Rebecca was born on November 12, 1941, in Chariton, IA the first born of twelve children of Walter Gordon and Leda (Askren) Maddy.  She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1959 where she was salutatorian and attended the University of Illinois and Northwestern University.  Rebecca worked as the executive director for the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers for 30 years. She had been Sheffield Homecoming queen in 1959.  Rebecca loved Chicago City Life especially  Broadway in Chicago Theater shows,  She was especially fond and proud of her sixteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Vivian Roffey, Wayne Maddy, Barb (Lee) Carper, Mary (Merwyn) Newman, Alice Maddy, Clair (Kent) Cook, and Joel Maddy; sixteen nieces and nephews, Amber Reatherford, Mike Kaufman, Tammy Poppen, Tim Kaufman, Jessica Parsons, Tina Bryant, Angie May, Tracy Grimmer, Brian Maddy, Renae Shay, Ben Newman, Sara Johnson, Emmalea Pistole, John Paul Maddy, Chastity Shreve, and Cherity Cook; and many great nieces and nephews.  Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Larry Maddy, Dale Maddy, John Maddy, and  Paul Maddy.

Obituary Preview: Wesley L. Barron died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Sheffield at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 80 years old.
Wes was born November 17, 1941 to Esther M. (Jackson) Barron and Jack M. Barron in Temple, TX. He graduated from Sheffield High School in June 1960 and went into the Air Force in July 1960 for four years. He married Beverly (Harding) Barron on July 7, 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. Wesley worked most of his working career at LTV in Hennepin. After retiring, he drove semis.
Wesley sat as a Village of Sheffield Trustee for several years. He loved being outside and spending time having coffee and talking to friends. He especially loved going to the Red Apple in Kewanee for breakfast and coffee everyday with friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Beverly. Also surviving are 7 children: Todd Barron, San Francisco, CA; Jason Barron, Sheffield; Krystal Barron, Sheffield; Diana Davis, Sheffield; Theresa Davis (Chad Overman), Swisher, IA; Jamie Bickett, Peoria; Jennifer Taylor (Adam), Kirkland, IL; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Roy Wheaton; and brothers, Harry W. Barron and John T. Barron.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 13th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield. Following the visitation the family invites you to join them for dinner and continued remembrances. The family ask that you dress casually for the visitation in honor of Wes. Following the visitation cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Friends of Strays, Princeton.

Dorothy Jane DeMay was born February 9, 1924, in Sheffield the daughter of Frank A. and Mary Josephine (Standard) DeMay.  Dorothy graduated from Sheffield High School in 1941.  On May 16, 1947, she married Wendell F. Runft in St. Patrick’s Church in Sheffield.  Wendell died on December 31, 1999.  Dorothy had been the librarian at the Sheffield Public Library for 25 years.
Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and its Altar & Rosary Society, and the Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary.  She loved her family and her faith and enjoyed, reading, and working outdoors.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne & Larry Flint, Hudson, IL, and Annette & Greg Liechty, Zionsville, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Wendell J. and Diane Runft, Lake Forest, IL; 6 grandchildren, Brian Runft, Spencer Liechty, Trevor Liechty, Jennifer (Tom) Crown, Amy (Josh) Spalding and Lindsay (Patrick) Smith; Great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Gwenavier Spalding, Addison, Abigail, and Natalie Smith; sister-in-law, Vicky DeMay, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Michael Runft, and brother Ray DeMay.

Scotty Lynn Kirkhove was born September 12, 1963, in Kewanee, IL the son of Don and Shirley (Carrington) Kirkhove.  Scotty attended Western High School in Buda, IL.  He had worked as an assembler at Pines in Kewanee for 14 years.  Scotty was a member of the Great Western Boat House Club in Peoria.  He loved fishing.
Scotty is survived by his daughter, Adrienna Ellis, Panama City, FL; his partner, Lisa McNaught, Peoria; his mother, Shirley Kirkhove, Kewanee; his brother, Don Kirkhove, Annawan; his sister, Kellie Kirkhove, Kewanee; and niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Donovan Kirkhove, Annawan.  He was preceded in death by his father, Don and a sister-in-law, Kris Kirkhove.

