Educated in the public schools of Spartanburg County he was a graduate of Florence Chapel High School class of 1948.
“J C”, as he was so affectionately called, was a retired supervisor for Fairforest Finishing Company and a Seventh Day Adventist.
Fishing, hunting and gardening were some of the loves of his life.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Curtis Drummond ; a daughter, Barbara Elizabeth Drummond ; siblings, Jimmy Julius Drummond, Thelma Goodman, Minnie Lee Underwood, Estell Gilliam, Virginia Foster and Gwendolyn Drummond.
Also surviving are: a son, David (Stacey) Drummond of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Edmund Drummond of Reidville, SC; sisters, Elwillie Drummond Collins of Spartanburg, SC and Diane (Kenneth) Smith of Spartanburg, SC; 6 grandchildren, Byron Linder, Shakeedra Harris, Braxton Drummond, Rostrinique Drummond, Anthony Drummond and Joseph Drummond; 7 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Educated in the public school system of Spartanburg County, SC, she was a graduate of Florence Chapel High School.
A former employee of Greer Mill and Spring Industry, she was a faithful Member of Spirit And Truth Ministries where she served as Church Mother, Usher, Sunday School Teacher and in The Kitchen Ministry. Her culinary skills were always appreciated. Nannie loved people and it was obvious. She often greeted you with a hug. After retiring she worked as a care giver for many children and elderly people
Early on Monday Morning, April 11, 2022, she was summoned from her earthly home in Duncan, SC to her heavenly home.
Nannie was preceded in death by her siblings: Douglas, Marvin and Melvin Beachum, Jimmy Cohen, Billy Jean Ballenger, Gwendolyn Riser, Evelyn Dennis and Lola Mae Davis.
Left to cherish loving memories are: a daughter, Shelia Thompson of the home; grandsons, Joshua (Shadera) Thompson of Wellford, SC, Brian (Bridgette) Thompson of Boiling Springs, SC, Byron (Shaquaila) Thompson of Duncan, SC and Mika’s Miller of the home; sisters, Lydia Davis and Emma Scott of Greer, SC, Brenda Wright of Duncan, SC, Tillie Edwards and Gail Cohen of Duncan, SC; sisters-in-law, Shirley Beachum and Nellie Kelly; great granddaughters, Myionna Miller, Chava McDowell, Lynnae Miller, Mikal Miller and Briley Thompson; a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be held Friday, April 15, 2022, from 1:00 until 6:00 PM in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of the Gilmore Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Spirit And Truth Ministries, 301 Wilson St., Greer, SC with Bishop Courtney Cohen, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Her remains will be placed in the church one hour before the services.

“Dale” as he was so affectionately called, loved music, dancing, his family and friends. He was very kindhearted to everyone that he came across and he loved basketball and wrestling. He wanted to help everyone and everything. He was passionate about animals and adore his cat. Dale was a loving soul to be around and everyone who met him loved him. A great friend and neighbor, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Robert and Sherrie VanLieu.
He is survived by his sister, Melanie (Jeff) Call of Greer, SC; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Beverly Jean Waddell - January 06, 1939 - January 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Beverly Jean Waddell (the Boss) daughter of the late Minnie Lyles transitioned peacefully from this life on Saturday, 1/22/2022. Beverly Waddell was adopted and raised by the late Josephine and Morris Lyles.
Beverly was educated in the Spartanburg school system, graduating from Carver High School in 1956. Beverly went on to pursue her nursing degree and graduated from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Charlotte, NC in 1959. Soon after graduation Beverly received the Apostle Rite of the Laying on of hands at a Confirmation Holding in the Church of St. Michaels and all Angels in Charlotte, NC.
Beverly was passionate about the nursing profession and the advancement of medical cures/technologies. She was a registered nurse and worked at Doctors’ Memorial and later at Spartanburg Reginal Medical Center until she retired. Beverly was a board certified in South Carolina, North Carolina, Alaska, and Alabama. Beverly was a member of the Professional Nursing Association, the only professional nursing organization she could join as a black nurse. Beverly and other members of this prestigious organization integrated the Spartanburg Regional Hospital System.
Beverly lived her life to the max. She brought so much hope and laughter to everyone. It was said that “She brighten up the room when she walked in.” She touched so many people and dedicated her life to serving others. Even after she retired, she continued serving her neighborhood and Spartanburg community. It was a joy for her to carpool her friends around town at a drop of a hat. Beverly loved sewing, playing games on her tablet, and reading books. But as everyone knows, her very favorite things were: fishing with her nephew Odell Waddell, sister-in-law Francis Waddell, and friends; going to the casinos, and being a mean junk-talking card player!
Beverly was an active member of First Worship (First A.M.E) until her death.
Beverly leaves to mourn her three daughters: Sheina P. Waddell of Alexandria, VA by Sterling P. Woodard (deceased), Carla R. Waddell of Alexandria, VA, and Bern’Naddette L. Waddell of Charlotte, NC by Charles R. Waddell (Laura). Two special daughters Thalia Moore of Chicago, IL and Monique Boyce-James (Demar) of Sandy Hook, CT. One special son Shawn Simpson (Jackie). Grandchildren: Dané J. Waddell, Brandon X. Wright, Gabriel and Morgan Harris. Brothers: Daniel "Mack" Lyles (Carrie deceased) of Spartanburg, SC, James "Tootie" Lyles (Priscilla) of Temple Hills, MD, Emanuel "Rabbit" Lyles of Northern VA, and David "Bud" Lyles of Washington, DC. Sisters: Marianne “Anne” Lyles (deceased) of Washington, DC, Carolyn McGuire (Charles both deceased) of Washington, DC, Jennie Milton (Larry) of Washington, DC, Geogianna Dinkins (Mark deceased) of Washington, DC, and Paulette Lyles (deceased) of Washington, DC.

She joined Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was formerly employed as a chef at Truckstops Of America in Duncan, SC.
Later in life she met and married Steve Norman.
Ruby loved her role as a mother and grandmother. She was a pillar in her community. She took great joy in feeding and providing temporary housing to those in need.
Full of laughter and smiles, she always had enlightening and funny stories to tell which filled others with laughter.
She loved to sing and was a source of encouragement to all.
A beautiful person, attentive daughter, great sister, loving wife, magnificent mother and a good friend that brought joy to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
On Saturday Morning, January 22, 2022, hours before daylight in Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg, SC, Ruby Hearkened to the voice of the Lord and quietly made her earthly departure destined for her Heavenly home, free from all sickness, worry and pain.
She was preceded in death by a child at birth, Undrey Harris and her siblings, Johnnie “Boot” Harris and Leona H. Thompson.
Surviving are: sons, Venson (Tammy) Harris of Wellford, SC and Tracy (Regina) Harris of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Cassandra Harris of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Ernest (Vicki) Morton Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Sylvia Harris of Wellford, SC, Pearline Morton and Bobbie Jean Morton, both of Moore, SC; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
