Obituary Preview: Michelle Drake, 40, of Concord, NC, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2019. She was born in Iowa City, IA, on July 19,1979, to Richard and Rita Lear.
Michelle was a 1997 graduate at Highland High School in Riverside, IA. She then went on to Iowa Wesleyan in Mt. Pleasant, IA, on a volleyball scholarship, graduating with a degree in marketing.
In 2003, she married the love of her life, Casey Drake. They have 3 beautiful children: Talan (14), Hannah (10 ) and Kahne (7).
Michelle was employed by CF Parks, Inc as Director of Operations, a recent major promotion. She just completed the Certified Financial Planner education requirement which is a 2 year process and also completed the Advanced Topics Symposium in Boston, MA.
Michelle wore many hats, she was a Racing Mom, Football Mom, Soccer Mom and was on the board for the Odell Recreation Association.
She leaves behind her loving husband Casey & their 3 children, Talan, Hannah and Kahne. Her parents Richard and Rita Lear. Her sisters, Laura (Dan) Striegel, Stephanie (Mark) Lear, Lisa (Dean) Humke, and Dixie (Andy) Abbott. Her nephews and nieces, Cody (Brittnee) Schneider, Kyle (Katrina) Schneider, Colton Schneider, Michael and Lauren Mitchell, Brandon and Tyler Striegel, Bryce and Cole Abbott.
Michelle is preceded in death by her grandparents Joe & Leona Lear and Melvin & Virginia Chenoweth.
Michelle in her short time on earth lived life fuller than most. Through volunteering, traveling and having adventures with her family, she was the life of the party and everyone gravitated toward her fun and spontaneous personality. Whether you knew her for 10 minutes or 40 years she was going to make you have fun and probably get you onto a dance floor or singing karaoke.
North Carolina Visitation will be Monday, August 12th, 4-7 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Iowa Visitation will be Thursday, August 15th, 4-7 pm at Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Riverside, Iowa Funeral Services will be Friday, August 16th, 10:30 am American Legion Post 457, Lone Tree, Iowa. The burial will take place at the Lone Tree Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the American Legion Post 457, Lone Tree, Iowa

Donald Thomas Kujaczynski, Jr. was born on October 2, 1951, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, the son of Donald Thomas and Frances Kathryn (Matekine) Kujaczynski. Donald served in the United States Army from August 4, 1969 – March 11, 1972 and then served in the Army Reserves until August 3, 1975. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Iowa. Donald was the supervisor of maintenance for the city of Iowa City. He wrote and published poetry and enjoyed hunting, fishing, karate, art, mechanics and the study of philosophy of religion and science.
Donald will be deeply missed by his siblings, Joe (Debbie) Kujaczynski of Loveland, Colorado, Patsy Kujaczynski of Iowa City, Dan (Janie) Kujaczynski of Washington and Cindy (Chuck) Carey of Cedar Rapids.

Robert Allen Wollrab was born on June 21, 1946, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Donald and Lavina (Kron) Wollrab. Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 – 1967. On April 18, 1969, Robert was united in marriage to Doris Schwab in Galesburg, Illinois. Robert was a lifelong farmer and loved gardening, fishing, going to auctions, reminiscing about the good ole days, took pride in mowing and checking things around the block with his dog, Sandy. He especially loved to spend time with his family. Robert also enjoyed watching RFD, Andy Griffith and the weather channel, due to his job in the services as a weather man. Harvest time was one of his favorite times of the year as well as the planting season.
Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Doris of Ainsworth; his children, Jeff (Cassie) Wollrab of Austin, TX, J.D. On August 6, 1960, Sondra was united in marriage to Charles Kiene in West Branch, Iowa. Sondra had worked for the Iowa City School district as a secretary from 1958-2006. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and baking. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Sondra will be deeply missed by her son, Craig Kiene of Riverside; two grandchildren, Chris McCreedy and Cayla Kiene; siblings, Ellen Schellin of Florida, Linda Plecker of Ainsworth, Roger Johnson of West Liberty, Mark Johnson of West Liberty and Dave Johnson of Mt. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and enjoyed traveling, children, was the family historian and spending time with friends throughout the United States.
Anna is survived by her brother, Donald Duder of Lone Tree and many nieces and nephews.

Steven Fred Bennett was born on July 8, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Vernon Steve and Dorothy Ann (Jagim) Bennett. Steven was a graduate of Iowa City High and attended the University of Iowa. Steven married Yvonne Coon and later married Barbara Walker. On April 9, 1993 he married Marilyn Joan Rummelhart (Gerot) of Riverside, Iowa. Steven served his country in the United States Navy. Steven apprenticed as pressman for Iowa City Press Citizen. He had also worked at Universal Climate Control in Coralville and at Foreman-Climate Engineers, Inc. in Cedar Rapids where he evaluated design problems with engineers and architects. Before retiring Steven worked at Rockwell Collins on circuit boards. Steven had performed in the Jazz Big Band at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
Steven will be deeply missed by his wife, Marilyn of West Chester; sons, Craig Alan Mitchell of Texas and Steven William Bennett of Coralville; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Brusky of Aurora, Illinois; step son, Bret (Andrew Rasey) Rummelhart of Wilmington, Delware; step-daughters, Wendy Walker, Paula Marie (Michael) Brinning of Keota and Julie Ann (Rummelhart) Smith of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Cheryl Bennett Fenderson of Davenport, Iowa; brother, Timothy J. (Debra) Bennett of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Henry Frederick and Claudia Rayne Brusky; four step-grandchildren, Kelsey (Bryce) Stout, Kyle Joseph and Christina Marie Brinning and Zackary Willis Smith and two nephews, Tim and Chris Fenderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon, and step-son David Walker.
The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa and Hospice of Washington County for their loving care.

