Virginia "Ginny" Billings - September 05, 1928 - April 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Virginia “Ginny” Billings, 93, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Born and raised in the Jacksonville, IL area, she was the daughter of Ross and Laura Sample. She married David Billings in 1949, living in Galva, IL and Glen Ellyn, IL before moving to Walloon Lake, MI in 1987, spending many winters in Gold Canyon, AZ after they retired.
Her husband preceded her in death on the same date in 2008. She is survived by two sons, Bart and Chuck and two daughters, Becky Olson and Janet Miller; seven grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews and their families; as well as many friends and young people to whom she was known as Grandma Ginny. She will be remembered for her deep faith, bright smile, kind heart and warm hospitality.

Robert "Bob" Keith LaVanway - July 11, 1954 - April 22, 2022

Bob was born in Charlevoix on July 11, 1954. He married Janice, the love of his life for the past 40 years on July 18, 1981.
Bob is survived by his wife Janice, son Robert Jr. (Leah), daughter Summer and his brother Randy (Laurie).
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Elgin and Mae, mother-in-law Aubrey Wilson, siblings, Virgil (Sharon), Richard, Donald, Dale, Dennis, Shirley (Lyle) Etcher.
Bob and his brother Randy, owned and operated R & B Excavating for the last 32 years.  Before starting their business, he drove semis over the road for LaVanway Trucking.   He enjoyed deer hunting, planting food plots, watching NASCAR, morel mushroom hunting, racing his mud truck, and he was the best supervisor you could ask for as he always made sure whatever project it was that it was done right.

Phyllis Isabelle Penfold - February 07, 1933 - April 19, 2022

Obituary Preview: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” Jesus said, “When you turned 17, I gave you two big jobs: Be a housewife. Be a mother. You did both jobs extremely well. You stayed faithfully married for more than 62 years. You bore 10 children and helped your husband Cleyo provide and care for them. You nurtured your children and stood by them. You taught them to get along with each other,” Jesus continued, “You taught your children the difference between right and wrong. You worked hard and taught them to work hard. Most importantly, you taught them who I AM.”
Phyllis was born to Nolan Vernon Mann and Anna Irene Mann on February 7, 1933 at their homestead in Bliss Township. She died on the afternoon of April 19, 2022 at her home in Chandler Township at 89 years of age in the presence of many family members.
Phyllis came to Petoskey with her family at the age of three. She was educated in the Petoskey Public Schools. She married Cleyo Penfold on March 2, 1950 at the Main Street Baptist Church in Harbor Springs. They settled on top of Chandler Hill and began raising a family. Phyllis is survived by her ten children: John; Bernard (Connie) and their children Dulcinea, Miranda (Jerry) Petrowski, Abram, Adrianna Penfold (Jarrod Miller), Tabitha & Geneva; George (Jeanne) and their daughter Eva; Becky (Jan) Bruin-Slot and their sons Zachary (Dawn), Nathaniel (Danielle), & Timothy; Annabelle (Dave) Matz and their children Charles (Kristina), Kristina (Pete) Metzger, Catherine Olsen, & Mark; Eva (David) Siegrist and their daughters Jolene (Erik) Hagstrom & Kelly; Calvin (Linda) and their children Kali (Kyle) Smith, Tia (Dylan) Fettig & Joseph (Michelle); Tracy and his daughters Danielle, Kathleen & Kelsey; Kristina (Steve) Drost and their sons Jacob, Kainoa & Zander; Brent and his children Lauren, Liam & Olivia, Jordan, Adam, Maddy & Abi; an ‘adopted’ daughter, Nancy Sando; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Nicholas, Ashleigh, Joseph, Dylan, Gabriella, Keagan, Eliana, Arie, Emma, Kyle, Paige, Cameron, Jake, Jack, David, Evie, Daisy, JR, Esther, Penny, Hunter, Linnea, Corbin, Connor, Sawyer, Hannah, Lincoln, Genevieve, Hailey & Tyler; a great-great grandson Carter. Phyllis is also survived by sister-in-law Rosada Mann and many much-loved nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Nolan and Irene Mann and by her sister Juanita Petoskey and by her brothers John & George Mann, and two grandchildren, Benjamin in 1977, and Micah in 2012.
As a young girl Phyllis attended Parr Memorial Baptist Church in Petoskey and received Jesus as her savior. The Christian worldview held Phyllis steady through more than 62 years of marriage and the raising and moral training of ten children through more than 71 years of motherhood.
A memorial service will be held at Walloon Lake Community Church where she attended since 1967 on Friday April 29, 2022 at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Ellis officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. There will be a luncheon following the service. Stackus Funeral Home of Boyne City is serving the family.

