Due to Covid, graveside services only will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at Holly Grove Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. with the Dr. Benjamin Quinn and Minister Kevin Connor officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Baylus Cade and Ethel Strickland Wood; sisters, Kiva McCarroll and Naomi Long.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Mary Leigh Edwards Wood; daughter, Barbara Boykin (Mark) of Bailey; sons, Bobby Wood (Cathy) of Spring Hope, Charles Wood of Spring Hope; grandchildren, Brian Wood (Corie), Jeromy Wood (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Blair, Blake, Cade, and Addie Grace Wood; sisters, Rosemary Weant of High Point, NC, Joyce Ham of Wilson, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his special care givers, Lynn Hicks and Darlene Lopez, and a special thanks to Kelly Parker and her hospice team for special care during his last days.

Zebulon – Sandra (Sandi/Honey) H. Pierce, 80, passed away Saturday morning January 22nd in the comfort of her home.
In her early years, Sandra had a long career in the Nursing field working with Geriatrics.  She also had a passion for Art, Singing & Theater, and a big love for animals.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday January 29th at 1pm at Spring Hope Funeral Home, Spring Hope, NC.  A visitation with the family will immediately follow the memorial service.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons: Nikki Perry (John Edwards) of Zebulon, Susan Walls (Elmo) of Wilson, Tarla Howard (Darrin) of Emerald Isle, Robert Ezzell of Morehead City and Ronnie Ezzell (Gail) of Spring Hope; her sister, Deborah Dee King of Coral Bay, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 at Handy Brantly Cemetery 6466 Hwy 97 West, Spring Hope, NC at 11:00 a.m.

Middlesex….Clinton Lewis Whitley, age 46, left this world when Jesus called him away on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Clinton had a brand new change of address notification. He has a new home Jesus prepared just for him to live forever with him in Heaven.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of fourteen years, Sandy Black Whitley; his wonderful parents, Jerry and Agnes Denton Whitley; two beautiful sisters and brothers in love, Sandra and Roger Morris, Amy and James Lee; two fantastic nephews, Jimmy Lee and Jeremy Morris; stepson, Brandon Lynch; special brother, Scott Lynch; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clinton left an entire brotherhood of fine Firefighters of whom he was so proud to stand beside each one of and his home away from home, Lucky Station 13 for nearly thirty five years.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Clinton`s Birthday on November 11, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Union Hope Baptist Church 12717 NC Hwy 97, Zebulon NC 27597. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.
In lieu of floral tributes please consider a tribute to the Ferrells Fire Rescue Building Fund.

Born in Franklin County on October 19, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Bennett and Edna Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Horace C. Moody; daughter, Dale Moody Harper; brothers, Robert Lee, Horace, Bennett (Bud), Maynard (Pete), John, Gerald (Jimmy) Jones and Douglas Seymour; sisters, Annie Burgess, Evelyn Bray, Mamie Bailes, and Laura Faye Jeans.
She worked at K&R Sportswear as a head supervisor for 26 years. She was a good mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always had time for friends. She was a long time member of Holly Grove Baptist Church since 1952. She enjoyed teaching the small children at the church for 28 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her flowers and bushes. She loved baskets of all shapes and sizes.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her daughters; Sharon Reams and Jill Moody; grandchildren, Lori Brooks and Jami Reams; great-grandchildren, Jaden Brooks and Tyler Brooks; brothers, Ronnie Jones (Joan), Edgar Jones (Brenda); sisters Alice Jones and Anita Privette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Bunn Cemetery with Dr. Benjamin Quinn and Pastor Josh Puryear officiating.

Matthew was born May 11, 1986 in Rocky Mount, NC.  He is the son or Amy Dickens Evans of Bailey and   Mark Alan Evans (Ronette Evans) of Picayune, Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by: Paternal Grandfather, Lawrence Evans, Paternal Grandmother, Joyce Evans, Maternal Grandfather, William Curtis Dickens and Maternal Grandmother, Lottie Lou Dickens.
Matthew is survived by, in addition of his parents, an older brother, Daniel Evans of Pearl River, LA. ; his fiancé, Savannah Tedesco, a 9 year old daughter, Samantha Clare Evans and 7 year old son, Wyatt Alan Evans, both of Wilson and nephew Luke Evans of Picayune, MS.  He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Matthew attended Spring Hope and Spaulding Elementary School in his youth.  He is an alumni of Southern Nash High School, Bailey, NC.  Matthew also served in the United States Coast Guard.
He enjoyed being a father and spending time with his two children.  Matthew loved fishing and gaming.  He was as avid Tar Heel fan.

