Born June 19, 1963 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Leroy and Patricia (Merchant) Releford. She was a factory worker for Hitachi in Harrodsburg, loved to go camping with her family and traveling throughout the state of Tennessee. Tammy was a member of the Bruners Chapel Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than her husband include three sons Jason (Amber) Wilham, Kent Wilham and Brandon Wilham all of Harrodsburg; two sisters Tanya (Kevin) McMullin of Boyle County and Kristi (Chico) Gonzalez-Releford of Nicholasville, KY; one brother Kenneth "Dud" Releford of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren Kobie Wilham, Levi Wilham, Chase Wilham, Jesse Wilham, Eric Wilham, Logan Wilham, Lucy Wilham and Abby Wilham all of Harrodsburg and one great grandchild Legend Wilham of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Monday, May 20, 2024 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Schylar Fields with burial to follow in the Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Kevin McMullin, Chico Gonzalez, John Abrams, Marty Abrams, Junior Taylor and Derrick Releford. Tammy’s grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.
Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2024 from 8:00 am until the time of services at Sims Funeral Services.

Born April 15, 1974 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Robert Louis and Frances Leora (Trigg) Dean II of Harrodsburg. Robert was a 1992 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, became a long-time meat department manager at Save-A-Lot both in Stanford and Harrodsburg, liked to go fishing, hunting, working, spending time with his family and friends and taking vacations. Robert was a member of the Centennial Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than his wife and parents include four sons, Earnon Bryce Searcy and Logan Ray Spielman both of Texas and Tashaun Dean and Ayden Dean of Lancaster; one sister Renee (Lee) Clemons of Harrodsburg; three brothers Staffond Trigg, Terrill Trigg and Tyrone Dean all of Harrodsburg. Robert was preceded in death by a stepdaughter Gracie Spielman and a brother Lorenzo Trigg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Donald Wayne Smith. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Staffond Trigg, Lamont Trigg, Tyrone Dean, Craig Vaughn, Joseph Key, Michael Brennan, Juhon Goodman, Lee Clemons, Alajywon Dean, and Lamont Linton.

Obituary Preview: Dusty Kent Ogle, age 66, Corydon, Kentucky formerly of Harrodsburg passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson. Kentucky. Born August 22, 1957 in Henderson, KY, he was the son of the late William Edward Ogle Sr. and Lara Guinne (Moore) Ogle. He was a graduate of Forest Hills High School in Marshville, North Carolina and was a self-employed construction worker. He enjoyed fishing, building and being with his family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters Maxie Lyons and Rebecca Cox both of Harrodsburg; one sister Linda Ogle of Corydon, KY; three brothers Eddie Ogle, Glenn (Laura) Ogle and Virgil Ogle all of North Carolina; three grandchildren Davelle Smith of Lexington, Davonta Smith and Cecil Lee Cox both of Harrodsburg. Dusty was preceded in death by a son Christopher Kent Ogle.
There will be no visitation or services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Ollie Mae Curry, age 87, Louisville, widow of Samuel Wentz Curry, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at The Pinnacle of Louisville. Born October 9, 1936 in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sanders W.D. and Stella Ellen (Gilbert) Baxter. Along with her husband she was a former resident of Harrodsburg. Prior to that she was a social worker for the state of West Virginia. She loved being with her family, playing board games like 42 dominoes and scrabble. She was an active member of the Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville.
Survivors include a daughter Brenda Sue (David) White of Louisville; two sons Samuel (Myra) Wayne Curry of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Paul (Alyssa) Curry of Georgetown, Kentucky; a sister Wanda Lavonne Miller of Hemet, CA; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Ollie was preceded in death by a daughter Julia Mae Jackson, one brother Jesse Velton Baxter and sister Agnes Mozelle Connick.
Graveside services will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 20th at the Mountain View Cemetery located at 916 – 920 Cemetery Road in Marlinton, West Virginia.

