He was born January 28, 1943 to Everett and Mary (Baird) Shelton in Hillsboro.  He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and infant sibling, Richard Leslie Shelton.
George married Joyce L. Thomas on April 24, 1965 in Pana, IL.  To that marriage were born three children; Steven D (Kris) Shelton of Pawnee, Susan J. (Paul) Sarsany of Atlanta, GA and Everett Tom (Susan) Shelton of Litchfield.  (Son, Rick Luck from previous marriage).
Grandchildren are; Adam and Katarina Shelton, Abby and Grant Shelton and Andrew & Allison Sarsany.  Zach Luck, Kayla Lefler and Amanda Daugherty.  There are 7 Great grandkids; Addison, Peyton, Rylan and Colton Lefler, Regan & Rylee Luck and Margaret Daugherty.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sibling, Janet K. (Alan) Janssen.  George loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to their baseball, soccer and other sports events.
He drove for Martin's Supply of Witt, worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Decatur, Coffeen Coal Company and Crown III in Farmersville.  He was a member of Witt United Methodist Church and helped out with many church activities.
Visitation is Friday, April 1, 2022 from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M. at the Witt United Methodist Church.  Funeral services will follow and a dinner for everyone will be held in the church basement. Mrs Codemo was born March 4, 1934 in Hillsboro, IL to Bernice (Lang) and Ira Richmond.  She and Robert E. Codemo were married for many years and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children: Roberta L. Codemo of Springfield, Kevin L. Codemo of Normal and Vicki Loskot of Nokomis and sister Mary Howe-McKain of Virden.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings William Richmond, Janita Wilhelm, Wanda Niehaus, Lee Richmond, CJ Richmond and half brother Vic Siders.

Funeral services for Mr. Hadley will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis at 2:00 P.M with Pastor Philip Lowe officiating.  Family and friends may call at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM, prior to the services.  Internment will be at Fairview Church Cemetery, Nokomis, immediately following the services.
Mr Hadley was born December 30, 1926 in Witt Township, Illinois to David & Stella (Howard) Hadley.  He and Margie Lee Bangert were married in 1946 in Vincennes, IN and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2018.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Randel of Witt; grandchildren Brett (Niki) Randel of Nokomis, Traci Lowe of Springfield, Kevin Hadley of Nokomis, Joseph (Mikiko) Lemanski of Hoffman Estates and Shanna Kay Boyer of Decatur; great grandchildren Kristen (Josh Downs) Meiners, Philip (Cassandra) Lowe, Christian (Liz Patrick) Randel, Koji Lemanski and Carson Boyer; great great grandchildren Asher Meiners, Violet Downs, Lucas Downs, Aiden Lowe and Adelaide Lowe.

Joseph "Joe" Edward Lowe - February 19, 1963 - March 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Joseph "Joe" E. Lowe 59 of Witt, Illinois passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at his home in Witt, Illinois. The son of JT and Kathleen (Hopley) Lowe he was born February 19, 1963 in Hillsboro, IL. He married Billie Briggs October 11, 2003. She survives as do children Shelby Thacker of Maryville, IL. and Blake Thacker of Raymond, IL. and sister Dawn (Brad) Young of Hillsboro. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Mike, Jack and Phil Lowe.
Joe graduated from Witt Schools, retired from Illinois Department of Corrections and was a proud member of the Witt Lions.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Saturday April 2, in the Witt Lions Park Building. Dawn Young will be sharing thoughts and prayers. Burial will follow in Witt Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Witt Lions Club.

