Stephen Eugene Civitello Sr. - March 30, 1948 - May 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Stephen Eugene Civitello, 76, of Lakeland, Florida passed away May 20, 2024 peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born on March 30, 1948 in Schenectady, New York to Eugene and Louise Civitello. Stephen graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY in the class of 1966. After graduating, he started an apprenticeship at General Electric, pursuing a career as a machinist which he continued until he retired at the age of 55. He stayed busy during his retirement, working as a teachers aide, where he loved the time he spent with the children. Stephen also served in Vietnam in the Marine Corps from 1968-1971. He was proud to serve his country, and could often be seen wearing his marine hat when he was out. Stephen was an avid fisherman and hunter and boy was he a great shot. He loved to fish at Lake Champlain in upstate NY but his greatest catch was his wife Sandra!
Stephen was a devoted husband and father. He would always lend a hand or ear to anyone that needed him, even willing to go as far as to give you the shirt right off his back. He had a very special bond with his only grandson, Parker. While their time together was short, it was full of love and laughter.
He was a man of immense humor, honor and filled with love. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.
Stephen is survived by: his loving wife of 52 years Sandra Civitello, son Stephen Civitello Jr. (Anne-Marie), grandson Parker Civitello, daughter Stephanie Civitello, sister Carol Shartrand, brothers Thomas Civitello (Ellen) and Eugene Civitello Jr. (Debra), sister in-law's Kathy Tyler and Krista Inman, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Al was born September 21, 1937, in Pensacola, Florida. He obtained an Associate in Arts Degree from Pensacola Junior College, where he was active in Student Government, serving as Senate President and Student Body VP, and in sports, as Tennis Team Captain and Golf Team Member. In 1959, He received a BSBA Degree from the University of Florida, where he was in the Society for the Advancement of Management, and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and met his future wife, Majorie Klettner of Orlando.
He married Marjorie in 1960, and together they raised 3 children, all of whom have families, living in Florida and Texas with a total of 7 grandchildren, who called Al “Papa”.
His business career included Insurance Company positions in Atlanta, New York, Raleigh, Foreign and Domestic Insurance Management at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn and abroad, and Managing Director at Marsh & McLennan, Inc. in Houston, Texas.
Al served as an Ordained Elder at 4 Presbyterian Churches in Michigan, Texas and Florida, on Presbytery Committees in Texas, and was a member of Wekiva Presbyterian Church in Longwood, Florida. He was an avid golfer and boasted of playing golf on all 6 Major Continents. He was also a model train hobbyist, with landscaped layouts in Texas and Florida.
Al is survived by daughters Sherri Porter Erwin (Don), Kerbi Porter Blake (Brent) and son C. Andrew (Drew) Porter (Julie), plus grandchildren Rebekah, Andrew, Travis, Sydney, Matthew, Andrew and Audrey.

The family will receive friends at Winter Haven Christian Church on May 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will 11:00 a.m. With Pastor Jim Reed officiating. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park following the service.

Ms. Viviana V. Suarez -Prince passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, of cardiac edema at Winter Haven Hospital. Ms. Suarez was a long- term employee of the Advertiser of Polk County, having befriended many during that time. Ms. Suarez is a baptized Christian, having an abiding faith in Jesus Christ. In God's grace, she is now returned to her Lord and Messiah.
Originally born in Havana, Cuba in 1939, Ms. Suarez fled to Florida in 1959 shortly after Fidel Castro invaded her country, declaring Communism. Ms. Suarez graduated from Coral Gables High School, later earning a college degree in interior design. In the 1980s Ms. Suarez became a licensed real estate agent and rental property owner in Columbia South Carolina. Having been the loving mother of only one child, she leaves behind her son, James Tison, now a resident of South Carolina. Ms. Suarez is proceeded in death by her father, Mr. Antonio Santos ("The Boss" as he was affectionately known), formerly of Florence, South Carolina, her mother, Edith Loret Domola Suarez , of San Juan, Puerto Rico, her brother, Mr. Antonio Suarez Loret-de-Mola of San Juan, her aunt, Mrs. Gladys Alexander ("Yayee"), of Lakeland Florida, and her former husband, Donald G. Tison of Winter Haven (who was sadly murdered in 1998).
Ms. Suarez's ashes have been received, and are cared for by her only child: James Tison.
May the continuing journey of Ms. Suarez, my beloved mother, be in happiness forevermore.

David Louis Royalty Jr. - July 02, 1933 - April 17, 2024

Obituary Preview: Dave Royalty was born in Winslow, IN, son of David and Edith Royalty.
He spent four years in the US Navy as a member of an admiral's staff on board various aircraft carriers.
He was a graduate of Butler University and the Indiana University School of Law and a member of the Indiana and Illinois state bar associations.
Mr Royalty worked for the State Farm Insurance companies for 40 years before retiring as Asst. Vice President of the Legal Section of the Claims Department in 1997. During his career there, he was guest speaker and panel participant at numerous state bar association meetings including those in California, Indiana, Colorado, and Illinois. He was most proud of being on a panel with Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at a meeting of the Southern California Defense Lawyers Association in 1992.
Following retirement, he spent three years doing mediation work in the small claims courts of Polk County while also enjoying frequent rounds of golf.
He is survived by sons Mark and Brian, brother Richard, granddaughters Melanie and Heidi, and great granddaughter Etta. There will be no visitation or service.

