Obituary Preview: Maria Churchill, age 88, passed away in Fort Wayne at Townhouse Retirement Community. She was a longtime resident of both Fort Wayne and Warsaw. Born in Oberradling, Hungary on March 19, 1934, she was the daughter of Karl Lang and Josephine (Köeppel) Lang. Maria was married to John D Churchill on October 21, 1954; the pair met in Europe, eventually making their home in Warsaw. Married for 28 years prior to his passing in 1983, Maria and John share five children: John K., James, Ingrid, Valerie, and Teresa.A generous, giving person, Maria had a genuine love for others and rarely knew a stranger. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality and loved sharing time with her family - nothing meant more to her than her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking, often sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and family. Those who will miss Maria’s fun-loving, friendly spirit most include sons: John K. Churchill and James (Laurie) Churchill both of Warsaw; daughters: Ingrid Churchill, Valerie Churchill, and Teresa (Medrick) McClain all of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three siblings: brother, Karl Lang and sisters, Erika Marquardt and Anna Thorwart all of Germany. In addition to her husband, John D. Churchill, she was preceded in passing by her parents and a brother, Franz Lang. Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw is entrusted with Maria’s care. Friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, March 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Pastor Aaron Jones will officiate Maria’s Life Celebration service on Tuesday beginning at Noon with doors open for one hour prior. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

Edward Ray Herendeen - May 23, 1938 - March 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Edward R. Herendeen, lifelong resident of Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family just before midnight on Wednesday March 23, 2022, at the age of 83.Born on May 23, 1938, Ed was the son of Harry F. and Evelyn Herendeen. On August 5, 1960, he was united in marriage to Valda Krebs. They spent almost 58 years together before her passing in July of 2018. Ed spent most of his career working in shipping at Kimball Glass for over 30 years until his retirement in 2000. Ed was a big Chicago sports fan, enjoying both the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He also loved to watch NASCAR. Ed and Valda also spent their spare time traveling and bowling; the two were in a league together for many years. Those who survive to cherish Ed’s memories are his sons, Rich (Pam) Herendeen and Kyle Herendeen; grandsons, Tyler Herendeen and Brady (Ashlynn) Herendeen; and three great granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Valda; brother, Wayne Herendeen; and sisters, Anita Flannery, Helen Herendeen, and Alice Howard. Evelyn Marsh - November 01, 1927 - March 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Evelyn L. Marsh, a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away after a few months of declining health on Friday, March 18, 2022 at home in Warsaw. She was 94 years old. Born in Warsaw on November 1, 1927, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Shilling) Rarick. She had one sibling, Isobel Pfeiffer, who passed in 2014. Evelyn was a graduate of Warsaw High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from Ball State University. It was while attending Ball State that Evelyn met Cleon Marsh; the pair married on June 11, 1950. They spent more than 59 years together before Cleon’s passing in 2009. A caring, fun-loving person, Evelyn was a teacher by trade. She spent much of her career in First and Second Grades in the Warsaw School System. She also taught at the Adult Alternative Learning Center. Evelyn loved sports, especially basketball but mostly those which included her children and grandchildren. She loved and was quite proud of her family and truly enjoyed spending time with them; included in her family was one very special four-legged companion, Snowboy, which was fitting, as Evelyn loved animals.She is also remembered for her love of many types of music, from marching bands to percussion groups, and especially Jazz. She was a percussionist in high school and college, also giving private lessons. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Bridge, at which she was quite adept. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and loved to laugh.Those who will miss her laughter and zest for life include her three children: Debbie (Kevin) Plummer of Winona Lake, Randa (Rob) Coppes of Winona Lake and Greg (Ann) Marsh of Portage; nine grandchildren: Eric (Shanna) Ewert, Brodie Ewert, Trenton Plummer, Spencer (Lindsey) Plummer, Rhianna (Mark) Allen, Rachael (Ari) Franklin, Rily Franklin, Mathew Marsh and Erika Marsh and 13 great-grandchildren. Evelyn’s care is entrusted to Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where friends may gather for visitation on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 10:00-12:00 a.m. At 12:00 Noon, Pastors Gary Colby and Susannah Tulloch will officiate Evelyn’s Life Celebration. Beach, age 84, passed away quietly with her family at her side on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.Born on July 9, 1937, Lillian was the daughter of Daniel Wilks and Grace (Wicker) Wilks. She was one of thirteen children born to the pair and learned the value of hard work at an early age. She held many positions throughout her working career but is most remembered for her time at Korth Furniture, Holiday Rambler RV and Nappanee Wood Products. An uncomplicated and modest person, Lillian was never boastful or pretentious. She had a heart of gold and a kind personality. She enjoyed watching the birds and rabbits outside of her daughter’s home where she lived for the past several years. She also liked watching Westerns and Judge Judy on TV. Mostly, she enjoyed good food, laughter and time with family. Lillian was married for nearly 42 years to the late William Beach. The pair was married on March 26, 1954. Also preceding her in passing: two children, Terry Beach and Tonna “Toni” Metcalf; two grandchildren: Tracey Ingle and Jasin Beach and nine siblings. Those who survive with memories to cherish include two children: Theresa (Brian) Fry of Nappanee and Tommy Beach of Warsaw; son-in-law, Craig Metcalf of Larwill; sister, Dorothy Williams of Worthington, KY; two brothers, Steve Wilks and Harvey Wilks both of Webbville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.Care of Lillian and her family is entrusted to Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Obituary Preview: Michaell (Mike) A. Bumbaugh, of Warsaw, passed away on March 16, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital, Downtown, Fort Wayne. Mike was born in Warsaw on Jan. 6, 1947, the son of Max R. and Mary (Becknell) Bumbaugh. He spent most of his life in the Pierceton and Warsaw area. He was a graduate of Pierceton High School in the class of 1965. Mike joined the army in 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969; he was stationed in Panama most of the time where he drew classified maps. In 1970, he married S. Marlene Bumbaugh in Warsaw. They have been married 52 years this coming June. They have two daughters, Melissa (James) Willard and Monica (Jonah) Best. A hard worker, Mike spent 38 years at RR Donnelley in Warsaw. He loved his last position as a photo re-toucher. He always loved to tell jokes and said if he puts a smile on one person’s face a day, it made him happy. Mike loved talking to strangers and thanking people who served our country. He had a passion for music and had a large collection of all genres. Mike loved watching deer, birds, and anything that dealt with nature. He was very creative, painting old barns on canvas. Mike had several classic cars that he loved and was a member of the Crusin Hoosier Car Club for over 20 years. Mike was also a member of the American Legion Post 49 of Warsaw. Mike will be lovingly remembered by Marlene; two daughters, Melissa and Monica; sons-in-law, James and Jonah; his sister, Marjorie (John Vance); grandchildren, Michaela (Tanner Hampton), Keegan Best, Sydney Willard, Shelby (John Cheak), and Anthony (Crystal) Willard; and great-grandchildren, Bennet, Lincoln, Elli, Evan, and Ember, with another due anytime. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends he made over the years at Hardee’s, McDonalds, and the Wellness Center where he went every morning to exercise. His parents, Max and Mary, preceded him in death. All through his marriage, he would tell Marlene: “Trust me, everything will be okay.”Titus Funeral Home is entrusted to the care of Mike. John Henry Anglin - November 21, 1921 - March 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: John Henry “Jack” Anglin, Sr. age 100 of Clunette, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022 in his home. He was born in Warsaw on November 21, 1921, the son of Washington and Grace Anglin. Jack graduated from Atwood High School in 1937. Jack went on to serve our country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, Company E, 78th Lightning Division of the 311th Infantry, Cannon Company. He saw action in the Battle of the Bulge, Hurtgen Forest and the capture and defense by the Allies of the Remagen Bridge, a turning point in WWII. On December 31, 1941, he married Bette Mikesell in Winona Lake. They have four children: John, Jr.