Frank "Bud" S. Brewer - August 30, 1929 - December 03, 2023

Departed: 12/03/2023 (Richland Center)
Obituary Preview: Frank S. “Bud” Brewer, age 94 of Richland Center, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in his home following a chronic illness. He was born on August 30, 1929 in Richland Center, WI the son of Bryan and Marian (Clarson) Brewer. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1957. Bud was married on January 16, 1960 to the former Karen L. Ewing. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Richland Center American Legion Post #13, and worked for the REA for 32 years.
Bud was a very special soul. His charisma, wit, humor, confidence, and unsurpassed honesty just drew you in, fostering a strong desire to absorb even a small piece of his knowledge and wisdom. He was a man to look up to and a man many aspired to be. He was the most resourceful and an excellent salesman who could make a buck on almost anything he created with his talented hands and mind. He certainly lived life to the fullest and had no fear of trying anything for he knew he would not fail…and he never did. As Bud never allowed the moss to grow under his feet, the stories he racked up to tell could fill a library no doubt. He had a passion for and excelled at high school boxing, rifle team, trapping, rattlesnake, duck and deer hunting, fishing, scuba diving, bee keeping, worm farming, chopping wood with a Monster maul, doing backflips off of the diving board in his 80’s, and mushroom hunting and harvesting ginseng and collecting antiques, bottles, buttons and traps.
Bud had great love for all animals both big and small. He could be seen rescuing a dog from the ice on the Mill Pond with no hesitation even when others stood back. While working for the REA, he once brought home a baby squirrel “Woody” in his lunch box he saved from a fallen tree. As a child Bud used his charm and befriended more than his share of wild animals such as foxes, racoons, skunks, muskrats, and birds. He never kept any animal that did not want to stay, and he never hunted any animal for sport nor wasted anything he was blessed enough to receive. He was certainly an advocate for the outdoors and was a lifetime member of the NTA and a member of the NRA.
Bud was a man made of steel with his big barrel chest and Popeye arms, yet he had the most kind and softest heart for all creatures. As we are all unique, Bud was certainly one of a kind with the ability to overcome any challenge that he encountered, and we truly believe there was nothing he could not do. When he ran out of challenges, he just created his own. They definitely don’t make them like Bud anymore. He will be missed beyond measure by all that were blessed to know him, love him, and be loved by him.
Bud is survived by his children; Lori (Rick) Burbach of Spring Green, Lisa (Bill) Muth of Richland Center, Pat (Susan Boies) Brewer of Muscoda, Dan (Tonja Ehalt) Brewer of Richland Center; eight grandchildren, Aaron Brewer, Dalton, and Waylon Burbach; Cole, Jill, Melissa and Elizabeth Muth, and Zachary Brewer; several great- grandchildren; his loyal companion “Izzy Boo”, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a special friend Craig Culver, of the Culver’s restaurant chain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Marian Brewer; his wife; Karen Brewer; a grandson, Ben Brewer; a brother; Bob Brewer, three sisters, Dorothy Ewers, Joan Fruit and twin sister Francis “Boots” Ewers.

