He was a heavy equipment operator to mine coal, and loved his Goldwing motorcycle and Ford Trucks. John is survived by his loving children, his daughter Jennifer Sanchez, Ft. Worth, TX, and his son Michael Delp (Christina) of Coudersport. As well as his four grandsons; Nicholas Sanchez (Erin) of Saginaw, TX, Jacob Sanchez (Alexis) of San Pedro, CA, Noah Delp of Coudersport and Nash Delp of Coudersport. James Michael Liller, Sr. - November 29, 1983 - January 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: James Michael Liller, Sr., 38, of Coudersport, died suddenly Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at UPMC – Cole, Coudersport.
James was born on November 29, 1983 in Corning, NY, the son of the late Stanley J. Liller, Jr. and Elizabeth (Waltz) Liller of Wellsville.  On April 16, 2005, he married the former Tracy L. Fry and they have celebrated 16 years of marriage.
James graduated from Whitesville Central School, Class of 2003.  He was the general manager at Northern Tier Trading Company, Coudersport and previously worked for Morgan AMT, Coudersport and SMC Powder, Coudersport.   James was a member of the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church, the Eulalia Masonic Lodge #342, Coudersport, and the Roulette Rod & Gun Club.  He enjoyed coaching, hunting, fishing, football, was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and enjoyed being involved with his sons’ activities.  James coached youth football and soccer in Coudersport, volunteered running the down chains for football, and was a strong Coudersport sports supporter.
In addition to his wife, Tracy Liller, and mother, Elizabeth Liller, James is survived by three sons, James M. Liller, Jr., Oliver S. Liller, and Trenton J. Liller all of Coudersport; brothers, Donald S. (Laura) Liller of Summersville, WV; Gregory S. (Beth Almanza) Liller of Lakin, KS; very close friend that he loved as a brother, William (Beth) Manry of Friendship, NY; paternal grandfather, Stanley J. Liller, Sr. of Corning, NY; father and mother-in-law, Oliver and Kathleen Fry of Coudersport; sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Chuck Bartlett of Lewisburg; and nieces, Angel Liller of Wellsville; and Erin Bartlett of Lewisburg; and many other family and friends.
In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marlene Liller and maternal grandparents, Donald and Peggy Waltz.
A Celebration of James life will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm at the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church at the Social Hall.

JoAnne was born on November 3, 1936, in Coudersport, PA, the daughter of the late Edward M Gillon and Greta (Taubert) Gillon. On October 12, 2002 she married the Milton S Freeman former at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Coudersport, Pa. They celebrated 19 years of marriage, until his passing on October 17, 2021.
JoAnne was a life time resident of Coudersport area and a graduate Coudersport High,School, Class of 1955.  She worked on the Predmore dairy farm for 30 years, volunteered for the Coudersport Ambulance and was Summit Township Tax Collector.
JoAnne was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, President and member TOPS and enjoyed quilting, knitting, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and spending time with family.
JoAnne is survived sisters, Jean Gillon Chuvala of Burnsville, NC; Georgiana Gillon Kiley of Whiting, NJ; sister in-law Ann Predmore (Calvin) Smith, children, Carol Predmore Davis of McKinney,TX; Bruce Predmore of Hotchkiss, CO; John (Thelma) Predmore of Casa Grande,AZ; step children; Deborah (Robert) Hults of Millerstown; Steven (Linda) Freeman of Coudersport; Linda ( Victor )  Brown of Coudersport; Jeffrey (Mary) Freeman of Coudersport; Lorraine (William) Brown of Milan; Mary Jo Freeman of Coudersport; Emily Jo (Daniel) Skelton of Fisherville, IN; Coudersport; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and a great great grandson.
In addition to her parents and second husband, Joanne was preceded by her first husband, Homer Bruce Predmore on January 31, 1999, a sister Mary Gillon Greenawalt, a daughter, Cindy Predmore Leuer and a step son, Mark Freeman.
There will be no service or visitation. The family has entrusted the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East St., Coudersport, PA 16915 with her arrangements.
A celebration of JoAnne’s life will be held at a later date.

Byron was born on June 20, 1954 in Warren, OH, the son of the late Richard R. and Carol Ann (Carson) McCleary.  On October 18, 2003, he married the former Anne Constantine and they have celebrated 18 years of marriage.
Byron was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was employed for many years with Level 3, Coudersport, where he served in many capacities including as a communications tech.  Byron was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Coudersport and was a former vestry member.  He was a member of the Eulalia Masonic Lodge #342, Coudersport, and he enjoyed reading, history, baseball and time with his family and extended family.
In addition to his wife, Anne McCleary, Byron is survived by a brother, William (Teressa) McCleary  of Warren, OH; a sister, Gayle (Russell Putt) Cassidy of Austintown, OH; three step children; Kathryn (Thomas) Tangretti, Bethany (Randy Shantel) Redmond, and Mark (Silvana Angeli) Zedonek, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Christ Episcopal Church, with Mother Janis Yskamp officiating.

