Ellen grew up in Windsor and upon graduation, she attended ECU. She later moved to Durham for several years before moving to Greenville over 30 years ago. She was employed with Duke Social Services and later with the American Cancer Society. Being a creative person, Ellen enjoyed doing small crafts and keeping up with current events. She loved her family and pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulrich and Bunny Mizelle; and a sister, Martha Lineburger.
She is survived by her son, Ben Ray of Greenville; and a sister, Judy Pless (Dusty) of Asheville.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 am at Martin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at her daughter’s home.
Linda was born in Alabama and moved around due to her father’s military career. Following her father’s retirement from the military, they settled back in Bear Grass. Linda worked at Eagle Snacks and later with Overton’s. She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jakie Jenkins; parents, Otis and Frances Farmer; and stepdaughter, Becky Jenkins.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Rogers (Mike) of Rogers, AR, Renee Wright (Tobin) of Bear Grass, and Jackie Butler (Jimmy) of Export, PA; stepchildren, Robbie Jenkins (Stephanie) of New Bern and Amber Jenkins of Bear Grass; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ayers of Bear Grass.

She was born April 19, 1960 in Pitt County NC, to the late Joe Mac Tyson and Malissa Tyson- Privette. At an early age, Precilla moved to New York, and attended The Boys and Girls High School. Later, in the early 90’s, she moved to North Carolina, and worked in manufacturing, the medical field, retail sales, and was an enthusiastic entrepreneur that loved making things sparkle until her health failed. Her hobbies included antiquing, fashion and design, and a hair stylist.
Fond memories of her life will be cherished by her children: Thomas Tyson of Greenville, NC, Malissa Tyson of Greenville, NC, Dionisio Tyson (Chasity) of Raeford, NC, Sterling Suggs of the home, and her loving God-daughter, Ashley Leito of Burlington, NC; grandchildren that she loved spending time with: Yul Carter Tyson of Greenville, NC, Nailah Paulina Tyson of Raeford, NC, Nova Noelle Tyson of Raeford, NC, Surai LaTrell Moye of Greenville, NC, and her grandpups, Frappe and Vega; siblings, Gwendolyn Tyson of Greenville, NC, Belinda Charles of Grifton, NC, and her loving brother, Leon Tyson of Kinston, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Mac Tyson, and special long- term friend, Clyde Edmondson (Mr. Wes).
Precilla’s jovial spirit, infectious smile, and exuberant personality will be forever missed.

Obituary Preview: Greenville – John W. Spakowski, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 1 at 11 am in the Smith Funeral Chapel.  Following the service a reception to celebrate John's life will be held at Stokes Family Farm.  The funeral mass will be livestreamed at www.smithfcs.com.
John was preceded in death by his father John, mother Edith, and sister Gini. He was born and raised in Essex County, NJ. He graduated from West Orange high school, and then Upsala College where he met his lifelong sweetheart in 1969.
Together for 55 years, John leaves behind his best friend and wife of nearly 50 years, Josephine of Greenville; children, Jay of Raleigh and Marina (Brad); grandchildren, Jacob and Emily all of Greenville; brother, Richard (Sue); as well as many additional extended family members.
John was best described as a lifelong educator, serving as a teacher in multiple school systems in NJ. As an exceptionally hard worker, John fulfilled roles in many other careers during his life in NJ as well, such as real estate agent, business owner for the Country Deli, and landscaping professional. After moving to NC in 1989, he worked for the Parks and Recreation dept for the City of New Bern, NC winning state recognition for his work, and retiring as supervisor in 2008. He and his wife Joey moved to Greenville, NC in 2016 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
John was a lover of all genres of music, horticulture, science, politics, and football. He was an avid gardener and never missed a planting season. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered as a larger-than-life personality, always ready to teach a lesson, and for being a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and mentor.

She is survived by her nieces, Shelia Woolard Parker and Amy Woolard Dupree; nephew, James Neal Woolard; sister-in-law, Catherine Edwards Woolard; and daughter-in-law, Regina Ransom.

She later taught first grade at Trinity Christian School in Greenville for over 15 years. She was a member of Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lillian Alston; infant son, Mark Sode; two sisters, Janice Storms and Roberta Daughtry; and a brother, Lloyd Alston, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward Sode; son, MSgt USAF Nathan Sode of Langley AFB in VA; and several nieces and nephews.

