Brandon Ismael Solano - June 25, 1994 - February 22, 2022

Departed: 02/22/2022 (Brighton)
Obituary Preview: Brandon Ismael Solano was born in Denver, Colorado to Anthony “Marty” Solano and Janette Solano and was the youngest of five siblings. He married the love of his life Devin Kay Shea on February 19, 2022, and together they had their only child Karen Kay Solano.
Brandon spent the majority of his life in Brighton, CO working in the restaurant industry where he created meaningful, lasting relationships with anyone he encountered. If you happened to work with Brandon on any given day, you knew it would be a great day! He loved working in the restaurant industry because he loved serving others to bring them peace and happiness. His ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met made him the center of attention and someone you wanted as a friend.
Brandon was always up for a good time. On any given day you could catch him at any professional sporting event, on the golf course, at a concert, or spending time with Devin and Karen. He loved being a part of anything that made the people he was around happy. He always carried himself with grace and gratitude. This form of affection was on display in his last months when he was so appreciative of the small things that he could do for people and the things that people would do for him.
Most importantly, Brandon was a dedicated husband, father, and all around family man. His sole purpose was to make sure that his “girls” were always happy and taken care of. Any opportunity he had he would take Devin out on an impromptu date night where they would paint the town and dance in the middle of the street to Marvin Gaye. He would move mountains and crawl inches of the earth to make sure his daughter Karen was happy and safe. With Karen he always went out of his way to make sure that she had everything she needed to be happy. She loves her Daddy. He would also do anything for his nieces and nephews to make sure that they were safe and taken care of. Whenever they think of their Uncle Brandon they will always remember the smiles and laughter he brought them.
Brandon is survived by his daughter Karen and wife Devin; along with his mother and father Martin Solano and Janette Solano, and his four siblings Toni, Felicia, Tiffany, and Justin. He is preceded in death by his Grandma Karen Quintana and his Grandfather Ray Solano.

Marlys Jean Harp - April 25, 1940 - February 21, 2022

Departed: 02/21/2022 (Brighton)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Marlys Jean Harp of Brighton, Colorado died peacefully on February 21 at the age of 81, surrounded by friends and family.
Marlys was born April 25, 1940, to Lorenz and Esther (née Meyer) Einspahr at the Einspahr home just north of Holyoke, Colorado. She was baptized May 12, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke and was confirmed there on April 11, 1954. Marlys attended Holyoke public schools and graduated from Phillips County High School with the class of 1958. Her class was small but mighty, and to this day they continue gathering for reunions every five years and reminiscing, a highlight of Marlys’s social calendar that she looked forward to planning and attending.
From a very early age Marlys demonstrated a talent and love for music. Marlys first served as a professional musician when she became the organist at Zion in Holyoke, setting her on a lifelong career as a leader of music in the church.  She attended Concordia Teacher’s College (now Concordia University) in Seward, Nebraska and graduated in 1964 with a degree in Education. Even before graduation, Marlys began her teaching career, landing a position at Zion Lutheran School in Brighton, Colorado. Marlys taught hundreds of students at Zion in more than 25 years leading music for the school and teaching first grade. Her students remember her strict-but-kind teaching style and still fondly recall the elaborate Spring Concerts and Christmas programs that she would organize each year.
