Kevin T. Bendel Sr. - April 10, 1963 - May 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Kevin T. Bendel Sr., age 61, of Bloomingdale, NJ died on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Chilton Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was born and raised in Paterson, NJ where he started his successful construction company at the age of seventeen. Kevin was a skilled carpenter who eventually built his home in Bloomingdale, NJ where he and his childhood sweetheart Lisa raised their two children. His boundless generosity extended to his family and close neighbors. He was always willing to help in their time of need. He was an avid IndyCar Series fan, but his biggest joy was spending time with his sons and family.
His loving wife, Lisa A. Bendel, and his two devoted children; Kevin T. Bendel Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Drew J. Bendel of Bloomingdale, NJ, survive Kevin. He is also survived by his mother, Emma A. Bendel of North Cape May, NJ, his siblings, Cliff Bendel, Kenny Bendel and his wife Lee of North Cape May, NJ, Christine Marino of Totowa, NJ, Kerry Bendel and his wife Deborah of Westerlo, NY, sisters-in-law, Tammy Betts and her husband Michael of Lavallette, NJ, and Linda Fitzgerald and her husband Ricky of West Milford, NJ. Twenty-two nieces and nephews and nineteen great nieces and nephews also survive him. His father Clifford N. Bendel and nephew James Marino predeceases him.
The loss the family is feeling is immeasurable. His memory will be eternal.
Services are being held at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ 07405. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM followed by a blessing and tributes. A private cremation will be performed. Thomas Alfred Jordan - June 05, 1945 - May 02, 2024

Obituary Preview: Thomas Alfred Jordan passed away May 2nd, 2024 at the age of 78. Born June 5th, 1945, to the late Alfred Jordan and Anne Carluccio Jordan in Jersey City, NJ.
Tom served in the Army during the Vietnam War and Army Reserves, 1965-1972. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Business Degree and was a successful businessman and small business owner of JTA Transportation.
Tom was a devout Christian, he raised a family in Montville, NJ then resided later in life in Secaucus, NJ. He was a lover of music, especially Frank Sinatra and the like, and regularly enjoyed nights out dancing. He was an avid fan of Horse Racing, and a NY Yankee and NY Giant fan. His outgoing personality and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Tom is survived by his two sons., Todd Jordan, and Thomas Jordan, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 from 4pm-8pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. Military Honors presentation will be at 7:30pm also at the funeral home.

James Harold Anderson - April 14, 1944 - April 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: James Harold Anderson, age 80, of Kinnelon formerly of Henderson Nevada died suddenly at his home on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Jim was born April 14, 1944 in New York City, the son of the late Joseph and the late Betty Jean (Tubbs) Anderson.
James had a 30 year career in the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam war where he did two tours and also served in operation Desert Storm. In addition, he served as an independent duty sailor for 20 years serving in Gaeta, Italy. He received two Meritorious Unit Commendation awards and the Southwest Asia Medal with one bronze star. Jim graduated Butler High School in 1962 and prior to that he was one of the first graduating classes from Stony Brook elementary school in Kinnelon, New Jersey.  Jim loved to fix things around the house and was known to paint and make architectural drawings. A little known fact was that after his retirement from the Navy, he established a business in Nevada making slot machines for Las Vegas casinos. In recent years he spent much of his spare time volunteering for local animal shelters .
He is survived by his devoted wife of 13 loving years, Toni Fraticelli -Anderson; his beloved granddaughters, Christina and her husband Jamie; Amy and her husband Cliff; and Sabrina; along with his two cherished, great granddaughters, Haley and Brittany. He is also survived by his sisters,  Pamela and Pat of Mount Bethel, PA and Penny and Bonnie of Hudson, FL; and one brother,  John of Apache Junction, Arizona.