(deceased), Neal, Beth, and Sarah. Jack and two of his seven brothers founded Clunette Elevator, Inc. in 1951. Jack served others his whole life. He was an active member of Clunette United Methodist Church, founding member of Atwood Lions Club, Past Master Mason of the Blue Lodge, Plymouth and the American Legion, Post 49, Warsaw. He was past president of the Indiana Grain Dealer’s Association and of the Kosciusko County Fair Board. Jack supported the Kosciusko County Historical Society, serving as guide in the Jailhouse Museum. He drove cancer patients to appointments, Amish to Red Cross Blood Drives, and children to Shriner’s Hospital in Chicago. He was sexton of Stony Point Cemetery from 1955 to 2013. Jack was preceded in passing by seven brothers; a sister; their parents; son, John Anglin, Jr.; grandson Jeremiah and wife of 66 years, Bette Anglin. He is survived by his daughter-in-law: Lorraine Anglin(wife of son, John); children: Neal (Lyn) Anglin of Pistoia, Italy, Beth (Jim) Cooper of Clunette and Sarah (Larry) Payton of Fishers; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Jack’s arrangements have been entrusted to Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where friends may gather for visitation on Friday, March 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. At 7 o’clock, there will be a masonic ceremony, led by members of the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge. Jack’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 at Clunette United Methodist Church, 4227 W 600 North, Leesburg. Burial with military honors will follow at Stony Point Cemetery.

Richard Holbrook - August 20, 1932 - March 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard Lee Holbrook, known to most as “Dick,” passed away in his Warsaw home in the early hours of March 8, 2022. He was 89 years old. Born in Warsaw on August 20, 1932, Dick spent most of his lifetime in the Warsaw area. He was the son of Clifford M. and Mary (Haas) Holbrook and one of six Holbrook children. He was a 1951 graduate of Warsaw High School, joining the US Navy shortly after graduation. Dick entered service with the Navy in San Diego, California and honorably served four years. Formally, he was a pipefitter, but his job was primarily in damage repair. He served three deployments, two during wartime, and was honorably discharged in September of 1959 having earned the rank of Petty Officer.Dick was a hard worker who spent more than 41 years with Dalton Foundry. His longest position was as a molder; he retired in April of 1997. He is also remembered for his love of family and for his friendliness. Dick rarely knew a stranger and would talk to anyone. He was especially happy to visit with other veterans and was always sure to thank them. Dick Holbrook was united in marriage on May 12, 1956 to Julia “Julie” Grable. Julie survives at home in Warsaw. Also surviving is son, Tom Holbrook of Warsaw; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Small of North Port, FL; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three siblings: Robert (Kathy) Holbrook, Janice Owens and Shirley Hoffman. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Clifford and Mary; son, Randy Lee; brother Harold and sister, Mary Lou. Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements. Ray A Miner - November 07, 1943 - March 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ray Allen Miner sadly passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, March 8th. He was known by all as a loving and very social man. He was born in Warsaw, Indiana to Harold “Bud” Miner and Betty (Martin) Miner on November 7th, 1943. He married Gayle Schneider on the 20th of July 1968 and they spent 48 years together before Gayle’s passing in 2016. Together they are survived by their two sons and their wives, Jeff and Sherry Miner and Matt and LeeAnn Miner. Ray is also survived by his three grandchildren, Craig Miner, Danie Miner and Liz Miner. Additionally he is survived by his Aunt Catherine (Kate) McGowen and his sister-in-law Carolyn Miner, wife to his departed brother Don Miner. Ray was a Vietnam War veteran, who was extremely proud of his service in the entertainment branch of the Army Special Services. He was discharged from the army on the 24th of December, 1966 after spending two years in service. For eleven months of his service he was deployed in Vietnam working on USO shows where he was given the opportunity to meet several celebrities and gain fabulous stories to tell to his kids and grandkids. Ray joined the workforce after his service, and retired in 2009 as a Grain Broker for Central States. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, bowling, woodworking, golf, and spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren all have found memories of helping him pick up sticks in his backyard. Ray was a kind man who was well loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love for his family and friends.A viewing will be held at Titus Funeral home on Thursday, March 10th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. There will also be a funeral held the following day, Friday March 11th, also at Titus Funeral Home starting at 11:00. A graveside service will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery following the funeral. Ray’s family asks anyone who wishes to join them at the Etna Green Cafe (Ray’s favorite hangout) at 1:30 to share a meal and stories about Ray. Additionally, in lieu of flowers, Ray’s family asks that, for those who wish to do something, to donate to the Goshen Cancer Center in his honor.

