Ryan Jan Eagleson - December 17, 1968 - April 09, 2022

Departed: 04/09/2022 (Woodbury)
Obituary Preview: Ryan Jan Eagleson, 53, of Bedford, passed away suddenly at his home on April 9, 2022. He was born on December 17, 1968 in Bedford; son of Vicky (Ferry) Defibaugh and Robert J. Eagleson, who both survive.
Ryan was formerly married to Amy L. (Growden) Lohr and leaves behind their son, Jacob R. Eagleson of Bedford; Ryan's significant other, Laura Delozier and her son Samuel; his granddaughter, Layla, and grandson, Liam; his step-mother, Pam Eagleson; brother, Mathew Eagleson; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and his dog, Widdles, that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jamie Lynn Eagleson; stepfather, Gary L. Defibaugh of Bedford; his grandparents, T. Richard and Helen J. Ferry of New Enterprise and Cliff and Marcella Eagleson of Bedford; and his dog, Beasley, whom all greeted him upon his arrival in Heaven.
Ryan was a veteran of the United States Air Force and also the United States Army.  He was a borough Police officer for Everett and after a short time with the Pennsylvania State Police, he decided that career was not what he was cut out for, but spent the rest of his life regretting that decision.
He drove truck throughout the United States, relocating in Florida and later Arizona.  He loved seeing the historic sites the states had to offer and the majestic views that allowed him to capture the beautiful pictures that he shared with his many friends and family. Ryan loved talking history to anyone and could argue with the best on his theories on world events.
He settled back in Bedford several years ago and was glad to be home. Ryan had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  He loved the outdoors and being at the family camp, roaming the mountain in Texas Corner. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral services, nor donations to any charity.

Linda L. Bassler - April 07, 1951 - January 30, 2022

Departed: 01/30/2022 (Woodbury)
Obituary Preview: Linda L. (Dodson) Bassler April 7, 1951 – January 30, 2022
Our hearts were broken on January 30th, 2022, as we had to say goodbye to the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that existed in this lifetime. She left us to meet her Savior and to reunite with her husband Gary, who left us just one month ago. The last words she spoke were “I love you”, which will be the hardest words for us to never hear from her again. We feel so fortunate that we were placed with her in this life. She cherished every second with her family and had a very special and individualized relationship with each one of us.
She was born on April 7th,1951 in Hopewell, Pennsylvania. She married Gary on November 9th, 1968. She attended Tussey Mountain High School, Class of 1969. She was baptized on September 1st,1974. She graduated from Altoona School of Commerce in 1984, and then enrolled in coursework to complete her bachelor’s degree while working full-time. She established a career at several companies, including North American Communications, Giant Foods and Valk Manufacturing Company. She eventually retired from Valk as the corporate controller.
In her younger years, she enjoyed boating, camping, visiting with friends and participating in anything that her children and Gary had planned. In her later years, she eagerly anticipated going on yearly family beach trips, having weekly family dinners and attending all the activities that the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in.
She is survived by her son Scott Bassler and fiancée Lori Chamberlain of Woodbury, PA and her daughter Dawn Bassler-Howard and husband Michael of Frostburg, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren Breah Boor and spouse Adam of Cary, NC, Alexis Corl and spouse Jordan of Martinsburg, PA, Dillon Bassler and spouse Alicia of Martinsburg, PA, Lydia Claar and long term partner Russell of Frostburg, MD and Reis Howard of Frostburg, MD. Her great-grandchildren include Raelynn and Addyson Corl and Harlee and Oaklee Bassler. She leaves behind her sisters Nancy Brown, Deb Dasher and Jean Walters, as well as her brothers Bobby, Frank, and Bill Dodson. She also leaves behind a very special cousin and friend Michael Domenick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, who died on December 30th, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Twilla and Paul Dodson, and her siblings Carol, Paul Jr., and Richard Dodson.
Her patience, honesty and expressions of love were precious gifts to this family. She was always available to make your favorite food or to just talk and encourage you. Those meals and conversations will be deeply missed. We love you and know that we have a beautiful angel watching over us now and forever.
There will be a private viewing for immediate family only. A combined memorial service to celebrate Linda and Gary’s lives and memory will be held at a later date for all family and friends.

Gary Chester Bassler - July 06, 1948 - December 30, 2021

Departed: 12/30/2021 (Woodbury)
Obituary Preview: Gary Chester Bassler, also known as GB, Dad, and Pap, went to be with his Lord on December 30th, 2021 after fighting an uphill battle in warrior style. Although he felt that he had more time to spend here with all of us, he let us know “If the good Lord wants me, he is going to take me.” He dedicated his life to the Lord on April 17th, 1957 and always believed.
He was born on July 6th, 1948 as a premature infant. His parents were told that he had a 1 in 10,000 chance of survival. Through the grace of God and the devotion of his parents, he was given these precious years on earth.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Bassler, or as he referred to her, “Lou.” Also surviving is his son Scott Bassler and fiancée Lori Chamberlain of Woodbury, PA; daughter Dawn Bassler-Howard and husband Michael of Frostburg, MD; grandchildren Breah Boor and spouse Adam of Cary, NC, Alexis Corl and spouse Jordan of Martinsburg, PA, Dillon Bassler and spouse Alicia of Martinsburg, PA, Lydia Claar and long term partner Russell of Frostburg, MD and Reis Howard of Frostburg, MD; great-grandchildren Raelynn and Addyson Corl and Harlee and Oaklee Bassler. Gary also leaves behind a brother Fred Bassler and wife Cheryl. Lastly, he leaves his lifelong friends Erwin and Joyce Bassler and Jim and Bev Albright. Special friends also include Michael Domenick, Daryl Leach, and “Woody” who he talked with on the phone more than anyone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ora Bassler.
He graduated from Northern Bedford High School in 1966 and married Linda on November 9th, 1968. Then, he proudly became the owner and operator of Grubbs’s Body Shop from 1974-1997. Finally, he retired from Farmers Insurance as a Senior Claims Representative.
Gary was truly one of a kind with the biggest personality in the room. He loved the USA and those who fought for his freedom. He enjoyed engaging in conversations with everyone about his favorite topics, such as cars, history and politics. He knew who he was and did not waver from his opinions even when no one else agreed. He was as real as you get in this lifetime.
In his younger years, he enjoyed drag racing and roller skating at Cypher Beach. He also spent time boating, water skiing, hill climbing, and camping in those days. In his later years, he enjoyed tinkering with small projects, watching old western movies, playing spades with his grandchildren, and working on his lifelong labor of love, restoring his 1966 Shelby GT350 Hertz car.
He will be remembered by so many people, as he had a presence about him. When you were with him, you never knew what was ahead of you. After each adventure, he would always say “...but didn’t we have fun?” We will never forget his unpredictable behavior and his “Gary Basslerisms.” We know that he is already making friends and telling stories in heaven. We miss you so much already and love you always.
There will be a private viewing for immediate family only. A memorial service to celebrate his life and memory will be held at a later date for all of his family and friends.