Crystal was a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 2001.  Earlier in life she worked many years at O.I.P. in Coudersport.
In addition to her parents, step parents and grandparents, Crystal is survived on her mothers side by a brother, Joey (Sashena) Leschner of Pittsburgh, Pa; sisters, Lacey (Allan) Hackett of Savannah, GA; Macey (Damen) Brodhun of Caddo Mills, TX; Kacey (Ranae) Gola of Coudersport, Pa; Chanel (Brady) Warner of Portage, Pa; and Alexia Connelly of Coudersport, Pa and on her fathers side by a sister Kimberly (Orkhan) Mammadov of Eldred, Pa;  brother Gary Leschner II of Rockton, Pa; sister Ashley (Jonathen) Fredenburg of Coudersport, Pa; brother Frank Leschner of Eldred, Pa along with lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 E. Maple St., Coudersport, with Father James Campbell officiating.  The family request that everyone attending the memorial service to please wear a mask.

Robert W. Tingley - August 19, 1948 - December 13, 2021

On December 13, 2021, Robert "Bob" Tingley took his final breath on earth and made his way to Heaven. The Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Father-in-law, and Coach - there will never be another like him.
Robert was born on August 19, 1948, in Island Falls, ME, the son of the late Milford (Clair) Tingley, and Helen (Dybowski) Tingley of Coudersport.   On June 26, 1971, he married the former Patti J. Burdick, celebrating 50 years of marriage this past year.
Robert graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of 1966 as a star athlete, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying from Paul Smith’s College.  He owned and operated his own surveying business in Coudersport for 41 years, and later enjoyed a part time job at Kaytee's, working in the greenhouse and feed store.  He was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, and was a successful high school basketball coach for many years, instilling not only his love of the game in his children, but also the many young people who were fortunate to cross his court.   Bob enjoyed fishing, winning tournaments across PA and NY like no other, and was an avid hunter, trapper, and outdoorsman throughout his life.  One of his simple joys, as well, was spending time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, Robert is survived by children:  Rebecca C. Tingley of Clarence Center, NY; Matthew A. (Mara) Tingley of Raleigh, NC; Kimberly L. Tingley of Nashville, TN; Jason M. (Christine) Tingley of Coudersport; Nathan P. Tingley of Bolivar, NY; Kellie C.  Tingley of Buffalo, NY; Sisters  Jacqueline (James) Tilley of Coudersport, and  Teri (Roger) McDowell of Port Allegany; Grandchildren Gracelyn, Logan, Lydia, Emily, Ethan, Allison, J. Clark, Makenna, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Robert was predeceased by his best friend Oreo, an Old English Sheep Dog that crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, with Rev. James Campbell officiating.  A private burial will follow in St. Eulalia Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of Flowers, the  family suggests memorial contributions in Robert’s name be made to Coudersport Sports Boosters, Girls’ Basketball team, Coudersport High School Business Office, 698 Dwight St., Coudersport, PA 16915, or to St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 Maple St., Coudersport, PA, 16915.

Katherine graduated from Port Allegany High School, Class of 1973 and worked as a nursing assistant at Cole Memorial for 43 years.  She attended the Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church and also attended and was married in the Myrtle Gospel Tabernacle, Shinglehouse.  In her younger years she was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Allegany.  Katherine enjoyed music and singing.
In addition to her husband, Kent, Katherine is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Kenyon of Coudersport; and a sister, Julia Lewis of Denver, CO.
A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at a later date.

Barr, Jr. of Austin; brothers, Erhard (late Wanda Long) Reese and David (Susan) Reese both of Coudersport; sisters, Loretta (late Frank) Battaglia of Spring Hills, FL; and Ellen (Larry) Goodwin of Coudersport; five grandchildren, Pamela S. (Jason) Crants, William D. (Emily Simms) Postlewait, Madison Bailey Langfitt, Abel James Langfitt and Olivia Grace Wehler a great granddaughter, Sutton Faith Crants and several neices and nephews.
In addition to her father, Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Rose (Donnie) Wilson and a brother, Fordyce “Al” (Angela) Reese, Jr. And her beloved dog Cubby.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on December 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Open Arms Church, Port Allegany.  A Private family burial service to follow at Reeseville cemetery.