David "Dave" W. Haesler - October 23, 1946 - November 01, 2023

Departed: 11/01/2023 (Richland Center)
Obituary Preview: After an extended illness, David “Dave” William Haesler fell asleep in death on November 1, 2023. He had a happy and rich life. He was born on October 23, 1946 to William and Gunvar Haesler in Monroe, WI. Along with his parents and his brother Robert he grew up on farms in both Argyle and Belmont, WI. Dave and Bob’s happy childhood was filled with shared adventures and travel that forged a deep and lasting bond of friendship. They were always there to support each other through all of life’s ups and downs.
Dave’s unshakable faith began in his youth and continued throughout his whole life. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 17. He enjoyed volunteering his time talking about the Bible’s comfort and hope, giving Bible discourses, and building and renovating Kingdom Halls.
On May 3, 1969 he married his sweetheart Lauren Lindskog. Their first home was in Darlington, WI but they soon moved to Richland Center, WI where they raised their four children Denyse, Kimberly, Monica, and Bryan. Later his blessings increased when he became a Grandpa to Jack and Adalynn.
Dave’s upbeat, positive, and jovial attitude was contagious to all who met him. His gift of gab was legendary and his hearty laugh infectious. In fact, that is how many will remember him-laughing, chuckling, joking, and snickering mischievously. Dave was always ready and willing to help others in moments of need, whether that be a project, phone calls, or ice cream deliveries. He enjoyed working hard to provide for his family and in the process gained many clients as friends. True to his nature, even when he didn’t feel well, he didn’t complain, but with a smile on his face made sure to thank his caregivers and say something to brighten their day.
With his great love for people, it’s no surprise that the most special place in his heart was for his family. He was very devoted to and proud of his family. His phone was always in hand ready to share the latest story or picture of them. As a family they enjoyed many vacations at the cabin in Northern Minnesota, boating, go-carting, horseback riding, snowmobiling, attending get-togethers and conventions. Dave and Lauren cared for their son Bryan with tender devotion for decades as a team. He was adored and will be greatly missed by his family, countless friends, and community.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lauren Haesler of Richland Center; daughter, Denyse (John) Ekrann of New York; daughter Kimberly Haesler of Maine; daughter Monica (Ben) Halvorson of Spring Green, WI; son, Bryan Haesler of Richland Center, WI; grandson, Jack Palmacci of Maine; granddaughter, Adalynn Halvorson, of Spring Green, WI; brother, Robert (Stacy) Haesler of Darlington, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gunvar Haesler.
A special thank you to all the caregivers, doctors, and hundreds of friends who made Dave’s last few months of life comfortable.

Jeanette E. Brewer - April 10, 1934 - October 21, 2023

Departed: 10/21/2023 (Richland Center)
Obituary Preview: Jeanette E. Brewer, age 89, of Richland Center, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Schmitt Woodland Hills.
Jeanette Etta Brewer was born April 10, 1934, on a farm in the town of Franklin, in Sauk County WI. This farm is currently part of White Mound County Park. When she was a toddler her family moved to Muscoda, WI. Jeanette always reflected fondly on her childhood days in Muscoda and the wonderful times she had with family and friends there. She graduated from Muscoda High School in 1952 and was her class valedictorian. Her class rank earned her a scholarship grant to attend the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
She then moved to Madison and began school at UW-Madison, with the intent to become a pharmacist. She liked living in Madison and would often talk about the places she lived, the events that happened, and about taking the Friday train home to visit family and friends.
Later she returned home to Muscoda to live and worked in the office of The Muscoda Progressive newspaper. Around this time, she met and later married Robert J. (Bob) Brewer. The pair were married at St John’s Church in Muscoda on a very cold winter day, in February. There was no functioning heat in the church. Their marriage lasted until Bob’s passing in November 2005.
Jeanette and Bob had a common love for travel and UW-Badger sports. They traveled to watch Badger football in all of the Big 10 stadiums at the time. Jeanette remained a football season ticket holder for 53 years. In addition to Badger football Jeanette was an avid Badger basketball follower.
She was a stay-at-home mother with the exception of working at the polls during elections. Later she went to work for Hunt Lumber Co. and worked there until it was sold. Later she was an assistant manager at EZ Stop, a convenience store in Richland Center, and finally she retired from Rockwell Automation in October 2004.
While retired she served as an election supervisor at the polls in Richland Center and was a volunteer at the Richland Hospital. Jeanette was a proud member of the committee that helped select the design for the Richland Center Community/Woodman Senior Center. After the building was constructed and opened, she served as a host at the The Woodman Senior Center, where she enjoyed being with others and playing countless hours of Pinochle.
Family was always important to Jeanette. She loved to get her family together for holidays. The big meal at her house was a must. She liked to attend activities that involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and do so until somewhat recently.
In life we all have regrets. Jeanette’s biggest regret was never being allowed to hold her newborn son Peter John. Peter was born with breathing problems and lived only a few short days. Left to cherish her memory are Bruce (Jerrilyn) Brewer, Sparta, Denise Brewer, Richland Center, Fr. Vincent Brewer, Sun Prairie, and Michelle (Brian) Pietz, Lester Prairie, MN. Five grandchildren: Lisa (Robert) Rainwater- Baggett,Winston-Salem, NC , Jeff (Tina) Rainwater, Lake Barrington, IL , Joshua (Lauretta) Bell, Hillsboro,WI, Mallory (Kyle) Verdoes, Marshall, MN, and Matthew Pietz of Hopkins, MN.
Six great grandchildren: McKenzie Bell, Austin TX, Hayden Bell, Zachary Bell, and Megan Bell, Hillsboro, WI Keaton, Cade, and soon to be baby Verdoes, Marshall, MN.
Jeanette is also survived by her brother Roy Brokaw, Muscoda, WI. a special niece: Mary (Kathy) Ewers and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, John H. Brokaw and Agnes (Cooper) Brokaw; her husband, Robert; her in-laws, Bryan W. Brewer and Marian C. (Clarson) Brewer; brother, Phillip Brokaw; and infant son Peter John Brewer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Richland Center. Fr. Vincent Brewer will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. Phyllis M. Keller - April 21, 1931 - January 26, 2023

