Spankey was a beautiful soul who loved to brighten others day. He took pride in being a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, friend and so much more to others. He was always in good spirits and love to tell a joke every chance he got. He mainly spent his spare time surrounded by family and friends. Spankey was a kid at heart, so he enjoyed playing with his sons and visiting arcades, zoos, etc. He watched football. His favorite teams were Clemson and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a passion for martial arts and trained at Marty Knights. He wanted to be an instructor someday and would teach his sons and nephews karate moves. God was the center of his life, and his favorite scripture was “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17.
Spankey leaves to cherish affectionate and loving memories: his wife, Tequila Turman; children: J’merion Turman, Karter Johnson, Kyhrie Jones, and Kayceon Turman: two bonus sons, Tyderrius Telford and Kobe Telford: a sister, Lakisha E Turman; his brothers, Ryan Pickens, John O Turman, Johnathan Mackey, Johnny Mackey, Dezmond Miller, and Antwan Turman; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Spankey was proceeded in death by both his paternal grandparents, Jesse J. Turman and Henrietta B. Robinson; both his maternal grandparents, Warren J. Pickens and Inez Pickens; his brother, Christopher “DJ” Turman; his uncle/godfather, Jesse J. Turman Jr, and his aunt/godmother, Pamela Turman; as well as his cousin/brother, Demario “Shun” Mayfield.
Funeral service for Mr. John Turman will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary chapel.

Obituary Preview: Prophetess Betty Jo Hall, loving wife of Howard “Jackie” Hall and mother of Nilesha Nicole (Thomas Williams) and Howard Danielle (Jennifer), went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, May 3, 2024. Betty Jo was an Anderson native, graduate of Westside High School, attended Clemson University, and was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church from childhood until early adulthood. She was a selfless and devoted Jesus follower who poured her love into others in the community. Betty Jo spent several hours a day studying the Word of God and in thoughtful prayer. For over 40 years, Betty Jo preached the gospel and was a pillar of many churches in the area. She was a retired school teacher from the Anderson County School District, where she taught for over 20 years in numerous elementary, middle and high schools including Varennes Elementary, Lakeside Middle, and Westside High School. She enjoyed teaching kindergarten and particularly sharing her love of reading with children. After retiring from the school system, she worked as the Activity Director for the Country Heritage Assisted Living Facility, was a fierce advocate of helping others obtain disability benefits, and worked as a disc jockey for a local Gospel Radio Station. Betty Jo was a member of the Anderson Branch-James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America, enjoyed bowling, watching gymnastics, was an avid reader, and loved to cook, especially “Million Dollar Pie.” Most importantly, Betty Jo and Jackie shared time together ministering to others and guiding people in their spiritual walk.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jonathan Johnson and her mother Glenda Craft Johnson, sister Brenda Johnson Crenshaw, grandparents Samuel and Kathleen Johnson and Grace Craft Richey.
Betty Jo is survived by her husband, Howard “Jackie” Hall, daughter Nilesha Nicole Williams (Thomas), and son Howard Danielle Hall (Jennifer); and an Aunt, Camilla Richey. Her surviving siblings include: John Johnson (Shannon), Wayne Johnson (Croslena), Joe Michael Johnson (Aileen), Johnny Johnson (Frances), Patricia Ann Craus (Florian), Juanita Johnson Scott, Hannah Johnson, and Shaina Richard (Jarvis); and nieces and nephews.
The Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Hall will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson. Internment will following at Westview Cemetery.

Michael was proceeded in death by his mother, Sylvine Carson; his grandparents, Coeaver Hudson Ravinell, Gladys and Frank Miller.
Michael had a special bond with his niece, Nicole Carson (Whoda). They had a bond like no other. Michael also had a long time friend, Karen Calhoun.

Obituary Preview: Bobbie Strother Little was born on April 6, 1938 and entered eternal rest on April 8, 2024. She was born in Abbeville County to the late John Howard Strother and the late Minnie Crawford Strother. She was a graduate of Geer Gantt High School Class of 1956 and she was the class Valedictorian. After years of service, she retired from the Anderson County Department of Social Services. After her retirement, she loved working in her yard and planting or potting flowers. She was fashionably known at the church for wearing matching hats, suits, shoes and handbags. She was often the taxi driver and after-school pick-up for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Bobbie was married to the late Charles Little for 34 years.
She leaves to cherish - her daughters, Lisa (Tommy) Jackson of Anderson, SC, Regina Lynn (Tyrone) Thompson of Belton, SC and Brenda Elaine Scotland of Anderson, SC. Her sons include Mark Strother of Anderson, SC and Michael (Iris) Little of Greenville, SC, and a niece, Sally Strother of Mitchellville, Maryland. Grandchildren reared in the home Latoya Thompson, Anderson, SC, Marcus Thompson, Boston, Massachusetts, Michael (Tiffany) Williams, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Rashaka Caldwell.  And a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A very special nephew, Wayne Strother, niece, Evelyn Strother, and one Sister-In-Law, Everlener Strother.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Annie Louise Williams and Essie Nelson, her brother, Eugene Strother, one granddaughter, Brianna Strother, nephews, Anthony Strother and Terry Baskin.