Judith J. Burkhardt - January 10, 1943 - November 23, 2021

Obituary Preview: Judith J. Burkhardt, 78, of Coudersport, passed away Tuesday November 23, 2021 , at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.
Judy was born on January 10, 1943, Philadelphia the daughter of the late F. Herman and Genevieve (Anderson) Kummerlen.  She married John Barry Burkhardt on November 25, 1966 and they have celebrated 53 years of marriage until his passing on July 19, 2020.
Judy worked for Green Valley Farms, Haddonfield, NJ, Fox & Lazo Real Estate & Insurance, Haddonfield, Ryder Truck Rentals as a Safety Manager.  She meet her husband, John, while taking a self defense class at one of his Dojos in South Jersey where she would become a black belt.
In 1979 Judy and her husband, John, moved to Potter County, PA.  They purchased and operated the Coudersport Laundromat and in 1985 they built and operated Video Valley, Coudersport.   They would later build Cedar Ridge Development.  They would then own and operate JB Sales & Modular Homes.  In 1999, John and Judy purchased Coudersport Insuring Company, Inc., where Judy had been working.   Judy was with the Coudersport Insurance Company for 28 years as an agent, broker and owner until she retired in 2007.
Judy was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.
Judy is survived by a brother, Karl (Grace) Kummerlen of Maple Shade, NJ; a sister, Ellen (Joseph) Gangemi of Berlin, NJ, a brother-in-law, Paul E. Burkhardt, Jr. of Lindenwold, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerald William Burkhardt.
A Memorial Mass will be held December 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Eulalia Catholic Church with Father James Campbell, officiating.  Burial will be in Homer Cemetery.

She resided at Orchard Hills, Dove West in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Mary was born on August 1, 1922 in Odin, PA to the late Guy and Florence Crosby. Mary was raised by (Auntie and Uncle) Frank and Eileen Crosby. She is survived by children Keith (Donna) Morgan); Karl (Debra) Morgan; grandchildren Cassandra (CJ) Morgan and Foster Morgan. Preceded in death by late husband Joe Morgan; daughter Karen Morgan; siblings: Robert, Foster, Herbert, and Katherine. Mary graduated High School at Williamsport, PA; she then went on to Culinary School in New York, New York. Her first job was in Trinidad, she also worked for the Manhattan project. She married Joe Morgan. She traveled often with Aunt Eileen and Uncle Frank across America. She was close friends with her sister-in-law Isabelle Cavan. Mary and Isabelle had many family gatherings in Racine and Milwaukee. Mary brought up her three children with pride. She also was supervisor for Gimbels, now known as Macy's in Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee, she enjoyed boat rides with family and going to the Milwaukee Zoo. She loved to cook leg of lamb and rib roast for the holidays. Along with making wedding cakes, and ginger bread houses with her family and grandchildren. Those who knew Mary knew her sense of humor and sass. She was remembered for her love of family in Potters County and her vacations, especially family reunions at the Grange Hall in Odin, PA. Her last twenty years were in Eau Claire, WI enjoying her grandkids, CJ and Foster, as they grew up. Keith has entrusted the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N East St. Coudersport, PA with her arrangements, and friends and family are invited to pay tribute to her life from 12:00pm-1:00pm Monday December 6, 2021 in the funeral home, with a funeral to follow. Janara had a passion for photography which earned her photo being on the cover of the book “1911 The Austin Flood”. She also won numerous photography contests. Janara enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, taking drives through the country side, and sight-seeing. Janara is survived by her daughter, Mackenzie Hoppock of Ulysses; who was her pride and joy, her mother Deborah Davis of Easton; a brother David E (Eve) Davis of Gilbert; twin sister Sondra “Sandee” (Shane Snyder) Witmer of Coudersport; niece Natalie Witmer of Coudersport; and a great Uncle Barry Piatt of Austin.  Shewas predeceased by her father John Davis.
Those who knew Janara, knows she hated being fussed over and would rather give than receive. In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Janara's character, we ask that all who wish to participate, to make a donation to her daughter, Mackenzie.

Obituary Preview: John Richard Schmerbeck, 78, of Coudersport, formerly of Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his home in Coudersport, Pennsylvania.
John was born on July 3, 1943 in Sydney, Australia the son of the late John R. and Joan (Attridge) Schmerbeck. He was the eldest of eight siblings and of the Catholic faith.  On November 5, 1988 he married the former Tonya Lynn Hurd and would have celebrated 33 years of marriage on November 5th.
John was a veteran of the United States Navy, who served during the Korean war. He was employed by SKF Ball Bearing Company, where he spent 42 years as a gauge setter, QA inspector and shipping manager.  John was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8724, Alleghany Club, American Legion Fort Fetter Post 516 of Hollidaysburg, and the American Legion Potter Post 192 of Coudersport PA.
John was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. John was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan Those who knew John understood his connection to nature and specifically, Trout. We often referred to him as the “Fish Whisperer”. In the 1980’s, John was credited with re-establishing the blighted American Chestnut Tree in Pennsylvania. Penn State visited his trees each year in the fall to take the chestnuts to ensure their survival.
In addition to his wife, Tonya, John is survived by his Seven children: Daughters, Susan Kane of Huntingdon Pa, Lisa Lord of Birmingham, Al; Laurie Doiron of Amherst, N.H. and Tara Solar of Palmetto, Fl.; His sons Richard Schmerbeck of Pinellas Park Fl.; Ryan Butler and Dustin Butler both of Coudersport Pa.
John is survived by a sister, Cheryl Vold of Minnesota, and brothers Gary Schmerbeck of Iowa; Steve Schmerbeck and Mike Schmerbeck of Texas; Mark Schmerbeck, Tim Schmerbeck and Jeff Schmerbeck all of Minnesota; John had nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren along with many wonderful cousins nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Sunday October 31, 2021 from 1-2 pm at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East Street, Coudersport.  John’s funeral service will follow at 2pm with his brother, Tim Schmerbeck, officiating.