Andrew Kipapa, Jr. - March 18, 1946 - April 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Andrew Kapuakela Kipapa Jr, 76, of East Jordan passed away peacefully on April 14th 2022. He was the husband of 15 years to Catherine Kipapa.
Born March 8th 1946 in Honolulu Hawaii, to Andrew & Elizabeth Kipapa. Andrew is survived by children Kailani, Kaleimomi, Kuuipo, Kapuakela, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife Lois Jo Kipapa, parents, brothers and sisters.
Andrew was employed as a bus driver for many years within the Boyne community and enjoyed early morning scripture reading. He shall be remembered for his effortless ability to brighten up any room with his infectious smile and positivity.
His celebration of life will be held 1:00 PM on April 20th, 2022 at the St. Matthews Church in Boyne City. Following the service will be a luncheon at the Boyne City Eagles Hall.

Gordon was born on January 1, 1937 at home in Boyne City, Michigan, to Wallace and Hazel Weeks.  At about age five, he was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Keith and Violet Stanley, in Boyne City, and grew up there until he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1958.
He married Nelda Kindy from Boyne City in 1958 and together raised 5 children.  He was divorced in 1990 after 32 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Wallace Stanley; both sets (birth and adopted) parents; brothers Edward "Bud" Weeks, Bob Weeks, Orvel Weeks, Bill Weeks, and Gerald Green; sisters Mildred Weeks Nessen, Esther Weeks Sehr, Maxine Weeks TenHopen, Eleanor Weeks Tudor, and Phyllis Stanley Bradley.
Gordon is survived by his former wife and friend, Nelda; three sons Gordon E. Stanley, David K. Stanley, and Mark A. Stanley; daughter Kim E. (Bill) Davis; a brother, Joseph Dressler; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gordon will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City with a gathering of family and friends being held from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City.

Martha Lorraine Vondra - March 04, 1948 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marti (Hill) Vondra. Born March 4th, 1949 in Stockton, Illinois, Marti was raised by her grandmother to be an independent and gracious woman. Growing up, she had three siblings, sister Linda being one of her best friends and confidants.
On August 5th 1967, Marti married Ed Vondra in Stockton, Illinois. The two were excited to build a large, beautiful family and were the proud parents of seven children: daughter, Peg  (Matt, Adam, Amanda, Noah, and Jacob) son Rick (Teri, Isabelle, Rachel, Hannah, and Henry), son Chuck (Theresa, Emma and Max), son Shawn (Stacy, Sam and Grace), son Andy (Katie, Nick, Claudia and Conor), son Tim (Mandi, Eli, Deanna and Abigail) and son Damian. Anyone who knew Marti knew how passionate she was about her family. She found the most joy in the world while watching her children and grandchildren grow, learn, and succeed.
Marti and Ed moved their family to Boyne City, Michigan in the summer of 1986 after deciding to follow the journey that they knew the Lord was asking them to walk. Always wanting to give back to the community, Marti was a selfless leader in the foster care system. Over the years, Marti was a host-mother to over 300 youth working to overcome addiction and legal mistakes.
While it saddens us to say goodbye, we know our Grammie is enjoying an ice-cold Diet Pepsi, listening to Jimmy Buffet with those who preceded her in death, including her son Damian and husband Ed. Donations in Marti Vondra’s memory can be made to the Damian Vondra Memorial Scholarship Fund. The program provides college scholarships to Boyne City High School graduates.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10th from 5-8 p.m. at Stackus Funeral Home. On Monday, April 11th at St. Matthew’s in Boyne City there will be a visitation at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, April 5, 2022 at St Augustine Catholic Church, 2347 Grove Street, Boyne Falls, Michigan 49713. Visitation will be at St. Augustine Church on April 4th, 2022 from 5:00pm-8:00pm with the Rosary to be held 7:00pm.
Burial will be at St Augustine Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Brenda Sevenski to offset expenses or donations to National Kidney foundation.

