissler officiating.

Fred was born on April 8, 1929 in Strasburg to the late John and Ann Meiers Aul. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Fern Aul on February 14, 1990 after 36 years of marriage; daughter, Julie Schmidt; sister, Jean Zurfley and step-son, Rocky Boylan.
Fred proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean War as a Tank Commander. Following the war, he was employed at Zedmark in Parrall and retired in 1993 after many years of service. Fred was a very handy person who could fix just about anything; he was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed gardening. He loved playing euchre, and would play with family and friends every week for many years. He was also an active member of St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg.

Doris was a dedicated homemaker who also was a big help to her husband as they ran the family farm. She was a member of LifeWay Church in New Philadelphia, worked in the food pantry and was a member of the Rejoice Women’s Group.
A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Doris is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Robert) Stuck of Columbus, Carolyn (Dale) Bender of Freemont, Linda Deibel of Canton; grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Meredith, Joseph, Nathan, Kevin, Kristin and six great grandchildren.

Born January 23, 2002, in Marikina City, The Philippines, she was the daughter of Aileen Abenir Pershing and step-daughter of Randy Pershing of Dover. Alyssa graduated from Dover High School in 2020, and was currently in her sophomore year at Marietta College. She was also employed as a dispatcher with LPS Services at a refinery to help with her educational expenses.
Alyssa was bright, witty, quiet - but fun-loving, and made friends easily; she was much-loved by all who came to know her. She enjoyed online gaming, but also liked the outdoors, particularly hunting,fishing and target-shooting.
Alyssa will be dearly missed by her mother and step-father, Aileen and Randy; her boyfriend, Skyler Shuman; her aunts and uncles, Edel and Roderick DePedro, Gemma and Joy Lataquin, Jessel and Ryan Repalda, Cave, Kevin and Karina, Mike, Roger and Christine Pershing; her cousins; and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-brother, John Otto Pershing, on March 23, and her aunt, Lourdes Tee, on April 4, both this year.
