Doris J Coppa - Unknown - April 10, 2022

Departed: 04/10/2022 (LINDEN)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Doris J. Marcocci Coppa, 88, left us to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022, surrounded by the love and devotion of her family.
The family respectfully asks that no one arrive earlier than the actual posted visitation times, so as not to infringe on the private time set aside for them.  Also due to special circumstances, mask wearing will be mandatory in the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, April 20th. from 3:00-7:00PM.  On Thursday, April 21st. at 9:45AM, everyone will start to gather directly at St. John the Apostle R.C. Church, Linden/Cark where the funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede Doris’s entombment in the family crypt in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.
Doris, the daughter of the late Pia Altobelli Marcocci and the late John Marcocci, was born in Robertsdale, Pennsylvania.  She resided in Linden, New Jersey for nineteen years before settling in Rahway, New Jersey for forty-eight years.  In February of 2022, Doris relocated to Freehold, New Jersey. Doris was a past officer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary Linden Knights of Columbus Council #2859 of Linden.  To the ladies of this organization, she was more than that; Doris was the go-to lady along with her side kick, Joyce Vena.  Together they organized and worked so many fund raising and charitable events - chicken/fish and pasta dinners, weekend bus rides for shopping expeditions to Pennsylvania and the ever-popular tricky trays.  Many of the members felt that these two ladies were like the Energizer bunnies, always doing for the good of others.  It was often laughed about that when Joyce raised her hand to volunteer for a job, that meant that Doris was an automatic co-chair.  All of Doris’s good works, along with her gracious demeanor were simply an offshoot of her true nature of being an outstanding, old fashioned kind of Mom.  She loved to cook for everyone, at any time and her true passion was just spending time with her large and loving family.  For Doris, there was nothing better in her life!
Predeceased by her son-in-law, George Dooley in 1998, Doris is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Carmine G. Coppa; her three children, George R. Coppa and his wife, Anne, Phyllis A. Dooley, Lisa A. Symczak and her husband, Stephen; her seven grandchildren, Megan M. Coppa. Nicholas G. Coppa, Brian G. Dooley and his wife, Silvana, Shannon N. Dooley, Stephen J. Symczak and his wife, Katie, Kevin M. Symczak and his wife, Santana and Tyler J. Symczak and her great grandchild, Giuliana M. Dooley.
Doris was truly the center of the universe for her family and her love for them had no limits.  Carmine and his family are devastated and feel so lost.  Doris will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but her smile and her love will live on in our hearts and she will never be forgotten.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Kazimiera Kowalski Szymanski, 87, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, in her home.
We respectfully request that no one arrives at the funeral home prior to the actual visitation hours, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Friday, April 8th. from 5:00-7:00PM.  On Saturday, April 9th. at 9:45AM, everyone will start to gather directly at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden where a memorial funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM.  The cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden, was private.
The family has requested that you please omit flowers.  Instead, donations in Mrs. Szymanski’s memory can be made to St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church in Linden.
Mrs. Szymanski, the daughter of the late Genowefa Kalucka Kowalski and the late Ludwik Kowalski, was born in Gwozna Gora, Poland.  She came to the United States in 1974 and she lived in Bayonne, New Jersey before settling in Linden, New Jersey in 1983.
While in Poland, Mrs. Szymanski was the chief bookkeeper for a textile company for many years.  Here in the United States, she was employed as a clerical worker for various law firms, both in New York City, New York, as well as, in New Jersey for thirty years before retiring twenty-two years ago.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Szymanski was an avid gardener.  She probably has one of the largest gardens in Linden where she grew all varieties of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.  Everything flourished under her green thumb and loving care.  Mrs. Szymanski was also an accomplished seamstress and dress maker both in Poland and the United States and she would often be making clothes for both family and friends.  As talented as she was in all her interests, her cooking was spectacular.  At the drop of a hat, she would be making her grandchildren homemade chicken soup.  Mrs. Szymanski made sure to always feed anyone who stopped by to visit her, and she never went to anyone’s home, without bringing one of her special dishes.  Cooking was most definitely her passion!  She had so many cookbooks and her garden provided many of the ingredients to try out menus, both new and old.  It was known throughout the family, that the Easter Holiday was always held at her home and the food would be delicious and abundant.  Everyone would be stuffed before they even reached the dessert course.
Mrs. Szymanski is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Karol Szymanski; her four children, Ryszard Lorek and his wife, Boguslawa, Krystyna Patholec and her husband, Mieczyslaw, Elizabeth Lorek, Hubert Szymanski and his wife, Adriana; her brother, Stanislaw Kowalski; her sister, Krystyna Bodziona; her eight grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Szymanski was the heart and soul of her family, and she was beloved by all.  Everyone’s hearts are broken by this great loss and the family appreciates all your love, support, and prayers at this time.