Louetta was born to Charles Snider and Jewel Biles Snider Shaw on January 2, 1938 in Lowry City, MO. She moved to Dundee, Florida in 1954, where she met and married the love of her life Broadwell Leo Ivey on December 13, 1954. It was in Dundee that she began to build a life and family, together with her husband and four children (Randy, Joey, Marsha, and Kim).
Throughout the years, Louetta worked at various canning plants as a fruit sectionizer, but her true passion was caring for those around her. She had a beautiful soul that loved unconditionally. You could always find her cooking for her family and loving on her grandbabies giving the best back scratches. She was an incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
Louetta was preceded in death by her husband, Broadwell Leo Ivey, her sons Randy Leo Ivey and Joey Lynn Ivey, her daughter-in-law Thelma Lynn Ivey, her son-in-law J.R. Mayne, grandson Toy Leo Ivey, sister Udora “Tudy” Kalwei, and brothers Terry and Larry Snider.
She is survived by her daughters Marsha Mayne and Kimberly Strickland, 10 grandchildren (Chad, Brandi, Crystal, Shane, Michael, Megan, Hunter, Timbra, Laura, and Misty), 21 great grandchildren, and many brothers and sisters.

Obituary Preview: Malcolm “Mac” Harry Hall’s family is sad to announce his passing on April 12, 2024. Mac was born to late parents William and Mary Hall, in July 1938 in Mayville, New York; he was 85 years old.
Mac is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lois Hall, and is survived by sons; Kevin Hall (Christine Hall; grandchildren Madison Hall, Devin Hall, and Allison Hall), William Hall ( Dana Hall; grandchild Noelle Hall), Micheal Hall, Bob Hall (grandchildren Christy White and Chad Hall), Jimmy Hall, and daughter Tonya Hall (grandchildren Josh Dickerson and David Dickerson) and many great-grandchildren.
Mac spent his life serving and protecting his communities with a successful and distinguished life-long career in law enforcement. His career began as an Ohio State Police officer. Afterward, he moved to Florida where he began working for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. He finally joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office in the early ’70s and enjoyed a successful career, until Captain “Mac” hung up his hat and retired in 2002. While working for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Mac also taught and trained many current and former deputies.
After retiring, Mac enjoyed spending time with Lois traveling on many cruises, playing golf, and camping. He also enjoyed spending time and making unforgettable memories with his many wonderful grandchildren, whom he adored.
A memorial mass and celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Chapel in Winter Haven, on June 8, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.

Louise was born October 10, 1952 in Middletown, Connecticut to David Hunt Rollason and Jean Louise (Semple) Rollason. She was an avid flute player in high school, then found her true calling as devoted wife to Paul Daniel and loving mother to Jessica. She volunteered thousands of hours at the middle and high schools and was proud and honored to be named Polk County Volunteer of the Year. In her spare time, she was a family history buff who traced her ancestors back to the Mayflower. She loved her crafts, her garden, and her feathered friends, as well as the furry fellows who brought her such joy. Louise is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul Daniel; daughter Jessica Daniel Yarnell (husband Richard) of Orlando;
sister Amy Feran (husband Tom) of Cleveland, Ohio; and brother David Rollason Jr. (wife Frances) of Questa, New Mexico.
A private gravesite ceremony will be held, followed by interment, Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Dicy Louise Dietrich, age 88, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in her home in Winter Haven, Florida on the evening of March 8, 2024. Her husband of 66 years was by her side. Dicy was born in Turkey, KY on September 15, 1935 to Arthur & Nannie, (Terry) Johnson. She was a 1953 graduate of Breathitt County HS in Jackson, KY. Upon graduation she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and soon started work as a switchboard operator at Cincinnati Bell. She continued to work there until her retirement in 1989. Together with her husband Charles, they raised 2 daughters, Susan & Paula.
Upon retirement they moved to Chattanooga, TN to be closer to her daughters & grandchildren. In 1998 they moved to Winter Haven, Florida. Here she became an avid bridge player & devoted countless hours to her flower gardens. There was always something blooming in the yard. She was also an avid walker around the neighborhood and always a compassionate ear and helping hand to her neighbors of all ages. She is preceded in death by her parents & older brother, Arch Johnson, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Charles (91), her brother Arthur Johnson, Jr.,and her daughters, Susan (Mote) of Winter Haven & Paula Dietrich of Ft Oglethorpe, GA. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren- Heather Kopacek (Austin, TX), Dr. Phillip Mote (Estero, FL) and Cassidy & Zachary Dietrich (Ft Oglethorpe, GA). She also had 2 great-grandsons.
Her funeral will be 9am on April 26, 2024 at St Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven where she will be inurned in their Columbarium.