Craig was born on June 9, 1990, to parents James A. and Elaine P. Doka at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ, and is survived by his parents, devoted brother, Ryan Doka, sister-in-law, Kristen, devoted niece, Isabella, and beloved fiancée of ten years, Amanda Mazzocchi, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and loving canine companions, Dunkin and Nikko.
Craig enjoyed life to the fullest and his contagious smile lit up the room. Family and friends were at the center of everything he did. He was an entrepreneur who started Status Vapes, LLC with his brother, Ryan, in Morristown, NJ. His true passion was food, which led him to open his own catering business with his fiancée, Amanda. Together, they traveled all over the state of New Jersey for events. His hobbies included hunting and fishing with his father and friends, baking and sharing recipes with his mom, and four wheeling with his brother. He and his fiancée also enjoyed traveling to many destinations around the country to try new restaurants. Combining one of his personal interests with his loving personality, one of Craig’s proudest moments was having the opportunity to cook for veterans of the United States military. He was a man of many skills and interests who always loved to give back, and he will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in Craig’s memory at a later time, with updates to follow on social media. In remembrance of Craig’s life and love, the family has set up a foundation and asks that any charitable donations be made to the “Craig G. Doka Memorial Foundation”. Donations may be sent to P.O. Obituary Preview: Dillon J. Maher, 22, of Highland Lakes, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 27, 2024. He was born on May 30, 2001, in Pequannock, NJ. The son of Kieran and Susan (Tawpash) Maher. He attended Vernon Township High School. He was a member of the town lacrosse and basketball team. He worked at Perona Farms in Andover, NJ and UPS in Parsippany, NJ.
Some of the most profound qualities of Dillon were his gentle soul, endless smile, giant bear hugs and his ability to be the grand protector and nurturer of unconditional love towards his family and friends. His passion was spending time with his brother Kyle, friend Joey, girlfriend Kate, friends, family and adored his cat, Rosie. He enjoyed activities such as: cornhole, basketball, weightlifting, playing poker, playing pool, snowboarding, hanging out on the island, Grandma’s Halloween parties at Fayson Lakes, going on trips with family to Disney, Hershey Park, Great Adventure, and apple picking. Dillons journey with us may have ended, but the footprints he left on our hearts will never fade.
Dillon is predeceased by grandmothers Margaret (Meehan) Maher and Pamela (Frazier) Tawpash. He is survived by his parents Kieran and Susan (Tawpash) Maher, his brother Kyle Maher of Highland Lakes. He is also survived by his grandfather’s Joseph Maher and William Tawpash; aunts, uncles and cousins as follows: Mary (Maher) & Anthony Germinario, cousins Anthony and Aleah Germinario; Brian & Brenda Maher, cousins Connor, Gavin, Jeanette, and Marybeth Maher; Sean & Noel Maher, cousins Brendan and Megyn Maher, Colleen & Frank Marcantonio, cousins Breanna, Marissa, and Savanna Marcantonio; Cathy & Mike Costa, cousins Joseph, Tyler and Casey Costa; Bill & Laura Tawpash, cousins Ryan, McCauley (Tawpash) Evans and Hunter Grass; Tommy & Chrystal Tawpash, cousins Maximus and Bodhi Tawpash.

George J. Jones, age 72 of Butler, NJ died peacefully Monday, April 22 2024 after a short illness in Pennsylvania. Mr. Jones lived in Butler all his life up until his move to Pennsylvania 9 months ago to spend time with his niece and family till his passing.
George worked in the Kinnelon School District as a janitor and enjoyed everyone. He was a strong willed  and independent person.  He loved his scratch off tickets and going to the newsstand in Bloomingdale everyday to spend time with his friends.
George is survived by his loving nieces Michelle Hogen and Colleen Jones- Erazo  and nephew  Richard Jones.
The last 9 months he was with us he was happy, peaceful and got to fulfill his life to the end. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed everyday.

Richard earned a B.A. from William Paterson University in 1975, he was a math professor at Passaic County Community College from 1974-2007, he was also a management consultant and small business owner from 1975-1997. Richard was elected Vice President of the Passaic County Historical Society and Vice President elect of Lamberts Castle Historical Society. Richard loved the Lord, and was a member of the Chapel in Lincoln Park, NJ, he also enjoyed traveling.
Richard is survived by his loving brother Ronald Townsend of Lewes, Delaware as well as many family members and friends.

