Victor attended Loggy Bottom Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and ginsenging. He was a loving father and brother.
In addition to his parents Victor and Callie Cole, he is preceded in death by his sister Debbie Allen and brother Randy Cole.
Survivors include his son Randall Cole of Grundy, VA; sisters Donna Mutter of Abingdon, VA; brothers Jackie Cole and wife Janet of Stuart, VA, Greg Cole and wife Lynn of Pounding Mill, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Victor Eugene Cole will be held at a later date at the Cole Family Cemetery, Keen Mountain, VA.

Delores was a member of Jesus Church of Bartley where she served as Secretery. She was the former owner and operator of Bradshaw Welding Supply. Delores enjoyed knitting, painting, weed eating, and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her mother, Delores is preceded in death by her husband Roger Dean Poore, brother Kenneth Hicks and Infant brother David Hicks.
Survivors include daughters Veronica Perdue and husband Jonathon of Bluefield, WV, Crystal Baker and husband Paul of Paynesville, WV; sons Jimmy Poore and wife Sabrina of Iaeger, WV, Michael Poore and wife Kim of Jolo, WV, Marc Poore and wife Heather of Peapatch, WV; bonus son Roger Kennedy and wife Donna of Beckley, WV; bonus daughter Melissa Puckett of Abingdon, VA; sisters Lucinda Kennedy of Caretta, WV, Wilda Smith of Grundy, VA; brother Estil Hicks and wife Patty of Pennsylvania; special little buddy Tyson Allen; and fur baby Dee Dee.
She is also survived by eleven grandchildren Heather Driscoll, Jami Fife, Angela Lowery, Robbie Dale Lowery, Mandi Toler, Dylan Poore, Brian Poore, Alex Poore, Josiah Yancay, Donovan Poore, Robert Hughes and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Delores Ann Hicks Poore will be held at Jesus Church of Bartley, Bartley, WV, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Pete Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Lester Cemetery, on Divided Ridge Road, Grundy, VA.
Pallbearers will be Tommy David Poore, Michael Alan Poore, Roger Lee Kennedy, Wayne Fife and grandsons.

Clarence was a member of the Wilderness Tabernacle of Osborne Mountain and a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, VA. He enjoyed being outdoors, going to flea markets, animals, and spending time with his family. In his younger days Clarence enjoyed handling horses and going to horse shows.
In addition to his parents Raymond and Lillie Viars, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Sylvia Jean Horn Viars, and brothers Rufus Viars and Lewis Viars.

Funeral services for Robert Lawrence “Clarence” Viars will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Keen Mountain, VA with Pastor Billy Harrison officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Wilderness Tabernacle.

Obituary Preview: Roger Leland Barden, 70 years of age, of Richlands, VA, departed this earthly realm on Sunday, March 24, 2024, following a long illness. Born February 28, 1954, in Amelia County, VA, he was the son of Jeanne Snow Ellison, Cedar City, UT, and the late Richard Barden, Chesterfield, VA. In addition, he was the foster son of the late Adele Snow Iron and Raymond Iron, Grundy, VA.
Roger was a 1972 graduate of Grundy Senior High School, Grundy, VA. He was a skilled craftsman and member of Carpenters Union Local 1977 of Las Vegas, NV, where he lived and worked for 39 years before returning to Virginia. He was self-taught in geology of the great Southwest and was an accomplished photographer. He was a musician, a sound technician, and audiophile.
In addition to his father, Roger was preceded in death by half-brother John “Chip” Martinez III, Las Vegas, NV, and nephew Brandon Dellinger, Marion, VA.
In addition to his mother, those remaining to celebrate Roger’s life include his wife and love of his life Laura Evans Barden of Richlands, VA; stepson and caregiver Josh Evans of Richlands, VA; son Justin Barden and wife Monica of Charleston, SC; sisters Shelia Iron Dellinger of Marion, VA, Glenda M. Pursel of Las Vegas, NV, Karen Barden May of Chester, VA. He is also survived by two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Roger’s wishes, there will be a cremation with a private celebration of his life at a later date.

Ellen was a Godly woman who loved serving her Lord. She was a proud 1968 graduate of Richlands High School. Ellen enjoyed reading, sitting on the porch, listening to preaching on the radio and reading her Bible. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of her favorite things to do. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents Andrew and Rosaley Newberry, she is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Eddie Harman; sisters Bertha Newberry, Arbutus McGhee, Arizona Allen; brother Dennis Newberry.
Survivors include sons Mark Edward Harman and wife Shawnta of Shortt Gap, VA, Steve Matthew Harman of Shortt Gap, VA; sister Leona Campbell of Louisville, KY.
She is also survived by grandchildren Samantha Hess and Fiancé Jared Muncy, Austin Harman, Matthew Harman, special great grandson Weston, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Hale Musick; sons, John William Crigger, and wife, Debbie of Garden Creek, George Thomas Crigger, and wife, Kathy of Vansant, Claude Coleman Crigger, Jr., and wife, Alice of Mavisdale.

