Cohen L. Barajas - July 02, 2005 - May 14, 2024

Departed: 05/14/2024 (New Holstein)
Obituary Preview: Cohen Luis Barajas (July 2, 2005 - May 14, 2024)
On the evening of May 14, 2024, our Cohen, who was so full of life and love, was called Home to be with the Lord. Cohen was born and raised in New Holstein, WI, where he impacted the lives of so many. From the time he was born, it was clear to all who knew him best: Cohen was like a hummingbird, flitting from one place to the next, always ready for the next adventure.
Cohen was as active as they come. He was a Cub Scout and later a Boy Scout. He participated in soccer, basketball, football, golf, wrestling, and Cross Country for New Holstein schools, and if he could have done more, he would have. Cohen loved his time with the high school musicals, most notably playing Audrey II (the plant with a terrible appetite) in "A Little Shop of Horrors." He greatly enjoyed his time on a youth trip with his peers at Zion Lutheran Church. He completed classes this past Spring at Lakeshore Technical College. All of this, along with the love and care he received from his family, his friends, neighbors, coaches, teachers, and pastor, helped to shape Cohen into the fine young man he became.
Every day of his life, he was authentically Cohen. And he never gave less than his all. His family recalls learning about the special attention he gave to residents at Willowdale Health Center, where he worked, and were not at all surprised. Cohen didn't know another way to be other than authentic, caring, and deeply sensitive toward others. His energy and humor always found a way to brighten someone’s day. Many share fond memories with Cohen that will be cherished forever: his way of flitting in to say "Hey, ________!" and then flitting over to the next person or activity shortly after; asking his Grandma Julie at every visit, "Grandma, do you have any licorice?" or taking his Great-Grandma Dallmann to Friar Tuck's; his deep love for animals; his heartfelt determination to always better himself; and his capacity to switch from a light and jovial mood to asking the most serious of life's questions, like "Why do girls act like that?" and "What do you think we're going to do in Heaven?"
Cohen is survived by his parents Jessica Kohlman and Luis Barajas; his brother Ethan Barajas; his maternal grandparents Ken and Julie Kohlman (Dallmann), his paternal grandfather Jesus Barajas; his maternal great-grandparents Bernita Dallmann and Ken & Marilyn Kohlman; his godmothers and aunts Lindsey Kohlman (Tyler See) and Elia Vera; his godfathers and uncles Adam (McKenna) Kohlman and Kenny Kohlman (Bethany Warner); his uncle Chris Kohlman (Krystal Pfeifer); his aunts Delilah Lopez, Anita Lopez, Antonia Vera, Maria “Concha” Vera; his uncles Robert “Tico” Lopez, Lupe Lopez; his cousins Hayli, Ely, Keira, Brielle, Charlie, Nick, Alia, Joe, Geraldo, Moses, Miguel, Sarah, Isabel, Cecy, Amanda, Lupe Jr., Monica, Andrew, Jasmine, Gabriella, Robert Jr., Sergio, Viviana, Victoria, Michael, Francisco, Lorenzo, Benny, Daniel, Adriana, Lilyana, Rebecca, Anaiyah, Layla, and Ricky; his special family member Rose Garcia (and her daughters Christina and Daniela), his mother’s special friend Chris Jensen, his father’s special friend Tabitha Ederer (and her daughters Shayla and Kylee), his special friend Carlie Bonde, their cat Tango, the variety of tropical fish they loved, his family’s dogs Luna and Daisy; and many other family and friends.
Cohen was welcomed into eternal life by his great-grandfather Henry Dallmann, his great-grandparents Esmerelda and Juan Chavez, his grandmother Rebecca Rosemary (“the Tamale Lady”), his uncle Alex Marquez, and his cousins Melissa Braden and Johnathan Lieterman.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Cohen's family on Monday, May 20th, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Funeral: Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church of New Holstein, followed by the church service at 12 noon. Roxann Dawn "Roxie" (Farnam) Ruechel - October 14, 1960 - April 13, 2024

Departed: 04/13/2024 (New Holstein)
Obituary Preview: Roxann unexpectedly passed away in the early hours of April 13, 2024. She was 63.
