Beverly married Bob Turner on November 18, 1955. She was employed as head of housekeeping for St. Francis Hospital for 25 years until she retired. She was a member of Ascension Church in Skiatook. Beverly enjoyed bowling, fishing, sewing, crocheting, camping, traveling in the RV, and she loved playing games with her family. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband: Bob Turner, mother and father: Augusta and Joe, sons: Scott Dewayne Turner and C.D. Turner, sisters: Emma Jean Shrader and Marcelle Holloway, and brothers: Jack Holloway and Tommy Holloway. Beverly is survived by her children: Bob Turner and wife Vickey, Pat Turner and wife Paula, sisters: Pauline Balasano and Mary Ellen Shephard, Twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Rita was born January 11, 1947 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Paul and Pauline (Nipps) Fulps. She grew up and received her education in Broken Arrow and graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1965. After high school she attended some college classes at Oklahoma State University. Rita married Stanley M. Keller on July 31, 1966 in Broken Arrow and they made their home in Broken Arrow and Skiatook. She was employed as a travel agent for International Tours Tulsa and as a library aid at Skiatook Public Schools. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Skiatook. Rita enjoyed playing Cards, Bridge, and Bunco and she also enjoyed camping and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Rita was preceded in death by her mother and father: Pauline and Paul and brother: Gary Fulps.

Rita is survived by her husband: Stan, children: Kendra Thompson and husband Tony and Kilby Legg and husband Mike, sister: Vicki Barnett and husband Dale, grandchildren: Josey Branch, Kassi Branch, Levi Legg, Kolby Legg, Dylan Thompson, and Ryan Thompson, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

F.B. Leonard - October 07, 1935 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Fred B. Leonard was born on October 7, 1935, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to John and Mildred Leonard and he passed away on April 8, 2022, at his residence southeast of Skiatook.  He received his early education in Arkansas and graduated from Central High School in Tulsa with the class of 1954.  To meet a pretty young lady, he agreed to attend church with a friend.  It was the Northside Free Will Baptist Church.  He said,  “Sure, how bad can it be, Free Will Baptist, you can do what you want. Right?”  So he went to church and met two people there:  the Lord Jesus Christ and Claudia Smith.  He and Claudia were married on September 5, 1958, moving to the Skiatook area in 1960.  This marriage lasted 62 years and 11 months.  In July 1960, Lynne was born, and then Carla joined them in 1964.  Mike and Mitch completed the family in 1966.  Daddy, with Mama by his side,  served the Lord for the rest of the days of his life serving as a deacon at both the Northside Free Will Baptist Church and the Skiatook Free Will Baptist Church.  He was a gifted Adult Sunday School teacher at both of those churches.   He was a great mechanic, working and rebuilding many cars throughout the years.  He also enjoyed raising animals on his acreage and messing with his tractors and old equipment, but he couldn’t care less about fishing, hunting, or sports.   He began working for the United States Postal Service around 1959 and worked there for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.  After his retirement he began working with his two good friends, Floyd Hudson and Dillard Ridenour, doing various projects to help those in need.  He stayed involved helping us kids as we built our homes and all of the different projects we were working on.   He was so proud of, and dearly loved, his 35 Grandkids, 25 Great Grandkids, and the four who are on the way.   Daddy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Aron, and his wife, Claudia, who died just last August.  He is survived by his children, Lynne and David Graves of Barnsdall, Carla and Bob Jones also of Barnsdall, Mike and Michelle Leonard of Avant, and Mitch and Rachel Leonard of Skiatook, and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Bernice Malone of Sapulpa, Beverly Yenter of Glenpool, and his sister-in-law Joyce Forrester of Sand Springs.  He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and many dear friends.  He has battled dementia for the last several years, but he was always kind and pleasant to everyone he encountered.  God used the last few months to allow us, his children, to get to know him so much better and love him more deeply.  Daddy was healed last Friday morning when Jesus welcomed him home.  He was loved by many and will be missed by us all.

