Lyndon was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Lyndon had the gift of gab. That gift was used many times in his ministry, that he loved so much. Lyndon would spend part of his day getting ready for the next day. He loved to sing and dance. We had a routine in the evening; early dinner, Andy Griffin, dessert and coffee. Lyndon had to have his coffee every day. My name for him was “coffee bean head”. He was a character, a card, and a pill, but very kind and giving. He will be missed. Job 14: 14, 15. She was a kind and creative soul, with a generous heart. As an ever-growing artist, her creative passions took her all over the United States and abroad. As a creative professional, she worked in wedding gown design and restoration. Adrienne sought and sold vintage and Victorian era goods for her boutiques: Blondies and White Rose Salon. Later, she taught art to Chicago’s under served youth for the Chicago Public Schools. Never not learning and creating, she received her MFA in Film from the Art Institute of Chicago at the age of 59. During this time, abstract painting became a deep passion.With all the cities she traveled to and lived in, New Orleans held a special place in her heart. After retiring, she moved to the city, not only because she loved its celebratory spirit of life and its people, but to be closer to her family and grandchildren. Her Nichiren Buddhist faith found a cherished home at the SGI-USA New Orleans Buddhist Center. Obituary Preview: Mabel Agnes Ducote Rodriguez, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in her home, in Gulfport, MS, with her loving and attentive daughter, Debra Ann, by her side. Mabel was a native of Mansura, Louisiana, residing there until her early teens, when she left to join her older sister, Hazel Wells, already living in New Orleans and happily married. It is there where Mabel graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School, and then met, and married, the love of her life, the late August Rodriguez. They were wed for 61 years at the time of her husband’s death in 2007. Together they raised and celebrated their family. Mabel retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, as an office clerk, after 44 years of service. As a happily retired couple, they enjoyed many travels, and were often joined by family on their adventure. In 2002, the couple relocated their home to Gulfport, MS, where they remained until their passing. Mabel Rodriguez was the daughter of Natalie Rabelais Ducote and Arthur Ducote of Mansura, Louisiana, in Avoyelles Parish. Sister of the late Allen, Lamar, William, Elmo, Irvin Ducote and Hazel Wells.Mabel leaves behind these loved ones to cherish her memory: daughter, Janis Walker, son-in-law Robert, granddaughter, Kate Hendrikson, her spouse, Nick, and great grandsons Walker and Blaine; daughter Debra Ann Kross and her partner, Greg Roussel, grandson Brian Anderson, great grandson Blake, and great-great granddaughter Stella Mae, and Matthew Kross, and his fiancé Lalaine Roberts; daughter Anita Esther, and granddaughter, Lauren Scallan, and her spouse, Christopher Scallan, great grandchildren Brooke, twins Kelsey and Kenzie, Tristan, Sage, and Logan, and great-great granddaughter, Ivy Mae. She will also be dearly missed by numerous nieces and nephews who have shared many joyous times and laughs with their Aunt Mabel. Mabel was the epitome of living a life of contentment. Obituary Preview: Lois Judith Fine, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024, with her family members near. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 10, 1931 as the only child of Elsie (Weinstein) Brown and David Brown. Though her father David died from an infection when she was only 2 years old, she was inspired by his work as a graphic artist to pursue art as a passion and profession. She received her graduate training at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, focusing on print making and painting. She married her childhood sweetheart, Sewall Fine, and moved with him to New Orleans, where she raised her sons David and Jonathan and joined the faculty of the Sophie Newcomb College Art Department. During her career she was represented by galleries in New York and New Orleans and her work was acquired by such institutions as the Tate Britain Gallery and the Whitney Museum of American Art and entered the collection of the Rockefeller family. Lois extended her creativity to the domestic life, sewing her own clothes and cooking, including a legendary oyster gumbo. She is survived by her sons, David (Michele) Fine of New Orleans and Jonathan (Linda) Fine of Weston, Connecticut, three grandchildren, Benjamin, Rebecca and Zachary Fine, and great-grandson, Devin Fine. Obituary Preview: Carrie Ann Keen passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the age of 50. She was born April 8, 1974 in Helena, AR, the only child of Barbara Goggins. She was raised in Elaine, AR with her mom, grandma and her extended family on a farm.  She later moved to Bryant, AR where she graduated high school in 1992. She became the perfect Army wife in 1995 when she married Jack Keen and they lived all over the US and the world, to include: Texas, Georgia, Missouri, Germany, California, Arkansas, Kansas and Hawaii before moving to Paradis, Louisiana once her husband retired from the Army in 2015.  She was a devoted mother to two sons, Tristan and Trenton, and volunteered tirelessly to make every community she was in a better place.  She instructed military wives in Family Readiness Group at every base she was at for 20 years, was a Red Cross Volunteer in Germany, volunteer at the veterinary office in Kansas, was the organizer for various fundraisers to support new military families, led the Fort Leavenworth Haunted History Tours alongside the post museum and was extremely active in the PTA in the St. Charles School System.  Carrie was the life of every party and made friends wherever she went; her love for life, family and friends knew no limit.  She brought a smile to everyone’s face and was the reason that a lot of people were able to find happiness with her eternal optimism and kind words of encouragement she gave freely and without ever expecting anything back. She loved her family unconditionally, her friends endlessly and her pets like they were her children.  She was always willing to listen to her friends and family’s problems and would always cheer them up with her infectious laugh and her undying love of life.  The family and friends will celebrate her life Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 with a visitation from 4:30 PM-6:00 PM and with a service beginning at 6:00 PM.