Dr. Bob practiced chiropractic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 6 years then moved the family to Lakeland, Florida in 1956 and then to Winter Haven in 1957. Barbara assisted with the business operations of Smith Chiropractic with Dr. Bob until retiring after 40 years of practice. Both Barbara and Dr. Bob were very active in the ministry of Havendale Baptist Church in Winter Haven. Barbara loved witnessing for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Backyard Bible Clubs, Child Evangelism Ministries, and her influence affected many children even into adulthood. Her love of music was contagious and her ministry as pianist, choir director and special music was a big part of her life. Barbara was a missionary both locally and internationally to Ecuador, Jamacia, St. Kitts, and Nicaragua where many souls were won to Christ. Barbara was a dedicated mother to her family and a wonderful Christain woman with an uplifting and positive personality. Barbara will always be remembered for her deep abiding love for her Lord and for her cherished family.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert Smith, her sister Peggy Stavropulos Scher, oldest son Brad V. Smith, grandsons Brook P. Smith and Jarrod Smith. Barbara’s remaining family are son Dr. Rick M. Smith (wife Karen), son Kirk P. Smith (wife Tory), Becky Smith (Brad’s wife). She had 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: On February 18, 2024, Francis Lee Weber, 87, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away at a hospital in Winter Haven, Florida, with his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, Patricia, and his son Brad at his bedside.
Francis was born in the small northeast Kansas town of Home to Helen and Floyd Weber on February 8, 1937. He was the eldest son in a family of 11 children. While attending school, he worked on his grandfather’s farm and at a grocery store but his love of movies, particularly westerns, began when he worked as an usher at the local theater. Francis joined the US Air Force in 1956.
First meeting on a blind date, Patricia Matson and Francis were married in Axtell, Kansas in December of 1958. The first years of their marriage were spent in Tucson, Arizona where Francis was serving at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Francis was not allowed to tell Patricia what his top-secret military work entailed but years later he disclosed he was on a daily assignment to dismantle atomic bombs beneath a tent in the middle of the Arizona desert.
After leaving the Air Force in 1961, Francis and Pat moved back to Kansas where he ran the Home Imperial Filling Station. After that he spent 20 plus years managing Safeway grocery stores in Kansas and Nebraska and another 20 years with Fleming Foods in the Kansas City area. Never one to be idle, in retirement Francis started his own business sharpening blades for the pet food industry which he still operated until recently.
Francis loved being with his family, fishing on his friend Ray’s private lake, traveling, and camping. He was truly someone that could fix and build ANYTHING. He loved watching his favorite sports teams on TV including the KC Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks, and when they were winning, the KC Royals. Family Who Went Before
Francis was predeceased by his father Floyd Weber, his mother Helen Miller, his daughter Pam Weber, and granddaughter Meghan Miranda. Family He Left Behind
Francis is survived by wife Patricia and his son Brad Weber. Francis was a wonderful grandfather and was devoted to his granddaughters Brittany Blankenship (Benjamin) and Samantha Weickert as well as two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ezra Blankenship. On Patricia’s side of the family, he leaves behind brother-in-law Ken Matson (Mary) and sister-in-law Jeannie Heinen (Dale) and nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Francis was the eldest son of 11 children and he leaves behind all 10 siblings including Marilyn Wing (Herman), Barbara Pence (Perry), Ronald Weber (Karlene), Galen Weber (Jeanette), Patty Hudson (Ed), Leeman Weber (Linda), Richard Weber (Nancy), Terry Weber (Sherry), Kathy Grove (Earl), and Colleen Johnson (Ken) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was survived by her loving children, son, Thomas (Carmen), daughter, Dawn, and grandson (Robert). She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Lydia Britt, brothers; John, Russell, William, Donald, David, sisters; Florence Lesperance, Hazel Poissant, Eileen Paige, Mary Sarlin, Theresa Bartlett, Barbara Littlefield, and her loving husband (Robert), to whom she was married to for 38 years.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 21, at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Winter Haven.

Dawn moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 1964, During her career, she worked at Westwood Junior High School, GTE and Bartow Middle School before retiring at 78 years old.
Dawn was a volunteer at the Friends of the Winter Haven Public Library and the Winter Haven Hospital. She was an avid reader and loved gardening, taking walks and vacationing with family and friends.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Johnson and Harvey Johnson, sisters Brenda Giuseppe and Karen McComb and her beloved son, Michael Keith Giammetta.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Vicky (Ken) Bauernschub and Dawn (Jon) Johnson, Daughter-In-Law, Vicky Billingsley, Granddaughters, Krissy (Jon) Knowles and Taylor Johnson (Karl Vetter – Fiancé), Great Granddaughters, McKenzie Knowles and Charlotte Knowles.
Dawn truly loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A casual celebration of life will be held at Schack’s BBQ, 3000 Cypress Gardens Road, Winter Haven, FL from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
