Andrew Robert Smith - Unknown - January 16, 2022

Departed: 01/16/2022 (Callicoon)
Obituary Preview: “How’s the happiness level?” As those who knew him can attest, Andrew Smith was a man who wanted nothing more than for everyone around him to be happy. And on Sunday, January 16th 2022, Andy passed on to that eternal happiness that knows no sorrow or loss. He was 60 years old.
Andrew Robert Smith of Callicoon, NY was born on December 12, 1961 in Akron, Ohio to Robert Munro Smith and Ruth Rickloff Smith. On June 21st , 1986 he married Alissa Symes McGrady of Hankins, NY and together they raised six children: Alexander, Sarah, Kristina, Bryant, Julia, and Laura.
Andy was a true Renaissance man, and he was equally at home building a house from the ground up, or growing bounteous crops of fruits and vegetables in his lush organic gardens, or whooping down muddy trails on a bike with his sons, or staying up late by the campfire to discuss the mysteries of the Universe, or taking his daughters and granddaughters fishing and handing them the rod when he inevitably hooked a lunker. He had that rare combination of original creativity, practical skill, innate curiosity, noble aspirations, and love for life which, when combined with his sincere desire to see everyone prosper and his irreverent humor, made him the kind of fellow that everybody loves to love.
Andrew held out against a terminal illness beyond all hope and expectations, and finally took his rest, in his home, surrounded by family on Sunday afternoon exactly 13 years to the day after the passing of his father, Robert Munro Smith. He is survived by his wife Alissa Smith, his mother, Ruth Rickloff Smith, his siblings Gordon Smith, Jonelle Rizzi, and Carolyn Anderson, his six children, five grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws, and extended family.
