Mazie R. Seachrist - October 25, 1931 - May 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mazie R. Seachrist, of the Lutheran Community at Telford, formerly of Sellersville, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at her residence. She was 92.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harold E. Seachrist for 46 years until his death in 1996.
Born in Almont, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Annie (Schuck) Leister.
Mrs. Seachrist was a homemaker.
Currently a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, Mazie was formerly a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Sellersville.
An avid birdwatcher, Mazie especially delighted in spotting cardinals. For many years, she participated in a sewing club, enjoying time spent stitching and visiting with her friends. Her greatest joy, however, was in time spent with her family.
Mrs. Seachrist is survived by her two sons: Larry Seachrist and his companion, Chris Reichel, of Bethlehem, and Gregory Seachrist and his wife, Eleanor, of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren: Jason L. Seachrist and his wife, Marsha, of Telford, and Lisa A. Schwarzman and her husband, Michael, of Sellersville; two step-grandsons: William Ward and Joseph Ward; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Seachrist; and three step-great-grandchildren: Hayden Evans, Carlee Schwarzman, and Brayden Schwarzman.
In addition to her husband, Mazie was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie A. Geho, in 1994; three brothers: Rosell L. Leister, Paul R. Leister, and J. Clair Leister; three sisters: Myrtle M. Oberton, Geraldine F. Klinger, and Perma L. Hibbs; and her long-time companion, Walton F. Kolb, in 2022.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 23, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

He was the husband of the late Lori (Starr) Patterson for 27 years until her death in 2023.
Born in Leslie, Arkansas, he was the son of Gerald Patterson and the late Linda Reeves.
Greg was a graduate of Marshall High School, Marshall, AR. He attended the University of Arkansas and received his Bachelor’s degree from Temple University, Philadelphia.
Mr. Patterson had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a real estate specialist.
An avid reader, Greg was also active with local animal rescue organizations.
In addition to his father, Greg is survived by his brother, Jeff Patterson, and his wife, Amanda, of Marshall, AR; two nieces: Kelsey Boyd and her husband, Logan, of Marshall, AR and Carlie Starr, of Pennsylvania; two nephews: Ryan Patterson, of Marshall, AR and Jared Starr, of Hazelton, PA; and his stepmother, Anita Patterson, of Marshall, AR.
Services will be scheduled at a later date in Arkansas.

Phyllis Lynn Hayes - June 11, 1956 - May 07, 2024

Obituary Preview: Phyllis Lynn Hayes, of Coopersburg, formerly of Sellersville, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, after a valiant years-long battle with cancer. She was 67.
She was the beloved wife of William C. Hayes, Jr. They would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in August.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Roland, Jr. and Shirley (Hockman) Moyer. Phyllis was a 1974 graduate of Pennridge High School. She would later earn degrees from Kutztown University and Lehigh University.
A beloved educator, employed for decades with the Pennridge School District as an elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist, Phyllis helped to shape the lives of hundreds and hundreds of children, whether through reading, writing, or swimming. It was a role she loved as she watched each child’s development and growth.
Always a health enthusiast, avid bicyclist, and swimmer, Phyllis also loved to travel extensively with her husband and groups of friends. A loving, kind-hearted woman, Phyllis’ warm smile, engaging laugh, determined strength, and unflagging spirit endeared her to all.
The family would like to thank, especially, all the doctors and nurses from Penn Medicine. Phyllis wished to remember and thank her “Like Sisters:” Peggi, Kim, Bev, Gwen, Anne, Vickie, and Laura for their unflinching support and love and, most particularly, her husband and children for their strength, guidance, and love.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her children: Matthew C. Hayes and his wife, Sarah, of Tampa, FL, Margaret “Maggie” Allyson Hayes and her wife, MaryCate Gordon, of Philadelphia, and Timothy P. Hayes and his wife, Dana, of Kona, Hawaii; four grandchildren: Henry, Leo, Theo, and Camden, and “one on the way;” and her three brothers and their families: Roland III, Andrew, and Michael Moyer.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Roy E. Kopp - June 25, 1931 - May 02, 2024

