Obituary Preview: Keith Jeralds, 59, of Schneider, Indiana passed away at his home on May 9, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Hammond, Indiana on January 28, 1965, the son of Jack Jeralds and Marcia Poortinga.
Keith proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, specializing in security. He loved being in the Air Force. He was a loyal and honorable man.
He was a member of Village Baptist Church in Lake Village and the Lowell VFW Post #6841. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with family, watching war movies and MASH, firearms, and football.
Keith was a loving and devoted husband, and a very proud and loving dad. He loved with all his heart and would give you the shirt off his back. You could always count on him to make you laugh and smile. Even in his darkest days he brought light to so many others. We were all so blessed to have known him. He will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terry (Coldiron) Jeralds; his children: Caleb Jeralds, Tobias Jeralds, Timothy Jeralds, Nathan Bassett, Joshua Weller, Chris Estes, Angie Pittman-Stadnik (John), Melissa Paxson (Ashley), and Jill Taveras (Ramon); grandchildren: Kelly, Robert, Christa, and Noah; his father, Jack Jeralds (Lydia); his mother, Marcia Poortinga; brothers: Brent J. Jeralds and David Lucas (Jennifer), sisters: Roxanne Hogge, Michelle Rollins (Jim), Cori Warren (Chad), and Penni Harris (David); his uncle, Sean Jeralds (Linda); and his aunt, Sandy Boller (Warren).
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral at noon at Village Baptist Church, 9850 N. 400 W, Lake Village, IN 46349. Pastor Fred Zaugg officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lake Village Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Tracy D. Patterson, 58, of Morocco, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on Monday evening, May 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Scottsboro, Alabama on May 31, 1965, the son of Harvey and Mazette (McCutchen) Patterson.
He was a 1983 graduate of Lake Central High School and went on to study auto mechanics at a local trade school. He was a longtime machinist at Talbert Manufacturing in Rensselaer. Tracy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, building things, and working on his John Deere tractor.
On September 18, 2004 he married Felicia (Hicks) Patterson, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Amanda Reynolds, Tanya Reynolds, and Douglas Patterson; two grandchildren, Destiny (Braden) Gary and Ashlyn Reynolds; his brother, Tim (Mary Ann) Patterson; his mother-in-law, Ruby Hicks; and his beloved dog, Brenna. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sara worked as a quality control manager for Shoup Manufacturing in Kankakee. She overcame a lot of challenges in her life. She was a very giving person and helped others however she could, including taking in animals in need. She loved to cook and enjoyed having parties for her family and friends. She also enjoyed being outdoors, butterflies, her fairy garden, Adam Sandler movies, and growing her book collection. She was a devoted mother to her kids.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Watt of Morocco; daughters Ceara Tiffany (Michael Torres) of Seminole, Florida and Sarah Tiffany of Morocco; her mother, Eva Tutewiler of Morocco; one brother, Baron Tutewiler of Sheldon, Illinois; three sisters: Heather O’Conner of Momence, Illinois, Angela Cohn (Steve) of Sheldon, Illinois, and Valerie Hess (Ryan) of Bradley, Illinois; and her honorary daughter, Tabitha Callahan of Seminole, Florida, who was like a daughter to her. Also surviving are her fur “grandkids”, Como and Grey.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Lee Tutewiler.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 6, 1959, the daughter of Russell and Rosemary (O’Malley) Brown. She was a graduate of Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois.
On June 14, 1980, in Palos Park, Illinois, she married the love of her life Jeffery Truckenbrodt, at the Wayside Chapel in Palos Park. Together they raised three children: Nicole, Milissa and Gregory. Marianne cherished her family deeply and found joy in spending time with them. She has a passion for cooking, tending to her garden, and exploring the open road on her motorcycle.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Jeffery Truckenbrodt; three children: Nicole (Gary) Daniel, Milissa (Edward) Scully, and Gregory Truckenbrodt; her adoring grandchildren: Shaun Daniel, Jossalyn Macias, Gavin Daniel, and Ayden Bardachowski; and eagerly anticipated great-grandson, Cade Daniel, due to arrive in May, 2024. She is also survived by one sister, Michelle (Michael) Kelly; three brothers: Scott (Kathy) Brown, Craig Brown, and Terry Brown; one brother-in-law, Brett Truckenbrodt; beloved daughter-in-law to Dolph Truckenbrodt and Candie Truckenbrodt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Rosemary Brown; one brother, Mark Brown; and one brother-in-law, Gregory Truckenbrodt.