Roxann, or Roxie, as she was known by many, was full of life, big, bold feelings, and love. She was a loving and fierce mother, a dedicated and devoted wife, a dutiful and caring daughter, and a friend to so, so many. She will be missed tremendously by those who knew her.
The only daughter of Doris and Daniel Farnam, Roxann was born on October 14, 1960, in La Crosse, WI. Preceded in death by her father before she could know him, Roxann was raised by Doris and her adoptive father Ken Willgrubs.
She was well known at Sparta High, and participated in many school activities, among them cheerleading and show choir. There also may or may not have occasionally been some parties thrown by her brothers Steve, Jerry, and Rick while Doris and Ken were away on American Legion business which she may or may not have attended.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, Roxie continued to grow her circle of friends. There she was a member of Sigma Pi “Little Sisters”, and a well-known bartender at The Vous. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, she began work at a local environmental engineering firm & laboratory in La Crosse, WI. It’s there she’d meet her future husband, Greg.
Sharing a house in Galesville, WI, with Greg and their beloved dog Zak, the three of them spent many adventures piling into Greg’s jeep and heading Up North to get lost in the woods. Eventually, they relocated to Sheboygan Falls, WI, and in 1991, they married at Greg’s family church in Green Bay, WI. According to those in attendance “it was one helluva party”. Shortly thereafter, they settled in Elkhart Lake, WI.
The following year, 1992, their son Adam was born. In 1994, their daughter Kira was born.
To put it simply, Roxie was an incredible mother. She loved and supported her children in many ways. Whether it was field trips and being a room mom in elementary school, late-night homework help, little league and softball games in middle school, or every football or volleyball game, wrestling or track meet, dance, band concert, or solo and ensemble performance through Adam and Kira’s high school years, Roxie was there - every time, clapping, cheering, or commiserating from the stands.
When Adam and Kira joined the Wisconsin Marching Band during their times at UW-Madison, it’s possible there wasn’t a bigger fan of the band than Roxie. Many band members camped out in the Ruechel backyard during Fireman’s Picnic weekend, enjoying Roxie’s bartending skills, her brandy Old Fashioneds, and her borderline excessive amounts of home cooking. Her support for Badger sports was legendary, and she was looking forward to her 12th consecutive season as a Badger Football season ticket holder.
Many knew Roxie as the voice of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School. The secretary at the high school office for 22 years, she served the community of students, parents, teachers, and staff at ELGHS until her retirement in 2022. During her time there she was an on-and-off again cheerleading and dance coach for several years, as well as a stand-in mom for approximately 150 teenagers every day.
Roxie was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in New Holstein, WI. She served on the church council, planned Lenten soup suppers, spaghetti dinner fundraisers, vacation bible school, and the annual dinner theater. Above all these, though, was her love for the church choir. For years Roxie was a steadfast and committed alto in the choir, singing for every Christmas, Easter, Epiphany, or simply just because.
Roxie and Greg were looking forward to planning many trips together locally and around the world, seeing the upcoming season of shows at The Overture Center with Kira, traveling through the American southwest to see Adam, Courtney, and Isaac, and enjoying their well-earned retirements.
She is survived by her husband Greg, her son Adam Ruechel (Courtney Miller) and her daughter Kira Ruechel, her mother, Doris Willgrubs, her brothers Steve (Patti) Farnam, Jerry (Lindy) Farnam, and Rick Willgrubs, her nieces and nephews, Jenny (Adam) Bickel (Sydney, Henry, Bodie), Josh (Alyssa) Farnam (Reese & Peyton), Ashley Willgrubs, Matthew Willgrubs, and Chelsea (Harley and Aubrey) Roper, and her first grandson, Isaac.
Roxann is preceded in death by her fathers Daniel Farnam and Ken Willgrubs, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Greg, Kira, and Adam would like to thank the Elkhart Lake Police Department, Elkhart Lake First Responders, Glenbeulah First Responders, Orange Cross Ambulance, and the emergency department staff at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County for their care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements are being managed by Sippel Funeral Home of New Holstein. The family will greet family and Roxie’s many friends at a visitation held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Friday April 19th from 4:00-7:00pm and Saturday April 20th from 11:00am-12:00pm. A service will then be held at 12:00pm at Gloria Dei, with a lunch at the church immediately to follow.