Obituary Preview: Lester Calhoun, age 79 and a resident of Kosciusko County for more than sixty years, passed away in Tomahawk, Wisconsin on March 7, 2022. He recently moved there with his daughter and son-in-law. Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on December 24, 1942, Lester was the son of Ershel and Mabel (Boggs) Calhoun. He was one of 10 siblings, all of whom learned the value of hard work at an early age. When he was young, Lester worked for a tree service, among other positions. He spent most of his professional life as a truck driver working for G&G Hauling, Turner Trucking and several other local companies. He was married to Katherine Shepherd on October 8, 1962. They spent 55 years together before her passing in March of 2018. In addition, he was preceded in passing by his parents; two sisters, Laura Shepherd and Verva McCorkle; two brothers, Taylor and Thomas Calhoun and son-in-law, David Gardner.Lester is remembered for many things: his love for family; his relationship with Christ and membership at Harvest Community Church, Pierceton; his classic cars (mostly Fords) which he enjoyed working on and taking to car shows and his love for Country Western Music and Gospel Hymns. He also enjoyed going to local races, often helping around the track and snow-birding in Florida for several years.Those who survive include two daughters: Sandy (Duane) Mayhew of St. Germain, Wisconsin and Vicky Gardner of Winnsboro, TX; four grandchildren: Leslie (Tyler) Davis, Melvin Keplinger IV, Katie Gardner and Will Gardner; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Verline Nichols, Birdie (Ray) Wolfe, Pat Whitaker and Jessica Calhoun and brother, Johnny (Teresa) Calhoun. Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with Lester’s arrangements. Obituary Preview: James Ryan Collins, age 45 of rural Warsaw, passed away in his parents loving home on March 3, 2022 just after 11 a.m. Born in Prestonsburg, KY on February 20, 1977, James was the son of James Curtis Collins and Louvada “Lou” (Rose) Collins. His family moved to Kosciusko County when James was an infant; he grew up in the Sidney area and was a graduate of Whitko High School. While in school, James was involved in football, drama, marching band, and was a decorated wrestler. James was mechanically minded and could fix most anything from an early age. He was also a patriot at heart and, though he’d always felt a calling to serve our country, volunteered for military service shortly after September 11, 2001. He was a natural fit as a soldier and served honorably in an Army Ranger unit – his family was immensely proud of him for his service. Those who survive with great pride, loving memories and broken hearts include his parents, James Curtis Collins and Lou Collins of Warsaw; wife of 14 years, Jessie Moore; brothers, Richard W. Greene (Kathy) of Liberty Mills and Johnny Ray Greene (Marge) of Warsaw; sister, Jenny Lou Fowler of Warsaw and his twin brother, Curtis Brian Collins of Warsaw. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive, many of whom James was close with. He was preceded in passing by sisters, Tammy Sue Fitzpatrick and Barbara Ann Bell and their grandparents. Obituary Preview: Arthur Lavon Harman, 84, passed away to be with his Lord on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at 1:00am EST at his home surrounded by family members.Lavon, as all knew him by, was born on January 15th, 1938 in Warsaw, Indiana to W. Russell Harman and Ruby (Stookey) Harman. He was a 1956 graduate of Warsaw High School and went on to attend Ball State University and Grace College. His nickname was “Baldy” which was a result of a very bad haircut during his high school years. He married his High School sweetheart (Barbara M. Shaffer) in August 1959.He spent his lifetime in the Warsaw area and was a long-time teacher in the Warsaw Community School Corporation, teaching 6th grade at Lincoln Elementary and 4th grade at Harrison Elementary School. He was a long time Middle School basketball coach in the Warsaw School system. He also worked the family farm northeast of Warsaw.Lavon enjoyed spending most of his time playing with his grandchildren, mowing his lawn, and working in his garden after retirement. He loved to play cards and games, especially Euchre. He was a prankster and enjoyed telling jokes. He was competitive and very social, never knowing a stranger.He had been a faithful member of Trinity Methodist Church in Warsaw including singing in the choir, leading a number