Sheila John Bradway - Unknown - March 13, 2024

Departed: 03/13/2024 (Warrington)
Obituary Preview: Sheila John Bradway, longtime resident of Warrington, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, aged 74.
Sheila was a Philly girl—born in Germantown, to the late John and Phyllis (Carfagno) Hogan. She graduated from Penn State, earning her Bachelor’s in Sociology. Early on she cultivated a lifelong love of learning, reading, and experiencing new things.
Although she was a self-professed “bad girl,” she was one of the good ones—one of the best. Sheila met Douglas while working at Honeywell, where it was love at first sight. They married in 1978 and so would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this September. Together, they traveled the world, making it to all seven continents. Sheila’s decided favorite was Antarctica because of the incredible wildlife and natural beauty.
Sheila worked as a teacher’s aide in the Central Bucks School District, but she would certainly say her favorite roles were Mom, Nonna, and Aunt Sheila. Her always-magical smile was broadest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren (human, feline, and canine alike).
Throughout her life, she enjoyed music (especially if it was by The Beatles) and reading anything she could get her hands on. She loved animals of all kinds, fresh flowers, and colorful invective.
Sheila’s passing leaves a void in an incalculable number of hearts. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, Douglas; her children, Kevin Bradway and his wife Natalie, and Dr. Tara Bradway and her husband, Patrick Siler; her grandchildren, Lily and Carson, and grandpets, Cosmo, Arrow, Neville, and Sweet Pea; her nephews and nieces, Ralph and Lyn Burns, Robert Burns and Ethyl Treatman, and Debbie and John Ryan; and her great-nieces and -nephews, Tim and Dr. Marissa Burns, John and Suheily Burns, Harlane Treatman Burns, Jen (Ryan) and Justin Silver, John and Amanda Ryan, and Kyle Ryan.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Burns, and many deeply beloved pets.
We will celebrate Sheila’s life on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Rd., Warrington, PA 18976. We will receive friends and family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Please, no flowers. Sheila’s family requests memorial donations be made to Mountain Rottie Rescue, where her daughter volunteers fostering dogs: https://mountainrottierescue.net/home/donations/

His children and grandchildren surrounded him with love.
Mike graduated from New Hope Solebury High School in 1961, and began his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1965. After a gap year, he attended Duke University School of Law when the civil rights movement was raging. Mike took great honor from having worked for these issues of equality during his time at Duke. He registered voters and was arrested for being in the "wrong” laundromat. He graduated in 1969, was Editor of the Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif, a legal honor society.
Mike’s first legal job was serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Francis Van Dusen, U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Following his time clerking, he joined the Bucks County, PA District Attorney’s Office under then D.A. Ward Clark. Mike would continue to serve as assistant, deputy, chief deputy, and Chief of Prosecution under Mr. Clark and Kenneth Biehn. Mike was appointed in 1979 as Interim D.A. by the county judges, and ran and won the race for D.A. in 1981. Subsequently, he was elected judge of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in 1985, where he served 20 years before retiring effective Jan. 6, 2006.
Mike is survived by his wife, Christine Boyd, whom he married in 2005. He was predeceased by his son, Richard, and is survived by his daughters, Christina Kane (William Maeglin) and Jennifer Kane (Boris Zabolotskiy), and Christina and William’s three children, Otto (23), Harold (21), and Joseph (18). Mike loved growing herbs and tomatoes, cooking, traveling, reading and talking about politics, and fishing. One of his proudest accomplishments was winning the Long Beach Island Striped Bass Derby in 2009, with a 42 ½ pound striped bass. Mike and Christine traveled extensively, on their own and with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), of which Christine is a member.
A reception honoring a life well lived is scheduled for April 6, 2024 at Slate Bleu Restaurant, 100 S. Main Street, Doylestown, PA, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. All friends and family are invited. Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary website, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who need to know about the funeral or memorial service. They can also help to notify people who may not have been aware of the person's passing.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by the family of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. In some cases, a close friend or colleague may also write an obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, as well as any charitable donations or memorials in lieu of flowers.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or website it will be published on. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary websites and funeral homes allow you to include one or more photos of the deceased with the obituary. This can help to personalize the tribute and make it more meaningful to those who read it.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

You can usually submit an obituary to a newspaper by contacting their obituary department directly. They will provide you with guidelines on what information to include and how to format the text. You may also need to provide proof of death, such as a death certificate.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the newspaper or website. Some publications may charge by the word or line, while others may offer package deals that include additional services like online hosting or guest book features.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance, often as part of their estate planning or end-of-life preparations. This can be a therapeutic exercise and ensure that your life story is told in your own words.

What is a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. It's often used when a full obituary is not possible or desired.

What is the difference between an obituary and a eulogy?

An obituary is a written notice announcing someone's death, while a eulogy is a spoken tribute delivered at a funeral or memorial service. A eulogy is typically more personal and emotional than an obituary.

Can I include humor in an obituary?

Yes, many people choose to include humorous anecdotes or quotes in an obituary to reflect the personality and spirit of the deceased. This can help to celebrate their life and bring comfort to those who are grieving.

How do I find an old obituary?

You can try searching online archives of newspapers or websites that specialize in historical records. You may also contact local libraries or genealogical societies for assistance.

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

This depends on the publication or website where the obituary was published. Some may allow corrections or updates, while others may not. It's best to check with them directly.

What if I want to keep the obituary private?
