Obituary Preview: Ivy J. Brown Johnson, 87,  transitioned on Monday, March 7, 2022, Baptist Hospital, Oxford, MS.
Ivy Gene Johnson,  also known to many as Louie, was born on July 27,  I934, to the late Dave and Mary Belle Martin Brown of Coffeeville, Mississippi. She was the youngest child of eight children: seven siblings preceded her in death: Maddie Adams, Adelaide Peggese, Anna Owens. A.L. Brown, Mary Wesley, Loyst Brown, and Dave Brown.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hopewell Baptist Church ln Coffeeville, Mississippi. She later united in membership with Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Water Valley, Mississippi, where she served as a faithful member until her health failed.
She was united In holy matrimony to James Johnson, who preceded her in death; to this union four children were born.
Ivy departed her life March 7, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.
She leaves to cherish her memories,  three daughters: Tommie Dee Johnson Linda Paye (Rielly) Tedford, and Dorothy Mae Johnson all of Water Valley, MS; one son: Larry James Johnson, preceded her in death, a devoted niece and sister: Annie Ruth Jefferson of Memphis. TN: three sisters-in-law: Ruthie Mae Brown of Memphis, TN,  Georgia Johnson of Camden, MS and Ernestine Johnson of Chicago, IL; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  and two special friends: Dorothy White and Cordie Walton both of Water Valley. MS.
Also preceding her in death are three brothers-in-law: Jesse Adams. Edward Johnson and Isiah Johnson.
Visitation will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Everdale M.B. Church , Water  Valley, MS.
Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Everdale M.B. Church , Water  Valley, MS.
Burial will take place at Coffeeville City Cemetery, in Coffeeville, MS.

Stephen Tedford - December 01, 1955 - February 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Stephen Tedford, 66, transitioned on  Sunday, February 27, 2022.
Stephen Tedford was born December 1, 1955 to the late Henry and Margaret Tedford who has both gone to be with the Lord.  Through out his youth he worked odd jobs and attended school to help out around the home.  He attended Water Valley High School before leaving to complete Job Corps which provided job training and education programs.   In 1974, he united in Holy Matrimony with Lillie Brown were the two became one flesh as husband and wife.  A marriage unbreakable with a lifelong union.  To this union children and grandchildren were born building a foundation were the children are taught the spiritual value, to have the courage, and plant seeds. Throughout his career he gained many skills that led to his role as an Operations Manager with Anheuser-Busch before retiring.   His Christian experience began at an early age when he joined Everdale Missionary Baptist Church.  He relocated to Indianapolis, IN where he attended other ministries before becoming a Deacon at Greater Total Praise.  In his role the greatest function was a servant.  No matter how, his service as a ministering deacon was rewarding and honorable calling in the church.   He was preceded in death by daughters Sharrita Tedford and Kendra Weathers; sister Patricia Tedford and brother Tommie “Tony” Tedford. He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted family; wife Lillie Tedford; daughters Deshanna Thomas (Michael Thomas Sr) of Jacksonville, FL and Tamara Harlan (James Harlan Jr) of Indianapolis, IN; Son Kevin Tedford Sr. (De’Borah Tedford) of Water Valley Mississippi; grandchildren Aerial Siplin (Michael Siplin Jr), Anastasia Tolliver, William Tedford (Tyra Markey) Gamron Tedford, Daekwon Tedford (Tiara Wheeler), Thomas Kendall, Ka’lynn Tedford, Kendrell Weathers, Kevin Tedford Jr., Kendarius Weathers, X’zayvion Brier, Kylie Tedford.  As families came together and grew he gained more grand and great grandchildren Michael Thomas Jr. (Courtney Thomas), Phillip Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Ashton Thomas, Joniyah Benson, Jonathan Malone, Jr, and Daelyn Burnett, Michael III, Cash, Amaya, Nevaya. Siblings Rickey Tedford (Linda Faye Tedford) of Water Valley, MS and Diane Jefferson (Johnny Jefferson) of Memphis, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Janie Johnson White was born October 21, 1948 to  James William Johnson and Deolar Woodard Johnson. She departed this life November 6, 2021.  She accepted Christ at an early age uniting with Union Hill CME Church where she served faithfully as a Missionary member, Sunday School Superintendent and Choir member. She often sang her favorite song "I Want Jesus to Walk Around My Bedside." Janie attended the Davidson High School. She was employed 26 years at big Yank/WV manufacturing and 20 years at YGH. She loved family gatherings, going on vacation and most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren whom she affectionately called "my babies." Janie was married to the late Winston "Duke" White, Jr. and was the mother of 7 children.  She has 14 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. One grandson, Reginald Johnson, preceded her in death. Celebrating her life is her children: Dorothy Johnson, Denetha White, Rodney (Liticia) White, Lawanda White, Ardrell White, Travis (Angelica) White and Lee Ann White and a special grandson/caregiver, Jaryn Gooch, nine brothers: Bobby R. Caldwell, James E. Johnson, Otis T. Johnson, David Johnson, Carl Johnson, Henry (Linda) Johnson, Johnnie Johnson, Lynden Johnson and Keith (Wanda) Johnson, nine sisters: Annie Jenkins, Betty Rucker, Delia Shaw, Shirley Johnson, Marilyn Brooks, Robbie (Leslie) Lantern, Gloria (Marcell) Walls, Alecia (Irvin) Hines, and Bonita (Earnest) Hayes, sister-in-law, Linda K. Johnson and brother-in-law, Will Robertson, Jr.  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pat confessed her faith in Christ an an early age and united with Everdale Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher until her health started to fail. Pat departed her earthly life on August 11, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She attended school at Water Valley High School. She was united in marriage to James Patterson of Charleston, MS. There were no children born to this union, but she attended to children daily as a Babysitter. She had a passion for children, and they loved her. Pat is survived by her children: Jonathan Tedford of Oxford, MS and Brenda Faye Tedford Gillom of Water Valley, MS, two brothers; Steve  (Lillie Mae)  of Jacksonville, FL, and Rickey (Linda Faye) of Water Valley, MS, one special son-in-law: Jermaine Gillom, one daughter-in-law: Nicole Tedford, one grandson: Waytt Tedford, and one god-son: Ashton Booker,  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pat is preceded in death by her parents: Margaret and Henry Tedford and one brother; Tony Tedford.