Sojka in Riverside. Anita retired from the University of Iowa Business Office. In retirement, she enjoyed working at the Kalona Historical Village. She was a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Riverside. In addition, she served on the Mt. Olivet Cemetery board, and volunteered at Pleasantview Home. Anita enjoyed quilting, bird watching, gardening, her rose bushes, traveling, and playing cards with her grandchildren. Her greatest love was the time she spent with her family.

Robert John Pogge was born on May 23, 1926, in West Point, IA the son of Albert and Neva (Foss) Pogge. Bob attended St. Mary’s school in Riverside. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On June 21, 1949, Bob was united in marriage to Kathleen Agnes Knebel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. He was the owner/operator of the DX bulk delivery service in Riverside and surrounding areas and later retired from the University of Iowa. Bob was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Bob enjoyed the outdoors; state, national and international travel—but especially loved driving across the USA with Kathy by his side, interpreting the maps; and all sports. His greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with his family members. A close second had to be his love for devouring newspapers, front to back, multiple times!
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathy Pogge; children: Carol (Thom) Kirkpatrick of Hills; Barbara (Dan) Pence of Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii; and Nancy Kirkpatrick (Joel Simms) of North English; four grandchildren: Dan (Heather) Pence; Chris (Erin) Michel; Stacey (Chad) Huedepohl; and Levi (fiancé Lauren Knaack) Kirkpatrick; four great-grandchildren: Tailor Kai Pence, Luke and Chase Michel and Lena Huedepohl; nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wesley and Richard, who was Bob’s twin brother, and two sisters, Ruth and Mary.

Dolores Ann Horak was born on February 23, 1926, in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of John and Anna (Krotz) Horak. On January 15, 1947, Dolores was united in marriage to Delbert Grecian in Iowa City. Dolores was a homemaker and helped in the kitchen at Highland Community Schools. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, animals, polka music, games shows and life on the farm. Dolores had a very caring heart always enjoying having her family around and her pet dog, Billy.
Dolores will be deeply missed by her children, Gary (Shelby) Grecian of Riverside, Larry (Sharon) Grecian of Riverside and Karen (Russell) Fox of Riverside; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and brother, Wayne (Liela) Horak of Iowa City.

Kirk E. Kaalberg was born on July 18, 1959, the son of Frank E. and Betty R. (Lungquist) Kaalberg. Kirk graduated from Highland High and received his BA in Accounting from Central College, Pella Iowa where he was an amazing athlete of football, basketball, and baseball. He obtained his MBA from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Kirk started his professional career initially working at Banc of Iowa, then Teleconnect, where he rapidly rose to the highest level of executive management. From 1987 to 1990 he held senior management positions at Teleconnect and its successor, Telecom*USA. From 1990 through 1992 he was senior manager of MCI following its acquisition of Telecom*USA. He was a co-founder of McLeodUSA which was formed in 1992 and completed its initial public offering in 1997. From 1992 through 1999, Mr. Kaalberg served in various executive positions at McLeodUSA, including President of Network Services. After leaving McLeodUSA, Kirk embarked on a new career in private equity with AAVIN in 1999, leveraging his prior 19 years of operational experience in telecommunications, software and networking. Kirk became a Senior Partner at AAVIN. He was a board member of several companies, including but not limited to Chairman of the Board LimoLink, Coolibar, Inc, Halo Innovations, Inc, Dynamic Broadband Corp, The AdTrack Corporation and Archon Inc. Kirk’s notable success was not limited to business. Those who encountered him over the span of his career would agree that his intellect was only surpassed by his great sense of humor and personable character. Kirk was the most humble, generous man with a huge heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kirk will be deeply missed by his life partner, Renee; his children, Katie Beitz and her husband, Adam, Kourtney Kaalberg and Lindsey Kaalberg; two grandchildren, Alex and Lizzi and one brother, Scott.

Zac Alan Yeggy was born on June 28, 1991 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dennis M. and Kelly A. Yeggy. He graduated from Southeast Warren High School in Liberty Center, IA in 2009, where he was a member of the football team and always guaranteed to make you laugh. Zac went on to attend college at the University of Iowa where he was able to cheer on his Hawkeyes and earned a Bachelor’s degree in 2013.
Zac had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a love for the Hawkeyes and made sure everyone knew it. Zac never missed an opportunity to get outdoors to go fishing or mushroom hunting. Zac had a love for all animals and enjoyed helping out on the family farm. He loved spending time with his family and was a very proud uncle. Zac will be greatly missed by the many people who love him.
Zac is survived by his parents; Dennis and Kelly Yeggy of Chariton; brothers Ryan (Kayli) Yeggy of Milo, IA, and Bret Yeggy of Bettendorf, IA; Nana, Barb Powers of Dubuque, IA; grandparents, Merritt and Evelyn Yeggy of Riverside, IA; nephews, Kash and Klayton Yeggy; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Zac was preceded in death by his Papa Tom Powers.
