Harry Clinton Mason - June 02, 1946 - April 19, 2022

Departed: 04/19/2022 (Martinez)
Obituary Preview: Harry Clinton Mason, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, surrounded by family and a few close friends.   He fought a long hard battle with cancer yet kept a smile on his face and his humorous wit until just before his death. Harry was born on June 2, 1946, to Clinton Harry Mason and Dorothy Boyd Mason. He leaves behind his beloved Cindy, wife of 38 years; son, Matthew (Blythe); daughter, Chelsea (Jason) Wren; son, Joshua; grandchildren, Dallas Burton Mason, Mattie Reese Mason, Cruz Mason Wren, Cooper Wren, Carter Wren, and River James Mason; his sister, Carol Duchscher; niece, Celena Duchscher and nephew, Barrett Duchscher; and many more extended relatives.  Harry was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and quite often helped others and never told, if you can imagine him keeping something to himself, but those he helped know and tell!
As a young man Harry joined the military and was a member of the United States Army Reserves.  He felt it was his duty to serve his country if only for a brief period of time. He later worked hard all his life as an employee of Georgia Power, where he earned himself the nickname MudCat by the many folks he worked with.  Harry worked transmission lines, underground networks, overhead line constructions, and he trained hundreds of new apprentice linemen.  He also did accident investigations and was an expert witness for Georgia Power.  He was also an emergency volunteer during disasters and traveled the country doing storm restorations, from devasting ice, tornado’s and hurricanes.  He was most knowledgeable and could figure anything out, and as one dear friend at work said about him, if Harry told you a hummingbird could pull a 747, “you better get the rope.”
Harry was a member and spent much of his volunteer time with the Columbia County Merchants.  He especially loved hosting at the fair grounds annually and was always the go to guy if you needed anything, or needed to get something done.    Harry was also a former member of the Columbia County Recreation Board.  He spent much time with his children at Patriots Park and spent many years coaching.  He traveled with his daughter and son playing soccer about as many miles as traveling with Georgia Power.
Harry was a family man and he loved his children, treasured his wife and adored grandchildren.  He was talker, a friend to everyone.  His cheerful disposition and likable personality drew people in.  He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening, and in earlier years loved fishing and golf.  He was kind to everyone and his vivacious and giving spirit will be missed by many.  He loved a good practical joke, was always up to foolishness and never at a loss to offer up “Harry’s Helpful Hints!”    His constant companions who will mourn him terribly are his two maltese fur babies, Lucy and Jeddy, who were a constant source of love and snuggles to Harry during his hardest days. Our community has lost a very special guy with a quirky smile, a gleem in his eye and a giggle in his laugh that can’t be duplicated.   The family would like to give thanks to Regency Hospice.  The love, compassion, care and devotion provided by his nurses Alayna, Ronnie, Shawn and Ansleigh was so very appreciated and you guys are the best.   A very special thank you to Melissa, his private caretaker, you were the glue for many weeks that held everyone and everything together!
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907. The Memorial/Celebration of his life will immediately follow at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Thomas L. King Funeral Home.

Beverly Morgan - March 11, 1962 - April 06, 2022

Departed: 04/06/2022 (Martinez)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Beverly Swan Morgan, 60, of Martinez, GA went home to her Lord on April 6th, 2022.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Robert Morgan; her four children, Robert Morgan (Lyndsy), Teresa Morgan (Scott), Benjamin Morgan (Madelyn), and Parker Morgan; her mother, Louise Swan; her father, Richard Swan Sr. (Cheryl); her brothers, Artie McCormick Jr., Michael McCormick, Phillip McCormick (Patricia), John McCormick (Lisa), and Richard Swan Jr.; her grandchildren, Tyler, Lukas, and Alahna; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur McCormick; her sister, Marilyn Lakeman (James); her brother, David Swan (Doreen); her mother-in-law, Carole Morgan; and her father-in-law, Robert Morgan Jr..
Beverly Swan Morgan was born in Augusta, Georgia, where she continued to live throughout the majority of her adult life. She was a hairdresser for 35 years and owned Beverly’s Hair Parlor where it was more than just a hair parlor, but a gathering place for the community that many would visit—not only for the service, but for the love, joyfulness, and energy that Beverly brought with her everyday.
Beverly was known for her exuberant, positive attitude that brought laughter and kindness to all whom she interacted with. Beverly never met a stranger. No matter the circumstances, Beverly could be found with a smile and kind heart, focusing on those around her rather than herself. Beverly was dealt many trials and tribulations with her medical history, yet she set an example for how one can have joy and happiness in the midst of significant adversity. Nothing could sum up her outlook on life better than her favorite saying, “Happy Day,” which she would always end her interactions with regardless of the circumstances. She always put others above herself, and all that interacted with Beverly felt her love and thoughtfulness. One of Beverly’s love languages was giving, and as many of those touched by Beverly know - at some point and without fail, Beverly’s thoughtfulness would find its way to you in the form of gifts and words of encouragement. She was loved dearly by those who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 16th, 2022, at New Life Church, 250 Bobby Jones Expy, Augusta, GA 30907, to allow all who loved her to celebrate Beverly's life. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.
Florists please deliver flowers to the church.

Departed: 03/31/2022 (Martinez)
Obituary Preview: Donna Ruth Plants of Evans, GA would like you to know that her work here is done. On March 31, 2022, she retired to the most Beautiful Place. Her suffering was replaced with peace and joy.  Her mother and father along with family and friends who preceded her arrival opened their arms and welcomed her to her Heavenly Home. Releasing her with bittersweet tears in her daughter's home were her husband and love of her life of 40 years, Mark A. Plants; her son, Robert D. Baker (Shana); her daughter, Lorri Lynn Gotcher and her son-in-law Joseph Jason Gotcher.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kamal Iyer and Dr. Shyam Iyer for their part in this journey. Donna was a creative person who loved to paint, draw, and decorate.  She loved to travel and explore.  She never, we mean never, forgot a birthday, graduation, or anniversary of hundreds of people for years and years. She was somehow good at all of things at the same time and moved through life, good and bad, with style and grace.  She taught us to be the change we wish to see in the world and even had that bumper sticker on her car.