ROSIE departed her life on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Baptist Memorial  Hospital in Oxford, MS.
ROSIE was employed at Borg Warner for 39 ½ years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends; she enjoyed making people laugh.
ROSIE was preceded in death by her grandson, Ethan Buckley; one sister, Luren Phillips, one brother, Lewis Folson.

Shemir was a devoted son, brother, and grandson.  He enjoyed being outside, listening to music, and watching Cocomelon.  He was the happiest when he was showered with love, hugs, and kisses; riding to see water with his Pop Snook, and he also enjoyed listening to his granny sing to him.

Taruno “Punkin, Mook” Carothers - January 31, 1980 - March 28, 2021

Obituary Preview: On January 31, 1980 the Lord saw fit to bless Carl Edward Phillips and Rosie Marie Carothers with a handsome son. Taruno was better known as “Punkin” or “Mook”. As a child Taruno was always active and kept everyone on their toes. He had a love for outdoors and spending time with his family.   Taruno was a member of the Bayson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS under the current leadership of Pastor Amos Sims.   Taruno was born in Water Valley, MS. He graduated from Water Valley High School in 2000. He spent a small amount of time in the United States Military before being discharged for medical reasons. He was fond of his job with Williams Transfers in Tupelo, MS. He was a hard and dedicated worker up until his accident.   Taruno brought laughter and life to all those who came in contact with him. He looked forward to hunting season and fishing every year. Later in life Taruno grew a love of playing softball with the Atomic Dogs softball team. He also had a love for riding 4wheelers with the Boss Hog Outlaws. Above all he lived life every day.   Proceeding him in death are his parents, Carl Phillips and Rosie Carothers, and his grandfather, William Carothers.   Celebrating his life and continuing his legacy are his two sons, Jaquarrius Martrell Carothers and Davion Jarrell Carothers both of Water Valley. He leaves his grandparents, Raymond and Ora Phillips and Martha Carothers of Water Valley; his siblings: DeCarlos Moore of Coffeeville, Mikaila Dowsing of Oxford, Rodchadro Carothers of Courtland, Brittney Dowsing of Shreveport, LA, and Carlton Phillips of Olive Branch; and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends to keep his memory alive.   Although we will truly miss and love him, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with his parents.