She was a devout Mother of six children, Jennifer (Doug) Jaeger of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rachel (Chris) Hilton of Venice, Florida, Andrew Gernon of Donovan, Illinois, Michael Gernon of Danforth, Illinois, Paul Gernon of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Marc Gernon of Kankakee, Illinois, and a loving Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Susan is preceded in death by her father Donald Burton.
Susan enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, home decorating, and a beautiful drive in her convertible.
She will be celebrated in a private memorial with loved ones.

Obituary Preview: Edmere Bertha Falk, 87, of Morocco, Indiana passed away at her home early Friday morning, April 5, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Lake Village, Indiana on November 30, 1936, the daughter of Leroy and Edmere (Garvais) Smart.
On July 25, 1954, she married her husband of 59 years, Donald J. Falk. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2013.
Edmere worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years, retiring from Wilson Brothers Grain Elevator. She was a member of the United Church of Morocco. An avid quilter, she taught quilting lessons to many ladies around the Morocco community. She also had a green thumb when it came to growing beautiful flowers and tending to her garden. Edmere and Donald loved wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama where they made many friends.
She is survived by her two children: Mike Falk (Sandy) and Debbie (Falk) Selby (Thomas Griffin); one brother, David Smart (Debbie); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Falk; parents, Leroy and Edmere Smart; brother Richard Smart; sister Sandy Sypult; and infant brother Lawson Smart.

On June 21, 1944 she married Floyd Henry Hall. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1994. Jeanette was a member of the Morocco American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by one daughter, Gladys Hall of Morocco, IN; one daughter-in-law, Gerri Dawson of Camdenton, MO; one brother, Jimmy Starnes of Palm Bay, FL; and seven grandchildren: Kenny (Linda) Gordon, Kevin (Sandy) Hall, and Kyle Hall, all of Camdenton, MO, Kellie (Tim) Lannon of Saunemin, IL, Susie Hall of Hudson, FL, Billy (Shari) Hall of Brownsburg, IN, and Brandon Hall of Deltona, FL. Eleven great-grandchildren and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sons: Kenny, Chuck and Donnie.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral at 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Goodland Cemetery.

Frederik T. Kroesen - July 16, 1938 - November 29, 2023

Obituary Preview: Frederik T. “Fritz” Kroesen, 85, of Morocco, IN passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in The Hague, Netherlands on July 16, 1938, the son of Frederik Kroesen, Sr. and Jannetje (Boshuisen) Kroesen.
Fritz immigrated to the United States in 1957, settling in the St. Louis, MO area. He married Rose Wisnewski on Feb. 20, 1960 in Belleville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1990.
He worked as a food & beverage manager at various hotels in Chicago, IL. There he met Anna Putigna, whom he married on Aug. 24, 1996.
Fritz loved playing soccer and started playing as a boy in The Netherlands. He continued playing in America, and started the Belle-Claire Soccer League in Belleville, IL. He also enjoyed traveling. He and Anna owned an RV for a few years and enjoyed camping. They also went on a cruise every year for 20 years. Fritz had a good, soft heart, and he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Kroesen; three children: Anna Rose (Frank) Scheid, Christopher (Christina) Kroesen and Alyssa Putigna; three grandchildren: Andrew Scheid, Katherine Scheid and Willow Uelman; seven siblings: Jane (Ed) Windsor, Anna (David) Calvert, Theo Kroesen, Benno (Cherie) Kroesen, Aaltje (David) Close, Leendert (Betty) Kroesen and Violette Nast; and one sister-in-law, Irene Kroesen. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederik and Jannetje Kroesen; his first wife, Rose Kroesen; two brothers, Jan Kroesen and George Kroesen; one sister, Hennie Bryant; and one brother-in-law, Gary Nast.