Teri loved spending time outdoors and working with her flowers and loved sewing and knitting blankets and fixing worn out clothing for the grandkids. Teri had no doubt in her mind about where her future home would be, she had her Faith confirmed in Jesus. Teri was a member of the First Baptist Church of Skiatook.

Mary was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church and had also been a member of the First Assembly of God Church for 41 years. Mary loved playing Bunko, coloring, going to garage sales and camping in her younger years.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father; Glyndola and Frank Barnes, her brother; George Barnes and sister; Helen Hughes.

Alice was born August 19, 1927 in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Lawrence Emanuel and Edna Jane (Thomas) Killion. She grew up and received her education in Skiatook, Oklahoma and graduated from Skiatook High School in 1946. Alice married Francis Luther Corley on October 16, 1954 and they made their home in Skiatook. In October of 1966, they adopted Katherine Lynn and raised her in Skiatook.

Alice was active with her church for many years. Within the body of Christ, her service included visiting others in the hospital and patiently sitting with and comforting the infirmed and their families. In her church, she served as secretary at Hillside Assembly. Alice was well-known within the community for her acts of service and involvement with church. She loved Lord Jesus, The Living Word, our only blessed hope! And she read The Holy Bible every day.

Alice was employed at Wells Food Market for many years. She started as a cashier and rose to office manager.

Alice loved gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, and sewing dresses together with her daughter.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother and father: Edna and Lawrence Killion, husband: Francis Corley, brother: Buel Killion, sister: Barbara Bryan, and grandson: Elijah “Nate” Williams.

Jack Salkil - March 27, 1947 - March 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jack Joe Salkil, 74, passed from this life on March 21, 2022. He was born to Leo and Ethel Salkil on March 27, 1947, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.

Jack married his true love, Faye Roberts, from Skiatook, Oklahoma, on June 30, 1966.  Jack was known as a hard worker, a quality he embodied from a young age. In his early career, he worked as a butcher, welder, and was a draftsman at National Tank. He also served in the Air National Guard. He loved working with his hands and never found something he couldn’t fix.  Those who knew him saw his ability to turn any idea, no matter how crazy or seemingly undoable, into a workable reality.

He felt the call of God to pastor in 1974, preaching in local congregations and then led thriving congregations in Mooreland, Oklahoma, for three years, and Wagoner, Oklahoma for ten years.  He was elected to the Oklahoma District Office of the Assemblies of God in 1990 and served as the Director of Christian Education for 19 years. During that time, he joyfully fostered a thriving Kids Camp summer program leading countless kids to Christ and shepherding many volunteers into full time ministry.  After leaving the Christian Education position he served for five years as Executive Administrator to the District Superintendent. All together Jack served for 50 years in ministry with the Assembly of God.

Jack strove to find ways for others to utilize their gifts and exercise their creativity.  He was selfless in his actions.  He didn’t need the spotlight and was happiest when those around him were successful. He was a man of integrity, leadership, compassion, and generosity, and his love for God was immeasurable.  He found every opportunity to share the love of Christ with his words, but more importantly through his deeds and constant acts of kindness.  Those who truly knew him will most remember Jack’s generosity.

Jack is survived by his wife Faye Salkil; sons: Kevin Salkil and wife Sara, and Travis Salkil and wife Shawna; sisters: Pat McCullough, Betty Phillips, and Ina Gardner: brother: Terry Salkil; grandchildren: Ian Salkil, Jaxon Salkil, and Isabelle Salkil; special daughter-in-love Chantel Goff, and husband Dave and daughter Emma; and many other relatives and countless more he called friends.

The Salkil family has requested all donations for Jack Salkil to be directed to BGMC. This is a missions funding arm of the Assemblies of God that they worked with for many years.

Bonnie married John Dale Rupe Sr on August 6, 1971 and they made their home in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Glenpool, and Jenks, before moving to Skiatook in 2002. She was a private school teacher at Bible Baptist Acres School while in Broken Arrow. She went on to become a homemaker and a member of Riveted Church in Skiatook. Bonnie loved going to garage sales, spending time with her family, and never hesitated to express her opinions.