Obituary Preview: Erick Alphonzo Slade was born February 22, 1978 at the family home on Leslie Road in Pelzer, South Carolina to Ruby Slade. His Grandmother Emma Lois Slade delivered him with Cassandra, Joey, and Monica by her side. He spent his childhood in Williamston South Carolina and attended Palmetto Schools until he graduated with the class of 1996. As a child Erick attended Mt. Olive FBH church formerly know as Victory FBH church in Williamston SC. Erick was employed with Bosch twice in his life, serving over 20 years with the company, before making a career change to drive a school bus and be a bus aid for Anderson School District one.
Erick enjoyed hobbies such as riding his motorcycle, listening to R. Kelly, watching college football, swimming, bowling, skating, playing madden football video games, and occasionally trying to catch a fish. His favorite of all, was spending time with his family.
Erick is survived by his daughters Nyleigha Nicole Slade and Lynleigh Rayne Slade with common law wife Brittany N. Garrison of Piedmont SC, his Mother Ruby Slade of Williamston SC, His Grandmother Emma Lois Slade of Williamston SC, Sister Denise Gambrell of Charlotte NC, Niece Erin Brianne Weldon of Pendleton SC, 2 great nephews, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. He is preceded in death by his Brothers Andre’ Slade, and Karee Rutledge, Grandmother Corine Sullivan, Grandfather Carlton Joseph Slade Sr., his father, and uncles.
Erick departed from this life peacefully on April 8th, 2024 with his mother Ruby and Brittany by his side.

She is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Arnold, and father of the home, Jimmy Brown; her mother, Bertha Brown; her brother, Jimmy Ray Burns; and a son, Jeremy Burns.

He leaves behind a daughter, Gwen Bradley of Anderson, SC; his two sisters, Anna Jean Robinson of Sylam, CA, Cheryl Tuner of Palm Desert, CA; his brother, Monroe (Sarah) Scott of Pendleton, SC; 6 grandsons and 11 great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Scott, Stella Scott Spear, and Janice Rainey, two brothers, Harry Scott and James Scott, and two grandsons, Terrance Smith and Landis Osbey.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John D. Janto and Sam Allen Hardy.

Three granddaughters: Asha Williams, Krishanna Roebuck, and Zahari Wright. One grandson, Keshawn Martin. Three special children that reared in the home, Tonette Lyons, Jaden Clayton, and Janasia Clayton.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Frankie Moore of Detroit, Mich., Teresa Merritt of Anderson SC, Dorothy Jones of Carthage TN, and Brenda Paul of Anderson SC. One brother Clarence (Wanda) Burk of Anderson SC and a host of Family and Friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Sara Burk Jr., Grandparents, Benjamin Burk and Minnie Henderson and Clarence and Eliza Jane Montgomery, brothers, Roy Montgomery and Benjamin Burk, and one sister, Sara Ogelsby.

Geraldine worked many years at JP Stevenson, being one of the last loyal employees to close the facility. She had a very soft spot for her family, the love she had for her son and granddaughter was indescribable. During her journey she developed a strong relationship with God and became a member of Jefferson Chapel AME Church where Leroy Pearson is pastor.
She enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching the stories (God forbid she missed an episode), shopping and spending time with her two dogs Oreo and Tigger. In her later years, she developed a love for traveling, going from the east coast to the west coast with her son right by her side, also traveling to Rochester, NY to spend time with extended family.
Her legacy will continue to carry on through her one and only son, Kelvin Roebuck (Tyese) of Cheltenham, MD; one brother, Kenneth Roebuck (Roberta) of Anderson, SC; one grandchild, Kontessa Roebuck and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her sister Margie Roebuck and brothers Marshall, Jr., Willie and David Roebuck.

Chas enjoyed capturing moments through his lens as a novice photographer, finding beauty in the simplest of things. He had a keen ear for music and an appreciation for the finer details of cannabis, earning him the title of music and cannabis connoisseur.
