Elizabeth Mary Creswick - October 16, 1956 - February 16, 2024

Departed: 02/16/2024 (Bayonne)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth Mary Creswick (nee Carter) of Bayonne, New Jersey passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family, after watching her favorite show, “Jeopardy!” together. Elizabeth was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and was raised by her loving parents, the late Marie Elizabeth Carter (nee O’Donnell) and Christopher Joseph Carter, who were active parishioners at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea. It was there Elizabeth attended grammar school and would later go on to teach. She continued her education at Holy Family Academy, where Elizabeth’s love of music grew as first violinist in the Orchestra, and a member of Dramatics and Glee clubs, to name a few. Out of high school, Elizabeth worked as a stock correspondent at International Nickel in New York City for nine years. During this time, she met her adoring husband, Frederick Charles Creswick, as they were paired in their best friends’ wedding party. Fred loves to joke that he met Elizabeth at the bar, where she happened to be waiting to load bridal shower gifts into the car.
When Elizabeth was due with her first child, she left her job to focus on what she was born to be, a Mother. She was the gold standard for motherhood: loving, caring, gentle, selfless, and wise. Elizabeth was a watchful mom, not only to her own children, but to all the children of the neighborhood. If there was ever an emergency on the block, the first stop was to see Mrs. Creswick. She always knew exactly what to do. Elizabeth also played an important role in the lives of countless children that she educated and nurtured in her classroom. Elizabeth began volunteering at St. Mary Star of the Sea School once all three of her children were enrolled there. She then began working as an aide in the early childhood program. Elizabeth dedicated her life to Bayonne’s littlest learners as both a teacher and aide in preschool and kindergarten classes. When Bayonne’s Catholic schools merged, Elizabeth continued to work as a pre-kindergarten aide at All Saints Catholic Academy until her retirement. During her retirement, Elizabeth enjoyed spending her time seeing family and friends, taking care of her precious dogs, Roxie and Lola, cooking delicious meals, and growing the tallest sunflowers in town. Sunflowers were Elizabeth’s favorite flower, and she took pride as passersby stopped to admire and photograph her blooms. She was always thinking about others. She put everybody before herself – her husband, her children, her students, family, and neighbors. Elizabeth built her life around love for others.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Frederick Charles Creswick, and her adoring children, Brian (Kay), Steven, and Diane. She is also survived by her sister, Regina Marie Carter, and her daughter Genevieve Stiles, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren, whom she adored.

In most cases, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased. Funeral homes or mortuaries may also assist in writing or editing the obituary. In some cases, a professional obituary writer may be hired to craft the notice.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, interests, and surviving family members.