June was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Charles Wesley Gregg and Elizabeth Grazelle McCabe Gregg on March 10, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Iris Jane Gregg Spruill and husband, Dr. David G. Spruill, Sr.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 27 at 11 am at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 am until the funeral hour at the cemetery.
June is survived by her daughter, Margaret Gregg Bennett Anderson; grandchildren, Lauren (Dylan) Elizabeth Anderson Hawkins, and Michael (Rachel) McCabe Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Kensington McGreggor Anderson, and Bennett William Anderson. She is also survived by nieces, Elizabeth Spruill Simmons, Lori Spruill Giles (Dan), and Jennifer Spruill Quiggle (Steve); nephew, David Griffin Spruill, Jr. (Connie); as well and many great nieces and nephews.
June graduated from Norview High School, Norfolk, Virginia at the age of sixteen.
She then continued her education at Westhampton College, University of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia where she earned, with honors, her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught students in Virginia, Indiana, and North Carolina for a span of 43 years. She loved teaching, learning, and was herself, the forever student. She enjoyed reading, researching, and studying passages of her Bible daily.
June was a bit before her time when it came to music. She played tri-toms in the marching band, and tympani in the school orchestra. Which in her younger years, percussion instruments were usually reserved for young men. She also enjoyed playing her Hammond electric organ and singing.
As a young woman, June was an avid gardener. For fun, she took courses in flower arranging and proudly earned several ribbons and honors from the Ladies Auxiliary, Chesterton Indiana. She loved growing her own flowers and arranging them around her home.
After retirement from the state of North Carolina, she made her final home in Winterville, North Carolina to be near family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and doted on them. Her faith and family were most important. To her, family was her greatest gift. She was a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother and loved her family very much. She is greatly loved in return.

Lynn was born on May 26, 1948, in Manhattan, NY to the late Arthur and Anne Brinkworth. Her career spanned 23 years in the computer field, working for AT&T as a Data Systems Design Supervisor and a Quality Control Supervisor for H&R Block. Lynn retired from the Social Security Administration as a Deputy Branch Manager. She also taught programming languages at various community colleges in Connecticut and Maryland. She had been a resident of Greenville, NC for the past five years and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Lynn loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed family dinners. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s activities, doing crafts, traveling, and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Cullen.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Knutson; children, Kelly Bear (Colin) of Winterville and Keith Knutson (Tina Prifti) of Colmer, PA; grandchildren, Sophia, Maggie, Cora, and Josie Bear, and Adea Prifti; and son-in-law, Chris Cullen of Pleasant View, TN.

Kenneth was born and raised in Union County, NC and after graduation from the UNC-Charlotte, he and his family moved to New Bern. He taught at Craven Community College for over 30 years, retiring in 2006 as the Director of Business Programs. Following his retirement, he became an adjunct professor for ECU and also became a motorcycle safety instructor, teaching from 2007-2019. In his retirement, he lived in Oriental for several years, living between there and Meadows of Dan, VA, and later settled in Greenville to be near his family.
He was an avid sailor, spending most weekends on the Neuse River. In his later years, he loved riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Computer Instructors Association, the Lions Club, and the Blackbeard Sailing Club. He also attended Salem United Methodist Church in Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara DiBernado; and a brother, Gary Wallace.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marlene Arnell Tyson Wallace; children, Katherine Wallace and Gary Wallace (Michelle), all of Greenville; grandchildren, Wyatt and Mackenzie Royall, and Madison and Morgan Wallace; brother, Mike Wallace; and sister, Chris DiBernardo Tucker.

She loved trail riding, animals, and riding motorcycles in her younger years.
She was preceded in death by her grandma, Janet Mack; and a sister, Jennifer Miller.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Mackenzie Hanlon and fiancé, Dylan Butler of Robersonville; mother, Pamela Riddle of Pennsylvania; her ECU and Sheetz family; as well as many special friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6th at 3:30pm at Greenville Church of God. The family will receive friends at the home of Becky Warren at 2844 Sunnyside Road Greenville.
Edward was self-employed as a vinyl siding installer for many years. He was a member for over 30 years at Greenville Church of God, he was very active in the church, having served on the pastor’s council, did the homeless ministry and was an usher for many years. He loved the Lord, his family and church, and to laugh. He enjoyed fishing, and for over 20 years he liked to go out to eat every Saturday night with his son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patty Warren; brothers, J.T., Larry, Frank, Donnie, Buddy, and Charles Warren; and sisters, Helen Paramore, Becky Ayers, and Ethel Paramore.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Warren; children, Eddie Warren (Bridget) and Sheila Warren; grandchildren, Elijah Warren, Aisha and Omar Chahid; great-grandchildren, Noah Taft, Layla Whichard, and Josh Howell; and siblings, Pearl Thompson, Sissy Warren, Ann Braswell, and Sammy Warren.

She is survived by her children Robin Shulikov and Philip Brown; step daughter Dorie Nye; sister Sheila Phillips Moran; half brother James Moore; close friend and cousin Paula Mallory; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Phillips; father, Charles Moore; beloved Aunt Barbie and Uncle Jerry Stokley.

He loved being a drummer and played with multiple bands throughout his life, most recently playing with “The Last Chance Band.” He loved fishing, hunting, and reading, and had a deep love for God and believed in prayer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Frank and Louise Barnes “Doodle” Talton; and sister, Susan Talton Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sutton Talton; son, D.W. Talton (Sara) of AZ; two grandchildren; stepdaughter, Judy Flickinger (Tony) of Greenville; step granddaughter, Meghan Flickinger; brother-in-law, Martin Jackson of Dudley; and niece, Sandra Pender.
