Obituary Preview: Dr. Neal F. Aulick II, 55, of Wheeling passed away on May 9, 2024 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV. Neal was the son of the late Leslie Aulick and Cordelia Vickers Aulick of Burlington, Ky. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ginger Gosney Aulick, and his daughters, Afton Aulick of Pittsburgh and Harper Aulick of Wheeling. He leaves behind his sister Melissa (Ray) Sterling of Independence, KY, his nephew, Steven Sterling of Washington, PA, and nieces Jordan Sterling of Walton, KY, and Whittney Lindsay of Lakewood, CO and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Neal was born in Covington, KY on July 21,1968. His undergraduate studies from Northern Kentucky University were completed in 1991 where he met his future wife. Neal and Ginger were united in marriage the week following their college graduation by their Biology professor, Dr. Thomas Rambo, who was also an ordained minister. Soon after they moved to Lexington, KY, where Neal attended medical school at the University of Kentucky. He graduated in 1995 and completed his residency at the WVU School of Medicine in Morgantown in 1998. He was a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and completed an administrative fellowship in the Emergency Medicine Physicians Scholars program in 1999.
Neal’s medical career was primarily spent as an attending physician for Emergency Medicine Physicians (USACS) in emergency departments throughout West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, including United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV from 1997 to 2005, having served as its director since 1999; Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, WV and East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, OH (EMSTAR) from 2005 to their closures in 2019, having served as their director since 2007. His final employment was at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV from 2019-to the present. While there, Neal also became a certified Black Lung Examiner for the Respiratory & Occupational Lung Disease Clinic through the Department of Labor in 2020.
Neal was involved in education, having served as a lecturer and instructor to the OVMC Emergency Medicine Residency Program and Wilderness Medicine Rotation. In addition, he was a clinical assistant professor at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Department of Emergency Medicine at West Virginia University, and the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Neal served on numerous committees and boards and held many positions throughout his career, including for West Virginia ACEP and National ACEP.
Neal enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid reader, shared a common love of heavy metal music with his sister Melissa, played guitar for Al Buterol and the Inhalers (a charity cover band of local physicians and healthcare professionals), was a champion Texas Hold’em poker player, appeared in two episodes of Untold Stories of the ER, completed the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH, played racquetball, golf and pickleball, enjoyed deer hunting, and was a business partner for the trucking company 828 Transport, Inc.
Neal had a huge heart, was a great mentor, and loved without limits. Family and friends were everything to him, and he loved nothing more than spending time with all of them. He shared his interests with all who knew him, and actively learned everything he could about the interests and hobbies of his friends and loved ones.
Neal spent the past two years battling colon cancer and amazed everyone with his tenacity, bravery, determination and grit. He was awe-inspiring.
In addition to his family, he cherished the time spent with his dear friends, the Bodkin family, and all of his OVMC/Reynolds co-workers.
In keeping with Neal's wishes, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will be held in his memory at a later date.

Charles Means, Jr. - June 30, 1950 - April 30, 2024

Obituary Preview: Charles (Chuck) Means, Jr., 73, passed away at home on April 30, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1950, in Wheeling, the son of Charles and Sarah K. (Smith) Means, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother Robert E. Means.
Chuck is survived by his sister, Crystal Lee Huff; several nephews and nieces; and two great nephews. He also leaves behind his lifelong friends and golf partners, Edward H. Stein and Major David Botizan, as well as his beloved dog, Mr. Oswald.
Chuck graduated from Wheeling High School in 1968. He was a standout athlete lettering in five sports. He attended Glenville State College on a football scholarship and also served honorably in the United State Air Force.
As for Chuck's professional career, he worked at the U.S. Postal Service; he also served as a Vice President at Steel Valley Bank, and finally, he ended his career as an Adult Program Coordinator at Multi-Cap, Inc.
Chuck was very passionate about baseball and spent many years as a baseball umpire and served as a Vice President of the Ohio Valley Board of Approved Umpires. He was an avid fan of WVU Athletics and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
According to Chuck's wishes, there will be no services, but anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in his honor may do so to "Make a Wish Foundation - Wheeling" in C/O www.tmcfunding.com.

Over the course of his life, Dave was a man of hard work and dedicated his skills and talents to roofing. He and his coworkers often called themselves the “Goofy Roofers”. He spent 30 years in the roofing industry before retiring.
David was born an outdoorsman, often spending his time fishing on the banks and always taking his fishing buddy and brother Lou. Dave and Cathy went on multiple camping excursions and frequented their own camp to enjoy the world around them together, eventually introducing it to the beautiful family they created.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert Norman in the year of 2011.
David will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Katherine Biery; his wife, Cathy Biery; his daughter, Angel Biery; sons Joshua Biery and Erick Riggle. David was born to a family of seven siblings that now carry on his legacy. Brothers, Lou, Rick, and Bobby Biery. Sisters, Barb Wilds, Deborah Biery, Kathy Gray, and Sheryl Edgl. A whole host of grandchildren, Junior, Hunter & Hayden, Genevieve “Sissy”. Nieces, Amber “Hamburger”, Tracy, Brandy, Crystal, Alice, Jessica, Tiffany, Becky. Nephews, Louie, Brandon, Dustin, Ricky, Gary, Brian, Joe.
Dave loved nothing more than the time that he got to spend with his children and grandchildren. His family took great solace in him, as he was always their lighthouse and rock.
He will be missed very greatly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Betty (Dunlap) Schramm, and her sister, Kathy Beaver. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward "Skip" Beaver; her cherished son, Jeremiah (Courtney) Beaver; her dear sisters, Mary Ann Schramm and Joan Johnson; and her beloved grandchildren, Skylar and Trinity Beaver. Sharon is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense joy and love into her life. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Sharon's life during the visitation services on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm at Care Funeral & Cremation, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling.