Obituary Preview: Roy E. Kopp, formerly of Hilltown, passed away May 2, 2024, at his residence at the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was 92.
He was the beloved husband of the late Imogene M. “Dolly” (Fosbenner) Kopp for 59 years until her death in 2011.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late William A., Jr. and Flora A. (Kramer) Kopp. Roy was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Class of 1949.
Mr. Kopp was a U. S. Army National Guard veteran, having served in Germany from 1950-1952 during the Korean War.
Roy had been employed as a carpenter with Local 1562 for 42 years, working on the construction of several local schools, the ROTC building at the University of Pennsylvania, former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo’s home, and the Merck and Limerick power plants. He also built the family residence on Broad Street, Hilltown.
After his retirement, he worked part-time as a realtor for Messa Real Estate, Sellersville, at Landis Supermarket, Perkasie, and as a school bus driver for the Pennridge School District.
Mr. Kopp was a long-time member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Almont, where he had served on Church Council.
Roy had served as treasurer of Carpenter’s Union Local 1562 for many years. He was also active with the Perkasie Historical Society and the Hilltown Civic Association. Elected as a Democratic Party Committee man, he represented Hilltown and Hilltown Township for many years through the 1970s and 1980s. He also volunteered at Grand View Hospital for more than a decade.
Mr. Kopp was a long-time member of the Hartzell-Crouthamel American Legion Post #280, Perkasie, serving with their honor guard detail and marching in the annual Memorial Day Parade.
Roy’s greatest volunteer efforts centered on his involvement with the Pennridge Little League, where he had served as president and vice-president and also as an umpire for more than 25 years. As a player agent for more than 15 years, he oversaw post-season action in a region covering Pennridge, Deep Run, Quakertown, Hellertown, Southern Lehigh, and South Bethlehem. For his efforts, Roy earned the first Pennridge Little League Award. Mr. Kopp also served on the Board of Directors and on the Banquet Committee for the Pennridge-Quakertown Sports Hall of Fame.
For his many civic-minded activities, Mr. Kopp was recognized as the 1992 Pennridge Citizen of the Year.
Mr. Kopp is survived by his daughter, Linda Bishop, of Sellersville; two grandchildren: Amanda N. Maraugha and her husband, Donald, of West Mifflin, PA and Andrew T. Bishop and his wife, Jennifer, of Easton, MD; four great-grandchildren: Kylee Mae, Colton James, Devin Roy, and Juliette Imogene; his companion, Marlyn Fitz; and a sister-in-law, Beverly D. Hager, and her husband, Marvin, of Perkasie.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Stewart Kopp, Dorothy Distel, Evelyn Schaeffer, Margaret Knappenberger, Raymond Kopp, Ralph Kopp, and Shirley Benner.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, in the Chapel at the Lutheran Community at Telford, 12 Lutheran Home Drive, Telford, PA 18969.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, in Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church,12 733 Ridge Road, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment with military honors will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.

Shirley A. Sprole - July 23, 1928 - April 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: Shirley A. Sprole, of Warminster, PA, formerly a long-time resident of Perkasie, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024. She was 95.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Donald Q. Sprole for nearly 71 years until his death in 2019.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Helen (Warris) Weiss. Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Sell-Perk High School. She would later earn her B.S. Ed from Bucknell University and her M.Ed. from Kutztown University.
A beloved teacher, Mrs. Sprole took great delight in educating her students so that they might achieve their ultimate growth and potential. Employed for 34 years by the Pennridge School District, Mrs. Sprole taught the Opportunity (Special Education), 5th grade classes, and later 3rd grade. In 1966, she started the Title I Reading Program with Dr. Patricia Guth and continued as a Reading Specialist until her retirement in 1989.
As a long-time member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, Shirley was active with the Women’s Quilting group. A vitally dynamic influence in the Upper Bucks Lioness Club for more than 30 years, and a past president, Shirley was also a member of the Perkasie Historical Society.
An avid reader, Shirley also enjoyed gardening and knitting. With her husband she had enjoyed traveling to locations throughout the United States and abroad. Most importantly, Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. In later years, when no longer able to travel and visit, she continued to maintain these lifelong close ties through faithful correspondence.
Mrs. Sprole is survived by her two daughters: Renee Sprole, and her husband, Stephen Poot, and Holly Ketterer, and her husband, Scott; three grandchildren: Jessica Lynn Poot, Janelle Marie Bombard and her spouse, Taylor Bombard, and Rachel Lynn Ketterer; and a great-grandson, Orion Carter Bombard.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, in St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, 110 North 6th Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10:45 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene C. Mollyn for 60 years until his death in 2010.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Monica (Gaidamavic) Skridul. Frances was a graduate of Bushwick High School, Brooklyn, NY.
Employed by the Fifth Avenue Bank, in New York City, Frances was the bank’s first female bank teller. Her most noteworthy regular customer was First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The bank’s president was Edward Streeter, businessman and author of several popular novels, including Father of the Bride, later made into a Hollywood movie classic.
An avid gardener, Mrs. Mollyn had also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. With her husband, she had traveled extensively, especially to Puerto Rico and throughout Europe.
Mrs. Mollyn is survived by her two children: Lori J. Healy and her husband, William, of Ottsville, and George E. Mollyn, of Allentown; three grandchildren: Lisa Coia, Erin Lodise, and Kacie Cheng; four great-grandchildren: C. J. Coia, Arya Coia, Adam Lodise, and Amanda Cheng; and Dot White, a good neighbor and close friend.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Skridul.
Her Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 2, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