Mrs. Mitchell was born May 24, 1938, in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and the late Ruth (Dubuque) Stone.
Nancy was a self-employed seamstress. She wore her heart on her sleeve and was always baking, sewing or doing something for others. She absolutely loved to sew and make patch quilts all the time. She was the glue to this family and always had a smile on her face when her family was around. No-one would ever go hungry when the holidays came around because she would make enough for an army! She fought a good fight, but it was time to meet all her departed family members on the other side. She will be greatly missed, and the world just won’t be the same without her. May she rest in peace, till we meet again.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 loving years, Lawrence Mitchell, her beloved children, Scott and his fiancée Sue DiNallo, Kathy Broedlin and Kimberly Mitchell, her dear siblings, Larry Stone and Sally Garrant, her cherished grandchildren, Rudi Broedlin and wife Kelly, Karen LoRusso and husband Paul, Ryan Brodelin and wife Abby, Scott Mitchell and fiancée Adrienne Evering, Michael Cardwell, Ashley Blackburn and husband Trevor, Sarah Pianettini and Joe. Inc. and Jet Environmental Treatment Inc., both located in Ringwood, NJ. She was a member of the Ringwood Chamber of Commerce and a Certified Dental Assistant. When Patti was home, she loved to garden and cook for her family and friends. She was loved and respected by her community and the industry she worked in.
She is survived by her devoted husband Charles “Chuck” W. Hoffmann for 35 loving years, her beloved son, Charlie W. Hoffmann. Her loving siblings, William Stalter III and wife Christine and Elaine Meade and husband Michael and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Patti was predeceased by her parents and her dear sister, Susan Schlage.

She was known for her caring and proud nature. Joan is survived by her daughters Sally Pisani, Cindy Pisani, Judy Needham, son Rodger Pisani, son-in-law Mark Needham, daughter-in-law Laurie Pisani, granddaughter Audrey Needham, grandson Craig Needham, granddaughter Alaina Pisani Albright, and 4 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore Pisani, daughter Joan (Joanie) Pisani, her father Francis, mother Maud, brother Fred F., sister Maud A., brother Robert, and sister Denise.
Joan graduated from Nutley High School in Nutley, NJ, and earned an associate degree from County College of Morris. She had a successful career as a computer programmer for Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, NJ. After retirement, she opened an embroidery business and continued traveling with her husband Sal, eventually visiting all 50 states.
A lifelong member of Saint Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Milton, NJ, Joan found solace and community in her faith. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for over 15 years. Joan was an ace at any card game, with her favorite being bridge. In her younger years, Joan was a competitive bowler with a shelf full of trophies to show for it. Joan’s hobbies were sewing, gardening, traveling, and painting.
A Wake will take place on Friday, May 17, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A Funeral Service will be offered on Saturday, May 18, at 10 am at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kinnelon, NJ. Immediately following the church service, there will be a luncheon at the Silas Condict Hall.
Later in the afternoon at 3:30pm, both Joan and Salvatore’s ashes will be interred at Northern NJ Veterans Cemetery, in Sparta, NJ.

Dorothy "Dot" Hazekamp - April 20, 1928 - April 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Dorothy "Dot" Hazekamp of Butler, New Jersey passed away on April 14, 2024 at the age of 95. Dot was born on April 20, 1928 in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, the second daughter of Charles Ellis Florance (1894-1975) and Elsie Caroline Romaine (1907-1992).
In 1947 she married the love of her life, Simon Hazekamp, Jr. (1924-2012) and together they were the beloved parents of Lynn, Glenn, Gary, and Tami. Dot devoted her life to her children, her grandchildren, her church, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Duffy, and her brothers  George and Robert Florance. She is survived by her sister Joan Gordon and her brother Joseph Florence, her children Lynn Clune, Glenn Hazekamp, Gary Hazekamp and his wife Carol, and Tami Santos and her husband James. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Bridgette (James), Tim (Bri), Rebecca, Lisa (Keith), and Janet (Bruce), plus 9 great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives who will miss her dearly.