Obituary Preview: F. Marie (VandenBergh) Sarsany, 83, of Witt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at her home lovingly surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was born December 11th, 1938 in Pana, IL to Eva and Joe VandenBergh.
Mrs. Sarsany was a graduate of Nokomis High School, Class of 1956.  She was a housewife, mother and grandmother and worked as the City Clerk in Witt, IL.  She was a devout Catholic, a member of the NCCW, and a long-time Lioness member. She enjoyed running the funnel cake stand and making beautiful dolls and quilts for the Witt Homecoming; to name just a few of her many passions and talents. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family. Those who knew Marie will never forget how kind, caring, and compassionate she was to everyone she met.
Marie is survived by her husband Paul; 2 siblings, Mike VandenBergh and Linda Graham; 5 children, Paula (Mike) West – Chicago, IL., Michele (Mark) Grueninger - Louisville, KY., Paul (Susan) Sarsany - Atlanta, GA., Brian - Chicago, IL., and Stephen - Chicago, IL.; 10 grandchildren, Elle West, Caroline West, Leah West, Jocelyn Grueninger, Nick Grueninger, Claire Grueninger, Matthew Grueninger, Andrew Sarsany, Allison Sarsany, and Dylan Sarsany.
Mrs. Sarsany was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Eva VandenBergh, brother Lee VandenBergh, and sister Joan Gehlbach.
Visitation will be held at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL on Friday, March 25th, 5-7pm with Rosary at 7pm. Funeral service on Saturday, March 26th at St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, IL. Interment following at St. Barbara's Cemetery in Witt, IL.

Mrs Fullerton was born September 9, 1930, in Sewickley, PA. to Stephen and Mary (Karpovich) Kernich.
She graduated high school. She and George Fullerton were married in 1957 in Mississippi and were the proud parents of G. Christopher Fullerton of Eden Prairie, MN, Anamarie Nelson of Chicago, IL., Stephen P. Fullerton of Grand Junction, CO, Amy S. Bratcher of Lohman, MO and Jeffrey T. Fullerton of Carbondale, IL.  She has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Ellen was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, for over 60 years and was a big supporter of the Church and School efforts. American Legion Auxiliary, C.C.W. and the St. Louis Church Quilters. For years she helped call bingo out at Golden Manor and always made an effort to stop in and say hello whenever she could.
She was arguably the biggest St. Louis Cardinal fan in the area counted down the days from the time the season ended until spring training began. She was an ardent animal lover who supported many different charitable causes and foundations to help protect animals of all types. At home, her yard was a place where nearly any feathered or furry friend could get a bite as she stayed stocked up on peanuts, birdseed, cat and dog food so that none would go hungry.
She was also famous for her $2 bills and scratch off tickets as she sent dozens of cards and letters to friends and family when a birthday or anniversary came around each year.

Sharon Ka Hethmon - Unknown - February 16, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ka Hethmon, 81, of Nokomis went to join our Lord on February 16, 2022  surrounded by family at St. John’s Hospital.
Sharon Ka (Beard) Hethmon was born March 13, 1941 in Cairo, Illinois to Eulene Troutman. She was one of three children; Julia (Judy) Warden of Champaign, Illinois, and Charles Troutman of Ocean Shores, Washington. Ka spent her childhood honing her artistic talent and cooking skills with her grandmother with which she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Ka met Carl Hethmon while working at General Telephone in Carbondale IL. They were married on April 28, 1967. They and their three children, Stacey DeJaynes of Nokomis, IL, Lynn (Maureen) Hethmon of Anchor, IL, and Julia (John) Crowe of Nokomis, IL, moved around Southern Illinois as Carl’s work pulled them. As their children grew older and started families of their own, Ka and Carl settled in Centralia, Illinois.
Ka loved learning of her family history and spent many hours studying genealogy. She enjoyed fishing, music, and, if the occasion arose, arguing politics.  Ka loved spending time with her fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She and Carl created a welcoming and loving home for not only their children, but also their grandchildren and, eventually, their great-grandchildren.
Ka was blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Timothy (Michell) DeJaynes of Tampa, FL, Kasie DeJaynes of Centralia, IL, James (Sarah) Hethmon of Webb City, MO, Justin (Chelsea) DeJaynes of Irvington, IL, Danielle McLeod of Bloomington, IL, J’dah (Cyrus) Koger of Nokomis, IL, Jessica (Jake) Thorndyke of Saybrook, IL, Matthew (Brenann) Crowe of O’Fallon, IL, Jonathan Hethmon of Colfax, IL, Rachel McLeod of Gibson City, IL, Lauren McLeod of Gibson City, IL, Connor McLeod of Georgetown, IL, Jorgia Crowe of Nokomis, IL, ; and great-grandchildren: Jake, Alivia, and Elias DeJaynes; Kainen DeJaynes, Ryder, Carl, & Geneva Koger, Mackenzie Ka & Bo Daryle Thorndyke, Lilian, Nolan, Lennon, Leighton, & Layn Crowe, Alexandria McLeod, and Kye & Jiana McLeod.
Ka was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; mother, Eulene; sister, Judy; and loving pet-companion miniature dachshund, Evelyn.
Visitation will be held at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL on Sunday, February 20th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with services to follow.