June was born August 18, 1930 in Petoskey, Michigan the daughter of the late August and Olga Johnecheck.  She grew up in Boyne City and graduated from Boyne City High School.
On September 11, 1948 she married Raymond Anthony; the lover of her life at her parents’ home in Bay Township.
June is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; borther Albert Johnecheck; sister Jean Stutzman; son Mark Anthony and granddaughter Michelle Robinette.
She is survived by sister Alice Miller; sons Raymond (Loretta), Brian; daughter Vivian; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
June cherished her family and many friends; especially her church family at the Horton Bay United Methodist Church.
Per the family request a private ceremony will be held at a later date.  Interment will take place at Evangeline Township Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stackus Funeral Home.

Grandchildren Gavin (Alyssa) Lauinger, Eli Gillespie, Kylee Carpenter, and Savanna Settle. Great grandchildren, Auron Puff, and Kali Lauinger and several nieces and nephews.
Her family and friends will remember her as a very giving, fair, and empathetic person.
Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 20. 2022 at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City.  Following the visitation family and friends are invited back to the family home for a light reception.

Sally Kaye Scott - March 09, 1936 - March 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Sally Kaye Scott, age 86, passed away suddenly Sunday, March 13th at her home in Boyne City.
Sally was born on March 9th, 1936 in North Branch MI, daughter of Ivan and Hazel Moore.  She attended North Branch schools and nursing school at Burns Clinic in Petoskey.  She went on to work at Burns Clinic & Little Traverse Hospital as a surgical nurse. Sally was united in marriage to Mike, the love of her life, on June 15, 1957 for more than 54 years making Boyne City their home.  She was a loving, caring and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, with her family being her whole world.
Most of her 28 years with the Boyne City school system she worked as the Elementary School Nurse.  One of her greatest joys was helping elementary kids through difficult days.  Sally loved being outside, spending many summers at their cabin in the UP, boating and swimming.  In the winters, she would be snowmobiling and tending bonfires, cooking dinner on the fire. Driving by the house you may have seen Sally mowing the lawn or taking walks with her little dog. Sally and Mike traveled throughout the United States and ended up spending many winters in Arizona. They loved playing golf, square dancing, playing cards and spending time with new friends made along the way.
Sally is survived by her daughters, Terrie (Mark) of Boyne City and Florida, Ginnie (Mike) of New Mexico  and Cindi (Ford) of Michigan and Arizona, five grandsons, Chad, John, Scott, Patrick and Matthew; two great-granddaughters Acacia and Aneliese and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Sally in death was her husband Mike, her parents Ivan and Hazel Moore, infant son Jeffrey, sister Iva Strich and brother Alvin Moore.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 at the Boyne City United Methodist Church.  A reception will immediately follow the service.

Obituary Preview: Jean Inez (Hammontree) Rauch,  97 went home to join her husband  and Jesus, her Lord and  Savior, on March 9, 2022.  She was born on March 24, 1924 in Clarion, Michigan.  She served alongside of her husband as a Free Methodist pastor's wife for 37 years.  She dedicated her life to her family and serving the parishioners  in the church.  She loved her husband and her sons with all her heart.  She was dedicated to doing her devotions while drinking her coffee every day before breakfast.  Her sons remember her as a woman of prayer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Inez Hammontree of Petoskey, her husband, Carlton Rauch, six sisters, Phyllis, Evelyn, Betty, Margaret, and Dolly, three brothers, Jack, Leon Jerry, and her granddaughter Krista Rauch.
Jean is survived by one sister, Marcia Butters of Homer Michigan, three sons, David (Margaret) Rauch of Petoskey Mi, Don (Cheri) Rauch of Lakeview MI., Darrel (Wendy) Rauch of Sumner MI., 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
The Rauch Family would like to express our deep appreciation for the love and care provided to our mother and grandmother by the Grandview Medical Care Facility Staff.

