Obituary Preview: Jean Wrenn Andrews, 91, of Siler City, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022.Jean was born in Davidson County on January 20, 1931, the daughter of Charlie C. and Leona Miller Wrenn.Mrs. Andrews grew up on 2nd Ave. in Siler City. She was the 1949 Valedictorian at Siler City High School, and went on to graduate from Meredith College specializing in organ performance. While living in Jacksonville, FL, Jean was the Manager of the A Stitch in Time Needle Craft Store. Jean was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served on the hospitality and food committee and the Threads of Faith. Jean often assisted in delivering the Church Sermon CD's to the shut in's in the area. She loved working in the yard, tending to her flowers, playing cards (hearts), and giving handmade gifts. Jean was an immaculate housekeeper, and spent her later years as a homemaker. She enjoyed painting ceramics, and sewing; Jean was a master of many needle crafts and knitting. She was a rule breaker, a lead foot, and had a sharp-witted sense of humor. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband George Henry Andrews, Jr.; 7 brothers, and 9 sisters.She is survived by her son, Charlie Andrews and wife Brandy of Siler City; daughter, Alison Knappenberger and husband Nick of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Barbara Jones of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Michal Miller and husband Kyle of Ft. Wayne, IN; Derrick Andrews and fiancé Ari of Raleigh; Clayton Knappenberger and fiancé Rachel Feng of McLean, VA; Robert Andrews of Siler City; and great grandchildren, Maggie and Tucker Miller.A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, June 25th at the First United Methodist Church of Siler City, with Rev. Mr. Andrews was born on August 6, 1943, the son of Walter Brown "Brownie" and Bessie Anderson Andrews. Terry was a Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense, Vietnam Service, and the Vietnam Campaign Medals. He attended UNC Chapel Hill. Prior to retiring as the Owner/Operator of Carolina Restaurant for 28 years, Terry was an engineer at Selig Manufacturing. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on several committees, and attended the Combined Adult Sunday School Class. Terry was also a member of the Siler City Masonic Lodge #403 A.F. & A.M, the American Legion Post 93, and the Moose Lodge. He served on the Board of Directors for the Chatham County Wildlife Club, and the President of the Chatham County Chamber of Commerce from 1984 to 1985. Terry loved to get out on the golf course and watching Carolina Sports. He was a chauffeur on many weddings using his 1950 Silver Dawn Rolls Royce. Terry adored his dogs Annie and Sissy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Todd Andrews. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Farmer Andrews; sister-in-law, Jane Farmer; and his caregivers, Joan Herring, Gloria Josey, Pam White, and many Guardian Angels that cared for him as if they were family.

He was a devoted family man that cherished the time with his children, and loved to do anything to keep his wife happy. Josh was the kind of person to do anything for anyone, and would go out of his way to help or talk to everyone. To know him was to love him. He was the kind of person everyone gravitated to. Josh was also a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Steven Lane Dixon. Obituary Preview: Betty Jean Wicker Cockman went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the age of 85, at The Greens at Pinehurst.Mrs. Cockman was born in Chatham County on January 19, 1937 to parents Williams Jennings Wicker, Sr., and Pauline Stinson Wicker. She was a member of Tyson's Creek Baptist Church. Betty was a graduate of Goldston High School where she loved playing basketball back in the good old days. Upon graduating from High School, in 1955, Betty moved to Washington DC where she worked with the FBI before returning home to her sweetheart and starting her career with Kellwood. Betty's athleticism as a teenager and young adult turned into an enduring stamina, which allowed her to work many hours in the yard, using her green thumb and a little magic to make everything she touched absolutely beautiful. Betty also loved decorating for every season of the year, holiday, or any special occasion, in an effort to bring happiness to all those around her. In recent years, she found great joy in decorating the lobby at Braxton manor where she enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Betty loved and cared deeply for her family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William R. "Buddy" Cockman; her son, Larry Wayne Cockman; brother, William "Bill" Jennings Wicker, Jr.; and sister Lula Mae "Lou" W. Phillips.She is survived by a sister, Doris W. Judy was born on March 21, 1941 to parents Bernard and Frances Willet Deaton, in Siler City, North Carolina where she lived for most of her life. Judy married her first husband Earl Hart in 1960. Together they had two children Shane and David. Sadly, Earl passed away while the boys were in their early teens. Judy was later introduced to her husband of 38 years, Edward Loy Thomas Jr., who wooed her “out of the city” with his sense of humor and country charm. They were married November 25, 1983. Together they raised a blended family, including her sons Shane and David Hart, and Loy’s two sons, Tim and Jeremy Thomas, at their home on Pete Thomas Road. She embraced the role of wife to Loy, and mother to their respective children, providing a loving and warm environment for their family to thrive in. Judy attended Mount Olive Baptist Church and was involved in church and community activities. She worked for many years, and retired from Chatham County Social Services.Judy was a woman known for her kindness and southern hospitality. She enjoyed shopping, cooking for her family, traveling with her husband to NTPA events in the United States and Holland, taking cruises with family to Alaska and the Caribbean, and vacationing with friends at the beach. She was an avid reader, and loved chocolate. She was a fan of Tom Jones, enjoyed listening to gospel, and dancing to beach music. Judy is survived by her husband, Edward “Loy” Thomas, Jr; sons, David Hart and fiance Judy of Snow Camp, Shane Hart and wife Mary of Bear Creek, Tim Thomas and fiance Kim of Chapel Hill, and Jeremy Thomas of Pittsboro; sister, Janice D. White of Siler City, brothers, Don Deaton and wife Carol, and Doug Deaton of Siler City; grandchildren, Chris Hart and wife Courtney of Goldston, Cody Littau and husband Ty of Winner, South Dakota, Stephanie Holt and husband Kris of Bear Creek, Joshua Hart, Megan Rich and husband Aaron of Wilmington; great grandchildren, Presten, Shannon and Jeremiah Holt, Lilly Kayte and Graham Hart, Lily Littau, and Cheyenne Heines. Earl was born June 6th of 1932 in Siler City to George Sr. and Myrtle Fields Dowd. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, brother Guy Dowd of Selma, NC and the Love of his Life, his loving wife whom he married on March 16th of 1953, Alma Jean Cheek Dowd (2007) along with their infant twin boys, Kentt and Kevan Dowd (1970).Earl is survived by his four daughters, Kathy of Pittsboro, NC, Karen of Spring Hill, FL, Karla of Homosassa, FL and Kimba Hockenberry (Danny) of Siler City. He has four grandchildren, Amber Gaines (Jeremiah Jones) of Ramseur, Danielle Havard (Jacob) of Bear Creek, Coda Hockenberry (Taylor) of Harper’s Crossroads and Gage Hockenberry of the home. He also has 2 great grandchildren, Bradly and Liam Gaines. He is also survived by 2 brothers. Clyde Atlas Dowd and George Dewey Dowd (Inez), both of Siler City, and sister-in-laws Frances Cheek Stains of Garner, and Joann Dowd of Selma.Earl was a proud Army veteran having served in the Korean War in 1951-52 where he was a Purple Heart recipient. Upon returning from the war, Earl began his career at Miller Heating and Air Conditioning in Goldston where he continued working for 67 years. Earl had great pride and love for his family and spent many years of his life enjoying his passion for farming and gardening. He was a great husband, uncle, brother, granddaddy and daddy (he disliked “father”, saying anyone could be a “father” but it took someone special to be a “daddy”) His absence will leave a hole in many of our lives for years to come!He will lie in repose on Saturday March 12th from 12pm- 5pm at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm at Rives Chapel Baptist Church on Sunday March 13th, 2022 with family visitation from 2:30-3:00 pm beforehand.

She worked for Glendale Hosiery for a number of years, also working for Walmart for several years before becoming unable to work. The family attended Franklinville Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she helped with the Nursing Home Ministries. June was a Licensed Mission Worker/Local Minister through the Cornerstone Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
