Paul R. Stys - October 02, 1946 - April 12, 2021

Departed: 04/12/2021 (Washington)
Obituary Preview: Paul Ronald Stys, 74, passed away in Washington, PA on April 12, 2021.   He was born in his childhood home in Crucible, PA on October 2, 1946, the son of John Stys and Anna Shuman Stys.   He is survived by his partner, Sandy Cincinnati of Washington, PA; sister, Patty Brozik of Carmichaels, PA; son, John Stys (Beth) of Tallahassee, FL ; daughter, Deanna Stys Samaha of Tallahassee, FL; Sandy’s sons Jay Cincinnati and David Cincinnati (Aubrey) of Washington, PA; three Stys grandchildren, Brandon Stys (Rachel), Ana Samaha and Ali Samaha and four Cincinnati grandchildren, Elijah, Gabi, Cooper and Finnley Cincinnati; nephews Mitch Brozik and Butch Brozik; nieces Michele Brozik Davis, Melissa Heider-Latin and Marcy Brozik-Sloneker.  He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Janet Hornyak Stys.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1964, he worked in a variety of manufacturing roles, first in Detroit and then eventually returning to Washington, working at Washington Steel from 1969-2003.   Before finishing an over 30+ year career as a proud steelworker, he also worked for both Bethlehem Steel and Allegheny Ludlum.
Prior to retiring, he and his wife moved to Tallahassee, Florida to spend time closer to their two grown children and grandchildren.   While in Tallahassee, he worked for Capital Regional Medical Center as a member of their maintenance team and eventually retired in that capacity.   In early 2020, he returned to Washington, PA to be close to his partner with hopes of enjoying retirement in what he considered his hometown.
Keeping up with his grandchildren, taking care of his beloved dogs, tinkering with a never-ending list of projects, being outdoors to hunt and fish, and watching baseball were amongst his favorite past times.   In his youth, he was an accomplished athlete and missed an opportunity to play baseball at a professional level.   He devoted many hours coaching youth baseball and supporting his son play.   He never lost the love for baseball, and always enjoyed watching games – be it little league or professional.   He spent countless hours in the woods hunting and trapping and nearly as many fishing.   Many of his lifetime friends were connections either through the steel mill or his passion for being outdoors.   He also rather enjoyed giving out advice by sharing his point of view on any topic – never shying away from a challenging conversation.   You always knew where he stood on a topic.  He loved his grandchildren more than anything in life and relished the opportunity to watch them thrive in any number of their activities.