Patricia Lee Hamlin - February 14, 1962 - February 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Patricia Lee Hamlin, 59, of Nokomis, IL, passed away on February 13th, 2022 in her home after a long battle with ALS.
Pattie was born on February 14,1962 to Russell and Geraldine Rhoades in Hillsboro, IL. She was their second born with an older brother, Wayne Rhoades of Nokomis, and younger sister, Karen Cornell (Don) of Belleville, IL. In 1985, Pattie met Lester D. Hamlin at the Corner Cave in Nokomis, IL and the rest was history. They married on July 12, 1986 and went on to have 4 children; Sabrina Jones (Ralph) of Nokomis, Samantha Bryant (Zachary) of Havana, Sierra Dodd (Eric) of Taylorville and Lukas Hamlin (Elizabeth) of Nokomis.
Pattie graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1980 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in Special Education.  Shortly after, she began her teaching career working with special needs students in Pana and eventually Nokomis.  If you knew Pattie, you know she was unstoppable.  She went on to earn her Master's Degree in Educational Administration while raising four young children and flourishing in her teaching position.  Pattie’s hard work earned her the prominent position of Assistant Director of Midstate Special Education.  She retired in June 2017, after 31 years of teaching and advocating for students and their families. She was a very active member of her community serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also led the United Methodist Youth Group and organized numerous mission trips. Most recently, she was honored to receive the Hero’s Award and the Regional Leadership Award.  Pattie was recognized for her contribution of thousands of signatures advocating for a policy change for services to help people with ALS.  Additionally, she led her community in fundraising for ALS, resulting in over $100,000 raised toward the cause.
Pattie’s drive and positivity were contagious to everyone lucky enough to be in her company.  She motivated her own children, as well as hundreds others, to value their education and work hard toward their goals.  She was an amazing role model to her 7 grandchildren, which were her pride and joy.  She enjoyed hosting sleepovers, spoiling them with candy and snacks, and seeing their daily Snapchats.  She blessed her friends and family with her smart sense of humor and her uncanny ability to know the right way to do everything. She was incredibly strong and never gave up.

