Obituary Preview: After a full life of fun and excitement as a son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, girl dad, and grandpa, Peter Rusk passed away on May 11th 2024 at 81 years old.

He was born November 30, 1942 to Ida Conn and George Rusk Sr in Newburgh, NY. Raised in Marlboro, NY and graduating from Kingston High School in 1960, he headed to Schenectady, NY to attend Union College, but eventually went to serve in the US Army as a Vietnam Infantryman earning multiple medals including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

By profession, Peter was an insurance agent who started his career with The Rusk Agency on Main Street in Marlboro, NY. He worked for many years at the Algonquin agency in Newburgh where he had many coworker friends and loyal customers. In reality, he was so much more. He was a long time Yankee fan who would often travel to the Bronx. He was at the stadium for many Sundays, World Series games, old timer’s days, David Cone’s perfect game, Jeter’s last game, and most recently, to share his love of the game (but not his Lobel’s steak sandwich) with all of his kids grandkids. If dad jokes and puns were his name, positivity was his game. He always had a smile, gave a great hug, and never had a bad word to say even when it rained, he was “just ducky!” He loved to cook and could often be found in the kitchen, with an Old Fashioned in his hand and a towel slung over his shoulder just to make sure everyone knew HE was cooking. He somehow skated doing dishes for his entire culinary career. If I cook, you clean! At 7pm night, Alec Trebek was on the TV. Dad would normally have the answers before the actual jeopardy contestants and was always hitting the daily double. Summers were spent at Hampton Beach with 8 pound lobsters and Friday night fireworks. Some many more memories of Gourmet Club dinners and trips, weddings, birthdays, Sunday Fundays, Giants games, pool days, trivial pursuit, pinnacle, and nights on the deck are held dear to our hearts.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan of Marlboro, three daughters: Meeghan Alessandro and her husband Joe of Monroe NY, Sarah Rusk and Anthony Torres of Fishkill NY, and Morgan Rusk of Marlboro. His three grandchildren, Taylor Chippendale, Devin Alessandro, and Keira Torres have been lucky enough to spend many great vacations, trips, and random weekends with him, and have many wonderful memories of fun times together. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 15 th , from 11am-2pm at DiDonato Funeral Home in Marlboro NY. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery

He came to America in 1960 and served in the US Army for six years. Emanuele was a master welder, completing his career at Benson Steel Fabrications in Saugerties, NY.

He is survived by his sister Nancy DeQuarto and brother-in-law Joseph DeQuarto, his children, Sara Lopergolo and husband Edward Wood of New York City, Dominic Lopergolo and fiancé Larissa Marino of New Windsor, NY, daughter-in-law Alex Lopergolo, and his five grandchildren, Chiara, Bennett, Matteo, Marco and Massimo.

Emanuele was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He adored spending time with his family. He loved to draw, dance and make jokes. He was a "jack of all trades" always building or making something, including his home built 45 years ago. He will be deeply missed.

Jim was the owner of Jim Taylor Plumbing & Heating, Inc. for more than 30 years and was a Life Member of Local 21 Plumbers & Steamfitters. He was also a Life Member of the Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife, Toni Taylor, and his children and their partners: Robert & Valerie Taylor, Shaun Marie Taylor & Jonathan Struss, and Dina Taylor & David Friedlander. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Kayla Taylor & Aidan Jacobsen, Alexandra Taylor & Anthony Marguglio, as well as Declan Taylor, David Friedlander, Abel Friedlander and Madison Friedlander. One of his greatest joys were his two great grandchildren: Mia Ann Lent and Anthony Marguglio. Jim leaves behind his best friend, his beloved dachshund, Leah (Boogie Face).

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Joseph Taylor.

Jim enjoyed time in Key West, FL which was his favorite place in the world. He loved camping with his numerous RVs north to The Thousand Islands and Lake George, NY with our closest family and friends and south to Key West, FL.

Charles Diorio - March 25, 1946 - April 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: Charles Daniel Diorio, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on April 28, 2024, at the age of 78.

Charles was born on March 25, 1946, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Daniel Diorio and Catharine Maguire. He grew up in Milton, NY and attended Marlboro schools. He resided in Milton for most of his life and later settled in Accord, NY.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Diorio and Catharine Maguire, and his sister, Danya Diorio. He is survived by his former spouse, Betty Diorio, with whom he share many cherished memories.