Departed: 01/26/2023 (Richland Center)
Obituary Preview: Phyllis Marie Keller, 91, of Richland Center received her heavenly reward on January 26, 2023 at Schmitt Woodland Hills in Richland Center after a brief bout with metastatic breast cancer.
She was born on April 21, 1931 in Richland Center, the daughter of Velma (Carter) and Charles Glen Keys. After graduating high school, she attended UW Stout in Menominee. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernard (Bun) Keller on February 3, 1951. They were able to enjoy 62 years of marriage before Bun’s death in 2013.
Phyllis began her 34year career as a jeweler at Burnham Jewelers in Richland Center, after 17 years as a salesperson and later manager, she and Bun bought and expanded the business over the following 17 years. Phyllis was a trailblazer in the jewelry industry; she became the first female member of the Wisconsin Jewelers Association and was also WJA Secretary for over 12 years. Phyllis dearly loved her customers and employees. After more than 35 years of retirement, she and several former employees would still get together for coffee on a regular basis.
Anyone who knows her would say Phyllis can never be replaced as a boss, neighbor, volunteer or community leader. The community and civic organizations she supported or was a part of are too numerous to mention, but even in her most recent years she remained exhaustingly active. Some of these endeavors included: a current member of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce and on their Board of Directors for over 25 years, Corporate Board for the Richland Hospital for over 9 years, a Charter member of Richland Area Crimestoppers, volunteer at both the Food Pantry and the Richland Hospital and member of PEO Chapter R for 50 years. Phyllis received the Richland County Lifetime Service Award in 2014 and in 2019 she received the Community Stewardship Award. She loved bringing Christmas goodies to the local Fire, Police, Sheriff Departments and EMS every year. Trick or Treaters will no longer have this neighborhood lady to make them homemade cookies (approximately 200) that are individually wrapped special for them…. which she also loved doing!
The one quality that rose above all other was her faith. She was a member of Park Street Christian Church. She taught children’s Sunday School for 66 years and was in the Church choir for 73 years. Her family, friends and all those who came in contact with her knew of her faith in God and that this relationship is what kept her going on a daily basis. She was frequently heard in her last days saying she was ready to go to heaven to be with Bun and see her Savior.
Phyllis is survived by three her children: Ellen (Keller) Evans (Robert) of McFarland, Randy Keller (Sharon Wheat) of Richland Center and Rick (Janet) Keller of Joplin, Missouri. Seven grandchildren: Laura Bird Kriebs, Ryan Bird (Samantha Thomas), Brian (Elizabeth) Keller, Ben Keller, Janae (Ben) Dodson, Jordan Keller and Michael Evans (Jen LaSavage). Great grandchildren: Jackson Keller Kriebs, Joslyn Keller, Elise Keller, Aiden Dodson and Asher Dodson, a brother Bill Keys of Richland Center; extended family: Mary Fry of Germantown, Van Yenbumroong of Bangkok, Thailand and special friend Betty Boeing of Richland Center. Phyllis will also be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Bun, two sisters and their husbands; Jean Alf and brother-in-law John Alf, Ruth Moser and brother-in-law Bud Moser.