Bonnie was proceeded in death by her mother and father: Mary and James Davidson, one brother: Jackie Davidson and one grandchild: Christopher Jalen Burnore.

Jackelin Fay Chastain - December 31, 1952 - March 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jackelin Fay Chastain was born on December 31st, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Dale Ivan Oliphant and Nora Fay (Orton) Oliphant. She graduated from McLain High School in 1971. After graduation, she moved to Skiatook and started a career in public service where her love and drive for helping people made her very successful in her work with the police dispatch and ambulance service. Her success with the ambulance service lead to a position as the director of the program. During this time, she reconnected with an old friend from high school and married James Chastain on June 6th, 1996. After retiring from the ambulance service, she continued to help others by accepting a position with Francis Streidel Nursing home. She moved from there to Baptist Village where she was the office manager for several years, bringing light and laughter to those around her. Her spare time was filled with nights of bingo, bunco with her girlfriends, and doting on her grandchildren.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Larry and Walter, and sisters Elaine and Sheila.

Jackie is survived by her husband Jim; children, son Jason Mead of Tulsa, and daughter DeAyn Flores and husband Andrew of Sand Springs, stepson Justin Chastain and wife Stefanie of Broken Arrow; and grandchildren, Brookelyn, Braylon, and Brody Flores and Colton Chastain, as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her teaching career took her from Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas where she spent over 20 years. Mariann was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Skiatook. Mariann loved to travel, go hiking, junking and was an avid O.U. fan. Mariann was also on a traveling softball team known as the Dixie Belles. Mariann will be missed by all whom knew and loved her.

Mariann was preceded in death by her parents; Lloyd and Jane DeShazer.

Mariann is survived by her brother; Mark DeShazer and wife Janet, sisters; Bridget Fielder and husband Todd and Leslie LeMaster and husband Larry and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in the memory of Mariann DeShazer with the Skiatook Paws and Claws Animal Rescue, Inc. at P.O. Box 1033, Skiatook, OK 74070.

Bob married Cathy Collins on November 27, 1994 in Colorado making their home in Colorado and several other states where he worked before settling and making their home in Wynona in 1995. Bob was a lineman for Bison Electric, PSO and IBEW Local Union 1002. Bob liked classic cars, fishing, camping, going to swap meets, car shows, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife; Cathy, son; DeWayne Coffman and by two brothers; Van Coffman and Ottie Shaw.

Bob is survived by his children; Muresia Coffman, Robbie McDonald and Curtis Coffman, Brian Adams and Ray Adams, brother; Raymond Coffman, eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lynda was born October 27, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ermel Davis and Lois Beatrice (Cantrell) Hendrix. She grew up and received her education in Jenks, Oklahoma graduating in 1965. After high school she attended classes at TTC and became an LPN. She was employed with St. Francis Hospital and Skiatook Nursing Home. She was director of nursing at Sand Springs Nursing Home and worked for Rose Rock Hospice, Soujourn Hospice and Grace Hospice. She was a member of the Ascension Church in Skiatook. Lynda enjoyed taking care of people and loved animals, road trips, and spending time with her family.

Lynda was preceded in death by her mother and father: Lois and Ermel, and one sister.

Lynda is survived by her daughter: Denise Smith and husband Slaton., sister: Wanema Roberts and husband J.W., three grandchildren; Brandon Lewis and Fiancée Ashley, April Morrow and husband Terry and Ashlee Rambo and husband Billy, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Owen "Wayne" Constant - November 26, 1939 - February 09, 2022

Obituary Preview: Owen “Wayne” Constant, better known to some as Coach “C” passed from this life on February 9, 2022, at the age of 82 at his home in Skiatook, OK.  He was a long time wrestling coach and teacher in Oklahoma and loved his animals on the farm west of Skiatook, OK.

He was born to Eva Irene Dodson and Olen Boalton Constant on November 26, 1939 on the family farm outside of Blackwell, OK. He resided here until high school graduation.

He attended school in Blackwell and graduated in 1957, lettering in wrestling for three years. He was a member of the State Championship teams in 1956 and 1957. He placed 2nd at 120 lbs. in 1957.