Professionally, Charles retired from Agway Oil Company. However, it was his service as a Marine during the Vietnam War that truly exemplified his courage, patriotism, and commitment to his country.

In addition to his military service, Charles was a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross, where he selflessly gave his time and energy to help those in need. He also served as a former Fire Chief and Fire Commissioner for the Milton Engine Company and volunteered for the Town of Marlboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps while residing in Milton, NY.

Outside of his professional and volunteer endeavors, Charles had a passion for woodworking and restoring vehicles. His meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook, bringing joy to both himself and those around him.

Charles' greatest source of pride and joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving daughters, Rosemarie Diorio and Dana Diorio, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Deanna Baker and her fiancé Ryan Bard, Austin Casey, Sierra Casey, and Collin Casey. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence Diorio.

Charles also found great joy in the company of his friends, particularly when they embarked on motorcycle rides together. The camaraderie they shared during these outings brought him immense happiness and added richness to his life.

In his final days, Charles was surrounded by the love of his family and the compassionate care of the staff at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He passed away peacefully, knowing he was cherished and loved.

In accordance with his wishes, a private wake will be held to honor Charles' life and legacy.

Philip D'Orazio was employed by IBM where he worked as a Facilities Space Planner Team Leader. He retired from IBM after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife Bernadette D'Orazio of Marlboro, NY, his daughter and her husband Nicole and Patrick Larkin of Brookfield, Connecticut, and sons, Justin and his wife Yajaira D'Orazio of Jacksonville, Florida, and Phillip Scott and his wife Gwen D'Orazio of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Philip was also the proud grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren, Charlotte Larkin and Valentina D'Orazio.

Philip D'Orazio was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His interests included motorcycle rides with his friends, short hikes in Minnewaska State Park with his wife, summer vacations to Lake George, NY, family gatherings where he sat at the head of the table surrounded by loved ones, spending countless hours doing yard work and completing projects around his house, consuming content around American and world histories, and lastly making and stoking cozy fires to get through the cold winter nights of upstate New York. Philip was also a devout Christian, who strongly believed Jesus Christ was the son of God. It was his strong faith that gave him peace and solace when things got the toughest at the end.

Antonio worked at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan, NY for over two decades as a Carpenter and was a proud member of the former Carpenters Local 163 Union. He loved carpentry and working with his hands and was always tinkering around the house or helping friends with DIY projects.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Ilde (Ciotti) Vitale. Devoted father of Maria (Vitale) Tonelli and her husband Dino Tonelli, Luigi Vitale and his wife Donna (Dentato) Vitale. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph, Anthony and Marisa Tonelli as well as Christina and Stephanie Vitale. Antonio is further survived by his sisters Concetta (Vitale) DiPaterio and Angelina (Vitale) Ciotti and his brother Mario Vitale. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews both here in the United States and Italy.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at DiDonato Funeral Home at 1290 Route 9W in Marlboro, NY on Monday, April 15th during the hours of 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

The Funeral Mass celebrating Antonio’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Marlboro on Tuesday, April 16th at 10:30 am.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marlboro, NY.

William was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving in LaiKhe from October 1966 through October 1968. A radio man of the 1 st Infantry decorated with two Overseas Bars, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

William retired from UPS after 25 years of service as a router and Shop Stewart in New York City.

William is survived by wife Amanda Russertt, his two sons Liam Russertt, Phillip Russertt, and their mother Kathleen Russertt. His daughters-in-laws, Maria Russertt and Stephanie Russertt. His stepchildren Monica Cottrell, Colt Cromwell, Rudy Zamenick and his grandchildren, Melanie Russertt, Kaylee Russertt, and his step grandchildren, Matthew Cottrell, Kayden Cromwell, Skyler Cromwell, Logan Langham, Illyana Langham.

William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather "Papa." He loved to play drums, dedicated Elvis fan, talented artist, poetry writer, furniture maker and Doo Wop singer. He loved to have fun with his friends and treated them like family. He had a high sense of pride, loyalty and loved animals. He made lifelong friendships a man you just wanted to be around. Rosalie was the loving wife of the late Carl A Dragotta who died in 2002. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, lifelong member of Ladies Auxiliary. Along with her brother Lawrence, and their spouses, they shared many years at Sunset Pool.