of Sunday school classes, and was a regular lay speaker. He was inducted into the Kosciusko All County Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.Those left with memories to remember and cherish him by include his wife of 62 years , Barbara Marie Harman [Warsaw], one brother: Lee (Sue) Harman [Warsaw], his sons: Doug (Nancy-deceased) Harman [Tampa] , David (Jeri) Harman [Muncie], Don (Shannon) Harman [LaGrange], and his daughter, Dianna (Mark) Allen [Leesburg] along with Gary (Glenda) Huff [Atlanta] who was a special “southern son” and including seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a large extended family.Lavon was preceded in death by his father, W. Russell Harman, Oct. 25th, 1987, his mother, Ruby Harman, April 3rd, 2000 and his sister, Leota E. May, Jan. 3rd, 2018, and daughter-in-law, Nancy S Harman, July 26, 2016. Connors, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on Wednesday February 23, 2022, at the age of 88.Born in Illinois on September 27, 1933, she was one of three daughters of Samuel and Lillian McKendry. Marilyn spent more than 30 years working at R.R. Donnelley in various positions. In her last ten years there, she worked as a security guard. Marilyn was a simple woman who enjoyed the small things in life. Simply spending time with her family gave her the most joy, especially time spent with her grandchildren. As a native of Chicago, Illinois, she was a die-hard Cubs Fan. She never missed watching a game, even in her later years. Marilyn also loved to read and play the lottery. Obituary Preview: Donald (Don) Wayne Conley, age 67, of Warsaw, finished his race Saturday, February 19th, 2022, at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne of Pulmonary Fibrosis.Don was born to John and Marceil Conley on Mother’s Day, May 9th, 1954, in Austin, Texas. He moved to Warsaw in 5th grade from Silver Lake. He was a 1972 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He retired from R.R. Donnelley in 2009 after 36 years. His favorite job was a Kim’s Foodmart/Lassus Handy Dandy, best known as the “Cooler Guy” for 20 years. On September 6th, 1975, in Greenville, Ohio, he married Lucinda A Miller. Together they raised two daughters, Mandy and Sheena. He was a beloved Papa to 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.Don was an avid golfer, having played for over 50 years and in 13 different states. He loved watching sports on TV and in person and checking out new cars. Don and Lucinda enjoyed traveling including many family beach vacations and visiting National Parks as well.Don and Lucinda attended Christ’s Covenant Church where Don enjoyed being apart of the greeter and usher ministries and loved their life group. Obituary Preview: Ruth A. Byrer, age 97, passed away quietly on February 7, 2022 at Paddock Springs Health Campus, Warsaw. Ruth was the daughter of the late Luther and Ilah (Hatfield) McColley. She was born in Clunette on December 29, 1924 and was one of three children raised in the family home. On July 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Dale W. Byrer, the only son of Homer and Mildred (Creighton) Byrer. Dale was the love of her life and they spent more than 74 years together before his passing January 9, 2018.Prior to their marriage, Ruth had attended secretarial school in South Bend and spent some time working as a secretary with the Studebaker Corporation. She was a hard worker with a tenacious spirit and helped her husband to care for their Stony Point dairy farm. Though she helped with most tasks, she took great pride in helping with their egg business and their large vegetable garden. After retiring from their Stony Point dairy and chicken business in 1987, Ruth and Dale moved to Hoffman Lake where they resided for the next 31 years. She was very involved in her church, Atwood’s Otterbein United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women where she held numerous offices including President. Ruth also enjoyed being active in the County Home Extension Club 55. She enjoyed time spent in Florida where she and Dale wintered for 17 years. Food was Ruth’s love language and she loved sharing her cooking talent with others – especially her family whom she loved dearly and of whom she took great pride. Those who survive include three daughters: Carolyn (and Richard) Ringeisen of Seneca, SC, Jeannette (and Richard) Findley of Solomons, MD and Myra (and Steve) Alexander of Milford, IN; five grandchildren: Heather Ray of South Carolina; Bradley New-Ringeisen of Virginia, Matthew Findley of Colorado, William Findley of Florida, and Amber Thomas of Milford; and two step-grandchildren: Matt Alexander of Ohio and Janelle Swihart of Florida. She is also the proud great-grandmother of nine. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in passing by sister, Mary Alice Lewis and brother, Clifford McColley.Ruth’s life will be celebrated in a memorial service to be announced later. Service details will be released nearer the service date. Final interment will be in Stony Point Cemetery. Obituary Preview: Charlene Mae Vaughn, age 96 and a longtime resident of Fort Wayne passed away quietly in the loving care of her family at home on Sunday, February 6, 2022.Known to most as "Char," she was the daughter of the late Fred and Louise (Mueller) Enichen. Char was born in Dixon, IL on May 11, 1925 and was a graduate of Dixon High School where she was a cheerleader and in the cymbal line of the marching band. Also in Dixon, Char met the love of her life John Thomas Vaughn, who most knew as "Jack." The pair were married on September 22, 1943 in Dixon. They shared more than fifty-one years together before his passing in March of 1995.A beautiful and caring person, Char is remembered for her fun-loving personality and her sense of humor. She loved to laugh especially while spending time with her large family - of whom she was extremely proud. In addition to raising her children, she worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company in the Credit Department for 15 years, retiring in 1983. She and Jack enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and spending time with their friends. She loved to knit, sew, crochet and needlepoint. She lived a full, rich life. Obituary Preview: James Edward Fugate, of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday February 6, 2022, at the age of 76.Born in Saldee, Kentucky on January 16, 1946, he was the son of Walter and Evalee (Farler) Fugate. Jim attended school in Kentucky until he was 16 and with permission joined the United States Navy in 1963. He served as a radarman and earned a technical certification while he was stationed on the U.S. England 2 during the Vietnam War. In 1967, he worked for the railroad. Jim bought a little house and settled in Warsaw in 1968 when he began working at Kimble Glass. In 1971, he married Yvonne “Vonnie” Sumpter. Jim and Vonnie ad a daughter in late 1973 and her death in 1975 left wreckage scattered all around the two survivors. Many coworkers and friends helped Jim during the first few years on his own. Jim worked at Kimble Glass for many years until his retirement in 2001. He worked there with 2 of his brothers and many golf buddies and other friends. He loved to fish on his boat or the shores of the many local lakes. He also enjoyed hunting, and gardening, but he loved to golf. He played at Rozella Ford for many years in tournaments with his friends. He taught his daughter about the game he loved to play. He set her up with clubs as early as possible - modifying clubs and re-gripping them to suit my size. And he took his daughter golfing. They spent time on the course walking and talking and he would teach and encourage her and they had fun competing and laughing. He spent a lot of time golfing with his daughter. In 1979, Jim married for a second time there were no children produced in the 2nd union. Jim and his second wife divorced in 1988 and Jim remained a single parent / widower until his passing. Jim moved to his dream home in 1987. He had woods, a pond, privacy, wildlife - he was proud and happy and spent a lot of time mowing in between raising his daughter working and his outdoor hobbies. His love, devotion, selfless generosity, and perseverance through tragedy and personal demons inspired his family. Jim also enjoyed hunting fishing, and gardening. Jim continued to maintain Vonnie's grave site for 46 years by refreshing the urns and flowers in May. Those who survive to cherish his memories are his daughter, Heidi (Fugate) Balanow; and sisters, Norma (Kevin) Fugate Gipson and Carol Caudell. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family member and friends. Obituary Preview: Gary Salyer, a resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Community Hospital of Anderson. He was 76 years old and the son of the late Earl Salyer and Marie (Poe) Salyer. Gary was born in Silver Lake on June 17, 1945 and was one of six Salyer children. He was a 1963 graduate of Silver Lake High School. Later, he was a graduate of Indianapolis’ Porter College and of the Indiana University School of Real Estate. Many would remember Gary from his career in Real Estate. He was the longtime owner of Warsaw Real Estate Service, later partnering with CBRE and eventually with Bradley Company before retiring. His office was longtime located in the former US Post Office on South Lake Street in Warsaw. He is also remembered for his friendly, social demeanor and for always finding the best in everyone he met. Gary was also very active in the community as a member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Kosciusko Board of Realtors – in both roles he served in numerous offices and board positions throughout the years. He enjoyed golfing and loved sports of all kinds. He was often known for cheering on the underdog. He was a fan of IU Basketball and sweet treats like chocolate covered cake doughnuts. Most importantly, he was a kind, gentle person with a giving, caring spirit; his children remember him as “the best dad ever.” He knew the Lord and was a longtime member of First Christian Church, Warsaw where he also served as an Elder.On November 30, 1973, Gary was married to the love of his life, Carol. Carol (Bowers) Salyer survives at home in Warsaw. Also surviving are two daughters: Dianna Poppe (husband, Darren) of Rockford, OH and Kathy Connors (husband, Tim) of Warsaw; eight grandchildren: Nicole Marsillett of Warsaw, Chadd Shumaker of Warsaw, Todd Shumaker of Warsaw, Michael Connors of Fort Wayne, Joshua Poppe of Rockford, Ryan Connors (wife, Kristen) of Warsaw, Nate Poppe (wife, Arielle) of Fort Wayne and Ethan Poppe of Rockford; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and brother, Bob Salyer (wife, Treva) of Nappanee. Born in Aurora, Illinois on July 16, 1953, Judith was the daughter of Hubert Langston and Vianna Mae (Norton) Dulworth. She spent her formative years in Tennessee and much of her adult life in Elwood, Indiana.While living in Elwood, Judy spent more than twenty-five years working at Dickey Nursing Home. She loved working there and built many wonderful relationships with the patients and their families. On August 6, 2005, Judy committed to a major change in life when she was wed to Dale Roberts, whom she had dated for several years. They made their home together in Silver Lake. Locally, Judy worked for Lake City Medical as a CNC operator. Judy loved to laugh and loved her family, especially her grandchildren who she loved to spoil and of whom she was quite proud. She also loved animals of all kinds, gardening and tending to the family orchard, often canning the fruits of her labors. She also enjoyed time spent outdoors and was proud to be a female hunter. In addition to her husband, Dale Roberts of Silver Lake, those who survive include daughter, Melody Hale of Elwood; sons: Allan Abbott of New Haven and Jack Abbot Sr. (Sarah) of Warsaw; stepdaughter, Maudie Roberts of Silver Lake; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Peggy Elliott and Deborah Dulworth and brothers: Mitchell Dulworth (Vickie), Hubert “Lee” Dulworth (Karrie) and Rick Dulworth. He also attended Alice Lloyd College in nearby Pippa Pass before moving to the Warsaw area in his early twenties. He was previously married to Loretta Hunter. Though they divorced later, they shared four children and seven grandchildren and had always cared about each other. In addition to Loretta who preceded him in 2020, Gordon is preceded by two great-grandchildren: Kyler Gordon Miller and Braelynn Ousley and two siblings: Willis Ousley and Anna Bojean Ousley. Professionally, Gordon spent many years with Whitley Products, transferring to DANA where he retired as an inspector several years later. More personally, he was a fun-loving, kind person with a good sense of humor. He could be serious when needed but was generally mild-mannered and big-hearted. He enjoyed game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and genuinely loved time spent with family. Survivors include four children: Mary Ann Ponce of Muscatine, Iowa, Gary Ousley of Pierceton, Chad Ousley of Pierceton, and Michelle Ousley of Warsaw; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Litsey of Pierceton. Gordon’s Life Celebration® is entrusted to Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where friends may gather for a visitation on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. On Thursday, his life will be further celebrated in a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