Carlos was born July 6, 1950 to Moises and Catalina (Obregón) Padilla on his grandfather`s cacao producing farm near San Antonio Suchitepequez, Guatemala in Central America, where he was raised. He went on to graduate from high school and completed a technical degree in automotive mechanics and completed 3 years of college. He and Angelica Monge were married May 12, 1973. He was a retired mechanic, bus salesman, and had an entrepreneurial spirit.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Carlos Roberto (Adela) Padilla of Guatemala, Angelica Lissette (Michael) Jones of Litchfield, Moises Estuardo Padilla of Nashville, TN, José Fernando Padilla of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Glorimania De León, Elsa Marina Perez, Luz Angelica Padilla and Odilia Diaz; grandchildren Roberto José Padilla, Lissette María Padilla, Charlotte Grace Hickman and American family Robert and Leticia Moomey.
Carlos will be remembered for his love of God, family, friends, and life in general. He was strong, but always a gentleman. He was proud of his Guatemalan heritage and always grateful of the opportunities America gave him, loving this nation dearly. Carlos truly realized The American Dream working and raising his family in Nokomis, IL. His mischievous smile would always light up a room. He was an artist at heart, a captivating story teller, had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his country/western and mariachi music, and was a passionate poet both in reciting and writing. His generous heart touched many throughout his lifetime. His home was always open to friends and family, never turning anyone away who needed help. She was born December 9th, 1938, in Nokomis, to John Stolte and Grace (Altevogt) Stolte. She went to Nokomis schools. She cleaned houses, did ironing, and babysat for tons of family members. She was a longtime member at First Baptist Church in Nokomis.  She enjoyed watching Randy Orton on wrestling. She also loved watching Days of Our Lives.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and taking care of her bird. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.  She is survived by two sisters Norma Porter of Nokomis and Linda Zupanci of Nokomis, Two children Dale Lee Stolte and Lisa Marie Stolte both of Nokomis. Six grandchildren Dale Stolte Jr and Della Stolte of Litchfield, Katrina Silvy of Witt, Daniel Oakley Jr. and MacKenzie Oakley of Nokomis, Miranda Silvy of Witt, Dustin Oakley and Heather Oakley of Irving, Cheyenne Overla and Ricky Overla of Nokomis. Seven great grandchildren Deven Stolte, Sophia Overla, Isabella Wicker, Cooper Oakley, Dominic Stolte, Maddlynn Oakley and Grace Stolte. Several Nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Earl Stolte Sr., and sister Irene Morris. She was a loving and caring

Clarence William Keiser, 95, of Witt, IL, passed away January 30, 2022 at 3:50 P.M. at the Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL.
He was born on October 2, 1926 a son of the late Benjamin C. Keiser and Genevieve (Fricke) Keiser.
Clarence was a farmer and truck driver most of his life. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis, IL, member of the American Farm Heritage in Greenville, IL, Massey Collectors of Illinois, Massey Collectors of American,  Midstate Tractor Club and was a Rountree Township Officer.
Mr. Keiser was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He married the former Melba Irene Luken on February 19, 1955 and she survives. They were married 67 years.
He is also survived by his son, David (Sasha) Keiser of Marine, IL and granddaughter Oliva Keiser; sister, Doris Johnson of Nokomis, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dan Keiser; brother, Roy Keiser; sister, Betty Dahler

Mr. Sanders was born October 9, 1936 in Audubon Township to Alice (Hill) and Oral Sanders.  After graduating from high school he served in the Army National Guard.  He married Barbara Shoemaker they divorced.  He married Judy Engelhart they divorced.  Murel worked as a carpenter, farmer and coal miner and was a member of the Nokomis Volunteer Firemen.
He is survived by his children Dara (David) Berner of Oconee, Debra Sanders of Pana, Michelle (Larry) Koontz of Pana, Kevin (Carmen) Sanders of Nokomis, grandchildren and great grandchildren and long time friend Judy Spindel. Obituary Preview: Mr. Charles (Chuck) Alfred O’Malley, 93, of Witt, passed away on January 19, 2022, surrounded by his family. The son of William and Celia (Brown) O’Malley, he was born on April 18, 1928, in their home in Audubon Township. He attended Star School in Witt through 8th grade where he was Valedictorian due to the fact that his other classmate failed. He graduated from Witt High School in 1944.
He served two years in the Army stationed in Ohm, Germany. When he returned, he farmed with his father and spent time carpentering with his uncle Francis “Skeek” O’Malley. He owned O’Malley’s Lounge for several years with his brother Dennis.  He eventually took over the family farm and married Karel (DeWerff Grunenwald) on April 12, 1969, when he became a stepfather to Jody. Chuck retired from farming in 1993 and then began roofing with John DeWerff’s crew, which he loved to do.
His life will be remembered through his wife, Karel, his children, Angie (Curt) Barker of Camdenton, MO and their children, Madison (Kelsey) Barker, of Springfield, IL, and Michaela Barker of Champaign, IL; Charlie (Gia) O’Malley and their daughters, Ally and Abby of Nokomis, IL; Jody (Michael) Lang of Athens, WI, and their children Matt (Jen) Lang of Wausau, WI, Kyle (Christina) Lang of McFarland, WI, and Heidi (Paul) Schmidt of Washington, IL; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Doris) and Donnie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Gerald, and his sister, Dorothy Anne (Wayne) Kottwitz.
He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, served on the Nokomis Elevator Board for a number of years and a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, chasing the 300 game in bowling for many years, and being pranked by his roofing buddies. Chucky will long be remembered as someone who loved to make people laugh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 am in St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis with visitatioin Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at the church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery with full military rites by the Nokomis American Legion.
Memorials can be made to St. Louis Catholic School or St. Louis Church in Nokomis, IL.

