Shirley is survived by her sons: Mervin (Jennifer) Aday & Rodale Skidmore; daughter: Kathleen (Duwayne) Armstrong; Grandchildren: Dywayna Armstrong, Michelle Armstrong, Truck Armstrong, Stephen Gregg, Merle Skidmore, Donovan Skidmore, Methuselah Skidmore & Mervina Alchesay; and 25 great grandchildren.
A two night wake will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1006 N. Gloshay Street in Whiteriver, AZ. The Funeral will be a home service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Interment will be at the Where the Wild Flowers Grow Cemetery in Forestdale, AZ.

He was not afraid to help around the home, wasn’t picky and enjoyed his way of cooking spaghetti and relaxed often listening to music.

She is survived by her sons: Provencio Patten, Samuel (Delphine) Meade; granchildren: Raymus Patten, Janell Meade, Ashley Meade, Samyelle Meade, Elijah Meade, Keshawn Meade, Keith Meade Jr., Desman Wool, Mikayla Goklish and Danika Goklish; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband: Bernard Meade; son: Keith Meade Sr. and granddaughters: Kimberly Meade and Veronica Meade.

Obituary Preview: Martha Susan Harris, 92 years old, of Whiteriver, AZ, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
She is a member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, of the Tuigan Clan. Her Father was the late, Martin Susan and her Mother, the Late, Stella Antonio.
She was born and raised in Cedar Creek, AZ. She worked with Indian Health Services since the age of 16 as a nurse’s assistant, dishwasher in the kitchen and retiring in 1987 as cook.
Her home was always filled with her grandchildren and their friends. Her home always had good food and unconditional love for everyone.
She is survived by: her two sons: Gilbert Harris and Martin Harris; her grandchildren: Karl Harris, Cory Harris, Kasheena (Douglas, Jr.) Miles and Makayla Cody; great greatgrandchildren: Bryson Harris, Janiah Harris, Kochise Miles, Karlo Harris, Franko Harris, Shantel Harris and Chanelle Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late, Houston Harris; her two grandsons: Franco Harris and Josiah Harris.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Whiteriver Lutheran Church in Whiteriver, AZ.

Jemeara Shiree Ann Miracle Dazen - April 08, 2019 - January 14, 2020

Obituary Preview: Jemeara Shiree Ann Miracle Dazen went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2020 at Whiteriver Indian Health Service, Whiteriver, Arizona. Shiree and Jake Dazen’s precious baby girl, Jemeara Shiree Ann Miracle Dazen, passed away at only nine months old. When she was born on April 8, 2019, she had a rare heart defect call truncus arteriosus along with a hole located on top of her heart. Jemeara’s little body was able to handle her first surgery of banding her arteries to her lungs to help her breath, but the doctors anticipated a lifetime full of surgeries thereafter. Her parents prayed for God to heal her heart and use her as a testimony of His love, but God had different plans. She had tremendous strength to fight and hold on for 9 months on this earth. During that time, Jemeara smiled, laughed, played and touched every single life she encountered. Although her passing was very devastating to our family, we are certain that God did in fact give her a new heart in Heaven.
Jemeara is survived by her parents: Jake and Shiree Dazen; her three older brothers: Raimilio, Kadin and Jake Jr.; maternal grandparents: Andrew and Barbara Kane; paternal grandmother: Jeanette Dazen; three aunties, Lyndee (Deon) Goseyn, Darilyn Dazen and Juliette Haven. loved ones in Tucson, AZ. She was a beloved member of the East Fork Miracle Church and a devout Choir leader for 18 years. She recorded three gospel albums and will be remembered most for her inspirational song “Swimming in the River”. She worked for Sunrise Ski Resort as a Chef and Housekeeping services for 20+ years. She was an artist as a seamstress, quilter,
basket weaving and bead work and enjoyed raising chickens in her backyard. She is survived by the love of her life: husband, Provencio Patten; her sisters: she loved dearly, Elizabeth Declay and Ida Lou Little; grand children, her pride and joy: Shanyce, Kenneth Jr., Khalia, Matthew, Kameron; great grand children, she cherished and adored: Rayshawn, James, Kennah, Kendall, Avalene, Alianna, Ameron and Kameron Jr., 3 god daughters: Leanne, Shinara, Jenna, as well as nephews, nieces, their children and grandchildren, plus many extended family and friends. She spent her last days writing the scripture to Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Sheperd”. She had a generous soul and had a great sense of humor. She brought joy and laughter and endless

Loved to help anyone who asked.
Jonathan is survived by his parents, Jonathan and Lavaine Dazen Sr.; son, Jacque Jeff Dazen; daughters, Janine Dazen, Summer Dazen and Aloyse Declay; 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donovan Dazen Sr.