Marcheta Ann Camblin - April 19, 1924 - July 26, 2023

Obituary Preview: Marcheta Ann Camblin, age 99, of Morocco passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at her home. Marcheta, known to her family and friends as “Skeet” was born April 19, 1924, in Tiltonville, Ohio to Jim Hamilton and Creta (Owens) Hamilton. At an early age her family moved to Lake County Indiana because of her dad’s job. They later moved to Newton County, Indiana when she was in Jr. High School and graduated from Morocco High School.
On May 21, 1943 Skeet married James Edward Camblin just a few days before Ed shipped out to Europe to fight in World War II. Marcheta worked at Kingsbury Munitions plant in her early years after her marriage to Ed. She also worked at Permonite Corporation for 16 years, waitressed at the Willow Inn in Enos and was an assistant librarian in Morocco. She attended the Morocco Christian Church most of her life and was a member of the Lazy L. Dude Ranch where she loved to square dance.
Skeet was creative and could make anything with a sewing machine. She loved her flower garden, was an avid reader, and enjoyed dancing. After Ed retired from the Morocco Post Office as a mail carrier, she and Ed spent winters in Florida where they both enjoyed fishing. Everyone that knew Skeet thought of her as a sweet person.
Marcheta is survived by her husband Ed, daughter Marsha (husband Jerry) Vaughn, one grandson Eric Warrick, one granddaughter Heather (Tom) Doyle. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Jordan (Brook) Doyle, Kayla Doyle and one great-great granddaughter Blaire. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 1st, at 12 noon (CST) at the Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services for Marcheta will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 1:00 p.m. (CST) at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Morros officiating. Burial will follow after service at Russell Chapel Cemetery in Newton County. Memorials may be made to Morocco Community Library and Alzheimer’s Association. Hank was a 1959 graduate of Illiana Christian in Lansing IL, and then served in the National Guard. He was a salesman for RC Cola, Dairy Rich Foods, Kelly Foods and Keebler Cookies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Gertrude (Scott) Auwerda; siblings: Donald Auwerda and Gloria (Dennis) DeLeeuw; and nephew Danny Auwerda.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy (Herrmann) Auwerda; son Aaron Auwerda (Susannah Rawlins); grandchildren: Pandora Potter, Seth and Gabrielle Alonzo, Amelia Auwerda; and great-grandson Lucien Potter. Also surviving are sisters: Grace Auwerda of Wheatfield, IN, Karen (Greg) Parker of Wheatfield, Trudy (Wayne) Boss of Wheatfield, Kathy (Harry) Ference of DeMotte, Jackie (Bill) Needles of Wheatfield, Lori Auwerda of Highland; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Hank was a member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church. He was previously a member of DeMotte First Reformed Church for 30 years, and Grace Fellowship for 4 years.

Obituary Preview: Carole Kessler, 83, of Morocco, Indiana, departed this world to enter her heavenly home on Friday evening, March 31, 2023. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family and cherished friends.
Carole was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on June 26, 1939. The daughter of Earl and Alice (Bond) Hanrahan, Carole was an outgoing, fun-loving child who made friends quickly and easily. She was a cheerleader and baton twirler, eventually becoming head majorette. Her peers voted her prom queen and yearbook queen, and she served as the Girl’s Athletic Association President. Carole graduated from Liberty Township High School in Porter County, Indiana in 1957.
Carole met her future husband Ron Dillingham in kindergarten. After high school, they married and had two children, Mark and Marilyn. Carole, Ron, and their family resided in Valparaiso, Indiana until Ron’s death in 1966.
Carole found love again with John D. Kessler of Morocco. They married in 1968 and made their home on John’s ancestral family farm. They had one son, David. Carole spent her days taking care of her family and her home and serving her church and her community. She was the chairman of the Valparaiso Christian Women’s Club and served as a Stephen Minister at Morocco First United Methodist Church. In her free time, Carole was an expert quilter and a talented seamstress who created many incredible quilts and other handmade items that will be treasured by her family for generations to come. One of Carole’s favorite activities was to watch her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they played a variety of sports. Occasionally, John could even convince her to attend a college football or basketball game to support her Purdue Boilermakers.
Carole is survived by her husband, John D. Kessler; three children: Mark (April) Dillingham, Marilyn (Michael) Gumz, and David (Lisa) Kessler; eight grandchildren: Milissa (Eric) Beale, Crystal (Scott) Brown, Sarah Gumz, Patrick (Kami) Gumz, Amy (Jordan) Clark, Alyce Kessler, Jacob Kessler, and Tyler Kessler; nine great-grandchildren: Ian Beale, Oliver Beale, Mila Beale, Addison Brown, Jonas Brown, Joseph Gumz, Betsy Gumz, Zoe Gumz, and Owen Clark; one sister, Christine (Larry) Antes; and many other beloved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Ron; one sister, Mary Ann Criswell; and one brother, Robert (Bonnie) Hanrahan. Her caring personality, sparkling smile, and infectious laugh will be dearly missed.

