A U.S. Navy veteran he was a member of Enterprise Fire Company, South Amboy. He was employed as a dispatcher at Middlesex County College, Edison from which he retired and also by The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals”.  When he wasn’t working you could find “The Crazy Irishman” at many different flea markets, toy, antique and car shows.
Son of the late Francis P. and Jennie McLaughlin McCarthy he is also predeceased by his brothers Thomas, Harold and Kevin McCarthy; his sisters Frances Lasso and his twin Eileen McCarthy and his nephews Gary and Kyle McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Elizabeth Peters McCarthy; his daughter Jennifer Falchek; the love of his life his grandson Jackson Falchek; his sisters-in-law Cathy and Ann McCarthy and Sue Olsen; his brothers-in-law Guy and Daniel Peters and many nieces and nephews.

Son of the late Albert and Louella Robson Saddler he is also predeceased by his sons Alvin, Jr. and Daniel; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife Gail Yunckes Saddler; his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and John Raab; his grandchildren Stacy Saddler, Amy Pawelczyk and her husband Dan, Dawn Saddler, Scott Saddler and Jessica, Jennifer Saddler, Steven Wisol and his wife Samantha and Jason Wisol; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his beloved pets Henry and Spanky.

Obituary Preview: Angela Rose Plinio Lordi, 78, of Matawan passed peacefully at home on Thursday April 7, 2022. Born in Newark, she lived in Sayreville and Union Beach before settling in Cheesequake Village. She was employed as a secretary for Grimm-Jones, Inc., East Brunswick until retiring in 1991 and then happily worked part-time as the Queen of Broadway Bagels in South Amboy from 1998 to 2020, where she made many friends. Angela was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and could talk baseball with the best of them.   A loyal, beautiful, and confident woman, she loved her family and friends, her job and her customers at the bagel store, most cuisine and dining out, dressing nice, crafts and card games, her music, especially Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Bread, Linda Ronstadt, Barry Manilow, Paul Anka and so many more.  She always had music playing in her happy household and had quite the musical influence on her children and grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Alexander and Theresa Uzzolino Plinio, Angela was predeceased by her husband Jack, her brother Richard Plinio and her daughter-in-law Alicia Capano. She is survived by her daughters Maria Soto and her husband Joe; Diana Chance and her husband Douglas; her son Michael Lordi; her brother Alex Plinio and his wife Rosemarie; her sister-in-law Mary Plinio; her grandchildren Dillon and his wife Francheska, Nolan, Douglas, Jr. and his wife Amy, Nicholas, Catherine, Michael, Jr., Matthew and Emily; her great-grandchildren Darien, Devin and Marina and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Angela’s life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 1 to 3pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy which will include a service at 2:30.
Angela preferred living plants, rather than flowers, or donations may be made to the family for a local charity to be named later.

Obituary Preview: Randolph “Bob” Stover, 100, of Bardstown, Kentucky, passed away Saturday March 26, 2022 at Springfield Nursing and Rehab.  He was born December 10, 1921 in Winder, Georgia, retired from Jersey Central Power and Light with 31 years of service, was a United States Navy Veteran during WWII and served from 1939-1948 as a Chief Torpedoman. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus, member of American Legion Post 42, VFW, and St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy.  He was an avid bird watcher, loved fishing, and his walks in the woods.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila Boyle Stover and two brothers, Robert Stover, and Wyley Stover.
He is survived by his three children, John Stover and his wife Judy of Bardstown, Kentucky, Maureen McReynolds and her husband George of Gordonsville, Virginia, and Kevin Stover of Old Bridge; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 9:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8pm.

Daughter of the late Charles and Theresa Hopkins Lennon she is also predeceased by her husband Joseph M. Natale in 2007; her sons Richard in 1991 and Joseph in 2005; her sister Virginia Krasovec and her brothers Charles and James Lennon. She is survived by her brother Eugene Lennon and her brother-in-law Emro Krasovec.  She is also survived by her son David Natale and his wife Christine; her daughter Deborah Trusheim and her husband John; her grandchildren Joseph M. Hoffman and his wife Melanie, Bryan C. Hoffman and his wife Addie, and Christopher Natale and his partner Samantha Bucher; her two great-grandchildren Logan and Maggie Hoffman and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary always showed up and gave her full effort for her family and as an employee. She instilled in her family the motto “you gotta do, what you gotta do, man.” She found great joy in spending time with her family, dancing, and shopping. She always was ready to give and ensure her family had everything they needed.

Betty Lee Williams Reagan - March 24, 1932 - February 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Betty Lee Williams Reagan, 89, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 18, 2022 with her family around her.
Betty grew up in Linden and was named Homecoming Queen at Linden High School.  She married her high school sweetheart in June of 1952.  They started their family with the birth of their daughter, Nancy Lee, and then their son, Gene.  They moved to Sayreville in 1955 and raised their family. They ran their business, Triple R Maintenance, together for many years.
Betty lived a good life, focusing on her family.  In their younger days, Gene and Betty could be found on any given weekend enjoying dinners at the Robert E Lee or Clare and Cobys.  They spent many nights at the Knights of Columbus in South Amboy or the Sayreville Elks.  Betty enjoyed bowling with her friends and was an avid reader.  Gene and Betty traveled the world.  However, Betty was happiest in her home with her family around her.  Countless family and holiday celebrations were spent there, always good food, drink and laughter.   Gene and Betty were able to enjoy their retirement together.  The last few years Betty’s time was spent doting over her great grandchild, her Pumpkin, Kennedy.  There was no better sound than when Betty broke into uncontrolled laughter, bringing her to tears.  We are all better people having had her in our lives.
Daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn Williams, she is predeceased by her husband of 61 years Eugene J Reagan in 2013, her granddaughter Keri Ann Magoon, and her son in law Stephen Yetman.  She is survived by her daughter Nancy Lee Yetman of Toms River, her son and daughter in law Gene and Trish Reagan of South Amboy, her grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew Kowitski of Far Hills, Mitchell (Sonny) and Mandy Savitsky of Sewell, Gene Reagan and Kelly Tweedly of Sayreville, Eric (Bummer) and Jacqueline Savitsky of Manasquan, Matthew Reagan and Vita Errante of Columbus, and Nicholas Reagan of South Amboy, her great grandchildren Ava and Kendall Kowitski, Mitchell Savitsky and Kennedy Reagan.