Leonard was on born January 17, 1945, to James and Jean (Perry) Palmer, Sr. He grew up on River Road in Whiteriver, Arizona. He married Sindy Palmer on July 3, 2010, under a revival tent near Alchesay Fish Hatchery. He worked for the W.M.A.T. Maintenance Department as a supervisor although he had other various jobs throughout his life. His hobbies were fishing, taking drives to lakes, and attending church.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Sindy Palmer; five children, Sterling and Starla Cheney, Seth and Shanae Hinton, Samantha Thomas; brothers, Ryan and Bryan Palmer; sisters, Pauline Westover, Rufina Dazen, Gwendolyn Gloshay, and many grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Palmer Jr. A.K.A. “yellowboy” and Gilbert Palmer, Sr.

Leandro Garcia Sr. - November 16, 1953 - November 27, 2019

Obituary Preview: Leandro Garcia Sr. better known as “Unch” was born on November 16, 1953 in Sells, Arizona. When Unch was one year old his family moved to San Carlos and lived there for twelve years before moving to Whiteriver. He had fond memories of his childhood friends in San Carlos. As a teenager in Whiteriver, Unch was involved in school activities, sports and developed a passion for music; he and his brothers had a band called the “What 4” and played in their parent’s basement. Leandro loved all genres of music but was an avid Beatles fan, a passion he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
After graduating from high school in 1971 he married his high school sweetheart, Erma and went off to attend ASU; he later returned home to Whiteriver to support and raise his family as a master mechanic working for Tribal Forestry and later the White Mountain Apache Police Department. In March of 1977 he began his career as a Jail & Dispatcher Supervisor. Perhaps one of Unch’s greatest contributions to the WMAT was during the seven year special assignment as WMAT Athletic Director. He recruited and trained staff to restore the Memorial Hall and the Whiteriver Swimming Pool. He worked to provide activities such as basketball and volleyball leagues, holiday events, youth summer programs, tournaments, fitness center, community dances and a community playground. During this period he also worked with neighboring agencies to erect antennas to improve the television reception throughout the reservation. In 1998 he returned to the WMAT Police Department and began working to establish the WMAT Department of Corrections as a separate entity as well as the build a new detention facility. He served as the first WMAT Department of Corrections Director until his retirement in 2014. His hard work, compassion and dedication had an impact throughout Indian Country Corrections. Leandro was a humble man who never took credit for any of his accomplishments but he did find satisfaction in making a positive impact in the community and the lives of those around him.
Unch was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather; he taught his family the importance of prayer of both the Apache and Catholic faiths. His love extended to his nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He was the type of person that gave love and everyone wanted to be around. Unch was a long time Little League coach of “The Chiefts”, his mentorship has had a lasting impact on his former players. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and being at family gatherings.
On November 27, 2019 while surrounded by his loved ones, Leandro passed away peacefully. Leandro is proceeded in death by his parents Alfred Sr. and Lupe Montana Garcia; brothers Alfred Jr, Lonnie, Lucian, Daryl; and wife Ermalinda Stago Garcia. His survivors are his children Lucian Garcia; Renee Perez-Garcia, Leeann & Rod Lacapa; Damenique & OJ Declay; Dezeray Garcia & Jon Lacapa; Leandro Jr. and Kerri Garcia. His siblings Joaquin Garcia Sr. and Yvonne Massey. He had 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 traditional goddaughters Joanne Goklish, Diolani Young, and Angel Yado. Many godchildren through baptism and many friends and extended family members. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Leandro’s body will be brought to his home in Diamond Creek for a viewing on Saturday December 7, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Francis Catholic Church in Whiteriver, Az at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Ft. Apache Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to pay final respects to this great, loving and kind man.

Animated, vivacious, and fun, Liz was loved by all who knew her. She had an innate capacity to make everyone around her feel appreciated and important. Her most beloved attribute was her ability to make each person she interacted with feel that they were the most interesting individual in the world.
She had a lifelong love of learning. She taught special needs children at schools in Show Low, Whiteriver, and Blue Ridge, for many years, and touched many student's lives, many more than she realized.
She was a true and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life and was an amazing spiritual example to all who knew her and served with her.
Liz enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and baking. She was extremely talented in each of these areas and was well known for her creative accomplishments.
Her kindness, compassion, and love will forever linger in the hearts of all who knew her.
Graveside memorial services will be at Reed Hatch/Taylor Cemetery on Saturday October 19th at 3 pm.

Olivia had many extended family, relatives and friends. She will be missed by all. All Tribal Dignitaries and Church Choirs are welcome.