Robert George Smith was born February 16 1937 in Aurora, IL the son of George Washington Smith and Pauline Elizabeth (Brandt) Smith.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1962 during the Korean Conflict in the South Pacific.  Robert was a member and past Commander of American Legion Post #875, Neponset.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marsha Smith, Montgomery, IL: daughter, Sandra Day, Neponset, sons, Scott Beau and Mike Beau, and daughter Theresa Enfield.  Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, sister, Carol (Wayne) Anderson, Yorkville, IL,  He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Mary Jo Hewitt was born September 10, 1952, in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Harvey M. and Katharine M. (Spratt) Hewitt.  Mary Jo graduated from Western High School, Buda in 1971.  On June 17, 1972, she married William “Bill” Rosenow in Sheffield.  Bill died on February 1, 2017.
Mary Jo had been a cook for Western School District and Bureau Valley School District before retiring.  She was a member of the Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary.  Mary Jo was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.  She enjoyed going to the Riverboat Casinos, garage sales, shopping, and baking and she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Jill (Bronco) Farwell, San Marcos, CA, Jennifer (Troy) Smith, Normal, IL and Lisa Rosenow, Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren, Madilyn, Brady, Westin, and William “Liam” and two brothers, Jim (Willy) Hewitt, Princeton and Tim (Robin) Hewitt, Sheffield

Wendell Leigh Smith - March 18, 1935 - May 28, 2021

Obituary Preview: Wendell Leigh Smith, born March 18, 1935, passed away on May 28th 2021. He was born in Ohio, Illinois to Thomas and Gladys (McVicker) Smith. He married the love of his life, Helen Marie Giltner, on January 29th, 1955 at St. Patrick’s church in Sheffield, Illinois.   She preceded him in death.
He graduated from Sheffield High School and attended Western Illinois University before spending 4 years in the Navy and Reserves as a hospital medic. He then attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. He went on to do graduate work at the University of Iowa where he was a teaching and research assistant. Wendell also continued teaching in the Biology Department at St. Ambrose University.  He later attended Northern Illinois University and was awarded a master’s degree in 1964.
He taught at Fremd High School in Palatine, IL for two years and then Oak Park River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL for 29 years. He coached in the track and soccer programs, and after many years in men’s soccer he was asked to start the women’s soccer program. Wendell had many other accomplishments during his career at OPRF including Illinois Science Teacher of the Year, Illinois Coach of the Year for Woman’s Soccer, Coaches Hall of Fame, and initiating many academic programs like Earth Science.
Wendell and Marie loved to travel which started with camping with their children, and later in life in their motor home. They traveled to all 50 states and 6 continents where he loved jogging. He joked that he “jogged around the world”. He was happiest spending time with his family, road tripping, and giving impromptu road-side geology “classes”, watching anything Chicago sports, and eating “his” ice cream. He was very proud of his children and always bragged how successful they all were and that they were spread across the country so he and Marie could travel, site see, and visit their grandchildren and great grandchildren. At family gatherings Grandpa just loved to have his sports on TV, sit back, and take in all the family action
Wendell is survived by his six children including Loren (Janiece) Smith, Victoria (William) Iannazzi, Jeffry (Anne) Smith, Brian (Mary) Smith, Keith (Darla) Smith, and Kelly Smith. He had 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one on the way.
There will be a mass of celebration of Wendell’s life at St. Patrick’s Church in Sheffield Illinois on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Father Mark Miller will officiate.  . Interment to follow at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sheffield.

Obituary Preview: Terry Ray DeVos, 76, of Troy, AL, formerly of Sheffield and Annawan, IL was born December 31st 1944 has passed gently Sunday, January, 31st 2021.  There he joins his lovely wife Julianne 23 years later.  He is survived by all of his Children (John, Pete, Mark, Luke, Zach and Marie), Grandchildren, and Great-Grandchildren along with his Sisters.
Terry enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  His lifetime allowed him to be present in many different roles: brother, husband, farmer, father, and trucker.
Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th at the Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 339 E. Chestnut St., Sheffield, IL.  This will be followed by graveside services at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Sheffield.