William E Perry, Sr. - November 12, 1925 - April 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: William Ernest Perry Sr., age 98, passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2024.
William was born on November 12, 1925, in Montclair, NJ, to Sophie (nee Nees) and Edwin Perry. He lived in Glen Ridge, NJ with his younger sister Emily Perry growing up, but by age 14 years old, he spent most of his time in Butler, NJ, working for his mother’s brother, Ernst Nees who owned Nees Bakery and also Valley Spring Lake. Bill learned the baking trade from his uncle and spent 44 years working in that industry.
As a young man, he enlisted in the Navy in 1943, during WWII at the age of 17 years old. He received his 4-month Navy schooling in Washington DC Navy Yard, then went to Virginia and Maryland for Amphibious and Gunnery Training and joined the Amphibious Force in the 7th Fleet. He served in the Pacific with invasions on the islands of New Guinea, Philippines, and Borneo where his crew were responsible for liberating Kuching, Borneo. He served aboard the Landing Craft Tank’s USS 1321 and the USS 1310 Staff Ship and earned two Battle Stars and the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer. He received numerous medals including American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal – 1 Star, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon – 1 Star.
Upon his return from military service, he resumed working for his uncle at Nees Bakery, and ultimately met the love of his life, Bernice Marion, whom he married in 1949. They built their life together in West Milford, NJ where they raised their 3 children.
With his wife Bernice, they owned and operated Nees Bakery in Butler and Riverdale, NJ from 1970-1985, which was a long-time family business they purchased from his uncle Ernst Nees. Nees Bakery was well-known for their quality baked goods and had been in business for over 65 years. Prior to owning Nees Bakery, they also owned Warwick Bakery, in Warwick, NY, during 1964 -1968.
Some of his many accomplishments included making a birthday cake for entertainer Bob Hope, for his 76th birthday, and also having as a customer and friend, Doc Severinsen, bandleader of the Johnny Carson Tonight Show. While owning Warwick Bakery, he created a huge 100-pound Centennial Birthday Cake for the celebration of Warwick’s Centennial Anniversary. Memories of this event were put into a time capsule to be opened 50 years later in 2017.
William’s accomplishments also included being a West Milford Twp. Special Police Officer for 33 years. He joined the force in 1953. Early in this career, he and Chief John Moeller started the first 12 pm to 8 am shift. He was also a Civilian Defense Police Officer. He was part of the early police force in West Milford, when there were only about 8 officers covering the entire township.
A member since 1946 of the VFW, he was a member of the Bloomfield, NJ group and a Charter Member of the Bloomingdale, NJ VFW. Other memberships included the Butler and Riverdale Business Associations, and the Butler Rotary Club. He is a Plank Owner at the US Navy Memorial in Washington DC, and also received an honorary Silver PBA Card from the Riverdale, NJ Police Department.
William was married for 63 years to Bernice Marion Perry who predeceased him in March 2013.
He is survived by two of their three children, Gail Perry Grinkevich and Donna Perry Kajor. His son, William E. Perry Jr. recently passed away in January 2024.
The extended family includes Gail’s two daughters, Elizabeth Grinkevich and Alexandra Grinkevich Fellema and her husband Michael and their daughter Amelia. Donna’s husband Ronald Kajor and their daughter Kimberly and her husband Steven, and Kevin W. Kajor (deceased 2014), and William E. Perry Jr.’s son, William Ernest Perry, III.
William had a long and successful life and enjoyed his family, many friends, and his business ventures. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm, also on Saturday, at St. Joseph Cemetery, 454 Germantown Rd, West Milford, NJ. Burial will immediately follow the service.

Bob retired from security at the Home Depot in Riverdale, NJ. He was a former Giants season ticket holder, enjoyed bowling and relaxing in his swimming pool. Bob loved his 2019 Corvette and his dog Chloe.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan (Eberhardt) Barie, son Christopher Barie and his wife Stacy, daughter Michelle Partridge and her husband William “Bill” and his adored grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, and Hailey Renee Barie, Joshua, Dylan, and Sean Bamper.