Marlys loved practicing organ and piano and eventually became the Organist and Director of Music at Zion, a position she would hold for over 50 years until her retirement in 2015. She briefly served in the same capacity at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Denver, as well and continued playing as a substitute organist for various congregations in the Denver area and northern Colorado even after her retirement. Her church was the center of her life, and she participated in social and community outreach activities of the church outside of music, including several terms as President of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).
Marlys established the bell choir program at Zion in the early 1970s and built a highly regarded program that at one time included as many as four bell choirs that performed at bell festivals throughout the area. Her knowledge and dedication to the art of bell ringing led her to serve as the Rocky Mountain Region President of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
Children’s choirs, vocal choirs, bell choirs and soloists – Marlys loved entertaining her congregation and community, complete with costumes and corny jokes. Even as she was in the hospital, she was jotting down ideas for her next program. Marlys enjoyed hosting meetings of the Brighton Euterpean Society, where she and her musically inclined friends would entertain each other with solos and collaborations followed by coffee and conversation. She also lent her talents to Brighton Music, accompanying and participating in orchestral concerts several times each year.
Marlys met and married her husband of 52 years, Robert (Bob) Harp in 1965, falling in love with him even though he "couldn't carry a tune in a bucket." They were the last couple to be married at the old Zion Lutheran Church on Strong Street before the church moved across town. Together they would raise two sons, Vaughn and David, in whom Marlys instilled her passion for music, bringing them up to play violin, piano and several other instruments. Her home was perpetually filled with music.
Her love of music was surpassed only by her love of family. Marlys relished every opportunity to get together with relatives and was a legendary hostess, known especially for highly competitive card tournaments and game nights. She particularly delighted in seeing her granddaughter Aurelia perform and blossom into a pianist, singer, dancer, and actress. Marlys’s final public appearance on the organ was with Aurelia on Christmas Eve, 2021 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Moorestown, New Jersey where they played a piano/organ duet with hardly a dry eye in the congregation.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her son, Vaughn. She is survived by her son David (Kristin) Harp; granddaughter Aurelia; three siblings:  Mrs. Vivian A. Ruby of Brush, Colorado, Mr. Clyde D. Einspahr and his wife Phyllis of Holyoke, Colorado, and Mr. Byron B. Einspahr of St. Petersburg, Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 Skeel Street in Brighton on Tuesday, March 1 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton. Memorials honoring Marlys may be designated to Zion Lutheran Church Music Fund. To donate online, go to zionbrighton.org click “Give Now” and select “Memorial Fund,” or donate by mail to 1400 Skeel St., Brighton, CO 80601.