Andrea Marie Specht was born on January 8, 1945 in Geneseo, IL the daughter of Harley and Margaret (Brown) Specht.  Andrea was raised in Sheffield and educated in Buda, Illinois. Graduating from Western Community Unit in 1963.  Andrea had worked as a secretary for various companies in New Orleans, LA, Denver, CO, and Collinsville, IL.
In her younger years, she loved to go camping and to cross country ski. She was a huge Elvis fan, whom she shared her birthday with.
Those surviving are her son, Troy (and Suzy) Rosenow, Gilbert, AZ and her daughter, Tracey (and Jason) Gomora, Franktown, CO;  four brothers, Robert, Alan, Dennis and David Specht and a sister, Debra Rodseth. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Sara, Savanna, James, Jacob, Shelby, Ashley Rosenow and Brooke and Cody Gomora, and a great-grandson, Oliver.   She was preceded in death by her parents.
Andrea touched the lives of many people with her smile and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Reta Jean Johnson - May 26, 1920 - December 10, 2020

Obituary Preview: Reta J. Johnson, 100, formerly of Sheffield, passed away at Liberty Village, Princeton on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
Reta was born on May 26, 1920 in Alba Township, Atkinson, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Hulslander) DeSplinter.  She married Clifford “Buzz” Johnson on December 28, 1944 in Colona, IL.  He died on September 12, 2007.
“Miss Reta” taught many students dance and tumbling in many different locations over the years.  She was known for her acrobatic groups, The Flying Jets and the Rolling “G’s” and for starting the tumbling program at the Kewanee YMCA.  She was a strict teacher but always got results.
Reta was raised in a musical family where she played the piano, her twin brother Bob played banjo, and brother Francis guitar and they performed along with tap dancing at many area programs.  Many family gatherings were enjoyed with them entertaining in their adult years.
Reta was a devout prayer warrior attending bible study for over 30 years.  She belonged to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield and was a Eucharistic Minister.  She loved being with family and friends and dancing with her husband at the Flemish Club, Kewanee on Saturday nights.  She loved cooking and sending treats to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ron) Wright, Sheffield and a son Chris (Karen Quinn) Johnson, Oceanside, CA; grandson Scott (Amy) Wright, Sheffield; great-grandchildren, Tanner Meyer Wright, Isabelle, Sam, and Emily Wright; along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, “Buzz”, grandson, Brian Wright; twin brother, Robert DeSplinter, and brother, Francis DeSplinter.
Due to covid restrictions and concerns Private Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 14th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield.  Father Mark Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield.  No visitation will be held.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield is assisting the family.  Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, St. Patrick’s Cemetery, or to Sheffield Rescue Unit.

Fredrick McMurray was born on April 16, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was raised and educated in Sheffield.  Fred worked for the Village of Sheffield for many years along with other jobs.  Fred had also been the sound man for many bands at Brother's Pub in Sheffield and had been a part of the band Windjam for several years.  Fred also enjoyed raising pigeons.
Survivors include his son, Caleb McMurray, Sheffield and his girlfriend, Roxanne Nickels, Sheffield.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Obituary Preview: Linda VanVooren, 69, of Sheffield, died on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at her home. Linda was born April 24, 1951, in Kewanee, Illinois to parents to Charles H. Frank and Lula M. Ratliff, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Thomas of Sheffield, IL; brother, Stephen (Marilyn) Frank of Bourbonnais, IL; brother, Bruce Frank of Buda, IL; brother, Russell Frank of Manlius, IL; son, Jeffrey (Gwen) VanVooren of Leawood, KS; daughter, Angela Dietz (Steven) of Seymour, IL; four grandchildren, Taylor Dietz, Kolby Dietz, Aaron VanVooren and Alissa VanVooren; and a beloved extended family.
A graduate of Western High School, Class of 1969, Linda went on to graduate from Stewards School of Cosmetology and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology from Illinois Valley Community College. Linda loved her work as the owner/operator of Linda’s Kut and Kurl Korner where she had a 25-year career making ladies beautiful. She then went on to work in the Bureau County zoning office for 12 years. She was an instrumental part of making sure the wind farm towers and all other constructions met county guidelines. Linda was a very detail-oriented person and put her whole heart into everything she did. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren as a “hands-on” grandma, usually with a camera in her hand. She had a way of making her house a home to everyone who entered and loved to decorate for the holidays. She will always be remembered as a creative, caring person which is evident in the way she cared for her countless plants and her flower garden. She was also a gifted painter, whether it was ceramics or a canvas painting class. Linda impacted the lives of so many, especially her family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield.  Father Mark Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield.  A visitation will be held, Wednesday, September 30, from 4-7 P.M. at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services in Sheffield, and additional visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  Memorials may be made to Linda VanVooren Memorial Fund.

John had worked at I H in East Moline for 10 years and then drove trucks for several companies including A.G Trucking from which he retired in 2010.  John loved fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Angie (Mark) Middleton, East Peoria; a daughter-in-law, Tabatha Thomas, Mineral; three grandchildren, Heaven Bennett, Ethen Thomas, and Madisen Thomas, and a sister, Linda Specht, Princeton, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Scott Thomas.

