Obituary Preview: James (Jim) Conrad Wiskow passed away on Monday, May 13th, 2024 after a very short and undeserved battle with Esophageal Cancer. Jim was born on May 26th,1953 in West Bend, Wisconsin to Harvey and Norma (Fagernes) Wiskow. Jim entered the world very early and began his fight from the very beginning. He was born totally blind with Cerebral Palsy and was later diagnosed with Epilepsy. He spent his childhood in Germantown, Wisconsin where he quickly developed a love for sports, specifically all Wisconsin sports. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan. He regularly followed Packers updates throughout the year and was always ready to discuss the coaching, how ridiculous the pay was for the players, and every game in detail. His weekly texts during Packer games will be missed!
Jim was also a big fan of music and broadcasting and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He spent his early adult years as a DJ and loved Jazz, Big Band and classic Rock n’ Roll. He was still listening to his favorite music right up to the very end. Jim was an Amateur (HAM) Radio Operator for many years as well, actively participating in several clubs until their move to Iowa in 2017.
Jim spent several years working for the Catholic churches in Blair and Whitehall, Wisconsin, where he met his devoted wife of 43 years, Suzanne. They were married on May 23rd, 1981 and spent most of their lives together in Blair, Arcadia, and LaCrosse, WI before moving to Iowa to be closer to their only grandchild. Jim’s love for Iowa was limited, but he quickly discovered a deep appreciation for the Iowa State Fair and his beloved pork chop on a stick.
While Jim’s life was restricted physically, he enjoyed many years full of experiences, dedicated family and a never-ending network of friends. Jim is survived by his wife Sue (Des Moines, IA); one daughter, Julie (Jeff) Tuttle of Des Moines, IA; one granddaughter, Marilyn Tuttle of Des Moines, IA; and his sister Susie (Jeff) Winn of Whitewater, WI; along with nieces, nephews and many wonderful cousins.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Taryn; his brother Mike; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17 th at New Life Lutheran Church in Norwalk, IA with visitation being held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. A burial service will be held in Buffalo City, WI at a later date.

Pam was a loving Christian woman who would give her shirt off her back to a stranger. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, cook and baker. Pam tended a garden and would share the fruits of her labor with others. She retired in 2022 from the State of Iowa Department of Corrections after 37 years of service.
Pam is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Lindsay, son-in-law, Ryan; grandchildren, Colson, Hartley, and Mia whom she loved dearly. Also survived by her Elaine Baber and brothers, Mike and Doug.

Obituary Preview: Delmar Leo Christensen was born October 14, 1942 to his parents Leo and Virginia Christiansen (Shaver) Delmar passed away peacefully on May 4th,2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Delmar had a great sense of humor. Was great at his work fixing and selling used appliances. He owned and operated Christensen Used Appliances for many years.
Delmar was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a well known resident of the south side of Des Moines.
Delmar is survived by his wife of 27 years Pamela Christensen. His children Lisa Tungett (Tim), Mindy Froah (Frank), Amy Kirgis (Mike), Caleb Christensen, and Tracy Richards (Tommy).
His Grand Children Cassondra (Derek), Cory (Jenna), Henry, Luke, Laura (Justin), Lexi and soon to be 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents,grandparents, an infant brother and several Aunts and Uncles. Services will be Friday May 24th,2024 at the Carlisle Community Center 35 Vine St Carlisle,Ia 50047 With visitation from 6 to 7 pm Service at 7 pm
There will be Dessert following the service.

Mark was a huge Nascar fan and was always watching for Earnhardt to make his move. He loved being in the garage, having a cold beer and working on anything he could or just watching TV. Which was probably something racing or Iowa Hawkeyes.
Mark is survived by his wife Janice, son Mark, grandchildren; Elliana and Hayden, and brother Mike. Mark is preceded in death by his mother Athalene Heck.
The family will be holding a celebration of life at the Elks Lodge 98 in Pleasant Hill at a later date.