Rosalie is survived by her loving family including her daughter Maryann Dragotta of Marlboro, one sister Rosemary Sacco of Bradenton, FL, grandson Peter Mannese of Marlboro, great-grandchildren: Sieana Rose Abel, Annabelle Abel and Hannah Marie Abel as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband Carl, she was also predeceased by her daughter Carla Dragotta, Grandaughter,Maria Mannese Abel, brother Lawrence Sacco and sister SallyAnn Cappillino.

Obituary Preview: Carmen Castro passed away peacefully in sleep on April 5, 2024 in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. Carmen was born in Puerto Rico on September 3, 1934 and was 89 years of age.

Carmen was pre-deceased by her husband of 58 years Raymon Castro her son Raymond Castro, her grandsons Steven Roman and Carlos Roman and her brothers Juan Sanchez and Nito Sanchez.

Carmen grew up very poor in Puerto Rico and was entrusted at the age of eight to care for and raise her younger siblings. She eventually moved to New York at the age of fourteen and at sixteen met the love of her life, Raymon, and were married shortly thereafter. Carmen worked many years as a supervisor with Columbia Ribbon and Carbon in Glen Cove, Long Island. After her retirement her and her husband spent many happy years travelling.

Survivors include the following: her daughters Elsie Mackey and husband Bill, Sandra Ardolini and her husband Jack, grandsons Noel Jusino and his wife Joann, Raymond Castro and his wife Cynthia, Joey Castro and his wife Beth, Jason Latsko and his wife Theresa, Raymond Castro, granddaughers Candace Kimmel and her husband Scott, Tanya Smith and her husband Andre, sister Olga Rosa and her husband Jesus,, brother Vicente Sanchez and his wife Adalia, nephew Jesus Rosa and his wife Gina, several nieces, nephews and several great grandchildren. Carmen's family tells us she was stubborn but generous who always took care of her family. She loved her children and her close friends. "Our mother fought to the very end and never gave up. We will miss her dearly."

There will be a private family memorial scheduled for a later date.

As an art teacher, Linda helped countless individuals in the Neuro- Rehabilitation Program at the Northeast Center with her passion for creativity, fostering their talents and encouraging them to express themselves. Her therapeutic work touched the lives of many, providing support and solace to those in need.

Linda is survived by her daughter Jessica and husband James Hall, her granddaughter Audrey Hall, her brother William & wife Annika Cahill, her sister Nora Cahill and her sister in law, Peggy Cahill. She had 7 nieces and nephews; Robert Cahill, Erin Kuhnen, Randy Cahill, Nevaeh VanSickle, Lily Cahill, Winston Cahill and Gustav Cahill. Linda is also survived by many loving cousins she grew up with.

Linda is predeceased by her mother Ruth Cahill, father Edward Cahill and her brother Edward Cahill.

Above all, Linda cherished her role as mother to Jessica and as a nana to Audrey. She poured her love and wisdom into their lives, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Linda's love for art was evident in everything she did, whether it was through her teaching, her therapeutic practice, or simply in the way she embraced life with her vibrant spirit. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Her happiest moments were the last 14 years standing by her daughter's side as she opened a flourishing dance studio. Miss.Sandy was not only GMZ's Office Administrator, she was the first face that greeted the cherished students and families at the door.

Sandra is survived by her son Steve & wife Kristin Zambito of Ulster Park, her daughter Gina & husband Jon Grote of Newburgh, her brother Steven & wife Lisa Fanizzi of Marlboro, and her Uncle Joseph Giunta of Marlboro and the absolute loves of her life, her grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Ryder, Giovanni and Francesca. She also has many precious cousins, nieces and nephews, and a large and much adored extended family and many friends.

Sandra is predeceased by her loving husband Frank Zambito, their sons Anthony & Frankie and her granddaughter Angelina.

Sandra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Some of her favorite pastimes were her trips to the casinos, entertaining family and friends, and celebrating the many accomplishments of her beloved children and grandchildren. Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 1, 1936 to parents Josephine and Rosario Constantino. She is survived by her children Christina (& husband, David), Roy (& wife, Elizabeth), Ralph (& wife, Gladys), grandsons Taylor & Dylan, brothers George, Alexander & Roy and sisters Sarah, Joan & Marilyn. Marie was a loving wife, mother & grandmother to whom family was most important. After raising her children, she fulfilled her dream of getting a college education and attended Brooklyn College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art. Marie also loved music and loved to sing, which she did for

several years with The Sweet Adelines acapella vocal group. Her love of music was passed along to her children, particularly her sons, who are both musicians.

