At his father's encouragement, he studied and became a Design Draftsman at General Electric in Salem, VA, where he dedicated 38 years until his retirement in 1993. Bill and Norma moved to N. Fort Myers, FL the day after his retirement and remained for 23 years before moving back to Roanoke in 2016. Bill was a skilled handyman, known as the unofficial "Mr. Fix-It" of Foxmoor Village in N.