He survives as do daughters Debbie (Rick) Cearlock of Coalton, Vicki (Joe) Beasley of Nokomis and step daughter Deborah (Terald) Kniffen of Whittington, IL.; grandchildren Vanessa Taylor, Tyler (Jenny) Cearlock, Jeremy (Jennifer) Beasley, Kristan (Ben) Endris, Kerri (Amanda) Beasley, Garrett Kniffen, Cody (Jessi) Kniffen; great grandchildren Drake and Grady Taylor, Remi and Kenna Cearlock, Cora Waggoner, Jacob Beasley, Melia and Gavin Endris; brothers Jim (Carolyn) Charles of Largo, Florida and Joe (Pat) Charles of Virden.
Loretta was a dental assistant for Dr, Welch and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the CCW and the Church Quilters. She was awarded the CCW Women of Distinction Award.  She enjoyed baking and reading Romance Novels but her true joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter in infancy.
Funeral mass will be held Monday Jan, 17 at 11:00 am in St. Louis Catholic Church with visitation 2 hours prior.  Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. The family asks that you wear masks and be safe. Wendy went on to follow her dream of becoming a nurse after graduating from the Lincoln Land Registered Nursing Program. Wendy continued her education through Chamberlain University, earning her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in nursing. Wendy was a registered nurse at Barnes Jewish Children’s Hospital, St. John’s Hospital, and Life Path Hospice as well as the Director of Hospice at Fayette County Health Department in Vandalia, IL.
Wendy touched the lives of countless patients and families with her gentle care, abundant empathy, and boundless love. Her ever-present, radical positivity healed and comforted everyone she met. Wendy married Joel Kuperman on Valentine’s Day, 2017. Wendy’s daughters, Hannah Stewart-El Hendy and Allie Dawson are proud of their mom for all she accomplished in her professional career and personal relationships. In Wendy’s own words, “Life is full of ups and downs, what matters most is not how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get back up, smile, and try again, hopefully inspiring others along the way.” Wendy’s life is an inspiration to many, especially her daughters.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Michael Lutz. She is survived by her husband, Joel Kuperman; daughters Hannah Stewart-El Hendy (husband, Amir),  Allie Dawson (partner, Andrew), step-sons Christopher Glass and Ryan Glass (partner, Scott Humphreys), mother Carole Barricklow (husband, Paul), sisters Reonna Hand (husband, Michael), Aubrey Marfell (husband, Jerrod), nieces Chelsea Hand-Sheridan (husband, David), Brenna Orlando (husband, Matthew), Haedyn Marfell, and nephews Maddoc and Mitchell Marfell.
Wendy’s services will take place at the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm with the funeral to follow on Wednesday January 12th at 11 am. Robert better known as Rob, was born on October 9, 1960 at Madigan Army Hospital, Tacoma, Washington near Ft. Lewis, US Army post where his father was stationed at the time.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1978 and Lincoln Land Community College in 1982.
He married Tawny Rae Meek on October 25, 1994 in Springfield, Illinois where they shared 27 years of a loving married life.
He worked for many years at Montgomery Ward while that company was in business.  He also worked for Access Springfield, driving a bus for disabled people until he became disabled himself with a genetic disease called Myotonic Dystrophy.
Besides his wife and parents he leaves behind his two brothers, Ronald “Ron” (Janet) of Hillsboro and Roger (Kay) of Bunker Hill; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Riley.   He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy, a step-sister, Paula Stawicki, his step-mother, Linda, and his step-father, Claude Pearson, Jr.
