She was born August 25, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA to her late parents Frank and Cecelia (Flis) Guenther. She was the wife of George T Phillips since their marriage on May 26, 1973; mother of Robert (Karen) Christine, and Melissa (Matthew); grandmother of seven grandchildren Shad (Megan), Brad (Kayla), Robert, Mike, Kylie (Colby), Nathan, and Andrew; and great grandmother of Graison and Holland. She had hopes to meet the newest great granddaughter twins (Harley and Harper) that are due in May. She had many talents and a huge heart. She worked for Hampton Township School District as a cook for 27 years and retired from there in 2009. For a short time, she enjoyed retirement with her husband, kids, grandkids, and other family members by going on vacations and spending quality time together. However, she wasn’t done working yet. In 2014 she started working as a bus monitor for Valley Lines in Butler. She made many friends and loved the kids and their families that she got to work with. Elaine was an amazing woman, wife, mother, Nana and friend. No one knows why bad things happen to the best of people and we may never know. She was called home to be reunited with her parents, siblings, and friends she lost along the way. She will be deeply missed but not forgotten, forever. Obituary Preview: Joan Ann Gonzalez, 87, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her four children and several of her ten grandchildren, on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Anthology of McCandless Senior Living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was born on February 20, 1935, in Manhattan, New York to the late Thomas John Carroll and Edith (Secker) Carroll and was the third of eight children. Upon graduation from high school, Joan became an Executive Assistant and worked in the Empire State Building for a global trading company until she met and married her husband, Dr. Joseph I. Gonzalez. They were married for 60 years until his passing in July 2019. She was a devoted wife, partner, mother, and grandmother, and her passions were her family, tennis, the beach, needlework, painting, and volunteer work. Joan is survived by her two sons David Gonzalez of Orlando, FL, and Daniel (Michelle) Gonzalez of Columbus, OH; her two daughters Diana (James) Falconi of Sewickley, PA, and Donna (Charles) Homolka of Ft. Myers, FL; and her adoring ten grandchildren James, Joseph, John (Michelle), Nicholas, David, Danielle, Lauren, Bobby, Alex, and Matthew. She is also survived by one sister, Catherine Young, of New York. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held privately in South Carolina at a future date. Obituary Preview: James H. Smith, Sr, 76, passed away on April 14, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  He was born August 18, 1945, in Butler, PA, the son of the late Harvey & Dorothy (Piper) Smith.
James worked at Pullman Standard from 1964 to 1982.  Following his tenure at Pullman Standard, James owned his own auto body garage until he retired.  He married the love of his life, Donna Davidson, on December 10, 1963, in Butler, PA.  They celebrated 58 years of marriage in December 2021.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Herb and two sisters, Pauline and Sue.  He is survived by his wife Donna (Davidson) Smith, sons James H. Smith, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Joplin, MO; Jeffrey Smith and his wife Carol of Butler; Jay Smith and his wife Sharon of New Wilmington; and daughter Terri McAllister and her husband Richard of Butler.  His sisters, MaryAnn McCandless of Butler and Pearl Cranmer and her husband Lloyd of Butler; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: James B. “Jim” Cochran, 55, passed away April 4th, 2022 at his home.  He was born May 11, 1966 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of Warren and Olga Cochran.  After graduating from Butler High School in 1984, Jim enlisted in the army where he worked as an armor crewman with an M-1 Abrams Main Battle Tank stationed with the 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood Texas.  He was also selected for a one year special assignment with the 1st Cavalry Division Horse Platoon in 1985.  While in the army, he received the Army Service Ribbon/Army Achievement Medal. Following his time in the military, Jim attended The Pennsylvania College of Technology and earned his Associate Degree in Applied Science from Butler County Community College.  He was employed as a computer technician at the MIUIV in Grove City and then went on to become the Director of Technology for Moniteau School District.
He was a faithful, active member of St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church. He served on parish council and was both an altar server and an epistle reader. Most recently, he read for the Bishop. Jim dedicatedly volunteered in any capacity that was necessary for his church family, and it was truly the center of his life.
Jim loved his little piece of heaven known simply as “camp” where he enjoyed shooting targets, making the perfect campfire, and teaching his nieces to fish and drive the buggy.  His loyal four-legged companion, Max, was always by his side. Jim was also an avid reader, loved music and attending live concerts with his wife, and was recently becoming quite the chef.   He had been a member of the American Legion Post No 0778 for 28 years.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 31 years, Michele (Miller) Cochran, his mother Olga Cochran, whom he visited and cared for every day, mother in law Judy (Miller) Volzer and Tom Volzer, his sister Debra Harff, brother in laws Jim Harff and Matthew Savannah, sister in law Mary Savannah, and nieces Mia and Aubry Savannah.  He was preceded in death by his father Warren Cochran, brothers Michael and Thomas Cochran, father in law Dr. Gary Miller, and sister in law Melissa Rubin.

In his free time Bo loved to hunt, fish and boat. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends and loved all the kids. In addition to his parents Bo was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Lorenz, his sister Joann Kramer, his sister Phyllis Sychak, a brother Vincent Lorenz Jr. and a nephew Timothy Kramer.
