The family later returned to Claremont, NH where Janet graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1960 where she earned the honor of Class Salutatorian. Janet’s academic accomplishments at St. Mary’s earned her a scholarship to attend Keen Teacher’s College, where she aspired to become an elementary school teacher. Dennis L. Dickinson - August 07, 1946 - April 03, 2024

Departed: 04/03/2024 (Queensbury)
Obituary Preview: Lake George - Dennis L. Dickinson, 77, of Lake George, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at his home.
Born August 7, 1946, in Saratoga, he was the son of the late Harold ‘Dick’ and Lois (Mundell) Dickinson and was proud to grow up on Sewell Street in Lake George. He married his high school sweetheart Andrea Grant in 1969 and the two were together ever since.
Dennis received his Bachelor’s Degree of Forestry Engineering from New York State College of Forestry and Environmental Sciences from Syracuse University, earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and then earned his Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He went on to become a Licensed Land Surveyor both in New York State and Vermont, as well as a Licensed Engineer in New York State.
For the last 45 years, Dennis was the owner of D.L. Dickinson Associates Land Surveyors and Professional Engineers. He employed many local people over the years, having a positive and lasting impact on their lives and careers.
Dennis had a deep connection to his community as a dedicated public servant, serving as Supervisor to the Town of Lake George from 1980 – 1984 and again from 2012 to the present. He also served on the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Board of the Lake George Arts Project.
Dennis was never afraid to try new things and always assumed he would succeed, whether it was learning Tai Kwon Do with his older son, eventually earning his brown-black belt, or building his families homes, building a successful business, or outfitting a 1965 Chevy Van and driving across country with his wife Andrea. This spirit for adventure and eternal optimism was contagious.
Dennis also had a deep love for the outdoors, especially the Adirondacks, which led him to the surveying profession, as well as re-learning to ski again in his adult life. Having no fear, he followed his young sons down any trail and hit all the jumps, for better or worse. This youthful spirit carried on throughout his life.
Ever the handyman, Dennis built almost every home he and his family lived in from the first scoop of dirt for the foundation to the intricate gate for the fence that let his grandchildren ride their bikes through. Though he was an outdoor kind of guy he always had an excellent sense of fashion for any function he attended. The man could wear a dapper hat and scarf like no other. You could find Dennis in his free time strumming a guitar, playing a harmonica (sometimes both at the same time!) or to the dismay of his wife, snacking on anything chocolate he could get his hands on.
He jumped at every opportunity to be involved in his children’s lives. Whether it was coaching little league and soccer for his sons, or pulling one of their Jeeps out of a mud hole in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night, he was there. When grandchildren arrived it was the same, any event he could attend for them, he was there.
Life is amazing and fleeting, so eat a candy bar (or two), drive across the country with the love of your life, or learn to play the harmonica, and most of all enjoy your family and friends every chance you get.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Linda Dickinson and Sandra Combs; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Fran Grant; and his brothers-in-law, Glenn Combs, Matt Clark, David Grant, and Mark Lange.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Andrea; his sons: Garth (Jenn) and Devin (Amanda) Dickinson; his grandchildren: Alex, Hannah, Gavin, and William; his sister, Audrey Clark; his brother, Larry (Marianne); his sisters-in-law, Joan Lange and Barbara (David) Krogmann along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday, April 9 at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately by the family.
If you would like to make donations in lieu of flowers, please consider The Lake George Arts Project, Lake George Region Women for WIN, Inc., and the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage in Lake George. Richard Gallon McGuirk - February 25, 1930 - March 19, 2024