Michelle Drewa - Unknown - March 28, 2022

Departed: 03/28/2022 (LINDEN)
Obituary Preview: Ms. Michelle Drewa, 41, of Clark, New Jersey was given her angel wings on Monday, March 28, 2022, when she passed away at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, New Jersey.
We respectfully asked that you do not arrive at the funeral home prior to the stated visitation times, so as not to intrude on the private time for Michelle’s Mom.  Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, April 3rd. from 3:00-5:00PM.  On Monday, April 4th. at 8:30AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Linden at 10:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede Michelle’s entombment in the family crypt in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.  The family requests that you please omit flowers.
Until a few years ago, Michelle was a retail manager for Things Remembered, an engraving company in Bridgewater, New Jersey for seven years.
Her life was always brimming with activities.  Michelle loved Korean music or “K-Pop”, as it is known, and she could be found at any local Michael Bublé concert or the shows of Jeff Dunham, a comic and ventriloquist.  Her Christmas holidays were never complete, unless she saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  Michelle’s palate leaned toward Asian foods, including their specialty teas and she was forever looking for new Asian restaurants to try.  She kept active with Zumba and yoga, yet Michelle settled in to relax by reading literature and books of all types.  She added in some television watching, including reality show, dramas, but definitely the “Golden Girls” were at the top of her must watch list.  Movies were also her go to – but they better be somewhat sappy movies or the rom-coms, romantic comedies.  Michelle was very adventurous in that she would take off on the spur of the moment with friends to do a “same day road trip” and explore the surrounding states.  She was ready for whatever experiences were ahead while traveling on the road.  Even with all of this, the greatest joy in Michelle’s life was taking care of her Mom and spending time with Mom and her very special circle of friends that she considered her “sisters”.
Predeceased by her father, Richard A. Drewa in 2019, Michelle is survived by her mother, Halina Korkus Drewa; her best friends, Kathy Gabriel and Jennifer Rada and her fiancé, Jason Goodridge; her honorary niece, Amelia Goodridge; her aunts, Kazimiera Wrublewski, Halina Okwiet and her husband, Wieslaw, Danuta Drewa and her several cousins.
Michelle was always smiling and a joy to be with.  Her love for her family and friends was overflowing.  Michelle will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.

Luis was well known as an excellent cook and he enjoyed making traditional dishes for his family and friends alike, whether it was for a holiday gathering or an everyday sit down, hang out, get together day with friends.  He even joked that as a Major League Baseball fan of the New York Yankees, when he would gather with his buddies to watch the games, Luis often spent more time in the kitchen cooking for everyone.  Back in Puerto Rico, Luis had his own professional kitchen/restaurant where he specialized in home styled cooking that made everyone’s mouth water.  Music was another favorite of Luis’s – especially the vibe of the Salsa, so naturally dancing was also in his wheelhouse.  Aside from his numerous talents that kept Luis busy, - all these things would be pushed aside for his two boys:  they were the love of his life, and he would do anything for them!
In addition to his mother, Luis is survived by his two sons, Christian Arroyo and Gabriel Arroyo and his sister, Grisel Goldman and her husband, Eugene.
Luis was the shining light in the center of life for his family and he had a profusion of love for everyone in his circle.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten and we will continue to celebrate Luis for the impact he had on the many lives he touched.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Noemi Rojas Nieves, 67, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, in her home, surrounded by the love and devotion of her family.

Noemi was a store manager for Dressbarn for many years and she started to enjoy her retirement in 2018.
Outside of her work life, Noemi filled her heart with joy through a number in interests.  She was an outstanding seamstress.  Noemi enjoyed learning about styling, and she would then transform that knowledge into making clothes.  Her house was always filled with music and often, you could catch Noemi dancing around the rooms.  Noemi loved to garden, especially her flowers and her house plants – she definitely had a green thumb.  She was also a prolific Amazon shopper, so much so, that her family would often tease Noemi about it.  However, even with all these activities, Noemi simply loved being a grandmother.  Nothing gave her greater joy or purpose in her life.
Predeceased by her husband, Silverio Nieves on October 20, 2018, Noemi is survived by her three children, Anthony Castro and his wife, Yomayra, Nakisha Viera and her husband, Felix and Nydia Nieves; her four siblings, Evelyn Santiago, Miriam Roman, Abby Resto and Julio Rojas; her seven grandchildren, Naomi Rosa, Christian Viera, Felix Viera, Emilia Castro, Ethan Viera, Pablo Cruz and Damian Castro and her three great grandchildren, Alexis Valeriano, Aliya Bolanos and Ivannah Viera.

Mrs. Duchlinski was the last of her nine siblings, all who predeceased her.  She was also predeceased by her two husbands, Theodore J. Schultz in 1958 and Victor J. Duchlinski in 2003 and most recently her son, Russell “Rusty” Theodore Schultz in 2021.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a short paragraph. However, some online obituary platforms may allow for longer tributes or stories.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and help readers remember the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and requirements. Some newspapers may have online forms or email addresses for submitting obituaries, while others may require a phone call or in-person visit.