Roy L. Roth - September 18, 1933 - April 21, 2024

He was the beloved husband of Helen E. (Czernes) Roth. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in June.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Caroline (Kemmerer) Roth. Roy was a 1951 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Roth served stateside during the Korean War.
Roy was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Sellersville, where he had served for many years as a sexton.
Mr. Roth had been employed for decades as a printer of gauges and meters at the former Emico Company, Perkasie. Working from his residence, Roy had also crafted original screen-printed design t-shirts for local companies and sports teams.
A legendary pitcher for the locally-renowned semi-professional Redbirds baseball team during the 1950s, Roy became an equally popular pitcher for the Pennridge Church Softball League in later years, earning a reputation as a powerhouse winner. He also played for the North Penn Gun Club in the Industrial Fast Pitch Softball League for many years.
Always physically active, Roy had enjoyed snowmobiling and maintaining the grounds at his home. He and Helen had also loved watching the birds and other wildlife that were drawn to their creek-side residence. In later years, Roy and Helen especially enjoyed frequent bus trips and cruises with friends. In addition to his wife, Mr. Roth is survived by his two children: Thomas L. Roth and his wife, Debra L., of Quakertown, and Jeanine L. Stear, of Sellersville; five grandchildren: Roy A. Roth, of Lansdale, Corrie R. Affonso, of San Diego, CA, Jordan Stear and his wife, Rachel, of Easton, Ellie Park and her husband, Jason, of Telford, and Ian Stear and his wife, Rachel, of Boyertown; four great-grandchildren; and his loving feline companion, “Moe.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Norbert “Nonnie” W. Breslin for 58 years until his death in 2008.
Born in Pottsville, Jean was the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha (Kramer) Burdess. Jean was a graduate of Pottsville High School.
Mrs. Breslin had been employed for many years as a quality control inspector for the Greene Tweed Company, Harleysville.
During their 40-year residence in Sellersville, Jean had been a member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. After moving to Blandon some years ago, Jean had become a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kutztown.
A voracious reader, borrowing books from the library by the bagful, Jean was also a gifted seamstress. She enjoyed classical music, delighting in the performances of Andrea Bocelli, the Irish Tenors, and various operatic productions. Mrs. Breslin most loved spending time with her grandsons, son-in-law, and daughter, especially if it involved shopping and going out to eat.
Mrs. Breslin is survived by her daughter, Jessica M. Bonner, and her husband, Michael, of Douglassville; two grandchildren: Patrick N. Bonner and Aidan M. Bonner; two sisters: Rosalie Zechman, of Phoenix, AZ and Margaret Govern, of Lenhartsville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick J. Breslin, a casualty of the Vietnam War.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.

She was the wife of Bernard W. “Butch” Wahalla.
Born in Sellersville, Cyndy was the daughter of the late Frank and Patricia (Kee) Fox. Cyndy had attended Souderton High School.
Cyndy had been employed in a variety of positions over the years, including 15 years as an assembler with an electronics company, six years as a line leader with Janssen Pharmaceutical, Inc., and seven years as a packaging line supervisor with Digestive Care, Inc., of Bethlehem.
An avid bird watcher, who delighted in dawn bright birding study as she listened and watched the birds, Cyndy also had an extensive collection of bird figurines in her home. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and riding motorcycles. As a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, she never missed watching a game. She most loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wahalla is survived by her two daughters, Meghan and Brieanne; her son, Blaze; several grandchildren; and three sisters: Patti, Bonnie, and Kelle.
In addition to her parents, Cyndy was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of Joan D. (Wimmer) Freed, of Tylersport, and the late Calvin H. Freed. Kevin was a graduate of Souderton High School.
Kevin was a machinist, who had been employed at various local machine shops over the years. Most recently, he had worked in the lawn care and landscaping field.
A former member of the Tylersport Volunteer Fire Company, Kevin was also active with Great Swamp Fish and Game, of Quakertown.
An avid outdoorsman, Kevin especially loved hunting and fishing. As a younger man, he had also enjoyed snowmobiling and weekend getaways at his cabin at Promised Land State Park, Greentown.
In addition to his mother, Kevin is survived by his sister, Sandy Davis, of Arizona; a niece, Crystal Davis, of Center Valley; and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Christopher Cupchak.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 11:00 AM in Ridge Valley United Church of Christ, 905 Allentown Road, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service.
Interment will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.

