He was born in Russellville, Kentucky to the late Ronald Switzer and Martha Cleavinger Switzer. He retired from Logan Aluminum as an accountant. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Clark Switzer and brother, Ronnie Switzer.
Gerry was a Regional Golf Medalist, individual state qualifier and led the 1970 Russellville High School State Champion Golf Team as their number one player and top scorer in his senior season. In 1968, at 15 years old, he became the youngest member to win the Club Championship at Russellville County Club, which he won an additional four times. Gerry played 4 years of college golf for WKU and received his BS degree in accounting. He retired from Logan Aluminum in 2010. He was later inducted into the Russellville Alumni Association’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