BOBBY is survived by two children: Bobby Demond Baker of Milwaukee, WI; Yadonice McDonald of Peoria, IL; a grandson he raised, Brandon Bovan of Peoria, IL; four grandchildren, Robert Nathan, Jr., McKensey Nathan, Kenyale McDonald all of Peoria, IL; mother, Florine Baker Holmes of Water Valley, MS; five brothers, James “Jimmy” Baker of Kenner, LA, William Larry Baker and Craig Baker both of Tupelo, MS, Andrew Lee  “Teat” Holmes of Water Valley, MS and Marvin Earl “Dink” Holmes; two sisters, Doris Denise “Pizza” Holmes and Yolanda “Kita” Holmes both of Water Valley, MS; grandmother, Georgiann Hervey of Water Valley, MS, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Cornelius (Jabo) Gooch in April  of 1949, she was a loving and devoted wife until his death in 2011.  Together they had six children.  One son, Johnny Gooch, and eight sisters preceded her in death; Jessie, Florence, Ruth,  Hattie, Bettie, Mary, Leatrice, and Dorothy.  She was added to the body of Christ at an early age and was a devoted and faithful until her death. At the time of her death, Irma was the oldest member of the Martin Street congregation.
She leaves to cherish her memories, tony Gooch (Fannie) of Water Valley, MS, Linda Shorter of Davenport, IA, Edith Puryear (Cleveland) of Olive Branch, MS, William Gooch (Tish) of Oxford, MS and Catherine White (Her caretaker and baby girl) of W ater Valley, MS; one sister,  Claudette Pascul (Herman Gooch brother-in-law) of Water Valley, MS; 17 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Shortly after graduating high school George enrolled in the US Army and served as a marksman in the Vietnam War. George was honorably discharged in October 1969. His Medals included: National Defense Service Medal Marksman (Rifle)  Vietnam Service Medal Combat Infantryman Badge Vietnam Campaign Medal Two overseas Bars
George married Gwendolyn Lawrence June 25, 1977, in Rock Island, IL where they resided with their two sons Marcus C. Lawrence and LeVar Lawrence.
He worked as a laborer for John Deere, Moline, IL for 12 years. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and playing cards. Deno will be remembered as the life of the family, always making us smile with his jokes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son LeVar Lawrence, Dallas, TX; grandson Marcus C. Lawrence II; Chicago, IL brother Ardell (Louise) Lawrence and sister Lue Bertha (Sis) Folson of Alton IL; his aunt Hattie Walls of Water Valley, MS and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

On March 23, 1960 the Lord saw fit to bless Raymond and Ora Lee Phillips with their 4th child of 8. Carl was better known as Carl Edward, Stage Coach and Cool Breeze .  As a child, Carl always kept a smile on his face and would be the first one to give you the shirt off of his back if needed.
Carl accepted Christ at an early age at Bayson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS, under the leadership of the late Pastor D.W. Willis.
Carl was born and raised in Water Valley, MS,  he graduated from the Water Valley High School class of 1978 and attended Northwest Community College in Sentobia, MS.
He served in the Mississippi National Guard for 20 years, and was a dedicated worker at Toyota Motor Manufactory in Blue Springs MS.
Celebrating his life and continuing his legacy are his three sons, Taruno Martrell Carothers, Decarlos Dontrel Moore (Cecile Steen), Carlton Ta’Shon Phillips; five grandchildren, Ja’Quarrius, Davion, Dylan, Kylei, Presleigh,  his parents, Raymond and Ora Lee Phillips; four sisters, Maxine (Clinton; Deceased) Ross, Sallie (Dennis) Greenleaf, Annie (Michael) Fondon, Kathleen (Ray) Hawkins; three brothers, Roy (Shirley) Phillips, Wayne (Bennia) Phillips, Darrell (Dorris) Phillips; 27 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Carl lived a fulled and wonderful life. He will be truly missed by everyone.