The daughter of Larry Maxwell Barrett and Patricia Brandenburg, Pauline's upbringing was marked by adventure and familial love. She married the love of her life, Ruben Ceron, in 1985, and their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Pauline's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She found solace and joy in crafts, nurturing her garden, and immersing herself in the great outdoors. A culinary artist in her own right, Pauline loved to cook. Her culinary creations were always made with love.
Pauline lived in many different places across the country during her childhood, however, it was her summers spent in New Mexico with her grandmother that held a special place in her heart, filled with memories that would last a lifetime.
Pauline had a special affinity for cats, finding companionship and comfort in their presence. Her love for animals reflected her nurturing spirit and compassionate nature.
Above all, Pauline's greatest joy was her family. A devoted wife and mother, she poured her heart and soul into creating a loving and supportive home. Family gatherings were a highlight, filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Pauline's outgoing nature and genuine interest in people endeared her to all who crossed her path. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she met.
Pauline Grace Ceron will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her boundless love, unwavering kindness, and radiant spirit. Though she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ruben Ceron; children, Ruben Jr. (Carrie), Ryan, and Kylee (Alex); grandchildren, Damian, and Emma; brothers, Larry Barrett, and Scott Barrett; sister, Kathy Smith; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who will carry her memory with them always.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Obituary Preview: Randall “Randy” Jay Swanson, 67, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and resident of the West Des Moines community, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, after bravely battling ALS.  He was surrounded by love in the comfort of his home.
Born on September 28, 1956, in Marshalltown Iowa, Randy was the youngest child of Lewis and Janice (Norder) Swanson.  Randy attended Marshalltown High School and went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts Education.  On June 9, 1984, Randy exchanged vows with the love of his life, Marcia Wadle.  Their journey as a couple blossomed with the arrivals of their children;  Jeremy in 1985, Nicholas in 1987 and Kacie in 1988.
Professionally, Randy dedicated his talents and skills through his own construction business where he left a lasting mark through his hard work, integrity and commitment.  His customers, employees and peers, remember him for his expertise and kindness.  His customers enjoyed working with him so much he often became a “member” of their families.
Beyond his professional life, Randy was a man of diverse interests and passions.  He found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was hiking trails or exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving.  He enjoyed traveling and was an adventurous man - often pushing Marcia beyond her comfort zone.  Randy’s creative spirit spilled over into his personal life through his many building projects and hobbies.  He left a legacy for his family through the homes he built or remodeled to the pieces of furniture that grace his home.  Above all else, Randy cherished moments spent with his children and their families, especially his five grandchildren.
In 2022, Randy faced his greatest challenge when he was diagnosed with ALS.  Despite the adversity, Randy approached his illness with grace and resilience.  He never allowed his circumstances to dim his light or dampen his optimism, inspiring all who knew him with his courage and strength.  Randy’s legacy of love, kindness and tenacity will forever endure in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Swanson; his children, Jeremy (Megan) Swanson of Cedar Falls, Nicholas (Ashley) Swanson of Cedar Falls, and Kacie (Brian) Lewis of Grimes; his cherished grandchildren Junior, Sadie, Gabby, Lewis and Dexter; his siblings Richard (Maria) Swanson of Albuquerque and Nancy (Larry) Reilly of Waterloo, Marcia’s family Larry and Patty Wadle, Janet (Chris) Kubik, Teresa (Ron) King, Becky (Bret) Bussanmas and Christy (Don) Newbury along with a host of many other family members and friends who will carry his spirit forward.  Randy was preceeded in death by his parents.
Marcia would like to thank all of their friends and family members – especially her and Randy’s siblings and parents.  They all provided love and support from the beginning.  She’d also like to thank the ALS Association and Unity Point Hospice for their care and support.  These two organizations made navigating the final months of Randy’s life more comfortable.

Bettye married Ervin (Red) Adams on July 18, 1952.  They later divorced but remained close until Red’s passing. Bettye loved taking care of and spending time with her family.

Obituary Preview: Sara Ellen Collier (Cookie) passed away peacefully at Mercy One in Des Moines IA on April 18th 2024, at age 79. She was passionate about kids and spent her time working as an associate at Brody Middle School before retiring. Sara enjoyed cooking and baking, this often included picking rhubarb from her back yard to make delicious treats to share. Every year once the lilac bushes bloomed she would make sure to have a fresh bouquet on her kitchen table especially around her birthday.
Sara spent so much of her time caring for others whether it was baking and cooking for them, giving gifts of all sorts, and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, crafts, playing bingo and most of all God.
She never knew a stranger and made so many friends throughout her beautiful life. She continued the love for others and her friendships when she moved into long-term care at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa. She made some very special friendships in her time there, both with residents and the staff. We knew she was loved by many but have learned of so many more that loved her dearly and even thought of her as their bonus grandma. We would like to extend a special thank you to Wesley Acres and the staff who took such good care of her for the past 5 years.
Sara is survived by sons Scott and Michael Collier, daughter Michelle Bruner, grandchildren Nicholas (Haley) Collier, Breonna (Talon) Pierson, Kirstin (Austin) Grimm, Lauren Bruner, Blake (Gage) Collier, Brooklyn Collier, Nathan Collier, great grandchildren Isaiah Grimm, Willow Palmer, Auden Grimm, Asher Starling, Hannah and Benjamin Pierson, sister Jackie (George) Jones, brothers, Morris (Deb) Jones, Chuck (Lynn) Jones along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Gary Collier, her mother Gladys Jones, father Morris Jones, brothers Mick and William Kersey, sisters Avis Kruse, Mildred Dismore, Patricia McGuire and Sally Stucker.
We will miss her dearly but our hearts are happy to know that she is no longer in pain.

He married Marilyn McGriff on September 8, 1957, from that marriage there were 3 children. George was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter, IA., and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church at the time of his passing. He was an Elder, an Usher, and Sang in the choir at Peace Lutheran Church. He loved to sing and also told people that he sang “in the key of me!”
George is survived by Marilyn of the home, his 3 children. Debora (Ed) Ross of Des Moines, Ia., Leo and Charla Rehbein, Browning MO. Laura (Jeff) Mishler of Trenton, MO. 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Alma, Pauline, Frieda, Leo, Herbert, Irene and Larry, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great grandson.

Michele will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laugh, and her unwavering love for those closest to her. Her legacy of love, courage, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Michele is survived by her loving husband, Gary Stubblefield; her daughter, Kirsten Kid; grandchildren, Lincoln Kidd, and Giulia Kidd; mother, Coann Kelly; brother, Kane Kelly; father, Jerry Xanders and a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly. She now rests in peace, forever remembered and forever loved. She was preceded in death by her Stepfather Roger Kelly and sister, Missy Grabill.