Obituary Preview: Kaye Maureen Scott, 83, of Sheffield passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on 24 May 2020 with family by her side.
She was born 28 August 1936, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Monroe and Esther Cogger. A life-long member of First United Church of Christ (Sheffield), Kaye graduated from Sheffield High School (Class of ’54), matriculated with honors from Bradley University, and retired from the Bradford School district after twenty-five years teaching and enjoying her elementary students.
Marrying the love of her life — Darrell Scott — at age nineteen, Kaye learned how to farm (twenty-two years) and enjoyed dancing, traveling, knitting, crocheting, family, laughing with friends, and reading. Her hometown held a special place in her heart; she spent a lifetime enjoying its interwoven fabric of hearts and minds working together, sharing good times and bad while lending support for one another. She spent the last years of her life journaling this experience, collecting family photographs, and recording genealogy.
Parents Esther and Monroe “Bud” Cogger, brother Bill Cogger, Husband, Darrell, and son James Scott proceeded her in death.
Kaye is survived by her son and daughter-in-law (Michael and Lana Scott), grandson and wife (Andrew Scott and Tori Cox), sister (JoAnn Bohm),  nephews (Danny and David Bohm and Greg and Tom Bledsoe), nieces (Lori Werkau and Sue Bledsoe Petska) and many great-nephews and nieces whom she loved and admired.
Memorial service will be held at 2;00 p.m., on Sunday, June 28th at First United Church of Christ, Sheffield.  Rev. Gordon Lee Minnaert was born January 25, 1954 in Kewanee, IL the son of DeWayne and Ellen Louise (Nutter) Minnaert.  He graduated from Western High School in 1973.  Gordon had served as the Sheffield Police Officer for several years.  He also had served on the Fire Department.  For many years he had been a custodian and drove school bus for Bureau Valley Schools.
Gordon was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan.  He loved to go for rides in his Packer’s Golf Cart.  He especially loved his two granddaughters very very much.

Judith Gorey was born December 30, 1940 in Vermont, IL the daughter of David D. and Anna L. (Burgett) Gorey.  She married Alonzo “Lonnie” Turner, Jr. on Jan. 15, 1961 in Kewanee, IL.  He died on March 24, 2017.  Judy had worked as a waitress for many years at the Sauk Trail/Fort Annawan until its closing.  She had later worked at Ace Hardware Distribution in Princeton until her retirement.
Judy was a member of Mineral United Methodist Church.  She was also an avid runner having run many marathons up into her 60’s.  Judy had a great love for her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana (Jarrod) Loerzel, Germantown, MD; Michele Turner-Scott (Jay Scott), Neponset and Becky (Brett) Gibson, Sheffield; a son, Alonzo C. Turner III, (Jeffrey Johnson), Berwyn, IL; seven grandchildren, Kristopher, Kelli, Justin, Emali, Adam, Corrine, and Kenneth; eight great-grandchildren, Damon, Gavin, Haily, Zoey, Owen, Nolan, Parker, and Charlotte.  Also surviving are five sisters, Nancy Payne, El Cajon, CA, Shirley Kuster, Sheffield, Patti (Pat) Mirocha, Davenport, IA, Sharon (Bob) DeWitt, Bettendorf, IA, and Janice (Wes) Bengtson, Davenport, IA; brothers, David (Alice) Gorey, Kewanee, John Gorey, Galesburg, and Joe (Lynn) Gorey, Christopher, IL; and a sister-in-law, Muriel “Bootsie” (Dean) Schaefer, Urbana, Ohio; along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Her parents, her husband, and her beloved sister, Beverly Hensley preceded her in death.

Harley Burdette Barton was born September 15, 1922, in rural Sheffield, the son of Harry L. and Julia H. (Olsen) Barton.  He graduated from Sheffield High School.  On Feb 22, 1948, he married Yvonne Stevenson in Sheffield.  She died on January 22, 2007.  Harley had farmed all of his life in the Sheffield area until retiring.  He also drove a school bus for Western School District and later Bureau Valley School District.  Harley served as an EMT with Sheffield Rescue Unit for many years.
Memberships include the Sheffield United Methodist Church, Sheffield Lions Club, Manlius Sportsman’s Club, the Masons, and he had served on the Sheffield Village Board for a number of years.  Harley was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying for many years.  Other hobbies he enjoyed were bowling, golfing in later years, and dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline (fiancé, Jack May) Neahring, Princeton, and Wendy (Mike) Melhouse, Kewanee; two sons, Stephen (Julie Thurwanger) Barton, Sheffield, and Gail (Janelle) Barton, Wyanet; nine grandchildren, Paula, Mike, Stephen Jr., Catrina, Nicole, Melissa, Ashley, Taylor, and Brandon; four step grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Aricka, and Amanda; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Other survivors include a brother, Harry “Babe” (Beverly) Barton, Sheffield, and brother-in-law, Kenny Riggs, Sheffield.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Lois Smith and Gladys Riggs; a brother, Kenneth Barton; and infant brother and sister, Raymond and Shirley.