Calvin Prentice "Penny" Derringer - September 07, 1946 - April 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: Calvin Prentice "Penny" Derringer, age 77, Harrodsburg, husband of Judith Ann (Stephens) Derringer, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at his home in Harrodsburg.
Born September 7, 1946 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Louis Calvin Derringer and Nancy Shirleen (Lay) (Derringer) Yates. He was a 1964 graduate of Mercer County High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. He served our country in the Army National Guard from 1966 until 1972. Penny was a quality engineer for IBM/Lexmark and after retirement he became a fulltime farmer which he loved.  He was a diehard UK sports fan, enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and friends, hunting and spending time with his family whom he treasured. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than his wife include three sons Kelly Lewis (Millie) Derringer of Crestwood, KY, John Douglas Derringer of Harrodsburg and Mark Thomas (Abby) Derringer of Berea, KY;  three sisters Kathy (Roy Lee) Pulliam, Debbie Sue Moss and Ann Thomas (Scott) Huff all of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren Colin Joseph Derringer, Nolan Prentice Derringer, Griffin Ridge Derringer and Anderson Thomas Derringer all of Berea, KY, Jackson Derringer of Crestwood, Lainey (Josh) Roth of Louisville, Kody (Marissa) Arvin of Lexington and one great granddaughter Piper Roth of Louisville, several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and a host of close friends.  Other than his parents Penny was preceded in death by his stepfather Tommy Yates; a sister Connie Derringer and maternal grandparents Marvin and Rebecca Lay.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Sims Funeral Services by John David Lay. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until the hour of services.
A private family burial service will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Lee Thomas Moss, Mason Moss, Justin Wilham, Casey Pulliam, Shane Prentice Moss, Colin Buckner and Tyler Sawyer.
Honorary bearers are Penny’s long time fishing and hunting buddies.

Born August 13, 1938 in Saxman, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lloyd and Carrie Mae (Jones) Bennett. She was a graduate of Richwood, WV High School, a manager for IBM, loved to do writing, gardening and being with her family. She was a member of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two daughters Sandy (Jimmie) Bain and Shari Langford both of Nicholasville; one sister Leta (Calvin) Spicer of Irvine, KY and three brothers John Bennett of Hamilton, OH, Gary (Pat) Bennett and Joey (Toni) Bennett both of Lexington; five grandchildren Ellen (Danny) Adams and Cody (Alaina) Bain both of Nicholasville, Lennie (Jason) Gilpin of Stanford, Bobby (Jessica) Langford Presley of Lexington and Selena (Matt) Speno of Louisville; seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Ellen was preceded in death by a brother Lloyd Bennett and four sisters Loretta Drakeford, Burnice Pelley, Helena Davis and Doris Whited.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon, Monday, April 1, 2024 at Bethel Christian Church located at 1991 Phillips Road, Nicholasville, KY by Bro Bill Bales. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church.

David A. Noel - October 15, 1954 - March 22, 2024

Obituary Preview: David Noel, age 69, Harrodsburg, husband of Teresa Wood Gabhart Noel, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born October 15, 1954 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Buford Allen and Betty Sue (Brand) Noel. He was a 1972 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a 1976 graduate in Law Enforcement from Eastern Kentucky University. David then became a Deputy Sheriff for the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office from 1976 until 1981 then attended the Police Academy School in 1981 and later was a police officer for the Harrodsburg Police Department from 1980 until 1983. Following his law enforcement duties, he became a car dealer at Gabhart & Noel Auto Sales from 1983 until 1990. He then was a Long-Haul Truck Driver for Heartland Express and then became a self-employed long haul truck driver until he retired in 2004. David was a long-time member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
Survivors other than his wife include a daughter Kathryn Wood Noel of Lake Worth, FL; a sister Karen (Jeff) Million & family of Harrodsburg; special friends Denise (Greg) Howard, Amanda & Alyssa Howard, Dru & Jim Davis all of Harrodsburg and Dawn & Olivia Hall, several nieces and nephews and many other cherished friends that were an integral part of his life.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Sims Funeral Services by Marcus Nations. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Rodney Noel, Wayne Jackson, Mike Sheperson, Bobby Black, Greg Howard, Roney Bottom, Keith Anness, Jeremy Wood, Terry Dean and Tommy Hurst.
Honorary bearers are the men of the Harrodsburg Church Of Christ.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from10:30 am until the hour of service at Sims Funeral Services.