Mike started his working career as a custodian for the Denver Public School District shortly after graduating, in 1975. He started bartending in 1981 until 1986. As much as he enjoyed the drinking scene, something called for him to start working at La Quinta Inn, where he met the love of his life in 1990.  Mike started at Colorado Department of Corrections in 1997 as a correctional officer and remained there until he retired in 2017.
Mike married Kim Cosby (Velotta) on September 26, 1998.  Throughout their years together, while raising three children, Mike would look for a hobby that would be meaningful. He would do wood working in his free time until 2007 when he purchased his motorcycle. In 2009, Mike joined FlatIrons Chapter 471 STAR Touring and Riding where he was sergeant of arms for numerous years. Mike later wanted to help expand this amazing group by starting Big Thompson Chapter 542 STAR Touring and Riding of which he was president at the start. Mike proudly passed on his love of scary clowns, Halloween, Christmas, thrill rides, and motorcycles to his grandchildren. In 2017, after 19 years of begging for a newfoundland dog, he became a dog-dad to Orso. Mike would invest any free time he had into Orso, resulting in a best friend and drinking buddy.

Oscar F. Haake - May 02, 1930 - February 03, 2022

Departed: 02/03/2022 (Brighton)
Obituary Preview: Oscar F. Haake Jr. 1930-2022
Oscar Fred Haake Jr. was called home to his Lord February 3rd, 2022 after living a full life as son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, soldier, neighbor, and friend.
Oscar was born in St. Louis County, Missouri on May 2nd, 1930 to Oscar and Ruth (Brase) Haake Sr. As a child his parents moved to Nashville, Illinois where they grew their family, adding sister Darlene and brother Ron to the family.
In 1946, Oscar Sr and Ruth moved the family to Colorado and started farming two mile west of Brighton on Highway 7. The Brighton farm originally consisted of 160 acres and a few dairy cows. Oscar was drafted into the Army for the Korean War in September 1951 and served for 2 years in the Corps of Engineers US Army. He often spoke of his time of service and how it shaped his life after his return home in 1953. Oscar was a proud Veteran and was usually seen sporting his Korean War Veteran hat everywhere he went. He taught his great-grandsons to stand at attention and sound off when he called “Auctune (attention)!”
Oscar married Mazell Kramer in 1956. In 1961 they moved the operation one mile east over Pitman Hill. Mazell’s family originally pioneered and settled in the Brighton area in 1859 and she was raised on a farm along the South Platte River on the old River Road. Together Oscar and Mazell brought into the world three children: Bradley Oscar in 1957, Mark Kramer in 1960, and Marla Ann in 1964.
Dairy cows became the primary business over the next 20 years, and by 1980 300 Holsteins and Brown Swiss cows were being milked twice daily. By the late 1980s a beef cow-calf herd and small feedlot to finish out beef calves and dairy steers was added to the additional farm ground when the farm expanded.
Oscar “retired” after Mazell was diagnosed with cancer. He viewed his primary occupation as caring for his wife for the last seven years of her life. They pursued many treatments and traveled extensively in search of a cure. Mazell’s fight ended November 19th, 1994 after 38 years of marriage.
On April 13th, 1996 Oscar married Ruth Wagner and moved to her farm near Wellington, Colorado. Ruth, who had also lost a spouse to cancer, was Oscar’s constant companion for the next 25 years. He described her as “feisty”, and together they traveled and enjoyed events of grandchildren and having great-grandchildren. For decades he was a regular and enjoyed morning coffee at the T-Bar in Wellington. In the fall of 2019 Oscar and Ruth relocated to Wray, Colorado to assisted living. Although Oscar never contracted COVID, the isolation that occurred as a result of the pandemic did take a toll on both him and Ruth.
Throughout his life Oscar enjoyed the fellowship of bible studies and theological discussions with anyone who was interested. His faith was always strong, and even in the last weeks of his life he would venture out to early morning bible studies with men of the Calvary Lutheran Church congregation. He touched the lives – often unknowingly – of many people with the strength of his faith and witness in his savior Jesus.
One of Oscar’s passions was Allis-Chalmers and Moline tractors. He became a collector over the years, accumulating tractors he remembered farming with when he was a child and spent many hours and probably thousands of gallons of fuel hauling them across the country to tractor pulls – events his sons and grandsons often participated in with him.
Oscar was always very active in his community, serving as President of the SW Adams Conservation District, Prime Rib Club, and Adams & Larimer County Farm Bureaus for decades. He served as an elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton and was active in the Korean War Veterans Association the VFW and Adams County Historical Society.
Oscar dearly loved his children, grandchildren and especially the blessings of great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Arleen, wife Mazell, nieces Denise and Andrea, stepdaughter Marie, and nephews Dennis and Eric. Oscar is survived by his wife Ruth, sister Darlene (Harley) Lee of Greeley, brother Ron (Margie) of Fort Lupton, children Bradley (Julie) Haake of Holyoke, Mark (Mildred) Haake of Wiggins, and Marla (Brad) Rock of Wray, Sandy (Bill) Wagner/Getz of Alamosa, and Rick (Sue) Wagner of Fort Collins, grandchildren Anita (Chas) Lengfelder, Barbara (Darren) Hinderer, Matt Haake, Jessilyn (Weston) Bugbee, Tessa Haake, Alex (Audrey) Rock, Amanda (Michael) Kerbs, Kate Wagner, Jayne (David) Wagner, and Maleesa (Brandon) Foreside, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Oscar’s Family would welcome memorials to the Lutheran Hour Ministries and Korean War Veterans Association. https://www.lhm.org/give/forms/formgeneral.asp?id=1&cid=&campaign=22CMN20AA https://kwva.us/?page=mem_donate