Richard was born May 29th, 1966, in Vernon, NJ. He grew up with many siblings, his mother, and his stepfather. Richard loved the NJ Shore and was happiest fishing on the beach in Seaside. His favorite sports teams were the Yankees and the Cowboys. He loved food and was a great cook.
Richard was a jack of all trades, worked in construction, as a handyman, and painter. In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor, and will always be remembered for making people laugh.
Richard is predeceased by his mother Marie, stepfather Todd, and his youngest sister Dana Springstead-DeWitt. He is survived by his siblings: Russ Congleton, and his children; Sherry and Rich Connelly, and their children; Darrin Springstead, and his children; Kristine and Kenny Kuhrt, and their children; and his step-siblings: Henry, Missy and Karen.

Carole is survived by her loving sister Jeanne Finello, nephew Michael Finello and great nephew, Jake Finello and many wonderful friends. Carole was predeceased by her brother Robert Finello.

Jeffrey was born to John and Eleanor Sokolowski on March 19, 1956, in Pompton Plains NJ. Jeffrey graduated from Butler High School in 1974 and soon after he married his lifelong love Candice (Simpson) in 1976. Jeffrey and Candice settled in Bloomingdale, NJ, where they would begin their family together and raise their two children into adulthood. Jeffrey and Candice then moved into their dream home they had built in North Haledon in 2004. Jeffrey was a hardworking and dedicated employee for PSEG for over 30 years prior to his retirement.
Jeffrey was a die-hard New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and loved spending all the time he could at the family’s vacation home on Long Beach Island. He also thoroughly enjoyed traveling, with his favorite destinations being Las Vegas, NV, Tampa, FL for NY Yankees Spring Training, and trips with his wife Candice to Atlantic City to try his luck on his favorite slot machines.
Jeffrey is pre-deceased by his parents, John, and Eleanor, as well as his aunt, Anna Sokolowski. He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Candice, his daughter Nicole and her husband Keith, his son Jeffrey, and his wife Michele, as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Savannah, Joseph, and Juliana.
Visiting hours will be Monday, April 8th, 2024 from 11am to 1pm at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, N.J..  A graveside service will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery,  Butler, NJ.

Emma's career in the medical field blossomed as she devoted her talents to the radiology department of Pascack Valley Hospital. Her adeptness in medical transcription, fueled by her remarkable typing skills, further exemplified her dedication to healthcare.
Retirement provided Emma with the opportunity to pursue her passion for animal welfare, particularly dachshund rescue work, which brought her immeasurable fulfillment and joy.
Jane will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.   In addition to her husband and children, she leaves behind her son-in-law, Mark Kennedy, grandchildren Cameron, Chase, and Grady, her sister Joanne McCleary, best friend Janet Robinson, and many nieces and nephews.

While attending Wayne Valley High School Leslie met the love of her life, William A. Graf (Bill). Leslie and Bill married in 1966 and in 1970 made a home in Bloomingdale, NJ where they raised their three daughters.
Leslie pursued a career as an LPN working for Dr. Michael Vacca in Kinnelon, NJ for 25 years. In addition, Leslie recently celebrated her 35-year service anniversary as an EMT with the Triboro First Aid Squad. During her tenure she held many positions including president, vice president, and treasurer.
Leslie and Bill loved spending time traveling together. Among their favorite destinations were Aspen, CO and the Napa Valley in California. Leslie loved spending time listening to music, especially John Denver, walking with her friends and spending time with her family. Leslie never missed celebrating a family birthday, holiday, or family member achievement. Her life truly revolved around her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Leslie is survived by her husband of 57 years, William A. Graf, her children Daryl Ann Graure of Oak Ridge, NJ, Traci Graf Peterson of Coopersburg, PA, Kimberly Graf Reed and her husband, Tobias of Oak Ridge, NJ, her grandchildren Ethan William Graure and Fiance Emily Wasserman of Arlington, VA, Meghan Elizabeth Graure of Washington D.C., Jenna Elizabeth and Jaime Rose Peterson of Coopersburg PA, Grace Elizabeth and Joshua Bryan Reed of Oak Ridge, NJ, Brother-in-law Gerald C. Ohlmeyer, Stepfather William Ohlmeyer, Father Douglas Bryan, and Brother Douglas T. Bryan.