Danny was a retired coal miner, having worked for Island Creek VP#3 and Consol and was a member of the UMWA and Local Union #1640. He loved to garden and give away what he raised, and was known as the “tomato man”. He was a member of Vansant Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting weeds, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Pauline Ward, Jean Wade and Shirley Wade.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years Phyllis Jean Stiltner Wade of Vansant, VA; daughters Shelly Petrosky and husband Tim of Bristol, VA, Melissa Webb and husband Raymond of Vansant, VA; son Barry Wade and wife Sheila of Hickory, NC.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Peyton Blankenship whom he raised, Logan Wade, Braxton Petrosky, Allie Wade, Brynn Webb, Ember Webb, brothers-in-law Billy Ratliff of Abingdon, VA, and Eddie Dean Stiltner of Vansant, VA, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Danny Lee Wade will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Sunday, January 21st, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating. Cremation will follow.

Larry was a devoted Christian and a member of Keen Trinity Chapel at Keen Mountain, VA. He was a retired truck driver having worked for Claude Keen Trucking. Larry was a great father, brother, uncle and was loved by many.
In addition to his parents Harry Neil Keen and Callie Malone Clifton Keen, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ellis and Vicie Vandyke Clifton; paternal grandparents Oscar and Margaret Ellen Osborne Keen; his loving wife of 45 years Janice Irene Trout Keen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Warren Woodrow and Thelma Alberta HaHi Trout; daughter Callie Irene keen; sisters Beauty Keen, Inez Joyce Keen Acklin and husband Wesley Duane Acklin; brothers Harry Dwain Keen, Eddie Reen Keen, Remus Gary Keen; sister-in-law Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Keene Keen; and brothers-in-law Charles Warren Trout and Kenneth Jay Trout.
Survivors include two sons Sherman Warren Keen of Keen Mountain, VA, Larry Roger Keen, Jr. of Richlands, VA; three brothers Richard Keen of Keen Mountain, VA, Carnice Keen and wife Peggy of Pilgrims Knob, VA, Phillip Keen and wife Junie of Cedar Bluff, VA; sister Janice Lynn Cook and husband Wayne of Swords Creek, VA; three sisters-in-law Wilma Jean “Jeanie” Keen of Keen Mountain, VA, Linda Keen of Doran, VA, Linda Alberta Miller and husband Fred of Woodstown, NJ; one brother-in-law Robin Rodney Trout of Corner Point, NJ and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Larry Roger Keen will be conducted at Keen Trinity Chapel, Keen Mountain, VA, on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Richard Keen and Brother Lee and Sister Elsie Burke officiating. Burial will follow at the Ward Cemetery, Pilgrims Knob, VA.

Jerry was born on January 23, 1958 in Richlands, VA to the late Alonzo Cook and Ruby June Cook McAllister. He was a wonderful brother, Uncle and Christian and he attended Vansant Church of Christ. Jerry was a former coal miner and all around construction worker.
He enjoyed being with his family and friends, and hunting and fishing were his favorite past times. He loved teaching his favorite grand nieces to fish and shoot archery.
He is survived by his sisters Linda Sue Long of Paducah, KY (Terry) and Brenda June Matney of Tazewell, VA. Aunt Lottie Bailey of Ohio, several cousins, four nieces Carla Cook, Selena Long, Tera Martin, Kim Wolfe, three nephews; Brandon Matney, Justin Matney, and Dennie Lee Matney, three grand nieces, Sydney Martin, Tessa Martin, and Presley, Martin. Special friends and chosen brothers Albert Cook and family and Terry Childress and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Cook and Ruby June Cook McAllister and stepfather Robert McAllister, his sister Lonia Lou Matney, twin brother Jimmy Cook and nephew Clint James Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Shortridge Ramey Funeral Home of Oakwood, VA with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Cedar Bluff, VA.

Born in Gate City, VA, on May 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Echol and Kate Head Sloan.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. After his service ended, he attended Bluefield State College where he received his bachelor's degree in secondary education majoring in science and social studies. He was a beloved teacher in McDowell County for over 30 years, spending most of his teaching career at Bradshaw Jr. High and retiring from Sandy River Middle School. All four of his children followed in his footsteps in perusing their education careers.
He was an avid reader. He loved playing video games, especially The Legend of Zelda. He loved watching old westerns and collecting guns. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Betty Jo Brown Sloan, and his brother Emory C. Sloan.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Sandra Hatfield and husband, Greg, of Three Forks, WV. Sons: James Keith Sloan and wife Adrienne of Bluefield, WV; Dennis F Sloan and wife Ashley, of High Point NC; Shaun D Sloan and wife, Lori, of Bluefield, WV.