Obituary Preview: Patricia K. “Pat” Gebeck, 79, of rural Buda, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.
Patricia Kay Nelson was born on November 12, 1939 in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Roger and Ruth (Sarver) Nelson.  She graduated from Princeton High School in 1957. While in high school, Patricia had been a Homecoming Queen, a cheerleader, and a member of the jazz band, where she played the saxophone.  She continued to show her love and pride for PHS by organizing floats for the Homestead parade. Her class of 1957 won the Grand Marshal Award in 2012 with their 50’s themed float.
Patricia married Frank Gebeck, on December 18, 1960, at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, IL.
Patricia graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, IL with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  She began preparing tax returns in 1970.  She became a certified public accountant in 1982.  She built her own business, Patricia Nelson Gebeck, CPA. She was very dedicated and committed to her clients for 49 years. She would always go the extra mile for them. She enjoyed and had pride in having her son, Charles, work alongside of her.
Patricia was an active member of the Sheffield, Buda, and Princeton Communities. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Sheffield, Eastern Star, Princeton Chamber of Commerce, as well as many professional associations.  She had served on Western School District board for 18 years and served as President from 1993 until 1995.  She had also served on the Regional School District board.
Patricia cherished family. She was the mother of the Rolling G’s family tumbling act in the 70’s.  She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and music events.  She would be found sitting in the bleachers keeping her own stats, often comparing her stats with the official scorer.  She was an overall sports fan with a big love for NCAA Basketball.  She had a gift of keeping traditions alive, hosting holidays and entertaining in her home.  She and all of her grandchildren treasured their annual shopping trip and spending time together. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. She was a strong woman with a competitive spirit, but most of all, she had a very generous heart.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Frank; sons, Charles Gebeck of Princeton and William Gebeck of Buda; daughters, Angella Hughes of Princeton, Melissa (Mark) Warzecha of Geneva, Jennifer (fiancée, Robert Vaessen) Gebeck of Gurnee, and Katherine (Michael) Pratt of Neponset. Also surviving are grandchildren, Frank Gebeck II,, Danielle and Rebecca Hughes, Marissa Warzecha, and, Hannah, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Ryan Pratt; great grandchild, Lorelle; sister Nancy (Marvin) Frank, Peru, IL, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15th at First United Church of Christ, Sheffield.  Rev. Martin Nussbaum and Gaile Arnold will officiate, and the burial will be held at the Sheffield Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Patricia Nelson Gebeck Memorial Fund.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marshall was born on April 7, 1931 in Mineral, the son of Marion Errold and Martha Mabel (Davidson) Lyon.  He graduated from Mineral High School in 1949, and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.  He married Joan Marie Mills on January 21, 1951 in Mineral, IL.  She preceded him in death on March 3, 2009.
Marshall owned and operated EB Lyons & Sons in Mineral, and served as the Mineral Township supervisor until 1998.  He also was a real estate and insurance agent.  Marshall also served as the Mineral Township clerk.  He was a founding member of the Mineral Gold Library, a member of Mineral United Methodist Church, and attended Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  He served as Village Water Commissioner for many years.  Marshall was very talented in many ways and even built his own home.
Survivors include his children, Linda (John) Carlson, Mineral, Thomas Lyon, Mineral, and Kathy (John) Tank, Geneseo; eight grandchildren, Alicia (David) Brown, Michael (Jeannie) Carlson, Melanie Stabler, Amber (Matt) Williamsen, Bryan Tank, Brianna (Geoff) Aper, Deanna Lyman, and David (Samantha) Lyon; and twenty-one great grandchildren. (Christian) Morman, Sr.  He was raised and educated in Sheffield and graduated from Sheffield High School in 1960.  He graduated from University of Illinois, Champaign in 1964.  He married Alice E. Sturtewagen on Sept. 29, 1962 in Atkinson, IL.
Raymond worked for Oscar Mayer in Seaton, IL as a livestock buyer for 10 years then worked at Oscar Mayer plant in Davenport, IA as a meat inspector in the tunnel.  Raymond started farming in the Sheffield/Manlius area in 1979.  He farmed for 33 years before retiring in 2011.