David Robert Meinert - April 18, 1966 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (New Holstein)
Obituary Preview: David Robert Meinert, a dedicated farmer and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the age of 57, after bravely battling complications of pancreatitis. The child of Richard Meinert and Ophelia (Buch) Meinert Schaefer born on April 18, 1966, in West Bend, David's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family, his farm, and his passion for machinery.
Dave's journey in farming began with his graduation from New Holstein High School in 1984. On May 11, 1991, he married Jacqueline Pickart at St. John’s Catholic Church in downtown Johnsburg. Dave, alongside his loving wife, Jacki, and their three beautiful daughters, Amber, Brooke, and Carly, poured his heart into dairy, beef, and grain farming at Hinzeville Registered Holsteins and Linebacks. His connection to the land and animals was profound, reflecting his deep-rooted love for agriculture.
To know Dave is to know he bleeds International Harvester red, Dave’s expertise and devotion to his craft were unparalleled. His involvement in organizing plow days with his brother, Henry, not only showcased his knowledge but also demonstrated his dedication to preserving farming traditions and fostering community bonds. We all know one of his favorite tractors was the Steiger.
Beyond his farming endeavors, David was known for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and contagious laughter. He was a dare devil and an instigator, especially with the farm crew. He was always up to something. He had such “finesse” in the kitchen with his dorky and annoying sounds. Dave never met a sweet he didn’t like from ice cream to M&M’s and let’s not forget his portion sizes.
Dave’s most cherished role in life was that of a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and Opa. His new found love with his grandson Maxwell and the time that they enjoyed watching tractor videos, bidding on auction items and doing all the farm work. His newest addition to the farm crew, his granddaughter Ophelia, named after his loving mother, who sure also has the stubborn Meinert attitude.
Dave’s legacy will go on with his wife of thirty-three years, Jacki; their children, Amber (Jon) Taylor, Brooke, and Carly (significant other, Sam); his grandchildren, Maxwell David and Ophelia Rosemary; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Shirley Pickart. He is further survived by his siblings, Henry (Julie) Meinert and their children Laney and Will; Sue (Dave) Weber and their children, Justin (significant other, Hannah), Avery, and Lauren; and Tammy Meinert; His sister-in-law, Jeri (Tim) Roberts and Jeri & Louie’s daughter, Shelby (Kage) Negron. He was also survived by Jacki’s siblings, Jeff (Tammy) Krug-Pickart and their son Richard (significant other, Clara) Cawthon, Kim (Steve) Graf and their children Hannah (fiancé, Randy), Luke, and Lexi. He is also survived by many friends, neighbors and the Hinzeville crew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Louie Meinert; and his step father, Dick Schaefer.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Dave’s family at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Friday, April 26th from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and visitation will also be at the funeral home Saturday morning, April 27th, from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM.
A Memorial Tractor Ride will be held with the annual Meinert tractor plowing days this fall; date to be determined.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals at SSM St. Agnes and Froedtert Hospital for their compassionate care during David's illness.
Dave’s family encourages casual attire, especially red or International Harvester attire.

Departed: 04/04/2024 (New Holstein)
Obituary Preview: The Lord called Mark Anthony Pierquet, 70, on April 4, 2024, to go fishing and hunting with Him for eternity. Mark was born to Quintin and Marion (Baganz) Pierquet on June 26, 1953, and resided in the Dotyville area. After graduating from Campbellsport High School in 1971, Mark walked down to the barn on the family farm and continued doing chores and milking for the next 42 years. Along the way he met and married Pam (Stubbe) on September 13, 1975, and what a hayride that resulted in the addition of 3 children. A while later Mark started to feel his age and needed some younger calf feeders in the barn, so his children graciously added 7 grandkids. When the barn chores were done, Mark was found making popcorn, playing board games, teaching card games, or icing down the barn hill in winter so the grandkids could go sledding. These are the times he truly cherished along with watching the grandkids at their sporting events.
