Obituary Preview: Irene Solberg, 96, of Williams, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Accura Healthcare in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services.
Irene A. Solberg was born on August 26, 1925 in Webster City, Iowa to Oscar and Mary (Matz) Schweppe. She graduated from the Williams High School. On November 22, 1947, Irene was united in marriage to Harry Solberg in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams.
Irene worked several different jobs over the years but her two favorites were being a mother and grandma. She loved to cook and bake. Everyone was welcome to pull up a chair at her house. She loved to travel with her twin sister Eileen and brother-in-law Ed. She also loved her family and taking pictures, she always had a camera in her hand where ever she went and no one could hide from her. Irene loved to crochet.
Irene is survived by her daughter Eileen Thompson of Ames, son Robert (Linda) Solberg of Williams, granddaughter Wendy Thompson of Ames and grandson Nathan Solberg of Rochester, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry “Bud”, granddaughter Amanda Solberg, brothers Lawrence, Leo, Arthur and Francis, sister Eileen Schuh, a brother and two sisters in infancy.