Departed: 03/19/2024 (Queensbury)
Obituary Preview: February 25, 1930-March 19, 2024
Richard Gallon McGuirk was born February 25, 1930 in Delmar, New York. Son of Raymond and Harriet (Gallon) McGuirk. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School on June 23, 1947, and then furthered his education at Siena College, graduating on June 2, 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
After college he joined the US Navy Medical Corps from February 9, 1953 to February 3, 1955 serving on the USS Baltimore. One highlight of his service that he loved to share was the USS Baltimore’s participation in the United Kingdom’s Coronation Naval Review off Spithead, England on June 15, 1953, as he and his shipmates manned the rails in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
Upon completion of his service, Richard started his career briefly with Upjohn pharmaceutical sales, but then moved to join Finch Pruyn paper company’s sales team in July 1960, where he enjoyed a long and successful career until his retirement in February 1993. Richard married Clara Lockwood on October 22, 1960 and established their home on Hunter Street in Glens Falls, NY where they raised their four children. He was a DIY man, whether it was construction and maintenance on the house or re-webbing lawn chairs; anything broken he would find a way to fix it, or store it in the garage to someday be fixed, needless to say the garage never had room for a car. Richard was always active and shared his passions with his children and grandchildren for skiing, tennis, fishing, golf, pickle ball and he especially enjoyed a spirited ping pong match with his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh with friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking and experimenting with food. Gathering around Dad for pre-dinner snacks was always special, and a way he could get us to try unusual things like smelt, smoked oysters, bacon wrapped chicken livers…
Even after long days, when he would look in our pleading eyes, he would load us all up in the wagon in our pajamas to get ice cream at Martha’s. His dedication to his family was inspiring.
Annual family vacations were filled with fun and adventure. Several trips even included evacuations due to river flooding and a hurricane. His favorite place, however, was Maine where we spent most of our vacations building precious family memories.
Richard is survived by his children and their spouses, Christopher and Colleen McGuirk, Lynn and Matthew Funk, Kathryn and Steven Pidgeon, David and Sandra McGuirk; his grandchildren Ian, Connor, Lauren, John, Brianna, Danielle, Nicole, Casey, David and Jack; his great grandchildren, Hailey, Clara, David, Amelia and Eloise.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Fort Hudson Nursing Center for all the care and compassion given to Richard and Clara.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Church, Warren St., Glens Falls, NY.
Private interment will take place at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with honors.
Arrangements under the care of Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, Queensbury, NY.

Robert Francis "Bob" Moser - November 17, 1942 - February 14, 2024

Departed: 02/14/2024 (Queensbury)
Obituary Preview: Robert “Bob” Moser Obituary
Queensbury - Robert Francis Moser, age 81, passed away, peacefully on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Born on November 17, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Ida (Burns) Moser.
Bob met the love of his life when he was 15. Summer school Algebra class proved to be the perfect place to flirt with the beautiful Mary Wall. They soon became inseparable and on October 12, 1963 surrounded by loved ones, were united in marriage and began their life together. Bob's love and devotion to Mary and their children was unconditional. Family dinners and celebrations were all experiences that were treasured. Especially Christmas and the infamous black bag! As the grandchildren arrived, Bob's love and commitment to his family multiplied. He adored them all and always looked forward to seeing them and creating memories together.
He was proud to serve his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a Navy reservist and airman. His time in the service instilled in him values of bravery, loyalty, and commitment to service. After being honorably discharged, Bob worked for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company before becoming an officer with the NYPD in 1966.
Over his storied career with the NYPD, Bob proudly worked out of the 77 Precinct, known by many as "The Alamo.” He earned the distinguished Gold Shield and became a Detective, Grade 3. Breaking barriers, he was one of the first undercover officers proudly paired with both female and African-American partners. Bob ran a Robbery Alert Task Force Team, and was involved in high-profile cases, including one international incident that even caught the attention of then President Jimmy Carter. Bob finished his career in Anti-Crime. With sharp timing and an endless supply of stories, Bob quintessentially represented the NYPD of the 70s.
He also loved the Adirondacks and enjoyed a quieter post-retirement life upstate. Bob had a passion for fishing for striped bass and hunting whitetail deer, ending most evenings with a glass of B&B. He loved spending time with family, especially at his cherished camp in Schroon Lake which he built and renovated over the many happy years spent there. Every thoughtful addition to the camp signaled a new "Bob project” and he proudly hosted many friends and family celebrations over the years. Bob’s wry and quick wit will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Frank and Ida Moser of Brooklyn, NY, his son in-law, Branden “Kurt” McCoslin of TX, and his three sisters; Audrey, Edna, and Iris of Brooklyn NY, all predeceased him.