For a few years after selling the cows, Mark worked for the Town of Forest doing miscellaneous jobs and for Joe Miritz Custom Chopping.
Mark enjoyed fishing, sturgeon spearing, and hunting where he was always laughing or grumbling about "the one that got away". He celebrated "a hole in one" golfing. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead and euchre while astutely showing off his card shuffling skills.
Those he leaves behind include his wife of 48 years Pam; his daughter, Julie (Kevin) Young; his sons, Chuck (Pam) Pierquet and Randy (Rachel) Pierquet; Grandchildren, Keaton and Kennedy Young, Quintin, Kylee, Ryan, Carson and Landon Pierquet. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Mark’s family at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Wednesday, April 10th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the funeral home Thursday morning, April 11th from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM.
Cremation has taken place. Mark will be interred in the St. Charles Cemetery in the Town of Taycheedah.
The family extends a special thank you to each and every one of the Doctors and Staff who helped Mark through his struggles with Myelodysplastic Syndrome these past months: Dr. John Steiner and SSM Hospice at Harbor Haven, Dr. Gabriel Litman of Aurora Healthcare and Dr. Zahid Dar of Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, Dr. Gianina Sibla and the Medical Team on 7th Floor at ThedaCare, SSM/Agnesian Dr. Gu and 5th Floor Stroke Rehab Unit and finally the Mt. Dennis A. Senkbeil - March 02, 1949 - February 14, 2024

Departed: 02/14/2024 (New Holstein)
Obituary Preview: Dennis A. Senkbeil, 74, of New Holstein, was reunited with God on February 14, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Dennis was born March 2, 1949, in Sheboygan, to the late Arthur and Erma Senkbeil. Dennis was a Sheboygan native and attended several schools in and around the Sheboygan area. After high school, Dennis pursued several careers including Kohler Co, owning his own dairy farm, and bus driving for Valley Transport in Plymouth. But, he started his long-term career as on over the road truck driver at Filippo and Sons in Plymouth where he found his passion for the 18-wheeler and wide-open road that went along with it. He continued this driving passion at Johnsonville Sausage and finished his career at American Finishing Resources in Chilton where he retired from driving after nearly 30 years and having driven over 3.5 million miles. Even though his career led him down the road on 18 wheels, his true passion later in life, was always on stage as a Karaoke DJ. His personality and charisma would certainly touch every person at any venue that he played. It didn’t matter to him if it was a small corner tavern or a large-scale wedding, he would treat everyone to the same show.
Dennis is survived by his sister Carol Radtke (Bob); his former wife, Liz; his children Dennis L. Senkbeil (Tracy), Brian Senkbeil (Heather), Ben Senkbeil (Stacy), Carrie Baumann (Judd), Andrea Senkbeil, Tanya Wetor (Brian), Ryan Wetor (Tina); his grandchildren, Bo (Paige), Braeden, Gabriel, Trevor, Logan, Jack, William, Larry, Matthew, Leah (Jacob), AJ (Virginia), Caleb, Alexis, Jayda, Marshall and several great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Arthur and Erma; his brothers, Roger Senkbeil and Wayne Senkbeil; his life partner Donna J. Wetor; and grandchild Emmit.
He treasured his time outdoors and loved the November woods chasing whitetails, as well as his time on the water with pole in hand. But like many outdoorsmen might tell you, he didn’t spend enough time doing either one.
Dennis left a lasting mark in the hearts of everyone he ever met. His quirky sense of humor and light heartedness always created bonds with people that left them unable to forget him. This was always evident by his ability to find someone he knew at any given place at any given moment. Even if he found himself trying to put a name to a face, they never did. The light spirited wit and caring heart that he brought to this world will be dearly missed. But we believe those hearts he touched will carry a little piece of him forward and continue his impact on this world.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Dennis’ family at the Sippel Funeral Home on Friday, March 1st from 4:00 PM until 5:45 PM.
Dennis’ family expresses their sincere appreciation to the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and compassion given to him.