Wayne joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard March 25, 1957. He was called up for active duty on October 15, 1961. He was then Honorably discharged February 28, 1965.

In the fall of 1957 he enrolled and received a wrestling scholarship at what had just became Oklahoma State University from Oklahoma A&M. While attending Oklahoma State in 1958 he placed 2nd at the AAU tournament.

Due to injury he left Oklahoma State in 1958 and pursued a career at the Tulsa Caterpillar dealership as a printer and sales promotion employee.  This is where he met his wife of 61 years.

After a couple of years learning the printing trade Wayne, along with Janice’s support, decided to start the process of owning their own printing company. (Constant Quality Printing) They started with a single, one-color printing press in the garage. Before long the printing business was booming and Wayne and Janice went full time with a store front in Broken Arrow, OK.

Around 1968 the Broken Arrow school district administration approached Wayne about teaching vocational printing at the high school.  The next thing Wayne knew he had sold his equipment to the school district and moved his family, Janice and Michele, to Stillwater to finish his Bachelor’s degree. A year and a half later he was teaching printing at the Broken Arrow High School.

Wayne’s love for wrestling never ended, he went to OSU matches as often as he could.  At Broken Arrow high school, he began helping out in the wrestling room. For 5 years he was Assistant Coach. Before long he was making a positive impact and wanted more opportunity.

He applied for head coaching positions, but most school districts did not have a vocational printing class or even any equipment.  Skiatook did have equipment. Mr. Helmer printed the needs for the district. So in the fall of 1974 to Skiatook he and the family packed their bags and went.

This was the beginning of several decades at Skiatook Junior and High Schools. Coach coached both high school and junior high for the first 6 years at Skiatook. Skiatook Alumni, Rick Reeves, was hired as the Assistant High School coach and Head Junior High Coach.

For 8 years Wayne coached elementary wrestlers, three years 7th grade football, two years 8th grade football, one-year assistant tennis coach and three years’ head tennis coach.

After 20 years Wayne retired from teaching and coaching in 1994.  However, he returned to coaching at Skiatook in 1998 as the head Junior High Wrestling Coach and assisted the high school for a few years.

Over the years coaching at Skiatook Coach had a high school team record of 187 Wins, 103 losses, and 6 ties. A State Championship team in 1987 (6 individual state championship titles-David Sims, Sammy Francis, Jay Lorton, Clint Cox, Billy Barrow, and Clint Gruenwald.) State Runner-up teams in 1984,1985, 1986. A total of 16 individual state champions and 49 other placing in the top 4 places. At the Regional level there were 4 championship teams and 7 runner-up teams, including 36 champions and 82 placing in the top four. Coach received numerus awards including: 1976 Wrestling District 6 coach of the year 1976 Skiatook High FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer 1987 The very first coach to receive the “Onions Martin Award” given by the Oklahoma Officials Association 1990 All State Wrestling Coach – Small East School 1994 Partners for Excellence Award from the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association 2007 Named to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame-Oklahoma Chapter for “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” 2011 Inducted –Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Even with all the coaching, Wayne still made time to enjoy his farm life.  Riding horses, raising cattle, goats, and chickens has been a part of his life. Michele was always bringing animals home that Wayne would then assist with for her.  Fishing with both Michele and Justin on the farm was a past time as well. Then there was taking Justin to horse shows and tennis tournaments. A very full and busy life.

Wayne is survived by his wife Janice of the home for 61 years, one daughter Michele Vieira and husband Dave, Ocala, FL, Grandson Major Justin Constant (U.S. Army) of Fort Leavenworth, KS. Two Great Grandchildren Jessika Constant and Owen Wayne Constant II, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, and extended family members.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Olen Constant.  His two siblings, brother Eugene Constant and sister Lois Taylor.

He was a member of The Assembly Of God Church in Skiatook. Buddy enjoyed Golf, fishing, and sprint car racing.

Buddy was preceded in death by his wives: Naomi and Mary, parents: John and Bernice, three brothers: John, James, and Tommy and one sister: Sandy.