Bernice Edwards - August 07, 1929 - March 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Under God’s mercy, Bernice Edwards (nee Coats), 92, of Boyne City, passed peacefully on March 5, 2022 in Boyne Falls, Michigan after a short illness.
Bernice was born on August 7, 1929 in Grand Ledge, MI to Orrie and Bertha Coats. After graduating from Phoenix Union High School in 1948, Bernice moved home to Michigan and began working at Wheel Weights in SE Michigan where she was employed for 17 years.
Bernice married the love of her life and best friend, James Edwards, in 1971 in New Baltimore, MI. In 1972, the couple moved to Boyne City where, for many years, they owned a home on North Street. Bernice attended First Presbyterian Church in Boyne City, volunteered at the BC Senior Center, and was an enthusiastic member of the BC Senior Steppers Club dance group.
Bernice was welcomed into heaven by her parents, husband, son, Gregory, step-son, James Jr., as well as sisters, Zoe, Jessie, Lorraine, and Donna. Bernice will be remembered lovingly by nephew, Paul Winter (Marilyn), and four generations of adoring nieces and nephews. We will miss her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eye.
Bernice loved the simple things that life afforded - cuddles with her little dogs, seeing birds in the feeder, and collecting lighthouses in every form. A spirited Detroit Tiger fan, nothing brought her more joy than watching a baseball game while munching on a hotdog. Bernice truly appreciated northern Michigan life, Lake Charlevoix, and the small town feel of Boyne City. She was happiest surrounded by friends and family.
Private family services and burial will be held in the spring of 2022 at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City with the assistance of Stackus Funeral Home.
The family of Bernice wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Kevin and Marlene Robinson of Valley Assisted Living in Boyne Falls. Kevin and Marlene took extraordinary care of our dear Aunt Bernice the last 10 years of her life in their beautiful and loving AFC home. We will forever be indebted to them for their patience, love, and compassion. Please keep the caregivers in your thoughts – they are angels.

Janice was born on March 21, 1943 Southgate, MI the daughter of Mario and Dora (DaPra) Tremonti.  She grew up in Southgate and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  On April 17, 1965 she married Edward C. Reeves, Sr. in Southgate.
Ed and Jan moved to East Jordan on Lake Charlevoix and started their business “Ed’s Electric” in the spring of 1976 and Jan helped run for over thirty years; Jan was a wife, mother and confidante.
Jan love cooking and was passionate about the Boyne City Garden Club after she was widowed.
She is survived by her son Ed Reeves Jr. and his fiancée Tanya Estelle of Elmira, MI; sister Christina Kotula of New Port Beach, CA; brother and sister-in-law Al and Judy Reeves of Walloon; sister-in-law Dolores Melnick of Riverview, MI along with various nieces and nephews.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents Mario Tremonti and Dora DaPra / Kotula and husband Ed Reeves, Sr.

