Avis E. GoForth - December 31, 1949 - April 03, 2022

Departed: 04/03/2022 (Plains)
Obituary Preview: Avis (Knutson) Goforth was born December 31, 1949 in Ada, Minn. to Selmer and Evelyn Knutson. She passed away April 3, 2022, with her loving husband and sons by her side.
She grew up on the family farm near Gary, Minn., graduated from Gary High School, and married Sonny VanderLinden in 1968. They had three sons: Brian (Narita), James, and TJ (Jaralyn) VanderLinden. They were later divorced. She married James Goforth in 1999 and they combined families to include Cindy (Rick) Teixeira, Tim (Lisa) Goforth, and Christine (Tony) Corso.
Her boys remember her good cooking, but especially fried chicken, hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes, fried apples and cinnamon over vanilla ice cream, and home fries. Favorite outings included weekend fishing trips to Scooteney and Pot Holes reservoirs. Avis was the favorite grandma to 13 grandchildren and grea- grandma to four. She had a huge amount of love for her grandkids and always planned activities for their visits. She shared new adventures and opportunities for making memories, despite her chronic back pain.
She was a great homemaker and always had a clean house, never letting anything stack up on the dining table. It was a habit she developed as a result of her upbringing. She loved having a beautiful flower-filled yard and many friends and family were thrilled to receive her home- crafted gifts. She always made the most of what she had.
Avis and Jim traveled to a number of amazing places throughout their marriage from their home base in Trout Creek, Mont. They visited family and made their way to some of the country’s most beautiful places. One of the highlights was walking across the headwaters of the Mississippi River. The biggest disappointment was traveling through the Tetons and not being able to see much because the cloud cover was too low. Once they were instructed to take shelter in a concrete campground bathroom should the tornado sirens go off. Another time, they waited beneath an underpass for a storm to pass- again tornadoes! He loved her meatloaf. She hated making it, but she made it for him anyway. He also loved her gingersnap cookies.
She is survived by seven sisters, Nyla Conrad, Salem, Mis., Karen Roberson, Richland, Wash., Lynda Rogers, Little Falls, Minn., Gayle (Lyle) Morrison, West Bend, Wis., twin sister Mavis (Myron) Peterson, Caledonia, Minn., Cyndi Burnard, Brainerd, Minn., Pam (Jeff) Winkelman, Aurora, Colo., and brother Clinton 'Sam' (Marlene) Knutson, Gary, Minn.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bette Preeman, and son James.

Frances Parker - February 23, 1937 - February 28, 2022

Departed: 02/28/2022 (Plains)
Obituary Preview: On Feb 28, 2022 Frances Loretta Parker passed away of natural causes. She was surrounded by siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Frances was born in Superior Montana on Feb 23, 1937 to Theodore and Loretta Warnken. She was one of 10 children raised on the Warnken Ranch west of Superior. Early on, Frances learned hard work and the value of family, which was very important to her.
In St. Regis Montana, while waiting tables, Frances met the love of her live, Richard (Guy) Parker. A little over a month later, they were married. In 1958, they had their son Richard and in 1973, their daughter Loretta was born. Frances and Guy’s two-step on the dance floor at the Mineral County Fair, was the happiest you’ve ever seen.
Early in their marriage, Frances was called upon to care for her brother James, after an accident that left him paralyzed, something that took no hesitation and turned out to be a true calling. Frances spent most of her life worried for others, more than she worried for herself.
For many years on the ranch, Frances always had lunch prepared for the ranch hands and field workers. You could always count on a cold glass of Kool-Aid out of an old green glass pitcher and a bologna sandwich. She was the first to rise and the last to sleep, holding true to her duties of being a caregiver, rancher, wife and mother. She was always up for a conversation at the dining room table, with a cup of coffee and a smile.
Frances was proceeded in death by her husband Richard and her brothers Gerry, Dwight, Richard & James. She is survived by her sisters Patricia, Rosemary and Susan (Hugh), her brothers Clifford and Donald (Beverly), her children Richard (Jennifer) and Loretta (Kylie), 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Departed: 02/23/2022 (Plains)
Obituary Preview: John Kenneth Weekley November 27, 1952 – February 23, 2022 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
John wore many hats during his time on Earth: son, brother, friend, athlete, soldier, husband, and teacher. In Winslow, AZ, he realized his dream of becoming a teacher. He absolutely loved teaching Freshman English/Language Arts at Winslow High School. The first vocabulary word he wrote on the board each school year was ya’ll; one of his imagery lessons had the students close their eyes while he described a backyard cookout; one writing prompt had him seeking advice from students concerning his decision to become a cheerleader.
John Kenneth Weekley, 69, passed away peacefully at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains, MT on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, due to diabetic complications.
John was born in McComb, MS on November 27, 1952 (Thanksgiving Day) to Eris A. and Jessie B. East Weekley. In 1973 John joined the United States Air Force and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1979. Some of his former students enlisted in a military branch due to his influence. He loved to travel (especially to Yellowstone) and enjoyed many road trips around the country with Lou by his side or asleep in the backseat. John always appreciated a good joke and a laugh. His easy-going nature consistently made folks feel right at home around him. John loved living in Thompson Falls. He loved living in the country where he and Lou could enjoy viewing wildlife. He would get so excited when the elk would begin to arrive for a visit.  John would tell you that everything had worked so smoothly and so perfectly that he knew God brought them here. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters – Gayle Weekley Johnston and Bobbye Jean Weekley Rasberry; special family friend Linda Harris Orr; a host of family and friends; several fur babies, including a part Siamese cat named Sam.
He is survived by his wife of 41 adventurous happy years Mary Lou Thornton Weekley of Thompson Falls, MT; two nieces, Terry Johnston Sinclair of Denham Springs, LA and Shannon Ramsey Moak (Tony) of Wesson, MS; two nephews, Keith Johnston of Maurepas, LA and Eric Ramsey of Mangum, OK; special friends, Charlie Ford and Mike and Alice Thweatt of McComb, MS; four feline fur babies of Thompson Falls, MT – Casper, Hamlet, Romeo, and Sadie.
At John's request cremation will take place under the care of Sunset Hills Funeral Home and Crematory in Thompson Falls, MT.
