Chris Neely - April 11, 1950 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Greenville)
Obituary Preview: Christopher "Chris" Neely, a man who crafted not only the finest woodworks but also the heartiest of laughs, has laid down his tools and taken up residence in the great workshop in the sky. Born on January 1st, 1951, in the music-filled streets of Nashville, TN, Chris spent his 73 years building a legacy of love, laughter, and impeccable dovetail joints. His final curtain call was in his beloved hometown of Nashville on February 22nd, 2024.
As a master carpenter, Chris was the man you'd call when you wanted a cabinet so fine, you'd think it was made by the forest elves themselves. But it wasn't just his skill with the chisel that made him a pillar in the community; it was his infectious chuckle and knack for turning every mishap on the job into a punchline. Chris was as much a craftsman of jokes as he was of wood, and he never met a corner he couldn't smooth out with a bit of humor.
Chris leaves behind a band of merrymakers and anglers in his family, including his beloved wife, Debra, who shared his love for laughter and somehow put up with his endless stream of dad jokes. His daughters, Jean and Elizabeth, inherited his twinkling eyes and quick wit, while his sons, Roger, Dean, and Fabio, are all the handier for having such a teacher. They can all drive a nail straight, but more importantly, they know the value of a smile.
Beyond his family, Chris was an avid fly fisherman, often found casting lines and tall tales with equal skill. His other passion was gaming, where he was known as the Gandalf of the game console, guiding many a pixelated character to victory with the same patience and precision he used in his craft.
In life, Chris was described as loving, friendly, and funny, a trio of traits that made him the best sort of companion both on and off the riverbank. His humor was the glue in every relationship, the finish on every project, and his legacy will be the stories told and retold whenever his friends and family gather.
The world might be a little quieter without Chris's laughter echoing through it, but the ripples of his mirth will continue to spread, touching all who knew him. As we say goodbye to Christopher Neely, let's remember that every splinter he pulled, every fish he caught, and every game he conquered was done with a smile that will forever be etched in our hearts.