She was the beloved wife of the late Willard VanOmmeren for 56 years until his death on July 22, 2007.
Born on October 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Marion S. (Worthington) Boorse. Marge was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School and Rider College, Trenton, NJ, where she earned a secretarial degree.
Margery was primarily a wife, mother, and homemaker. She had also assisted with secretarial office work for her husband’s construction business, Branch Valley Associates, Inc.
Mrs. VanOmmeren was a long-time active member of Immanuel Leidy’s Church, Souderton, where she was a member of the choir and volunteered with the Kitchen Committee.
For many years, Marge had also been a dedicated volunteer at Grand View Hospital and with Grand View Hospice.
She loved her family, Bible reading, praying, traveling, and dogs.
Mrs. VanOmmeren is survived by her two sons: Robert and his wife, Kristene, of Highlandville, Missouri; James and his wife, Catharine, of Fogelsville; and five grandchildren: Jonathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Gregory, and Sharon. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel.
Her memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, in Immanuel Leidy’s Church, 273 West Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.
Interment will be private.

He was the beloved husband of the late Donna J. (Feuchtmayer) Holly for 19 years until her death in 1989.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Perna O. (Gerhart) Holly.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Pennridge High School. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree at Bloomsburg State College (now Bloomsburg University) and his Master of Education degree from Lehigh University.
Mr. Holly had been employed for many years as a German teacher at Pennridge High School, where he had also coached the boys’ varsity tennis team for several years. He was later employed in education administration by the Methacton School District, from which he retired in 2004 as the Director of Technology.
An animal lover, Bob diligently advocated for local animal rescue efforts. He also loved the beach, enjoying frequent vacations in Ocean City, NJ and Brigantine, NJ, as well as Ft. Myers, FL. As an admitted tech geek, Bob always had to have the newest gadgets. He also especially enjoyed nature walks at Peace Valley and Nockamixon parks. Bob enjoyed dining out and could be frequently found at many local eateries. Most especially, Bob delighted in time spent with his family.
Mr. Holly is survived by his two children: Blake T. Holly and his partner, Jakki Maria, of Macungie; Nicole S. Whalen and her husband, Jay, of Harleysville; and six grandchildren: Avery Holly, Ashton Bender, Katarina Whalen, Gabriella Goudsward, Garrett Whalen, and Miles Whalen. He is also survived by his two siblings: F. Joseph Rausch and his wife, Cary, and Perna Patricia Hipp and her husband, Joseph; and three brothers-in-law: Donald Swartley, Nicholas Feuchtmayer, Jr., and Lawrence Weaver, Jr.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Abby Jean Brown and M. Susan Swartley; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Weaver.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick E. Miller for 21 years until his death in 1999.
Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida (Beidler) Benfield. Mary graduated from Sell-Perk High School and would later graduate from the Grand View Hospital School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Mrs. Miller had been employed for many years in the office of Dr. Richard Landau at Bux-Mont Urology, Sellersville.
She was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Active with the Lenape Chapter 339 Order of the Eastern Star, Mary also volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sellersville Fire Department.
A voracious reader, often completing a book every two days, Mary was also an avid gardener, who loved to work in her flowerbeds. As a talented needlewoman, she loved to sew, often making many of her own clothes, and knitting baby caps and blankets for Grand View Hospital.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Harry Renner; a sister, Martha Devine; five nieces; five nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Renner, Jr.; a brother, Daniel Benfield; and a sister, Margaret Nelligan.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 13, in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Connie S. Moyer, a long-time resident of Sellersville, formerly of Perkasie, passed away at her residence on Sunday, December 24, 2023, after a valiant years-long battle with cancer. She was 69.
Born in Sellersville and raised in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Marian (Charles) Strouse. Connie was a 1971 graduate of Pennridge High School.
Employed after her graduation at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, Connie would later work as a bookkeeper in the Sellersville Borough office, retiring in 2017 after several decades of loyal service to the community.
Connie was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, where she had volunteered with the Altar Guild and played in the Bell Choir.
Always civic-minded, Connie had volunteered with the Pennridge FISH Food Pantry, the Pennridge Community Center, and the Nase-Kraft Post 255 American Legion Auxiliary, Sellersville. For several years, she had also served as secretary to the Sellersville Church and Cemetery Corporation.
Connie loved listening to music, dancing, and Zumba, as well as playing Christmas carols on her organ and spinet piano. Never one to sit still, she was often busy tackling small home improvement projects for herself and others, utilizing her unquestioned skills with a paintbrush and mitre box. A skilled seamstress, she enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her children and granddaughters. And her extraordinary apple pies had no equal.
A determined, hard-working woman of forthright opinions and independent spirit, Connie had recently joined the battle to protest for reproductive rights. Her genuine, kind nature was evidenced by her selfless efforts in reaching out with frequent phone calls and visits to shut-in members of her church and community.
Most importantly, her greatest joy was being a devoted Grammy to her two granddaughters, whom she loved to take to the pool, out for a game of pitch and catch, or shopping for new shoes.
Connie is survived by her children: Philip, of Sellersville, and Rhonda, of Philadelphia; two granddaughters: Marian and Juliette Wagner, both of Philadelphia; her partner, Craig Wilhelm, of Sellersville; and her sister, Linda Godshall, of Perkasie.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 5, in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment in Kellers Church Union Cemetery, Perkasie will follow the service.