Glen Williams - November 30, 1928 - February 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Glen Williams (93), educator, leader, naturalist, loving father and husband, passed away on February 20th.  Glen was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. He went into the Marine Corps in 1946, stationed in China. His college years were interrupted when he served in the Korean War. Afterward, he returned to CMU, finished his bachelor’s degree and met a young college professor, Marilyn Swearingen, who later became his wife. They married in 1954 and had 3 children.  He spent most of his adult life in Ann Arbor where he received his MA in Education from the University of Michigan. He worked for the University of Michigan Alumni Association from 1963 until his retirement in 1994.  He enjoyed 33 years being the UM arena hockey announcer, as well as 14 years as the announcer for UM women’s field hockey. He retired to Boyne City in 2002.  He travelled all over the world and visited every continent, except Australia.
A significant portion of his life was spent as Camp Director and Program Director for Camp Michigania on Walloon Lake, from 1963 through 1994. He delighted audiences with his amazing Irish tenor voice, his original hilarious poetry, bird hikes, and astronomy talks. The programs he designed are still being used today, not only at Camp Michigania, but at alumni camps around the country. He enjoyed the out-of-doors (bird watching, bow hunting, and fishing) and writing haiku.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Williams; his sister, Darice Louise McCllelland, his children: Kristie (Jeff) Bach, Brian (Valerie) Williams, Craig (Mary) Williams; his grandchildren: Jacob (Erica) Bach, Hannah (Dan) DiGiacomo; Kinsley Williams, Kallan Williams, Kathleen Johnson (Robert Wood), Jennifer (Bill) Casper; and great-grandchildren Kaylin Casper, Ben Casper, Emilia DiGiacomo, Milo DiGiacomo, and Jackson Bach.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022 at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City.

He loved deeply and led with genuine humility.  He was a man that you would notice coming into a room because of his stature, but he captured your attention with his demeanor.  Myron was a Godly gentle giant, approachable, transparent and kind.  Always quick with a smile and an encouraging word.  He will be deeply missed by his wife DeAnn (Garthe) Spaay; his son AJ (Britney) Spaay and children Riggson, Oaklund, Chase and Brielle; his daughter Whitney (Matthew) Skop and children Jackson, Cami, and Trapper.  He is also survived by his brother, David (Tammy) Spaay and his sister, Nancy (Spaay) Lauzun, and many nieces and nephews.  The grandchildren will especially miss their “Grandpaw” who adored them all and played a very active role in their lives.

Margaret was born in Newberry, MI on September 5, 1930 to Emma Eddy and Edward Carney.
Moving to Boyne City at a young age where she was a lifelong resident. She met and married Paul Anzell who proceeds her in death. Together they had three daughters; Pam (Jerry) Cosier, Kathy Anzell and Diane Posch (Lenny Ferry); seven grandchildren Heather (Jeff) Borst, Jason Winowiecki, Dustin Cosier, Evan Chappuies, Chad (Tabetha) Cosier, Matthew (Courtney) Chappuies and Austin Pike; thirteen great grandchildren; sister Carole (Ben) Hill; brother Gilbert (Jennifer) Lindsay.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one sister. Margaret loved to tend to her flowers, play cards, bake chocolate chip cookies and visit with family and friends. Her favorites were having a cold glass of Pepsi and a nice roll!
A graveside service and memorial is planned for spring.

Theron was born in Grand Ledge, MI on April 17, 1930 to James Arther and Laura Marqurite.  He grew up in the Elmira area.
He married the love of his life, Lois Jean Tarket in 1951.  They went on to have nine children David Teron (Erna), Charles James (Karol), Thomas Edward (Kathy), Linda Jean (Ray), Patricia Marie (Thomas), Douglas Alan (Janine), Karen Annette, Stephen Paul (Terri), Ronald Wayne (Kim).
He is preceded in death by his daughter Karen Annette and son Charles James.
Aside from his children he leaves behind twenty grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren.
Theron was a hardworking man his whole life; he loved the Lord, his wife of seventy years and all of his children selflessly.  A man measured in success by the family legacy he left behind.  He will be missed and remembered.

