Glen Anthony Bosarge, a.k.a. Big Papa, was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 3, 1964 with a special laugh and smile that touched anyone he met. He was a kind and loving soul and always full of laughs, even in his last days. Glen attended St. Martin High School and graduated with the Class of 1982. As young boy, he grew up fishing with his Dad and that began his love for the Ocean. Glen loved to collect model shrimp boats because his Grandfather was a fisherman and worked in the seafood industry. Glen was a silly character and from a young age was always misplacing things. In fact, on his first date with his wife, he misplaced his credit card and most of the date was spent looking for it. It ended up being at the restaurant that they had dinner at and eleven years later, it is her favorite memory of meeting him.
Glen was honored to serve our country and enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. He then enlisted in the Naval Reserves. Upon returning home from the Military, he obtained his Associates Degree in Business from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. His love for the water was always a part of him and he could not leave it behind so he began his career as a Merchant Marine and worked in the industry for over 25 years.
Glen was a member of the Fleur De Lis Society (French Club) where he grew up dancing and singing with his family. Glen loved to dance and sing Karaoke. He would always want to do dance-offs with everyone because he knew he was the best dancer. As a child, he loved to sing the song, Joy to the World - Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog and he would incorporate some of his famous dance moves while singing. Glen will always be missed but he will be remembered most for his courage and love of life. Glen has continued to show his love of life by donating his organs to save others.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Henry Bosarge and his deceased Wife, Marybeth Hunt Bosarge.
He is survived by his Wife of eleven years, Shellie Bosarge; his Mother, Mercedes Hebert Bosarge; his children, Shannon Bohan, Tyler Bohan and wife Hannah, Thomas Friend and wife Trisha and Terrance Friend and wife Rebecca; his beloved dogs, Tequila, Lola and Delilah; two brother’s, Michael Bosarge and Alan Bosarge; one sister, Sheila Foster and husband Jay Foster; six grandchildren, Dominic Catano, Mariah Catano, Oliver Catano, Joel Bohan, Myra Bohan and Sadie Bohan; nieces, Priscilla Foster, Angelica Foster and Giselle Foster; nephews, J.R. He was always ready with a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mike's biggest wish was that others will pay kindness forward.