Obituary Preview: Alexandra “Elsie” P. Griesel, of The Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was 89.
She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard “Bernie” P. Griesel for 53 years until his death in 2012.
Raised in the Fairmont neighborhood of Philadelphia, Elsie was the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Odessa) Terpeluk. She was a 1952 graduate of Dobbins High School, Philadelphia.
Elsie was a proud homemaker and the mother of eight, living happily in Huntingdon Valley. She also delighted in being an extended mom to many neighbors, friends, and family members.
Active with the local swim club, The Valley Club, Elsie was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a member and past president of the Huntingdon Valley Women’s Club.
She loved Long Beach Island and many enjoyable summer vacations in Surf City.
In 1992, Elsie and Bernie retired to a 10-acre gentleman’s farm in Sellersville, later moving into the Community at Rockhill in 2010. They were members of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville.
Activities with the Rockhill “family” were always special, whether enjoying bus trips and other excursions or celebrating birthdays with the Rockhill Hallway Celebrations. Elsie never missed sending birthday or celebratory greetings to family and friends.
The most memorable Rockhill events were using the Rockhill Pocono House for a large Griesel family getaway and picnics in the Community Pavilion.
Mrs. Griesel is survived by her eight children: Thomas M. Griesel and his wife, Buffy, of Colorado, Alexandra McLaughlin and her husband, John, of North Carolina, Paula Nice and her husband, Scott, of Willow Grove, Lisa V. Rehborn and her husband, Randy, of Collegeville, Bernard P. Griesel and his wife, Kimberly, of Churchville, Audrey M. Byrnes, and her husband, Kevin, of Lambertville, NJ, Michael E. Griesel and his wife, Heather, of Albuquerque, NM, and Kristina C. Mulville, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Olga Ray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 -10:00 a.m.

Obituary Preview: Carolyn “Lynne” A. von Mechow, beloved wife of Theodore “Ted” E. von Mechow, Jr., entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at her residence at The Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township. She was 85.
Lynne was born at home on North Main Street, Sellersville to Charles P. and M. Adelaide (Groves) Hufnagle.
At the age of 16, she survived polio. A graduate of Lansdale Catholic (Little Flower) High School, Class of ’56 and Fitzgerald Mercy School of Nursing ’59, Lynne was later a Summa Cum Laude graduate of LaSalle University, earning her BSN, in 1991.
Lynne started her nursing career at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, where she was a Clinical Charge Nurse/Staff Nurse for nine years, Head Nurse of ICCU from 1976-1980, and then Medical-Surgical Clinical Educator from 1980 until her retirement in 2000.
Lynne was a Volunteer Facilitator of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Bucks County Family Services, supporting patients with AIDS/HIV, their families, and significant others. Following the ’72 Hurricane Agnes flood, Lynne organized relief and support for the residents of Swoyersville, PA.
A lifelong active member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville, Lynne was honored with the 2007 Stewardship Award for her service to the parish. She completed her three-year Archdiocesan Church Ministry course and served on the Archdiocese Committee for Charismatic Renewal and as a member of the Apostolate of Fatima House.
Lynne loved nature, gardening, bird watching, camping, singing, reading, scrapbooking, and, most especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her beloved husband, Lynne is survived by her children: Tod von Mechow (Sue), Carrie von Mechow, Mary Beth Liddle (Scott), Meg Bardar (Dennis), Peter von Mechow (Diane), Amy Porter (Matt), and Jerome von Mechow; her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Mroz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Alice Hufnagle, and her brother-in-law, Ted Mroz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held Monday evening, November 27, from 6 -7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, November 28, from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.