Along with her two older brothers, Frank & Warren Keller (deceased), Bessie was raised on a little farm outside of Petoskey, Michigan, near the Pickerel Lake area where she attended and graduated from Petoskey schools.
She met her husband of 24 years, Paul O Drewanz (deceased), with whom she raised their two beautiful daughters: Cheryl Carey (Kevin) and Kimberly Coates (Roger).
Bessie remained in the Bay Shore area, living out the rest of her life with her devoted partner Jerry Sadowski, for 25 years.
She has three grandson’s whom she loved dearly: Kaden, Jacob, and Carter.
Bessie was known for her great sense of humor, warm smile and her infectious laugh, throwing in a cute little wink to brighten your spirits. She enjoyed playing in the yard, gardening, bird watching, crafting, bonfires, good ol’ country music, as well as a great trail ride and hanging out with her family.
Bessie’s bubbly personality was welcoming to her customers, who she treated like family.  Just recently retired, she worked behind a deli counter for 27 years at 2 locations, Petoskey Glen’s and Boyne City’s Family Fare.
She will be greatly missed. A memorial luncheon will be held with a date TBD. She will be buried among the spring flowers next to her mother at Curtis Cemetery, Springvale Township.

She is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Pike and brother, Lary Ennes.
Born on May 16, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan, Sherryl graduated from Flint Central High School in 1959 and earned an associate’s degree from Mott Community College in 1961. She was married to her devoted husband Robert on Oct. 13, 1963 in Clio, Michigan. The two made their home and raised their sons in Mt. Morris Township, enjoying the camaraderie of Robert’s extended family, who lived nearby and owned and operated Wolcott Orchards. Sherryl worked as a vacuum salesperson for Kirby Co., in clothing sales at Smith-Brigman’s in Flint, and for many years sold Avon products. She was an active member of Parkland Presbyterian Church in Flint and the Flint Antique Club, where she also played Bunco with members.
In 1993, Sherryl and Robert retired to Boyne City, Michigan, where she enjoyed walking, crafting, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, raising the many flowering plants surrounding her home and was a member of the Boyne City Garden Club, serving as vice president for a term. Her favorite summer pastimes were “Stroll the Streets” in Boyne City every Friday and camping for weeks at a time at Wilderness State Park. She also enjoyed her church, First Presbyterian in Boyne City, and reading the Bible.

Donald Lee Laurie - October 31, 1935 - January 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Donald Lee Laurie, Age 86, of Walloon Lake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 30th, 2022.  Don was born on the family farm in Walloon Lake Michigan on October 31st, 1935.  He was the youngest of four, two brothers and one sister.  He was enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18, stationed in Fort Worth Texas as part of the Canine Division.  He spent four years active duty and four years in the reserves.
His wife and best friend, Ellen (Dunlop) Laurie married on May 26th, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas.  After leaving Fort Worth, he was trained in Detroit Michigan as a certified butcher.  He returned to the family farm, obtaining employment as a butcher at the Boyne City A&P, while additionally being a member of the FFA and maintained a herd of Holstein dairy cows.
After exiting the cattle industry, he began his career as a cross county truck driver in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Missing the farm, he returned with his family from Wisconsin and drove truck for Perry Oil in Boyne City.  Later Don went to work for Waggoner Transport, in both the Upper and Lower Michigan Peninsulas, hauling fuel.  He would retire from Waggoner Transport after a full career.  Driving truck provided Don and Ellen a love for the open road which they shared with their family on vacations throughout the US.
Being an avid horseman, he imparted this passion of horses to his children by spending many hours in the saddle with them.  As a family they established the Trails End Riding Stable, were involved in the 4H group, Range Riders and Northwestern Barrel Benders horse shows.  Furthermore, Don and daughter Tammy were later deputized with the Charlevoix County Sheriffs Mounted Division.
Don served in his church as a deacon and active member, living his beliefs daily and was an example to those he knew.  As a strong family patriarch, he overcame many obstacles in his life through his faith and belief in God.  He will be greatly missed.  Don is survived by his five children: Penny Kolarik, Tamera Meadows, Thomas Laurie, Christine Pugh, and David Laurie, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City on Saturday, February 12th at 2pm.

Many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his Dad Jerry Matelski, Brother “Little” Jerry Matelski, Grandpa Bill Matelski, and Grandparents Perry & Lila Magee.
We are going to miss him so very much. He was loved so deeply by everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 29th at 3:00 at Brent’s home on Townpump Road.