SPRING HOPE……………..Jean Womble, age 85, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born in Trenton, New Jersey but made her way down south as fast as she could.  She married her high school sweetheart and followed him to California before returning to Spring Hope.  She worked for thirty years at Nash County Department of Social Services where she truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve others. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church, she served in many positions including deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and her most cherished role as the children’s choir director.  After retirement she faithfully volunteered at Spring Hope Elementary and Faith Christian Ministries, served Meals on Wheels, and helped lead weekly services at Greentree Apartments.  She loved going on bus trips, traveling with her dear friends Earl and Sarah Purkerson, and excursions to the beach.  “Yaya” as she was lovingly known, always enjoyed cheering her grandchildren on from the sidelines.
Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lewis Heflin and Minnie Wilder Heflin.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 66 years, Joseph Charles “JC” Womble of the home: a devoted daughter, Amy Jo Parker and husband Stuart; two grandchildren; Tori P. Whitley and husband Clay, and Kendall Parker and wife Whitney; two great-grand dogs, Maverick and Cannon.  She also loved the many animals she and JC had over the years, including Clyde and Mattie.
A graveside service will be Saturday, December 5th, 1:00 pm at Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope with Rev. Greg Anderson and Dr. Kevin Moore officiating.  Visitation will follow the service at graveside and other times at the home of Amy and Stuart Parker.  Everyone is asked to follow social distancing guidelines including wearing a mask.

Upon returning home, he married his sweetheart, Geraldine Guy in 1954.  He graduated from Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College in Wilson, NC, with a  Business Degree.  He attended graduate school at UNC-CH.  He worked with the State of NC for over thirty years, first as an Admissions Counselor at the Richard T. Fountain Training School in Rocky Mount and for the state office in Raleigh, NC.   Glen loved spending time with his family and grandkids.  He enjoyed playing golf and cards and visiting his vacation home in Myrtle Beach.
Glen leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Edwards of the home, three sons; Allen Edwards (Corinne) of Venice Beach, California, Keith Edwards (Karyn) of Raleigh, Randy Edwards (Vera) of Columbus, Ohio and two daughters; Tammy E. Stoker (Barry) of Raleigh and Laura Denise Edwards of Raleigh. He also leaves nine grandchildren; Mitchell Edwards, Lydia Edwards (Andrew), Travis Stoker, Alex Edwards, Laura Edwards, Eric Stoker, Liam Edwards, Kathryn Edwards and Christina Edwards.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Holly Grove Baptist Church, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Connor officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow at church cemetery.

Ivenia W. Hathaway - August 09, 1928 - September 05, 2020

Obituary Preview: RALEIGH………Ivenia W. Hathaway passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020 at Transitions Life Care of Wake County.
She was the daughter of Cleveland and Zula Wells of Wilson County.  She married Charles Hathaway of Spring Hope in 1962 and had 56 years of a great marriage filled with love.  Ivenia and Charles entered many ventures together, including the opening of a ladies dress shop in Spring Hope named Chartells.  Later on as he moved up the ladder with Farm Bureau Insurance Company, they moved to Raleigh where Charles became the State Sales Manager.  After a short stent in Raleigh, he was promoted to Sales Manager of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company in Jackson, MS.  They lived in Jackson for approximately 18 years and eventually became CEO of the company.  They retired in 1998 and moved back to Raleigh, NC to spend the later years near their family.  Charles passed away in 2019 and Ivenia joined him on September 5, 2020.  God has blessed both of them.
A private graveside service will be held for Ivenia in Spring Hope and we hope to celebrate her long and happy life with a memorial service at a later date.
Ivenia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Linda and her son, Mike.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Willis Lamm , daughter-in-law Lucy Lamm, and a sister, Betty Barnes.  She also leaves four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Noreen Wainiana for all the care she gave Ivenia for the last seven years.
The family will receive friends at the home of Willis and Lucy Lamm, 1333 Wakefield Farm Road, Zebulon, NC 27597.