He was the beloved husband of Sylvia Lee (Yoder) Snedaker for 59 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Nelson, Jr. and Doris (Underkoffler) Snedeker. He was a 1960 graduate of Souderton High School.
Following his graduation, Mr. Snedaker joined the U. S. Navy.
Upon his discharge, Tom began training and working in the computer industry. He had been employed by Unisys in Blue Bell for many years, retiring in 2006. As a young man, he had also worked as a policeman for the Souderton Police Department.
Always an avid sportsman, Tom most enjoyed bowling. Over the years, he had coached community youth sports, including swimming, baseball, soccer, and softball teams. He was also a fan of the professional Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. Trips to the family homes at the shore and the mountains were other favorite pastimes.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Snedaker is survived by his three children: Bonnie Cossman, Derrick Snedaker, and Chad Snedaker (wife Erin); eight grandchildren: Zachary, Acacia, Juliann, Jonathan, Luke, Michael, Tia, and Danielle: a sister, JoAnn Kyttle; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Hufnagle) Wise.
Born in Lansdale, he was the son of the late Emory and Eleanor (Laverick) Wise. Ron was a graduate of Pennridge High School.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Wise served in Vietnam, earning multiple medals.
Ron had been employed for many years as a regional manager for the PA Liquor Control Board. He had also worked as a mechanic at McElhare’s Service Center, Sellersville and served as a custodian and transport driver for the Lutheran Community at Telford.
Ron was a life-long member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
A lifetime member of the Sellersville Fire Department, Ron was also a member of the Forrest Lodge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #245 and the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post 255, both of Sellersville.
Always a beach lover, especially enjoying family times at Ocean City, MD, Ron also liked to travel. His daughter remembers him as a pioneer in the field of “Bad Dad” jokes.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wise is survived by his two daughters: Kelly Moore and her husband, Earl and Holly Wise; four step-children: Jennifer Gorman and her husband, Bill, Chris Trumbore and his wife, Janet, Andrew Trumbore and his wife, Rose, and Allyson Trumbore and her husband, Lenny Heck; four grandchildren: Vanessa, Grayson, Marissa, and Andrea; three step-grandchildren: Marilyn, William, and Alex; and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three siblings: Kathy Groves and her husband, Daryl, Steve Wise and his wife, Linda, and Christine Brewer and her husband, Chip; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, David Wise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Saturday, November 25, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice “Reese” H. Carr for 55 years until his death in 2007.
Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Betty Ann was the daughter of the late Davis and Sara (McLaughlin) Markley. Betty Ann was a 1948 graduate of Germantown High School.
A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, happily caring for her husband and three children, Betty Ann had also worked part-time at Logan Elementary School for the Philadelphia School District. In later years, she would also work as a part-time secretary at the Upper Bucks Christian School, in Sellersville.
Betty Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was ten years old and was baptized at the Third Baptist Church of Germantown. After moving to Bucks County in 1979, Betty Ann and Reese were faithful members of Bethel Baptist Church, Sellersville for 40 years. Most recently, Betty Ann was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, in Quakertown.
A woman of great faith, Betty Ann had served her Savior by active volunteerism, ranging from neighborhood Child Evangelism meetings while resident in Germantown to teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Bible studies over the years. She also worked in the nursery, visited shut-ins, and was active with various women’s ministries. As a talented musician, she also volunteered as a pianist and organist.
An animal lover, Betty Ann also delighted in cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed following the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Phillies. Her greatest joys were found in her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and in serving her church family.
Betty Ann is survived by her three children: Thomas M. Carr and his wife, Rhonda, Jo Ann Delp and her husband, Tim, and Susan McClure and her husband, David; ten grandchildren: Kevin T., Emily, Stephanie, Kevin S., Thomas, Joseph, Sarah, Katherine, John, and Benjamin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, November 17, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2200 Krammes Road, Quakertown, PA 18951, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment in Sellersville Cemetery will be private.

