From this union Dean not only gained a lifelong partner but also two children, Janie and Kenny, who he loved as his own children. They would later expand their family and welcome their daughter Angela.
Over the years, Dean and Kathy called many towns across several states their home and developed many lasting friendships along the way. He spent most of his career in agriculture, working in and managing grain elevators in the Dakotas. Of all the places he moved to he always found his way back to Turton, SD and was grateful for the years of friendship and community.
Dean never shied away from trying new things; he enjoyed gardening, cooking and was most recently a self-proclaimed “bee whisperer”. He also loved to travel, logging many miles over the years to hunt and fish, as well as many trips to see family and friends. His grandchildren brought him his greatest joy.
Despite his sometimes tough exterior, Dean had the biggest heart and was generous beyond measure. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Dean is survived by his wife Kathy of 47 years, three children Janie (Jeff) Skonseng of Fergus Falls, MN; Kenny (Darla) Coleman of Lisbon, ND; and Angela Huffman of Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren Payton Skonseng, Dalton Skonseng, Ashley Skonseng, Chance (Rachelle DeMary) Coleman, Maverick (Alexandra Catalano) Coleman, Koda Huffman; great-grandchildren Gracelynn and Journee Coleman and Vander Skonseng. His brother Jim (Theresa) Fields of Valley City, ND; and sister Becky (Jim) Sorby of Fort Ransom, ND; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Departed: 04/14/2024 (Aberdeen)
Obituary Preview: Stetson Dean Bierman was born on February 9th, 2024 at 6:17pm to Brennen Bierman and Marlee Tollifson. Stetson was baptized on April 6th and enjoyed tagging along to New Life Church with his Mom and Dad. A child of God, he was received into the arms of Jesus on April 14th.
Though he was only here for a short time, Stets had an immense impact on all who knew him. Our Stetsy Poo loved to nap with his mom and dad. He could poop in only a way Stetson could, and he was always sure to pee all over mom and spit-up all over dad. He also enjoyed going for car rides- a sure way to get Stetsy to take a nap. Stetson loved watching Coco-melon and dancing fruit with his aunts and uncles. Stetsy was an all-star cuddler and could always be made to give a cheesy grin and soul lifting giggle. Stetson was able to make so many memories in his short time here, but we couldn’t be more grateful for the time we had.
Stetson was and always will be perfect. His brief little life a lasting gift to all those who survive him. Grateful for sharing Stetson’s precious time here are his parents, Marlee Tollifson and Brennen Bierman; Grandparents: Travis and Debbie Kurth, Matt and Lana Tollifson, William and Ashley Lopes, and Derek Bierman; Great Grandparents, Wayne and Patty Hein, Dale Kurth, Brenda Watkins, Steve and Tina Tollifson, Chris and Linda Gross, Todd and Crystal Schaffer, Sherri Bierman and Mike Wiltfang, Lynn Bierman and Sandy Bertsch, Lynn and Beth Lopes; Great-Great Grandparents, Lucille Tollifson, Jerry and Scheri Smith, Jean Schaffer, Alline Heidenreich; Aunts and Uncles, Cali Tollifson, Boston and Laken Kurth, Chris Tveit, Cymbria Victor, Mason Lopes, DeAngelo Guhin, Keahilani Lopes, Caiden Crowe, Kiya Bierman, Ophelia Sobeski and several Great Aunts and Uncles, and cousins. Obituary Preview: Debra Shirley Haas died peacefully, surrounded by close family members drinking red beers and laughing at old photographs on March 28th, 2024.
Born in Grenville, SD, “Little Debbie” was the second youngest in a family of 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Deb went to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Grenville, SD, where she especially loved Sister Nerina’s baking. She then attended Webster Public High School in Webster, SD, from which she graduated in 1974. Deb eventually made her way to Aberdeen where she made several close friends and raised her children.
Deb was accepting of everyone and would make you feel like family within moments inside her house. She was an incredibly hard worker, never once thinking she couldn’t accomplish something challenging.
Deb was seen by her children as the most selfless person on the planet. You had to be careful telling her you admired a shirt she was wearing or you’d find it in a box mailed to you the next month. Always willing to help, she was giving of herself her whole life. Deb loved being able to run around with her grandkids, Avery and Wren. She was also a masterful back scratcher. You’d rarely not find a daughter or granddaughter sitting on her lap asking her to “tickle their back.” A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent to 107 8th Ave SW Aberdeen, SD 57401
If Deb’s generosity touched your life in any way please consider making a donation to the Aberdeen Pink Ladies (415 North 4th Street Aberdeen SD 57401) or adopting a pet from the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.
Ready to greet Deb in the next life are her parents, Mary and Harry Gruba, her brothers David, Johnny, and Adam Gruba, and her sisters Susan Harty and Linda Larson.