Jeanne was employed by St. Mary’s Elementary School before moving to the High School, later becoming Director of the Guidance Department and ultimately retiring in 2008 as Vice Principal. A member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church she was a former trustee of the parish as well as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed traveling the world, babysitting and spending time with her family most of all.
Daughter of the late Gordon and Helen Newman Menk she is also predeceased by her husband Raymond A. Polinski in 2002. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Polinski of Clermont, Florida and Cindy Burns and her husband Mike of Parlin; her sisters Barbara Skarzynski and Marilyn Martenak; her grandchildren Brian Burns and his wife Jacki, Kevin Burns and his wife Sandy and Colleen Noden and her husband Sean; her great-grandchildren Sean, Kate, Emma, Abby, Brea, Mikey and Colton and several nieces and nephews.

Eugene O'Toole - July 28, 1929 - February 03, 2022

Obituary Preview: Eugene L. O’Toole, 92, of Sayreville passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Born and raised in South Amboy he moved to Sayreville in 1962.
Gene was a Korean War veteran and was very proud to serve his country. He was a true American who loved God, his family, and his country. Gene was a devoted family man and friend to all who were blessed to know him. He was a faithful NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He was an avid reader of the morning paper, sports magazines, and always awaited the new issue of the SA Times. When you were in Gene’s company you enjoyed the conversation, his laughter, and he always offered you many compliments. You always walked away feeling better after you saw Gene because he had the ability to bring out the best in people. His late friend often said “He was a gentleman’s gentleman.” Gene had the kindest heart and spoke the softest words to everyone he encountered through his life.
Gene was very active in St. Mary Church, South Amboy, as a former Eucharistic minister and also as one of the trustees of the parish. Throughout the years, Gene also served on many committees in the parish. Also, Gene was a former member of the Sayreville/South Amboy Rotary Club.
Gene graduated from St. Mary High School and while working at Western Electric for ten years he became co-owner with Allie Clark of the Sportsman Inn (formerly The Landmark) on Broadway in South Amboy, NJ. Gene joined Syntex/Roach pharmaceuticals as their Distribution Manager for 28 years until his retirement in 2004.
Son of the late William J. and Ethel B. he was predeceased by his brothers William and John and his sisters Ann Maniscalco and Majorie David. He was also predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Rita (Wieczorkowski) in 2002 and his son, Rev. Eugene (Chip) O’Toole in 1996.  He is survived by his two devoted friends Rev. Dennis Weezorak of South Amboy and Susan Chesakis of Old Bridge. Gene is also survived by his goddaughter Meghan (McKenna) Winston of Middletown, cousins Kenneth Henderson of Port Richey, FL and Mary Beth Henderson of Dobbs Ferry, NY, a niece Colleen (O’Toole) Fobes and a nephew John O’Toole of Florida and a host of friends. A special thank you to his doctor and long-time close friend, Dr. Harold McKenna. Also, to his devoted neighbor Erik Antone and his caregiver, Mariya.
Funeral services will be held on Monday February 7, 2022 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home for Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5pm.

Obituary Preview: Dessiree A. “Dessi” Mateo, 59, of Sewaren died on Saturday January 22, 2022 at home.
Dessiree dedicated her life to her children, exemplifying integrity, honesty, but most importantly unconditional love. Everyone that has been blessed to meet her and witness her beautiful smile can all agree that her kindness can not only be seen but felt by all. She gave her all to everything that she did, this is why she made the decision to pursue a nursing degree. Although she was not able to graduate, Dessiree helped so many with her actions that in actuality a degree was never needed, her heart was more than enough. She is survived by her only daughter Sarina, her "big baby" Angel, and her "baby boy" Zane; also by her three grandchildren Denzel, Alana, and Carmelo. Dessiree's love and laughter may not be physically here with us but will forever live in our hearts, reminding us to live life loudly, freely, but most importantly full of love.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 3:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4pm.

After retiring she served as an advocate for the hard of hearing and helped organize several Walks for Hearing events.
Daughter of the late William and Margaret Ruth Hess Enright she is also predeceased by her loving husband Robert F. Nordling, Sr. in 1992; her son Eric J. Nordling and her sister and brother-in-law Agatha Ruth and Sir Stanley Wojtusik. She is survived by her children Michael Nordling; Robert F. Nordling, Jr. and his wife Judy Walengewicz Nordling and their children Genna and Amelia Nordling; Dr. Mary K. Christie Nordling and her husband Michael Christie and their children Mia and Desmond Christie; William V.