Marie and her husband of 63 years, Frank, were always active in their community and were both Eucharistic Ministers in their church back in their home town of Brooklyn, NY. When they moved up to Newburgh 25 years ago, they became actively involved in Habitat For Humanity of Greater Newburgh, where Marie was the Captain for the First Women’s Build.

Marie loved meeting and being around people and could (and often did) strike up a conversation with most anyone (& everyone!). She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was 86 years old. Martha was born on November 1, 1937 (All Saints Day) and grew up on a fruit farm in Marlboro, NY. She was the daughter of Guiseppe (Joseph) and Giovanna (Jenny) Bongiovanni, Sicilian Immigrants.

Martha, whose given name was Martina, was a homemaker who often said her greatest pleasure in life was raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren. Martha was often known for her sense of humor, her cooking and baking skills, and her devout faith which she was comforted by in challenging times. After the passing of her husband, Martha courageously ventured out of her comfort zone and went on a few tours in Europe including to her homeland of Italy and the Scottish Highlands with her friends, traveled to Hawaii with her dearest cousin to visit her daughter Andrea, as well as numerous solo trips to Florida to spend time with her daughter Maria. She also got a part time job which gave her a sense of independence and accomplishment. In any environment she was in, she easily made friends and created a sense of community and belonging around her with her loving presence and sense of humor. Not only a loving mother to her daughters, she was a friend and a source of encouragement for her daughters to reach for their dreams and venture out in the world.

She is survived by her three daughters, Andrea Giammattei in NYC, Maria Giammattei in South Florida, and Rosalie DeAngelo in Newburgh as well as her three beautiful grandchildren, Luca, Roman and Giuliana, and her niece who was like a daughter to her, Nicole DeFabio Nicolis as well as her nephew, Mark DeFabio, several grandnieces and a grandnephew whom she loved and was blessed to watch them grow. She is also survived by her dearest cousin, Josie Marsiglio who she called her role-model in life. Martha is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Giammattei, her sister Rosalie and brother-in-law Nick DeFabio.

Per Martha's wishes, there will be no calling hours. The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 29th at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, NY. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marlboro, NY. A reception and celebration of her life will take place after the burial.

Sherry is survived by her daughters; Laurene "Lori" Hooper and husband Edward, Tamara "Tami" DiDonato and Terry Elia, Kerstin "Keri" Votta and husband Al. Theotis joined the United States Army immediately after graduating from East High. He served in the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Bragg.

Shortly after serving his country honorably, he went to work at IBM in Cleveland, Ohio as a computer programmer and relocated to New York where he retired after more than 20 years in the company.

While working full-time at IBM, Theotis became a business owner opening T.D Deli, a laundry mat, and several residential properties. He founded and served as president of the Winnikee Avenue Block Association.

Theotis was an amazing athlete (tennis and track) who also loved to sail.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Otis and Pauline, and his brother, Dennis.

He leaves behind a large family that includes Babette Dickerson, Jasmine Dickerson, David Dickerson, and Yvette Elmore; sisters, Freddie Mae (Dickerson) Bryant and Novice Gray; brothers, Ronald, Donald, and Kenneth; and multiple nephews and nieces.

Survivors include her daughter Helen Polizzi and John Rutigliano (Marlboro, NY ) and her son Joseph and his wife Virginia (Blossvale, NY) Three beautiful grandaughters, Monica and husband Brandon Bjerke (Hudson, NY) Nicole and husband Jionni Lavalle (Florham Park, NJ) and Kaitlyn Jerminario (Jim Thorpe, PA). She was blessed with four great grandchilden, Lorenzo, Giovanna and Angelo Lavalle and Beatrix Bjerke. Other survivors include her many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a very loving and caring individual to all who knew her.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, she especially loved the holiday seasons filled with the traditional foods, joy and love. Marie always had a smile for everyone and truly enjoyed her life.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted children, son Peter Maniscalco and his wife Beth of Elverson, PA and her daughter Maria and her husband Joseph Afonso of the Town of Newburgh. Her adoring grandchildren who she was very proud of grandson Michael Joseph Afonso and granddaughter Nicole Marie Afonso. Marie is also survived by her brother Anthony (Tony) Marino and his wife Susan of the Town of Newburgh. In addition to being predeceased by her parents Angelo and Mary Delio Marino, her husband Pierre L. Hollenbeck and first husband Joseph J. Maniscalco, she was predeceased by her brother Carmen A.