Mark was born on July 8, 1961, in Bentwaters Air Force Base, England, the son of the late Milton S. and Betty Ann (Palmatier) Freeman.  On August 15, 1981 he married the former Mary Jo Glassmire and they have celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Mark graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of 1979.  He excelled in track and football and was proud member of the FFA.
Mark was well liked, kind, compassionate, and an extremely hard worker.  He was the Director of Operations for UPMC Cole – Cole Care and helped build Cole Care from the ground up starting in 1985.  Prior to Cole Care he had worked for Pure Carbon and Molded Plastics Midland Optical.  He was a current Homer Township Supervisor and part owner of Freeman Family Farm LLC and M & M Freeman LLC.  He was also a past co-operator of Glassmire Snowmobile Sales for 25+ years.
Mark was a member of several organizations and activities including: St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Potter County Snowmobile Club, Lifetime member of the N.R.A, an alumni member of the Denton Hill Ski Patrol, former member of the Coudersport Sports Boosters, a former Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop 536 and proud to help his 3 sons and several other scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout. He coached baseball, football and soccer for his sons and enjoyed attending their events.  Mark enjoyed hunting, maple syrup production, boating and camping at Kinzua, snowmobiling, making wine, cooking, vacations to the beach, and spending time with his family, friends and grand dogs.
In addition to his wife, Mary Jo, Mark is survived by sons, Taylor (Danielle) Freeman of Washington, PA; Dr. Kyle (Jillian) Freeman of Iowa City, IA; Mitchell (Nicole Bowmaster) Freeman of Coudersport; siblings, Deborah (Robert) Hults of Millerstown; Steven (Linda) Freeman of Coudersport; Linda (Victor) Brown of Coudersport; Jeffrey (Mary) Freeman, of Coudersport; Lorraine (William) Brown of Milan; Emily Jo (Daniel) Skelton of Fisherville, IN; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, his Cole Care Family and his grand dogs, Hickory, Josie and Timber.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded by his in-laws, Lewis and Edythe Glassmire and his best friends, his chocolate Labrador Retriever, Cocoa and black Cocker Spaniel Misty.

Vera was born on February 13, 1925, in Conifer, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Esther L. (Schoonover) Whitney.  She married Robert B. McConnell on October 12, 1946 and celebrated 41 years of marriage until his passing on November 11, 1987.
Vera graduated from Coudersport High School and over the years worked for; Galeton Productions, Goodrich Ford Motor Co., Coudersport Borough as the Borough Secretary, MHMR Mental Health, Coudersport, and as a financial secretary for Pennsylvania Lumber Museum Association.
Vera attended the Sartwell Creek Union Church where she also sang in the choir. She was the Treasure of the Central Grange, one of the founders of the Potter Tioga Maple Producers Association, one of the founders of the Maple Festival with her husband, Robert.  She loved collecting stamps, quilting and spending time with her family.
Vera is survived by seven children, Robert (Toni Marzola) McConnell of Ithaca; Elaine (Charlie) Karichner of Mill Hall; Patricia Kaple of Olean; Jeffrey A. McConnell of Coudersport; Susan (Tim) Watson of Coudersport; Karen “Midge” Ingalls of Mechanicsburg; and Melody (Kurt) Smith of McElhattan; sisters, Leah (Phil) Kio of Roulette; Beverly Anderson of Prairie du Chien, WI; 30 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Vera was preceded in death by sons, Rex Arthur McConnell and Dean Forest McConnell, brothers, Erwin and DeForest Whitney, sisters, Norma Varney, Florence Beach, Alice Work, and four grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects November 6, 2021 from 11:00am to 1:00 pm at the Gospel Tabernacle, 420 Route 6 West, Coudersport.  Vera’s funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Allen Long, officiating.  Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery.

Milton graduated from the one room school house in Sweden Valley.  He is a retired Master Sergeant of the Air Force retiring in 1971 after 20 years of service, serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Milton was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, the Eulalia Masonic Lodge #342, the American Legion, Potter Post #192 and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, camping, working in the outdoors and spending time with family.