On November 22, 1990, in Schererville, he married Brenda Porter.
Bobby was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a barber and had his own shop in Schererville for 25 years. He was also a construction supervisor for the State of Indiana. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bobby had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed working on remodeling projects, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his dogs, especially Max.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Grisham of Morocco; six children: Jeff (Dorothy) Grisham, Richard (Karie) Grisham, Michael Grisham, Doug Anderson, Erik (Diane) Anderson, and Sean (Christie) Anderson; 14 grandchildren: Samantha Grisham, Lauren (James) Grisham, Jacob Grisham, Jessica Anderson, Brendan Anderson, Nick Anderson, TJ (Sarah) Anderson, Jesse (Brittany) Anderson, Keagan Anderson, Konnor Anderson, Kelsea Anderson, Adam Decker, Elizabeth Decker, and William Decker; and seven great-grandchildren: Reagan Galinski, Mason Galinski, Paisley Grisham, Levi Orr, Karoline Anderson, Jesse Anderson, and Eleanor Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Curtis.

On March 22, 1958 she married Dennis David. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2022.
Royce was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting and playing games. She loved her family dearly, and she had a strong faith and loved the Lord.
She is survived by her five children: Nina Neeley, Denver (Zorrinea) David, Laurie Cripe, Dale (Jennifer) David and Georgia (Joe) Kenney; two sisters, Rhea Lippincott and Rosezelle (Mitch) Myers; and one brother, Darryl “Sandy” Luchene. Twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Luke Luchene; and one sister, Karen Berry.

Marshall of Arkansas and Mary (Peevey) Printy of Morocco. She was educated in the public school system of Wynne, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Wynne High School in 1964. After high school she attended beauty school.
Her marriage was to the late Mark J. Davidson on February 26, 1967. She is survived by their two children, John (Becky) Davidson of Donovan, Illinois and Shelly Knight of Morocco, Indiana. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Kabrina, Krystal, Karley, Kamerin, Isaac and Leeanna; and three great-grandchildren: Gavin, Gideon and Jeptha. Additional survivors included Myra’s siblings: Jim (Nancy) Marshall of Missouri, Mike Marshall of Texas, and Kay Moss (Tom) Crumpler of Illinois; her aunt, Billie Sue Bingham of Florida; and a score of nieces.
Myra was a member of Projects Unlimited in Morocco and the United Church of Morocco. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star. She was in the Morocco bowling league for years.
She loved spending time with her friends and family and all her grandchildren. Myra enjoyed gardening and canning, crafting, walking, and going to yard sales.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life service at the United Church of Morocco on January 28, 2023, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Pastor Patrick Gutwein will be officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at 12 p.m. Flowers and donations may be sent to the United Church of Morocco, 104 College Ave., Morocco, IN 47963.