Obituary Preview: Janet L. Yerger, of Lansdale, formerly of Sellersville, Quakertown, and Reading, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale. She was 78.
Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late George and Flora Jane (Shelmire) Luddy. A sister, Evelyn, with whom Janet shared an unbreakable bond, later joined the family as they enjoyed a childhood of adventures and frequent visits to extended family in Quakertown.
The family relocated to Sellersville, and Janet attended Pennridge High School, in Perkasie, where she met James Yerger. They later married and became the parents of two children, Melanie and James Jeffrey Yerger.
Over the years, Janet was employed in a variety of occupations, including owning and operating her own business, being involved in chemical sales, and working in a cafeteria. Her strong work ethic made her successful in all of her endeavors.
An unquenchable thirst for learning continued throughout her life, at times complimented with college coursework studies. Later in life, she relished traveling with her long-time companion, the late Harold “Hap” Galer. They traveled extensively and captivated all listeners with their many tales. On the subject of companions, none was dearer to her than “Sam,” her beloved Corgi.
In 2021, she moved to Elm Terrace Gardens, which offered her new special friends and activities. She played cards, worked in the café, participated in the book club, and gardened.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses at Elm Terrace Gardens, especially Betty and Melody. Their care, guidance, and attentiveness helped Janet navigate some very difficult days.
Janet is survived by her children: Melanie Becker and James Jeffrey Yerger (Deborah); four grandchildren: Timothy Yerger (Renee), Matthew Yerger (Rachel), Julie Becker, and Daniel Becker; eight great-grandchildren to whom she was a doting “GiGi”: Seth, Micah, Levi, and Jared Yerger, Maxwell Becker, Madisyn Doucette, Forrest Yerger, and Savannah Yerger. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Evelyn Bitner and her husband, Tom; her dear Aunt Peg; wonderful cousins; and many fabulous friends.
At her request, there will be no formal services, although she did want a Celebration of Life Party. Details will be announced at a later date.

Audrey attended Emmaus High School, later earning her GED in 1995.
Mrs. Clemmer had been employed as a custodian for 25 years by the Souderton School District until taking a disability retirement in 1995. Since 2005, she had worked part-time answering phones for New Station Pizza, in Souderton. When younger, she had also worked at various local sewing factories.
Audrey was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Sellersville.
Over the years, she had enjoyed attending Bingo at the Sellersville Firehouse. She also liked coloring, but she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Clemmer is survived by her daughter, Amanda R. Diehl, of Sellersville; two grandchildren: Alisha Diehl and Alexis Diehl; a nephew, Jeremy A. Diehl; a stepbrother, David Aldredge, of Texas; three half-brothers: Charles G. Diehl, John V. Diehl, and Thomas V. Diehl; a half-sister, Mary Ann Diehl; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Clemmer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert M. Diehl; a brother-in-law, Weldon D. Clemmer; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Stoneback.

Born in Doylestown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Helga S. (Keisers) Yates.
Lynn was a 1984 graduate of Palisades High School, Kintnersville, where she had played on both the basketball and softball teams.
Mrs. Schuster was employed as a head teller/loan officer with Quakertown National Bank and Harleysville National Bank for 18 years. She was most recently employed with Carson Valley Children’s Aid as a payroll coordinator for seven years. An exceptionally gifted bowler, Lynn had participated in a Quakertown league for many years. With her husband, she had also been a member of a semi-pro travel league. As a family member proudly noted, “She could ‘strike’ a lot of men off the lane.”
Lynn was an avid country music fan. She had also enjoyed attending dirt track racing events. An animal lover as well, Lynn especially cherished cats, often rescuing strays. She enjoyed all sorts of food but particularly loved tacos, and her sister Barbara’s chicken enchiladas, while always saving room for some seafood, including lobster.
In addition to her husband, Lynn is survived by her daughter, Robyn Lynn Newman, and son-in-law, Michael Newman; three sisters and one brother; many nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and a great-nephew; and several friends that were like family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Norman and Lorraine Schuster, and one niece, Katelyn.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