He attended McAfee School and then transferred to Mercer County High School, was a self-employed brick mason and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Stacy (Doug) Coffey of Dunnellon, FL, a son Keith (Pam) Brown of Harrodsburg, a sister: Judy (Billy) Wilson of Harrodsburg, two brothers Donnie (Yvonne) Brown of New Mexico and Jerry Brown of Danville, six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a special friend Mary Phillips. Franklin was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Whiteneck and a brother Eugene Brown.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted later this summer at a time and place to be announced. Sims Funeral Services is in charge of local arrangements.

Wendell was a 1967 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, attended the University of Kentucky, received his real estate broker’s license and enjoyed buying and selling houses plus other real estate properties. He enjoyed going on vacations, hunting, and listening to music. He attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Paris, KY and the Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters Karma Drakeford of Maderia Beach, FL and Selena (Lee) Lakes of Georgetown; two sons Rhett Drakeford of Tampa, FL and Drew Sharp of Georgetown; four grandchildren Kayla Gibb, Cali Drakeford, Branson Drakeford and Nicholas Mason.
Wendell was preceded in death by two brothers Terry Lee Drakeford and James "Jim" Joseph Drakeford and by one sister Linda Louise Drakeford.

Kelly liked music, doing artwork by sculpting and painting and was a member of the Baptist faith.           Survivors other than his father include a sister Lisa (Larry) A. Votaw of Harrodsburg plus many friends and colleagues.  Graveside services have been changed to a Celebration of Life Service to be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. John David Lane. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery.

Born September 5, 1972 in Muncie, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Dailey LeJune and Imojean (Coates) Pyles. She was a high school graduate, a homemaker, liked to fish, go sightseeing and spend time with her family. She attended the Dry Branch Baptist Church in Mercer County.
Survivors include one daughter: Morgan Venters of Harrodsburg; two brothers Lester Estep of Indiana and Eric Pyles of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren Kallen Williams and Kieran Banks both of Harrodsburg; four nieces Sabrina Pyles and Jessica Herwehe both of Harrodsburg, Amber Pyles and Shosho Pyles both of Indiana and two nephews Shad Estep of Indiana and C.J. Keutzer. Charlotte was preceded in death by a brother Alan Pyles and two nephews, Jason Pyles and Jason Estep.
A private family service and burial was held to honor the late Charlotte Venters' request. Arrangements were entrusted to Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg.

