Rosemary Swinburne - February 24, 1949 - May 11, 2024

Departed: 05/11/2024 (Muskegon)
Obituary Preview: Rosemary (Rose) Swinburne passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 11, 2024. With her husband John holding her hand, and her family by her side, she was received into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 24, 1949, to Loraine (VanderMolen) and Roland Huff. On November 11, 1967, she married the love of her life, John Swinburne. They walked through life together for 56 years. Their marriage was always God-centered, motivated by love, and filled with humor and laughter.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising their five children. She thought being a mom was the greatest joy in life until she became a grandmother. She perfected that. She spent so much of her life serving others. While Dad was the local celebrity of our family, Mom was the strength behind him. Dad was on the track coaching and Mom was the cheerleader and the organizer. It wouldn’t be unusual for Dad to suddenly invite a track team over for a spaghetti dinner or a pancake breakfast. No one ever left her house hungry. Her home was always opened to anyone, whether family by blood or family by love.
She spent many years taking care of others. She opened her home to both of her grandmothers, her mom, her uncle, and even her next-door neighbors. And over the last 22 years she dedicated her life to the health and care of her husband.
She never liked being in the spotlight but was always the strength and the foundation for her family. She taught us how to live, how to give to others, how to love, and how to follow Jesus. And through all of it, she never looked for the applause of others. It was genuine, just who she was.
Her legacy of faith and service lives on through her loving husband, John, as well as her five children and their families: Heather, Jeff, Johnathan, Michael, and Natalie Hall; Shannon, Michael, Emily, and Nicole Faust; Carrie and Michael Lukasek; Scott, Alicia, Trey, Sloan, Tripp, and Bailee Swinburne; David and Amanda Swinburne. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Jerry) Draughn.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Huff, and her Godly parents, Bob and Janet Wills. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit of love, kindness, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
In her departure, Rose leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, love, and compassion, inspiring all who knew her to emulate her unwavering devotion to family and service to others. May her soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she touched countless lives with her grace and kindness.
A Celebration of Life Service for Rosemary will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Anchor Point Bible Church, 635 Seminole Road in Norton Shores, MI. A Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anchor Point Bible Church.

Leslie Q. Adkins - June 23, 1948 - March 07, 2024

Departed: 03/07/2024 (Muskegon)
Obituary Preview: On Thursday, March 7, 2024, our world got a little quieter. Leslie “Les” Quinton Adkins of Holland peacefully passed away after spending his last few days at Harbor Hospice in Muskegon. Les was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Veteran, pilot, and friend.
Les was a true extrovert. To meet Les was to become a friend with Les. He even knew employees by name at all his favorite businesses, and they knew him. But that was Les’ way. He would talk to anyone and everyone, especially if he watched you drive up on a cool motorcycle or in a classic car.
We will miss hearing his stories of his time in the US Navy. Les served on the USS Princeton during the Vietnam War. After his service in the military, Les worked as a police officer for the City of South Haven and then as a sheriff’s deputy for Van Buren County until he found his true passion, flying. Les earned his private pilot’s license and then his commercial pilot’s license and became a crop duster flying for Robertson’s Crop Dusting of South Haven. Les even got his helicopter endorsement to further his dusting career while working for Hilty Farms in Fairborn, Ohio. Unfortunately, a series of back injures and surgeries ended his flying career, and he stepped into the role of Mr. Mom. This allowed Les to be his children’s biggest cheerleader, attending every school and sporting event. He never missed one, even if they wished that he would occasionally. This continued once he became a grandfather. You could frequently find him at school concerts, cheering loudly at soccer, baseball and basketball games or chaperoning a field trip.
His own hobbies included fishing (both hook and magnet), hunting with his sons, reading about history, watching airplanes land and take off, and driving anywhere and everywhere. His love of the open road was also his favorite way to help people. If anyone ever needed a ride anywhere, he would take you. He also loved music and animals of all kinds. He rescued many turtles while exploring country roads.
Les is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Anne, and his children Les (Cheryl) Ankersen, Kelly (Damian) Omness, and Quinton (Lisa) Adkins. Les will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Josh, Eric, Sam and Liz Ankersen; Isabel, Cael and Mia Omness; and Mason and Nora Adkins; and great-grandchildren Athena and Raven Ankersen. Les is also survived by mother-in-law Peggy Lykins, sister-in-law Barbara Miller and brother-in-law Stephen (Leigh) Lykins as well as many nieces and nephews. Les was preceded in death by his three caring aunts, Beulah, Louise and Maxine, who stepped up and raised him when his own parents failed. He was also preceded in death by his stepfathers Walter Smith (Smitty) and Donald Wenban, siblings Linda Burke and Jimmy Davis, in-laws Donald and Catherine Lykins, and brothers-in-law David Lykins and Chuck Miller.