Rosalyn "Rosie" Virginia Steinmeyer - August 29, 1941 - January 30, 2022

Departed: 01/30/2022 (Brighton)
Obituary Preview: On August 29, 1941, the world welcomed the unforgettable Rosalyn (Rosie) Steinmeyer.  On January 30, 2022, Rosie knew that she had done all that she was meant to, and peacefully passed away, with her daughter Beverly at her side.
The only child of Willis and Virginia Reniff, Rosie was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was there that she began her lifelong love of learning. An accomplished student from a young age, Rosie earned degrees in various fields; Biology, accounting, counseling, and education.  Rosie would go on to teach science and math to middle school through college level students. In addition, she worked as a tax preparer and would eventually start her own tax business after retiring from teaching.
In the late 60’s Rosie moved to Colorado to begin her teaching career at NJC in Sterling. It was there that she met and married her loving husband of 33 years, Jerry Steinmeyer, until his passing in 2003. Together they had two daughters; Beverly, and Sue. Sadly, Sue lost her battle with cancer in December 2015. Rosie was also blessed with four dynamic grandchildren; Kelly and Sean (Bev’s children), and Bryan and Breena (Sue’s children), and one extraordinary great-granddaughter, Riley (Kelly’s daughter). Rosie was smitten with all of them, and taught each one invaluable life lessons.
Rosie was an avid camper, and adventure and culture seeking world traveler. She had the good fortune to visit nearly every place that her heart and curiosity desired. She traveled the entire North and South American continents (proudly visiting ALL 50 states!) and Africa multiple times. She cruised the oceans and Amazon River, explored Disneyworld, stayed in a Tundra Buggy to quietly observe polar bears in their natural habitat, saw glaciers in Alaska by helicopter, soaked up the sun on many Caribbean islands, among many other exciting experiences.
By far however, Rosie’s greatest love was for animals. In her 80 years, she never went a day without being the loving human companion to countless, very lucky, cats and dogs. She adopted, inherited, but usually rescued, nearly all of her precious pets. Each and every animal was sacred to Rosie and she worked and gave selflessly to help ensure better lives for not only her own furry family members, but for every living creature across the planet.
Rosie wanted everyone to know that she lived a full and happy life. When she learned of her diagnosis, she faced her short future head-on, with brave acceptance, never looking back except to reflect with immense gratitude, admiration, and love for her vast network of wonderful friends and family. She asked that everyone who knew and loved her to please find comfort in the joy of having known her, and not stay long in the pain of her leaving us.

Samuel Joseph Moulder - October 13, 1944 - November 14, 2021

Departed: 11/14/2021 (Brighton)
Obituary Preview: Samuel Joseph Moulder passed away in Brighton, Colorado on November 14, 2021, was born October 13, 1944 in Orange, Texas to Ernest Cleo Moulder and Wanda Reva Smith Moulder.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by Doris Ann Tuberville Moulder, son Brian Moulder of Lincoln, Arkansas, son Keith Moulder and wife Dawn of McKinney, Texas. Grandchildren; Sarah VanHook and husband Jesse of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Hannah Moulder and fiancé Keith Hudson of Los Angeles, California, Jacob Moulder and wife Kassidy of Frisco, Texas, Aiden Moulder of McKinney, Texas and one great grandchild Jasper VanHook of Cave Springs, Arkansas. He is also survived by a sister Terry and husband Don, brother Ronnie and wife Lynn, brother Jeffrey and wife Tommie Ruth and brother Chris and wife Karen.
“Sam” was born in Texas and grew up in Colorado, spending most of his school years there.  He moved to Camden, Arkansas with his family during his senior year of high school and it has been said that he stood out like James Dean.  He met the love of his life on his first day of school at Fairview High and married her, Doris Ann Tuberville on September 20, 1963.  They had blissful, bouncing baby boy Brian in 1964 and another keen, kind-hearted baby boy Keith in 1970.  Their family moved several places over the years as Sam became a master diesel mechanic.  He was a man of great strength and possessed an incredibly strong handshake.  Some may attribute those things as what they would want to be remembered by but Sam wouldn’t say that.  It was his love of the Lord and reading the Bible that was most important to him, and raising his children to know and love the Lord, too.  He and the family moved to Camden, Arkansas, spent many years there, became involved in church and he accomplished what he set out to do.
Through the years, his heart kept leading him back to the Rocky Mountains where he had grown up, so he eventually retired and spent his latter years there.  He enjoyed a strong cup of coffee, had a passion for justice, a deep interest in genealogy and shared that oftentimes with his children and grandchildren.  If you had a conversation with him, he would focus on something positive about you and make you feel loved.  And he always doted on his children and grandchildren because he was so proud of them.
A Celebration of Life for Sam will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Believer's Church, 1600 Cash Road, Camden, Arkansas 71701.