Survivors include two daughters Bobbie Jo Monroe of Salvisa and Brandy Yocum of Stanford; four sons Frankie Lee (Joyce) Yocum of Harrodsburg, Tony (Ida) Yocum of Burgin, Timothy (Jason) Yocum of Massachusetts and Jimmy Conn of Bryantsville; one brother Kenneth “Pork Chop” S. (Linda) Yocum of Danville and two sisters Nancy (Herman) Hill of Stanford and Diane (Daryl) Allen of Waynesburg.  Other than his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by a daughter Bridgett Wesley; three brothers Billy Foster Yocum, James Brownlow Yocum and Joe Yocum and two sisters Rose Marie Tyler and Sandra Carol Yocum.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Sims Funeral Services. There will be no services. Sandra Lue Vaughn - July 17, 1939 - January 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Sandra Lue Vaughn 84, of Rome, N.Y., passed away on January 24, 2024 at Rome Health with her loving family by her side.  She was born on July 17, 1939 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Laconia and Laura Bell Taylor Williams.  Sandra was the first Afro American woman to graduate from Harrodsburg H.S. in a nonsegregated class.  She continued her education later in life by attending and graduating from the Utica School of Business.
On January 17, 1958, she married Sgt. Donald O. Vaughn, USAF, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, then moved to Ohio to begin their lives together at the first of many military assignments.  TSgt. Donald O. Vaughn, USAF Retired, predeceased Sandra on July 5th, 1979.  Sandra was a dedicated wife and mother, standing strong for her children, while her husband Donald proudly served two tours in Vietnam.
For over 20 years Sandra was employed by the Rome City School District.  She was also formerly employed at the N.C.O. Club and Officers Club at Griffiss Air Force Base.  Upon her move to Griffiss in 1969, Sandra began attending the Grace Union A.M.E. Church of Rome, N.Y. where she soon became the pianist and Musical Director.  Sandra was a talented pianist who could never walk past a keyboard without sitting down and playing a tune for those around her.  In her spare time Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, collecting dolls and antiques and sharing her days and life with Joseph Owens, whom she met in the early 1980’s.  Joe and Sandra were inseparable and remained together until his death in October 2017.
Sandra is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bernard Jowers of Rome; two sons, Daniel Vaughn (Patricia Feole) and William “Speedy” Vaughn of Rome; a sister, Diane Ford-Mayes of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Bernard O. Jowers I (Sarah Jowers), Jordan C. Feole and David D. Jowers; two great grandchildren, Amara G. Jowers and Bernard O’Neal Jowers II; Nephews, Craig and Gary Ford of Harrodsburg and Sean (Tony) Johnson of Amarillo, Texas; a first cousin Sue Mae Parks-Beal of Bruceton, TN and a host of relatives.  Sandra is also survived by long-time friends, Mary Jane Boyce, Dorothy Yearby, Sue Rathbun and Joanie Feole.
A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the Grace Union A.M.E. Church of Rome with visitation from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the church.  Arrangements were entrusted to Strong ~ Burns and Sprock Funeral Home in Rome, N.Y.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 12 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. followed by a Memorial Service conducted by Rev. Louise Spencer at Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg.  Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Obituary Preview: Lester Howard Sanders, age 85, Stanford, husband of Teresa Rose (Melish) Sanders, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Ephraim McDowell RMC in Danville. Born May 21, 1938 in Evarts, KY, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Ocie Mae (Davis) Sanders. He was in the United States Navy for over eight years, a former Kroger employee, loved to fish, watching the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals play, spend time with his family and was of the Jehovah’s Witnesses faith.
Survivors other than his wife include a daughter Connie (Scott Jones) Volk of Paint Lick, KY four sons Ronnie Sanders of McKinney, KY, Allan (Stephanie) Sanders of Bethel, OH, Donnie (Gail) Sanders of DeMossville, KY and Timmy Sanders of Stanford, KY; a brother: Cecil (Arlene) Sanders of Norwood, OH; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was born on August 11, 1930 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late Edna and Luther Kerr. Flo’s memory will live on for her family and friends through the many things that she loved: her best friend (and dog) Tilly, any well-stocked fishing pond, the Shiner Church of Christ in Williamsburg and Harrodsburg Church of Christ, the sight of a red bird, an early lunch at Cracker Barrel, the music of Renfro Valley, the thrill of a yard-sale treasure, multi-generational tea parties, a summer-ripe home-grown tomato, a fresh pot of coffee at midnight, a word search on a Sunday afternoon, and not letting anyone come over without feeding them, even (and maybe especially) if they just ate. Flo is survived by four children: Jim (Teresa) Tewmey, Laura Peyton, Lora Botner (Jerry Lay), Cindy (Steve) Probus, one brother, Charles Kerr and 2 sisters, Louella Taylor and Judy Ward. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren!
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved son, Mike Tewmey, a sister, Donna Kelly, a brother Clifford Kerr, son in law Benny Peyton, and three grandchildren.
Services will be officiated by her grandson, Rob Probus, at Camp Nelson Cemetery at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Pallbearers will be Michael Tewmey, Wes Tewmey, Adam Botner, Cole Tewmey, Doug Hall and Andy Baker.

Besides her husband and parents Mildred was preceded in death by two sons Derick Vance Darland and Terry Lynn Darland and by three sisters, Louise Flora, Omega Pittman, and Alpha Haacke.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Carpenter's Christian Church by Greg Warren and John Kesel. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
