Edwin Zimmerman - September 25, 1965 - December 12, 2023

Departed: 12/12/2023 (Grand Junction)
Obituary Preview: Who was Ed?
He was my beloved, my laughter, my co-conspirator, my protector, my dream collaborator, my ally....my heart.
These are but a tiny top portion of an iceberg that was our life together. The small, visible part. Beneath the surface, that iceberg is so much larger. Its great mass is shipwrecking, and I am its sole surviving inhabitant. To try to articulate who he was is like trying to trap the ocean in a cup and give it to someone else to taste. When the moisture hits their lips, they taste its salt but have no sense of its presence or gravity. No vision of its beauty or rage. No understanding of the life it holds in its depths or... the monsters. So here is that small, insufficient cup.
Ed was beloved to his wife Shawn, our dogs Iva, Ramsey, Jacks and our cat MR. He has friends all over the country that will feel the world is lesser for his loss to it.
He was a hard worker that took great pride in all that he did and was loved in his workplace as well as by their customers. He was a quiet man with a huge heart who gave hugs that comforted the way a teddy bear reassures a child with its soft, warm embrace, allowing unbidden tears to fall upon its kind face. There wasn’t a dog that he ever met that didn’t like him. Even the mean ones somehow knew he was a friend. He loved them all. We shared a deep love of all animals and appreciation of God’s beauty, signatured all throughout nature.
He was kind and he loved me. Patient when I was slow to trust and equal in hardheaded, stubbornness to me so as to create a perfect balance. Simply put, he was my home here.
That is the cup of ocean I give you to sample but there is more to come. Ed knew Jesus. He had allowed Him to heal his deeply broken heart and asked Him to show him God’s ways. He allowed his old nature to be challenged and himself to be changed. This is how I know that I will see him again and look ever forward to that day.

Obituary Preview: Gary Parrott passed away unexpectedly the morning of December 1, 2023, at home, of natural
causes. He just missed his 71st Birthday. Gary was a retired sergeant with the California Highway Patrol and a former Air Force officer, with many years of experience writing and reviewing paperwork of all kinds. Additionally, he comes from a long line of ancestors who had performed patriotic, civil and military service on behalf of this country since the Revolutionary War. He is also a member of the Mayflower Society as he is a direct descendant of four of those who landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620 (Stephen Hopkins, John Howland, Thomas Rogers and Edward Tilly). He was a member of many Patriotic Ancestry Societies to honor his ancestors. He was also a member of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus. He was
involved in placing over 30 historic plaques in California and Colorado. Gary was born at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts, where his father, a fighter pilot, was stationed after the Korean War. For the first several years of his life, Gary was very “mobile”, residing in
several states before his family settled in the San Francisco Bay area in the 1960s. After graduation from high school, Gary, attended California State University-Hayward, where he earned a BA Degree. While in college, during the height of the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves. Upon completion of Basic Training, during the summer of 1973, he qualified for and was recommended for the Reserve Officer Training Program (ROTC). Subsequently, he was attached to the
USAF ROTC unit at the University of California-Berkeley. Upon successful completion, Gary, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1975. County Sheriff’s Office, and finally, as a traffic officer with the California Highway Patrol. Gary retired in 2004 after more than 30 years of combined civilian and military service to this country. Two years later, Gary and Lori moved to Grand Junction in 2006, where they both continued to
be active in the community – volunteering their time with various patriotic and service organizations. Gary joined the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard in 2008, becoming the commander in 2017. Over
the years he has participated in over 3000 honor Services for our Veterans. Gary is survived by his wife.

Weston Lucas Nichols - October 31, 1979 - October 27, 2023

Departed: 10/27/2023 (Grand Junction)
Obituary Preview: Weston Lucas Nichols, loving husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on October 27, 2023, at the age of 43. Wes was born on October 31, 1979, in Boone, IA, to Peggy Wilson
James and Clinton Nichols. Wes grew up in Hayden and Grand Junction before moving to Utah and working in the printing industry for several years. After returning to the Grand Valley, he sold cell phones at Sam’s Club and became known and appreciated by an amazing number of people in the valley. Wes was rightfully very proud of his efforts to overcome substance dependency in his life, and that
success was a source of inspiration for his family and friends. He found the love of his life, Mary, when he sold her a phone on October 24, 2016. He became her friend and confidante, significant other, fiancé, and four years later, on October 24 they were
married giving him the title of husband and father. He excelled at each. Wes had a wicked sense of humor and a plethora of dad jokes and puns. His collection of funny t-shirts was vast, and sometimes borderline inappropriate. He never failed to make those
around him smile with light-hearted memes on social media or in a text message out of the blue. Wes had a smile and kind word for everyone he met, and was always there for his family and friends with a helping hand. He was willing to give his time by taking on whatever he could to
make it easier for others. He was loved and treasured by all who knew him. Wes had a love for hiking and the outdoors. His hiking boot collection rivaled his t-shirt collection, and the brighter and more vivid the color, the more he loved them. He cherished riding bikes through Glenwood Canyon or hiking Crag Crest Trail on the Grand Mesa with his mom. The two of them were confidantes in life, and carried one another through the toughest
times they faced over the years. He is survived by his wife Mary and (step)son Antonio, his parents Peggy James (George) and Clint (Becky) Nichols, brothers Terry (Marni) Meyers, Gary Meyers, Justin Nichols, and Jarrod Nichols. Uncle “Wessie” will be missed by his nieces Samantha, Emily, and Cora and nephew
Cash. A Celebration of Life will be held at Appleton Christian Church, located at 2510 I-70 Frontage