Terry was born April 20, 1948 in Kewanee, IL the son of Herbert C. and Shirley M. (Holman) Pierson.  He graduated from Annawan High School in 1966.  He attended Valparaiso University then graduated from Massey Junior College in Atlanta Ga. Studying interior design.
After college he worked in interior design in Atlanta, Ga, He then worked in the furniture business in Chattanooga, TN.  Following that he then owned and operated “Pierson’s Restaurant” in Marion, IL.   He then returned to Atlanta and worked for Rachel Conway at House Parts, Inc. until his retirement.  He traveled worldwide purchasing for House Parts Inc.  Upon retirement he returned to the Sheffield area.
He was a proud member of Beard Team USA.  Where he traveled worldwide competing in beard competitions. He was an excellent cook.  He also enjoyed gardening.
Survived by his sister, Cindy (Rick)  Ganschow, Sheffield; brother, Tim Pierson and his significant other Christy Rees, Sheffield; nieces and nephews, Scott (Meghan)  Ganschow, West Burlington, IA, Shannon (Jaime) Ganschow, Normal, IL, Tyler (LaNette) Pierson, Perkins, OK, Kari (Terry) Hepner, Monmouth, IL and Kati (Matt) Grimes, Mineral, IL;&  16 great nieces and nephews; his uncle and aunt, Delbert & Joanne Holman, Champaign, IL and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gary Pierson.

Gerald Morris Foes was born August 4, 1943 in Kewanee, IL the son of Morris E. “Morry” Foes and Laura F. Rakestraw.  He was raised and educated in Mineral area graduating from Mineral High School in 1961.  He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1962 to 1973 working as a mechanic on jet engines.  On January 15, 1965 he married Mildred Witte in Arlington, VA.  The couple returned to the Sheffield area in 1973 where they farmed in rural Sheffield.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield.  He was passionate about farming and airplanes.  He was an avid sports fan and had a great love for History.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Cristy (John) Stupegia, Oglesby, IL, and Cathy (Joel) Soto, McHenry, IL; a son, Daniel Gerald (Bridget) Foes, Princeton; five grandchildren, Ben Stupegia, Tianny Soto, Braeden Soto, Grant Foes, and Morgan Foes; brother, Tom (Cynthia) Foes, Annawan; sisters, Joyce (Raymond) Dixon, Peoria, Marlene (Thomas) Etheridge, Princeton, and Connie (Thomas) Jaggers, Manlius.  He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother.

Obituary Preview: CLARENDON HILLS — Norma J. Berfield, 93, formerly of Sheffield, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at Hinsdale Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born April 26, 1925, in Wyoming, Ill., to Clinton Artemus and Katie Scott Dixon. She was raised in Wyoming and graduated from Wyoming High School. She married Charles M. Berfield of Toulon on Dec. 29, 1945.
The early years of their marriage were spent in Hawaii and Texas. In the early 1950’s, they settled in Sheffield, where they raised four children and ran a medical practice. Norma's career as an administrative assistant spanned many decades. She worked at Jostens in Princeton and Paxall in Chicago. Norma was an integral part in the formation, launch and management of the Wentcher Foundation, where she worked until the age of 90. Ernie Wentcher was blessed to have Norma as his executive assistant for 22 years and, more importantly, his friend. Norma’s talented and conscientious management of Ernie’s business and financial ventures gave Ernie confidence and peace. Norma faced adversity in a calm and dignified manner. She was blessed with excellent health and a sharp mind all of her life.
Surviving are three children, Margo Maurer of Clarendon Hills, Scott (Mary) Berfield of Woodinville, Wash., and Brian (Tanya) Berfield of Milton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Nathan (Jen) Maurer of Woodridge, Benjamin E. Berfield of Chattanooga, Tenn., Marisa Ann Berfield of Roswell, Ga., and Katherine Frances Berfield of Seattle, Wash.; one niece, Karen (Wayne) Wallace of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two nephews, Kent (Melody) Stafford of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Kevin (Marian) Stafford of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley; and a son, Brent.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield, IL.  Rev.