Nancy was the general manager of the Rensselaer Holiday Inn Express, where she had worked for the past 23 years. She was very dedicated and took great pride in her job. She was also very family-oriented. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and she loved to shop.
She is survived by her four children: Jen Thompson, Jessica Johnson (Dennis), David Robinson (Steph) and Katie Robinson (Kyle); 13 grandchildren: Paige, Brynn, Tori, Tavis, Trey, Kellen, Harper, Jaxx, Skylar, Kenzie, Brayden, Kason and Beckham; brother John (Annie); sister Sue (Bill); her former husband and father of her children, Dean Robinson; and her best friend, Terry Sellers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Obituary Preview: Clifford Eugene “Gene” James, a lifelong resident of Morocco, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the age of 88. Gene was born in Morocco on August 14, 1934, to Clifford Raymond James and Verna Edna (Collins) James.
He was a graduate of Morocco High School and served for 7 ½ years in the Indiana National Guard. Gene was the owner-operator of James Grocery & Sporting Goods Store on State Road 114 in Morocco for nearly 40 years, a business started by his parents. He retired in December, 1999.
Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota over the years. In the winter months, he liked to go ice fishing at Willow Slough and work on his woodworking projects.
He was an old car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring and driving antique cars. He was a member of the Northwest Indiana Model Ters, and enjoyed monthly tours and meeting new friends and fellow car enthusiasts. He was especially proud of a 1906 Model N that he restored, which won Best of Show everywhere he took it.
Gene was a diehard Chicago Bears fan and he loved his canine companions over the years, his Yorkshire Terriers. First Gidget, and now Cricket.
On November 15, 1980 he married his wife of 41 years, Patricia (Wetli) James, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Todd (Deana) James and Cary (Gayle) James; six grandchildren: Brittney, Brett, Robby, Ethan, Parker and Carly; six great-grandchildren, and one great-grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco with Pastor Patrick Gutwein officiating. Chuck was a flooring installer for Carpetland and DeMotte Carpet for many years until his retirement. He was a big Chicago Bears fan and he loved to watch Jeopardy. He enjoyed fishing, collecting antique mechanical clocks, woodworking projects, stained glass and tinkering in his shop. He always had a project to work on.
He is survived by his life partner and soulmate, Linda Meyer; his loving daughter, Laura Pear; one brother, Rick (Gina) Pear; and two sisters, Sandy Boettger and Cindy (Larry) Strayer. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck and Linda shared many adventures together over the 38 years of love and togetherness. Chuck had a very dry sense of humor, and always had something witty to say. He loved his dogs and enjoyed taking Linda and Mic (their canine companion) for a Jeep ride to enjoy nature and the changing of the seasons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was one special guy!
Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local animal shelter.

After the death of his father, his mother moved the family to Morocco, where he graduated from high school, with the class of 1944. He was a United States Army veteran of WW II, following his discharge, he returned home to pursue a career in farming. Warren enjoyed attending Purdue Basketball games, drinking coffee with fellow farmers at the Pullman Café, bowling and playing Euchre. He loved to travel; a highlight of his travels was a trip to Sweden where he located his ancestral homestead. In his lifetime, he was married to Dorothy Triplett Hayes and Karen Martin Warne. For the last twenty years of his life, he spent an enjoyable and rewarding time with his companion, Judy Brown. Warren was a lifetime member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful choir member. He enjoyed singing in the Christmas Cantatas and was also well known for singing solos at several weddings & funerals along with singing the National Anthem at many events. He was a member of the Morocco American Legion, Post #146, and for many years, participated with other veterans, in the Honor Guard ceremonies at burials and Memorial Day services. He was also a member of the Morocco Masonic Lodge and the Forty and Eight. He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Bob Johnson & Shirley Johnson Forberg, his first and second wives, plus many close Carlson cousins. He is survived by one son, Warren “JR” (Marcia) Johnson; grandchildren Brian (Richelle) Johnson and Kari Johnson. He is also survived by one, very special, great grand-daughter, Amelia Grace Johnson and a great-grand pup, Wrenley, who he called Rover. Other survivors include step-children Ted (Marcia) Hayes, Kathleen Hershman, Mike (Sue) Warne, Susan (Paul) Olson, Kim Nevitt, and Mark (Missy) Warne and step-grandchildren, Shannon (Scott) Evans, David (Dawn) Gerts, Ryan Hayes, Katelyn, Rob, & Eric Warne, Riley & Wes Cook, Ben & Devon Olson and Bethany, Hayley, & Peyton Warne. Step-great grandchildren include Robbie (Andria) Whicker & Payton Evans, Kaia, Sophie, & Jack Gerts, and RJ Hayes along with one step-great-great granddaughter, Karalee Whicker.
